  • In this video, I go over what it has been like owning this Hyundai Veloster Turbo. Things like reliability, mods I've done, and things that have broke. Also apologies for the wind noise, I have a dead kitten on the way :)

138K here on a "mostly stock" turbo and still going strong. Manual, of course and I actually know how to drive it. I do 2500-3k a month. Well maintained so I have no worries. I, too got the EVAP code. Bought a new gas cap and... ...golden.

My 2012 N/A has 119,000 miles and it's still going strong. It had some problems when I bought it around 106,000 but I got those sorted out, got all the recall and warranty work done on it and it's been great ever since. An interesting problem mine had that the Hyundai dealer had never seen before was my crank pulley had a chip missing that ended up shredding the serpentine belt into 3 pieces. They caught it right before it snapped because the knock sensor that was under newly extended warranty put the car into limp mode. That knock sensor failure probably saved me even more expensive repairs.

I bought my 2013 Veloster turbo in August 2021 and it only had 73k miles on it and right now I have about 84k on it and it runs really good. I do have a check engine light for the bypass valve, which I’m putting a blow off valve on soon to eliminate that. It’s not a daily driver, though I swap back-and-forth between it and the Silverado. It’s a great little car though and fun to drive.

Hi, I'm glad you brought up that fuel smell. I have a 2012 veloster, no codes, and changed the gas cap twice, but I still have gas smell by the fuel cap. I don't see leaks, I have to inspect it. But it sounds like this is a known issue for this vehicle. Have you found the source of the fuel smell or fix?

Was that evap code "incorrect purge flow" ? I've been trying to fix it on my 2016 VT for a while now, I've replaced the charcoal canister/purge control valve/pcv valve/HOSE-CANISTER TO CCV hose/pcv hose and still getting the pesky code(yes i know how to attempt to clear DTC codes) curious to know thanks.

I'm at 187k miles. I purchased the car with 90k originally and i haven't too many issues other than needing coil packs when i first got it. As im typing this im having some suspension work done to my car like CV intermediate axle and sway bar end link replacement on stock suspension other than a rear torison bar and strut brace. Al far as mods i have a magnaflow catback exhaust with a piercemotorsports catless down pipe and a vibrant bottle style resonator. I also have a add w1 single oil catch can, a 60 mm tb from a elantra i think it was, Injen sri, and a turbo xs bov

idk the exact millage but mines around 177k. its had some minor problems. but so far so good...Minnesota some rust damage here and there. I wouldnt call it reliable nor the opposite its in this weird middle ground and i don't know if i absolutely love it or hate it sometimes.

Can you turn on and off the sound? I've been wanting to do something like this but I could get in trouble with the cops there are some laws against loud exhaust where I live. So I'd need to be able to turn it off at the push of a button

117k 2016 base DCT. Engine replaced (threw a rod at 68k), trans replaced (dual clutch assembly crapped out at 95k, replaced whole trans because that was cheaper), gone through 2 batteries, 1 set of front calipers, 2 alternators, 3 fan blower motors, torque strut, and now needs new exhaust manifold/cat and flexpipe. Trying to get her to 200k, despite all the heartache she's given me I'm emotionally attached 😂😭

I would just keep up on the maintenance. Oh and drive it like a Grandma if you want to make it last. Bought mine fully stocked off a Grandma at 30kmiles so i know it was taken care of and driven properly. Im at 170k now and only had minor repairs. Like $200-400 total in repair cost over 5-6 years. I drive it most of the time 80mph max on freeway but every once in a while I go faster

I think these get a bad rep because people who buy these drive them like race cars at every red or every stop sign. I have a 2016 Velsoter Turbo with 64k, stage 1 tune, basic bolt ons, Borla cat back exhaust (I forgot to put one of the prongs in the rubber garment so it vibrates some times oops). Also have an oil catch but don't ever get much blow by. Ever 3k oil changes there is like .5 of a tea spoon. On top of that I weigh my oil after ever oil change and I basically loose nothing. Equals to maybe .5 of a qt which could still be in the engine. Oh and I changed the trans oil at 55k. This car has been so easy to work on and zero check engine lights (other than when I installed a new BOV, one of the hoses kept popping off so it would get low turbo warning). I am the second owner and Ive had it since 2019. going to run her till it stops!!
