Then it was involved in an accident. They totaled it out and I bought it back. Was able to restyle the whole front end and it looks bangin. Guess what. I'd still drive cross country with this thing. 4 years later, it still puts a smile on my face to run around doing errands in.

I'd just do wheels and cosmetics with a non-turbo. Plus, Hyundai is known to void warranties for suspect reasons, so be careful with performance mods and reverse anything if you need to bring it in to the dealer, especially if it's broke. 2016 VT here.

By the time you’ve spent 10 grand on a turbo swap that causes a never-ending run of issues, you’ll have been able to find a turbo Veloster. Don’t do it dude.
Your pretty darn cool for a youngster. I bought a turbo for my generation Z son cause his grades were good and I couldn't afford a Corvette or a camaro (his first love since Bumblebee). He hardly ever let's me drive it cause I got a ticket the first time I borrowed my own car. I think it's totally awesome. Now after his third accident he will be back on the road this friday. And I'm proud to say none were his fault and I'm in the lead in the ticket race. One to zero. His first bang up was a truck backing into him in the HS parking lot. ($562.00) his second crunch was another truck experience. His girlfriends dad backed into him. ($3700.00). And his third encounter had no insurance. He lost his claws, his custom bug deflector and the whole front. ($7900.00) The deer still hopped away. Needless to say we both love our/his veloster turbo and your speech was the best I've ever heard that really expresses the feeling of owning one from a boomer to a generation Z'er.
I drove my friend's Veloster N today... I enjoyed it more than the corvette I drove the other day. The Veloster is truly a fun and addictive little car.
Well you hear it from kids who can't afford a 4cyl mustang too, they say stuff like "they're pretty decent, pretty fun" aka I am desperately lacking horsepower
Same here. Used to drive a camaro, challenger etc. but lovit the veloster, fun to drive, not many hace them, plus only standard that I found (hate automatics)
I am on my 2nd STICK Veloster and it is a hoot, great gas MPG - 45 hwy, and is VERY dependable. This is a FUN sports car for people who are not mechanics, nor do they want to throw a ton of money at a mechanic to keep it on the road... like the VW / AUDI crowd. I am now looking at 2016 Turbo models, but not sure If I need speeding tickets in my future.
Matt M. Haven’t gotten a speeding ticket yet. (Knock on word) but my gas mileage isn’t in my favor speaking that I’m constantly running 2000 rpms to hear it
@@cassiekelly6768 try a long trip at 75/80 mph in 6th gear 2700- 3000 RPM and coast in neutral down big hills 700 RPM. The reving and high rpm, racing from a stop light, burns gas. Also you can coast to a stop - break pads are cheaper than a transmission.
The Veloster is for young people? I bought mine at 61. It has 99000 miles on it and still running great. No faded plastic pieces either. The car is a lot of fun to drive and when I first got it in 2013, I got a lot of admiring comments at the gas station. Since they have become more common, other drivers don't pay as much attention as they used to. Decent gas mileage, consistent 35-37 mpg on the highway. Very comfortable for long drives as well. I made many 1000 mile one-day trips between San Antonio and Atlanta and wasn't worn out at the end. Oh, and I forget to mention, it's yellow, a beautiful shade of yellow. It's my second favorite car after the 1967 Jaguar E-Type Roadster I had back in my 20s.
You are getting closer the velostar is nice but still asking for a so you want a Volvo C30 Edit I hope they make one next and love my 09 C30 T5 R design super underrated cars
Ive got one... not the best for mods but the looks of it get to me. Its just one of the most stunning modern designs. About to get a rear antinsway bar and chassis brace by elevate to stiffen up the suspension. Recently got a muffler delete and the 5 cylinder sounds amazing. Love it so much more than my mini cooper s n54 i think, only had that for a month before the turbo blew still got my c30 after a year with 117k miles no problems at all. @the.fogman on ig if you wanna give me a follow
I've had a NA Veloster since 2014 and it's honestly been a blast. The car handles pretty damn well for being a rebodied Elantra, an intake and exhaust open it up a lot. The 2013 Turbo's had some initial issues, but since then have been fixed. Overall I'm happy with the car, no serious issues despite hitting the touge every weekend it in.
Hyundai nailed the new Veloster N and if they keep it up they will definitely be one of my favorite manufactures. Unless something comes up I plan on getting a low mile Veloster N out of college as they are already in the low 20s for
As much as I think the Veloster N is a step in the right direction, the I30N looks better imo. Got the neutered American version because “Euro only”. Looks damn good but it isn’t the N. Traded in my 2010 WRX for it and I’m not disappointed, tho.
You realize the Veloster N is lighter and faster than the i30N right? Same horsepower, 0-60 is almost a full second faster. Also I absolutely love the 3 door because I'm 6'3 and the driver's door is full size so I can get in and out easily
The first car I’ve ever bought new. 78 miles on the odometer. I can say this in confidence. Buy. This. Car. It has a unique look to it, you’ll get looks and compliments. It’s incredibly fun to drive, but Fitment is right, you aren’t winning any races against comparable hatches. But it does look incredible, and aesthetically it is the most interesting to look at.
I use to daily my Tiburon before I sold it. And got a Veloster. The first thing you should do is replacing ALL the door handles with new ones. Also I think the 06 is the best looking.
@@joshwahhill8385 lol yea the driver side handle is a lil sus on mine. It's on the list of things to do. Mines an 03 tho. Wish i had waited a little longer to get a gt
Absolutely love my 20 Veloster 1.2 turbo Ultimate DCT. Amazing bang for buck and the bank doesn't own Nun of it, my pinkslippers. I've messed up many a more powerful whips under 0-70mph with its amazing torque, and near 50/50 balance. I just started my mods with a cold air for that sexy tone and more hissing. They dont make/ship these anymore so its keeping its value as many new used vehicles have been as of late. Great community. 3door club.

