Scotty. My daughter bought a 2008 Hyundai Elantra SE new in 08’. She drives it to work & back, a 95 mile round trip. With 220,000 miles - she never had a problem. Changed timing belt once, the oil at regular intervals, brakes, wipers & tires. Not one major repair. Still going strong. And my wife bought the same car (just different color) 2 months after my daughter. Her Elantra has 55,000 miles. Same condition and no repairs. Both are going strong in NY weather. So I’m not too sure where you get your “not made well & don’t last” opinion. They certainly have performed extremely well for this household.
There cars that just aren’t built well, Hyundai and kia have a massive class action lawsuit going on do to there catastrophic engine failures cause there has been so many.
No other auto maker has had that particular lawsuit before.
We got my son a used Sonata in great condition in high school. He didn't clean it much and that thing lasted about 10 years and is still running. Had a V6 that ran smooth and overall a great daily driver.

Purchased a 2016 Kia Sorrento with only 49,880 miles. Carfax said it had 30 days and over 10,000 miles of powertrain warranty. Needs a engine and Kia is stating that their internal date was different and I was 2 weeks out of time but the Kia was at the dealership for a week and so I called to ask for some help. They said that they have a goodwill program since it just ran out but only in their internal system which I have ask for that info and had no response
Totally agree....Hyundais are a very good cars now....the electric parts might fall faster than the Japanese brands but that's ok

I have 2005 elantra gt...209k miles...!!! Still running...
So, my wife picked up a hyundai santa fe years ago... I was dubious. But so far so good. It's over 275k miles and going strong. Only regular maintenance. No major issues at all. Of course now that I said that it will grenade itself tomorrow haha!!!
I've had the same experience. I had a 2005 Hyundai Accent (their bottom model) with 54k on it. When I *DROVE* it to the junkyard, it had 245k miles on it. the shift solenoid was worn out, but the car was still going.
The 6V in the santa fe is better than the V6 they put in GMC, Chevy and Buick. I got a 2014 santa fe (6V) and it runs like new with 153K miles so far.
I've had 2 sonatas with high mileage at trade in and currently have a Sportage SX and they've all been perfect with me and I drive my cars hard. If you take care of them they last a long time.
15 Silverado AFM failure at 120k resulting in 5k in repairs....16 Cadillac XTS Vsport awd 140k valve failure resulting in needing a 9k head job by Caddy dealer....goodbye twin turbos hello Elantra Hybrid....read 50mpg

When my car turned off at traffic lights and we brought it to several mechanics for years nobody could find a problem. Then my friend came over, he works on his own cars. He opened the hood and said: can you see the air intake? Yes ..... I see a large hole there. Yep, a huge hole that I could see but mechanics couldn’t? He replaced the intake and it never happened again
I have a hyundai accent 2014 with 250000 miles maintained myself with no engine or transmission issues.
Same with my KIA
Same... Our 2001 Accent lasted 230k of hard daily driving before the transmission went. And our 2009 Sonata is still a daily driver and has 219k still going strong. Both driven hard, and not as well maintained as they should be. Not sure why they've lasted so well, but so far so good for us. Jury is still out my our 2015 Sonata... Only 45k on it so far.
Rare. One in 10 has no issues. 9 in 10 have engine problem

When did you change the transmission fluild? I have a 2014 with 65,000 on it. It states change trans fluid at 60,000 only if you drive in severe conditions. Otherwise I can't find when or if I should change it.

I have a 2001 Camry with 227k miles and still runs like a charm. Especially after cleaning the throttle body.
I was amazed that scotty could find anything so radically wrong with Hyundai they are knocking on the door of BMW build quality at a Ford price point and I'd not heard anyone say they had ever had any probs with one. I am coming to the conclusion that cars imported to the USA were fitted with a delayed unreliability module !
I have a 2016 Sante Fe with 85,000 miles on it. Head Gasket went out and not under warranty and Hyundai Corporate Customer Service was terrible!! Junk cars, junk service.

My Sequoia has 235K miles and is basically just broke in. His car will get 235k miles but only because it'll have been crushed and the metal recycled to be used in a Toyota.

I absolutely hate it when people say that. They are the same people that don't do oil changes regularly. The only time 25k mile reliability review is valid is when you've got a sports car running 500hp and above. Other than that, get back to me at 90-100k

I was surprised. I bought a brand new Hyundai Elantra in 2013 and the thing has been rock solid. I’m at 125k and still going.

Elantra are work horses of the brand, go look up videos of numerous of Elantras reaching a million miles. Those cars a super realizable and super easy to fix.
I've had my hyundai genesis 2012 since 15,000 miles. Now with 121,000 miles and going strong.
My family has had good experience with Hyundai. I also have a friend who bought a very old 90s hyundai with 400,000 miles on it and in running condition for a few hundred dollars, drove it for 6 months, then resold it. That thing was a champ.
The Hyundais we buy in Australia are made in South Korea, and they have a strong reputation. US stock is built in the US, and the problems with your vehicles don't occur with S Korean builds
Are the parts sourced differently? It’s the materials that break down. Forget about the mechanics, it’s things like paint flaking, rubber crumbling, interior fabric wearing thin, etc… VW’s are like this too.