I drove my friend's veloster N today, when I got back I told him "that was more fun the corvette I test drove a couple of days ago". I am 41, and thought the car was an absolute blast to drive in manual.
I've had my 19 Veloster N for a few months now and I am so in love with it. Such a great and quirky car. Fast fun and practical still. Plus the performance blue is like nothing else on the road!
It's 2024 Just purchased a 2014 Hyundai Veloster Turbo completely Stock with 35,000 miles one owner no accidents. I might do something to it as far a upgrades but not to much I like it as it is!!
I test drove everything I could before buying my 19 Veloster N. GTI, Civic SI, Golf R, Focus RS, Focus ST, Mini Cooper JCW, WRX, STI, etc. The Hyundai beat them all except the Focus RS in power and feel and the golf R in speed. The Hyundai being $10k cheaper and having a much better warranty was just a bonus. Only reason I didn't get an RS is I couldn't find one new for a reasonable price and they're unforgiving as a daily.
I've owned 2 Orange 2016 VT's, (first one was TBoned) and my second one is modified and it is night and day to my first stock one. Such a fun car, looks amazing and turns head, LOUD AF and as it is now (300 bucks in performance parts) it hangs with my buddies 350z HR. Fully built without a billet block, and a tune they make around 400whp reliably. They can be autocross monsters with enough commitment. Just stay away from the 12-14s as they have teething issues that plagued the engines/turbo life. After that they strengthened the components and are very sound. The community is doubling and they're now super available and a ton of parts now.
Vertical Effects judging by your playlist being full of X and lil peep you prob have homosexual fantasies of the high school football team turning your rectum inside out. Which makes you a prime candidate to own a Veloster
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! Currently own a 14 non-turbo as a daily and it is still fun as hell to drive! Too excited to be getting the N in a year!
William Wilkin what’s not functional about it. I’ve had mine for years and it’s super reliable. Have a few bolt ons and tune and drive it hard all the time with low maintenance. Fully loaded with sun roof, tech package, navigation, heated leather seats. Perfect daily for 10k
Don’t doubt your VT !! Yes it’s not fast stock but it’s extremely easy to MOD Mine is easily at 220-240 hp and all I did was a resonator delete intercooler kit, lighter race wheels and fitment and a chip tune ! Bro it can be fast I know a guy who has a DCT at 300 HP
I recently became interested in the veloster and almost purchased one a week ago and I'm SCREAMING that this showed in my recommendation list as I haven't even looked up the veloster in UA-cam's search!
I purchased a 2012 Veloster used a few months ago and had legitimately never heard of the thing before, or even seen it. Thought it was the whackiest car I’d ever been in. As an upstage from my 2006 Pickup, and a teenager, you can imagine how mind blown I was... 10/10 can vouch for it being a dope ass car. As he says, it’s got some frail parts (I’ve already broken the plastic rail clips in my moonroof; and I had to have the entire radio + steering wheel controls replaced when I purchased the car, they just didn’t work.) Since I’ve had it, though, I’ve seen all kinds of Velosters and really wish I had found one in another color (mine in black), but just for extra fun!
I'm running a 2015 VT R-Spec, over 100K miles and I love it. Have an Ark Performance Exhaust, SXTH FMIC, 3.5 intake, and dual catch cans. Plus after market clutch/flywheel and my favorite, a Quaife LSD. Saving up money to get engine block mods and a bigger turbo, then get it retuned. Going to be legit.