Yes, Canadian's get Korean cars too and they last forever. My 2002 Rio still looked brand new when I sold it last year.
Made in USA doesn't mean what it used to mean.
Was just at a Kia dealership. Some were assembled in Mexico, but most of them were assembled in Korea, with parts from Korea.
The Souls seemed to be the most common made/parts sourced in Mexico. Most of the other models were Korean sourced. At least at dealerships in Ohio.

My 2002 v6 sonata has held up pretty well so far for its age
They are great vehicles I had one for 11 years and put on well over 150,000. As far as I know it is still running great.
I have the same car but the 4 cylinder it drives very well, but it burns so much oil

Had a 2010 Hyundai Tucson that I bought mid 2009 and had it up until May this year. So roughly 12 years and 164k miles and only 1 issue where the radiator started leaking and that was around 125k miles. Traded it in for a 2021 Tucson. I'm throughly convinced that as long as you keep up with maintenance and not drive like a bat out of hell, a Hyundai will last you for a very long time like mine did.

I've driven Hyundai's for a long time.. Haven't had much in the way of trouble, they're relatively easy and cheap to repair.
Got over 175,000 miles on my 2006 Hyundai Azera and it's still running like brand new. Take care of the car and the car will take care of you.
My 3 Hyundai's have all gone 170,000 or more before trade in. Maybe you don't take care of them.

Not discounting your experience but buying a Hyundai is like Russian roulette. Yes you’ll get some over 200,000 miles and others will have major problems a lot sooner then that. Consumer Reports gives a view generally into reliability for cars. I own 2008 Honda Civic Hybrid with 205,000 miles with no maintenance issues but the battery pack which is expected. Scotty is talking about overall reliability and cost and not some particular cars like the ones you experienced.

I think it all comes down to the owners management. Ive had some of the worst rated cars and not much issues. Except por a 2010 Charger that sucked like hell

As a South Korean, I think Hyundai/Kias are generally reliable, but you can get some crap ones. With Toyota/Honda, the probability is much lower.
I’ve heard that replacing your Hyundai front and rear badges with Toyota badges will make it last longer

I've owned two Hyundais(4 year lease and 10 year owned), two Hondas (11 years and 6 years current) and two Toyotas (6 years and 8 years) and have been happy with ALL of them. I have friends who own Mazda and Toyota vehicles and they both swear by them. BUT, i also have a friend who bought a Kia Rondo used years ago and it's still going strong at close to 10 years old AND my ex-wife's Elantra is still going strong at 15 years old. If you're the type who drives your car till it dies of exhaustion, maybe Scotty's right. If you're not, a Hyundai works just as well and you get more car for your money than a Honda or Toyota.

3:30 Oil and air pushing the oil dipstick up and out can also easily be caused by a plugged PCV valve, or a plugged up vacuum source upstream for the PCV valve.
Yup! The crankcase pressure has to go somewhere, and it's designed to be vacuumed by the PCV system. They get clogged or stuck all the time by oil vapors. Really, I'm kinda surprised a "mechanic" would forget this. Think maybe he's rushing his responses.
Just want to let you know I have a 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe with 214,000 trouble free miles, other than normal maintenance. Uses no oil between oil changes, usually every 7500 miles. It’s still in very good condition and very reliable.
When you say to change your transmission fluid at 40 to 50 thousand miles, should the filter be changed as well? Also at what mileage is it best to not change the trans fluid anymore where it becomes risky to change it if it's never been changed? Also on some cars where you need to pump the trans fluid in don't you need a lift to lift the car whole car up to be able to do it?
I deliver freight to dealerships, mainly engines and transmissions. 5 to 10 hyundai/kia's a week for the last 5 years. I've never had a toyota engine in my trailer.
Makes sense considering their respective warranty programs. Plus Toyota engines tend to cost a lot due to their engineering. By the time they go out, they outvalue the car.
If you need a replacement Toyota engine, they are dirt cheap. More supply from wrecks than demand from blown engines.
If you need a junk yard Hyundai engine, they want a lot of money for it, high demand.
I understand why people criticize Hyundai for that but at the same time. Toyota has existed since 1910. Hyundai what 1969 and made ships and still makes their own steel and engines and transmissions now? I mean give them a break. Yes the early 2000 ones were more bulletproof than now but they need more experience especially trying to take a mitsubishi unreliable engine design and trying to make it reliable

Yeah right well see. I'm a tech. I've replaced multiple ball joints and struts on both of those for my mom and sister. It won't be long until it clunks over every single bump.