Own a Turbo Manual right now, and would recommend for a cheap fun hot hatch. Gas milage when I want it. Not as much go go juice as I want but that can be changed with mods 😁
Got this car at zero miles now I’m at 100k fun car road trips for days . Good on gas fun to drive recommend the auto trans with paddle shifters . Nice to shift when you want and if you live in la like me nice to set it on auto during traffic jams . Handles like a champ in canyons just slap some wider wheels and tires and you’re good. Oh yeah panoramic sunroof if your going with the first gen .
Since you guys wouldn't talk about the Scion iM, I had to decide on the Veloster Turbo. Saved up to buy a 2019 model, and it was the best decision I could make.
They look great & all the ones I've seen regardless of model do have push button start (at least those made after 2010). Only thing I don't like is the tiny rear window, the weak sounding stereo system & that it doesn't have a spare tire. Otherwise I love it....
@@fredcollins8919 weak stereo, must have seen a base model. My turbo has the Dimension audio and comes with an amp and a 10" sub. The rear window does suck but you get used to it pretty quick. Spare tire can be had for the car as an upgrade.
yes....YES Been following it forever and was disappointed every year it didn’t come to America. They brought the Veloster N and was hyped for the I30N, but they decided a proper hot hatch doesn’t deserve to hit America.
They keep pushing it down the road cause its too expensive to sell here smh - The Veloster N is super bare-bones inside which is why they are able to sell it compared to a Type R or a GTI
I have a hyundai veloster in Romania, i equipped it with a air suspension so officially i am first bagged veloster in Romania so i am very glad to hear that
Not gonna lie the new velosters are pretty sick, the front ends look sport and aggressive! I might pick up a Veloster N within a few years, maybe the rear end will grow on me but honestly the Veloster N is definitely hitting around the best bang for your buck, you have different exhaust modes from the factory and it sounds pretty aggresive, has the pops too lol.
Oh yeah the vid I have been waiting for! Love my VT. Not all that fast but fun commuter, no mechanical issues ever, 30mpg, torque steer at WOT, and of course the constant pssshhh pops and bangs
ever since I saw the first Veloster, I loved the look. now that I could afford to buy one, I did, I got a 2019 Veloster R-spec and geez, it so fun to drive. catches its fair share of attention and I enjoy my 30 min commute to work everyday! I am not disappointed at all, its def more than its money worth!
I had a 2013 hyundai veloster turbo and absolutely loved Alex got right on the spot. Yes there not the fastest but they will still beat any v6 out there. There a fun car and there are a ton of modifications you can do to it in order to make it look cool/pretty if you wanna say. I use to street race mine, drag race mine, even take it off-roading and it was a monster off-roading. It definitely put a smile on my face even though it wasn't extremely fast even if I lost you would be surprised on what they will keep up with. Alex your awesome always glad to see your videos man.
Listen I've had mine for over three years now and I can't see myself ever getting rid of it. Seriously underrated car. Mines pearl orange, 6spd, turbo with a fat blow off valve + big intercooler, Toyo r888's.. It's just a blast to drive every single day. I've had no issues with it so far. Other people will often complain to me that "I can't like it because it has three doors." Seriously after like 4 days you forget it even has a third door. I never even use it because my back seats are just rollcage country now. I feel like a bunch of people are in the closet about the Genesis and Veloster but they are just ashamed to admit it. Hyundai is a really reputable company and they're kicking ass in several motorsports right now so there's nothing to be ashamed of (2019 FIA World Rally Championship Winner). They are literally being run by car enthusiasts right now WHICH IS WHAT YOU WANT. In the 90's nobody in the US wanted to admit that they liked Toyota's and now look at the appreciation for Mr2's, Supra's etc for comparison. Side note, if you get one you'll definitely get some jack online trying to make fun of your car. Yet most of those comments come from 15 year old kids that swear they're going to get an R34 GTR Z-tune for their first car so take it with a grain of salt. If you are in the market for a fun hatch to daily I'd highly recommend. You get all the fun sounds of a German hatch without the car breaking every two weeks and you don't have to breathe in toxic interior fumes from hatches made in mexico. If you have any questions I'll be happy to answer. Also if you're one of those people that are self conscious about horsepower you can make 300 wheel with bolts-ons and methanol. Don't try to tell me 300whp in a 2700lb car is not fast.
Love my Gen2 Veloster Turbo. Great affordable car that is decently quick stock, but honestly can get some nice power numbers with only a couple grand in parts and a tune. Don't underestimate the Veloster. The tuning capability is pretty good.
That little 1.6l Turbo engine is awesome. I have Elantra GT with the 1.6T. An axel-back, downpipe, stage 2 takada cold air intake, and a light tune. Pushing an extra 70hp and almost 80 torq to the wheels. Almost pushing 300whp in total. Yes, these cars are awesome if you know what your doing.
I own a base N and I love it, currently has a Boomba blow off valve and torque mount and will be getting the Takeda momentum intake soon. Like the guy said, it’s not the fastest car in the world but if you like shedding corners it’ll make a fool out of most other high hp rides. Best bang for the buck hands down.
The turbo was released in 2013, not 2012. I love my 2015 VT and am actively looking for an excuse to get the 2020 N. It’s a great daily commuter and I has been awesome in terms of smiles per dollar. It feels faster than it is and is so much fun to drive!
I've been wanting a Veloster since my rental got changed to one a few years ago. However I could never find one because as soon as they were delivered someone would pick it up. I finally managed to find a lightly used 2020 Hyundai Veloster Turbo (5000 mi) and I bought it but wait this was more. It was the Turbo Ultimate! And whoever owned it before me checked the boxes for every single add on except for the interior lights. It's a fun little car and I would liken the experience to zipping around on 500cc sport motorcycle. It's not the most powerful but it's lightness makes for a fast feeling and taking banks and turns will be the highlight of your drives.
Just bought a veloster 2013 base after driving it for a week I love it but now I plan on finish paying it off and getting a veloster N. Coming from a muscle car fan boy . This hyundia is really fun to drive
I've owned my 13' Turbo for 3 years. They are enjoyable cars, super affordable, reliable, and different. Do I want a faster and nicer car? Of course I do, but for the time being, this thing is exceeding my expectations and putting smiles on my face time and time again. I have put on wheels, grippy boys, BC Coils, exhaust, intake, just tuned to Stage 1, and a slew of other little things here and there - but for a daily, it's getting the job done and then some for well under $20k TOTAL COSTS. If you actually dig them, only buy the Turbo - trust me.
I have the 2014 turbo and I couldn't be happier, it's cheap on had and fun to drive. With wheels, tires, suspension and other extra stuff to the engine it gets better

Needless to say we both love our/his veloster turbo and your speech was the best I've ever heard that really expresses the feeling of owning one from a boomer to a generation Z'er.
i own a veloster 2012, its my first car, 2 years together and I still love the crap out of it, it's an awesome car and I'm proud of it!
How reliable has it been and how many miles ?
I have a Veloster N performance pack and absolutely love it. Super fun and the exhaust is addicting.
I drove my friend's Veloster N today... I enjoyed it more than the corvette I drove the other day. The Veloster is truly a fun and addictive little car.
Finally! I’ve been waiting for this for a while!
Before today, "So You Want a Hyundai Veloster" was something only heard from a Hyundai salesperson.
There actually not half bad cars... I have a 2016 turbo and it’s quite a lot of fun....

Same here. Used to drive a camaro, challenger etc. but lovit the veloster, fun to drive, not many hace them, plus only standard that I found (hate automatics)

@@mysteriousstranger6711 what about the veloster N
I am on my 2nd STICK Veloster and it is a hoot, great gas MPG - 45 hwy, and is VERY dependable. This is a FUN sports car for people who are not mechanics, nor do they want to throw a ton of money at a mechanic to keep it on the road... like the VW / AUDI crowd. I am now looking at 2016 Turbo models, but not sure If I need speeding tickets in my future.
I have the 2016 turbo and absolutely LOVE it.
@@cassiekelly6768 keeping my eyes open, are you getting a lot of speeding tickets?
I’m with you I’m 46. I just got a 2013. I’ve never had a car that was even remotely like this, but I love it.
You are getting closer the velostar is nice but still asking for a so you want a Volvo C30
Edit I hope they make one next and love my 09 C30 T5 R design super underrated cars

Real shit, an expanded aftermarket on the 5cyl(in the U.S. anyways) models would be fantastic

You should've gotten the Veloster then
idk man I love looks of the new veloster. best taillights on the road
You realize the Veloster N is lighter and faster than the i30N right? Same horsepower, 0-60 is almost a full second faster. Also I absolutely love the 3 door because I'm 6'3 and the driver's door is full size so I can get in and out easily
The i30 n body is available here it is the Elantra GT lol a turbo is available if you want that body
I have the Elantra gt n line. Great car. No it's not an N, but has amazing handling and great looks. Plus a couple mods have made it much quicker...
Woo high praise! I've had my Veloster Turbo rally edition for just over 3 years now, and still love it the same as the day I bought it off the lot.
I picked up a new r-spec for $17,000 3 years ago. I still love it. The parts aren’t too expensive either when you get into modding.
YES! Finally the video I’ve been waiting for. Thank you FI
I just got a Veloster R-Spec. I love it so far.

10/10 love my veloster. Favorite car I’ve owned 🥰
Didn't even mention the Rally edition... right out of the box. Best budget car ever. 6 speed manual + turbo, no paddle shifting
Had a speed3, speed6 , a few rx8's, and a brz Ts this beats them all in power and handling.
i had a 2016 veloster r spec which is basically a stripped down turbo model for "enthusiast" i loved it so much
Flip the script and do a “so you want a Toyota Tacoma”
Or how about a 4Runner TRD Pro?
Yes the Tacoma or the Nissan Hardbody and Frontier
The veloster n is my dream 🥺

Yeah it aint fast but who gives a shit when your havin fun? Its quirky, but functional. And parts arnt too expencive either!
What's functional about it
William Wilkin i have 40mpg gas mileage. Most parts are easily accessible and easy to replace. The hatch is nice as well
William Wilkin what’s not functional about it. I’ve had mine for years and it’s super reliable. Have a few bolt ons and tune and drive it hard all the time with low maintenance. Fully loaded with sun roof, tech package, navigation, heated leather seats. Perfect daily for 10k
I love my NAV. I just installed bags today!
Don’t doubt your VT !! Yes it’s not fast stock but it’s extremely easy to MOD
Mine is easily at 220-240 hp and all I did was a resonator delete intercooler kit, lighter race wheels and fitment and a chip tune ! Bro it can be fast I know a guy who has a DCT at 300 HP
I recently became interested in the veloster and almost purchased one a week ago and I'm SCREAMING that this showed in my recommendation list as I haven't even looked up the veloster in UA-cam's search!
Had a turbo one because I couldn’t afford something faster 😒
But traded it in a few years ago and I kinda miss that car.
Got my first car today. It's a 2015 Veloster :)
So glad this is a car i actually really want!
Go for it, cheap and reliable, slow as crap but they handle pretty good and are fun in canyons.
You should get one man! Also check out my bagged Veloster Nav 😬🖤

Not gonna lie the new velosters are pretty sick, the front ends look sport and aggressive!
Very well said Alex! We love our Veloster community. There are a lot of cool builds and awesome people driving them.

I drive a 2012 turbo veloster