My dad has has a 2004 Hyundai Elantra with over 200k miles on it, he bought it new back in 04, so they can last if you treat them right.
I had an 05 model and it never had a problem in all the time I had it. The new one I have has been one problem after the other though.
It ran that good because it was an '04, these days( 2014-15 and later) these cars suck

2000 - 2006 Hyundai cars were good. not any more.
I was told by a local dealership service writer that the 2005 to 2009 Tucsons were bullet proof. After that they went downhill fast and have never been as good. I have a 2005 Tucson with 200,000 miles and it's good (original engine and transmission, water pump, alternator, exhaust system, gas tank, wheel bearings, etc.).
I'm working as a delivery driver. The company uses the Kia Forte and Hyundai Elantra that they buy used (a lot cheaper than Toyota or Honda) with 40 to 70kmiles. There are four of these cars ranging from 2014 to 2017. The are driven six days a week, 10 hours a day. Three of the cars are fast approaching 200k and are running fine. The fourth car has a little less than 100k and it's in great shape. I've owned a couple of Hyundai's myself and never had a problem. I'm not a mechanic, just giving my personal experience having driven them a lot of miles.
I would imagine the company you work for has a mechanic on staff or someone they go to for repairs?

hey scotty, my toyota hilux 2016 automatic is 5years old now and that beast is incredible. no issues from the start until now and all i need to do is change the oil every 5k km and and change the transmission oil every 40k km. no issues at all from the engine or transmission. respect for toyota and hats off to you good sir!
I've known several people who've had Hyundai for 20+ years.....but I've also heard opposite... I say its all a gamble just the best we can for the car and take care of it.
Same. My brother had an 06 sonata died at 260k. I have an 11 Elantra has that startup noise called an engineering defect. Not Toyota or Honda but probably a rung or 2 below.

I'm confused. I had a Kia for 18 years and its still running with its new owner. My current car is a 2016 Kia and has not had a single problem that wasn't normal wear and tear parts, or that wasn't covered by warranty and its still running strong. Regular maintenance is critical with Kia and Hyundai.

They’re brainwashed. Once a brand gets stuck in their head they can’t let go. I’ve never owned a Honda or Toyota for two reasons. They’re cheaply made and the illogical cult following. I’ve never owned a Hyundai or Kia either but I’m getting closer and closer to every day. Their cars are becoming nicer and nicer every time I look. And the extras that are included for free, no one does that.
Lucky you. My cousin got an Elantra in 2012 and it had it's transmission die twice. I made the mistake of getting a 2013 and will never make that mistake again... Utter garage drive and major electrical issues every few years. Meanwhile my parents 2010 toyota matrix still runs like a dream. Sure the new hyundai might be better but i wouldn't risk 30k+ on another one. Booked myself a 2022 corolla cross, just waiting for it to be delivered. Hopefully by Feb 2022, lol.

@@210_bk2 Agreed, but in my case it was multiple issues between two different Elantras so ofcourse would I would be hesitant to get another. I just stick to Toyota's now, largely because that's what my mechanic says he sees the least problems. As for American cars I've only owned a year 2000 Chrysler Intrepid. I liked the power of the 6 cylinder but it had its issues too. Currently my family has all Toyota's. Thr oldest is a 2010 Matrix with 200k on it. All run fine but I'm replacing the Matrix with a corolla cross.
Scotty is a mechanic comedian , ive seen Hondas and Toyotos fall apart like a house of cards, look thru the net and see how many of his fav models failed
I bought a new 2007 Hyundai Sonata, 2.4 liter 4 cyl, sold it to a grand daughter with 144,000 trouble free miles on it, and she is still driving it with 190,000 miles on it. No major maintenance required. My son has a Tuscon with 218,000 miles on it, still running strong, no other than normal maintenance done.
My 2013 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid has 175,000 miles on it and I have zero engine and transmission trouble. My only issue is my CD player doesn't work. But I just listen to Sirius XM so shrugs
The tape player in my truck still works😏😏
Bought an 18 Elantra just for work commute with 3 miles on it back in end of 17. 3 years and 78k miles later, no problems at all. Not one single issue. Did a brake job, changed oil every 5k miles, and bought tires. Not one single problem. Sold. New owner said he’s not having a single issue.

I agree that Toyota and Honda are top brands, but even with great maintenance they can have issues, too. I had an 86 GTS that we had for about 10 years, and we spent at least 5-7k on repairs- heating and cooling, steering issues, sunroof got rusted, etc. And our 2005 Acura TL had the trans go out at 60,000 miles. Great cars, but anything mechanical will break.

The reason Hyundai still sells a lot of cars is leasing. Most leases are for 36 months. The first lessee doesn't have many problems. The person who buys the car cheap off of lease is the one who experiences all the repair issues.
And the person who leased it for 36 months doesn't put 1 single red cent into maintenance. No oil, air filters or tire rotations. Just put the key in and stomp on the gas pedal.
It's actually because of brand and dealer warranties.

Based off of my own experience mine has been a good first time car.
First owner bought in 2010 from the dealership and kept up with maintenance, She baby the car.
She sold it to me because of a passing in the family, The daughter was given her dad's car and the mother got the daughter's car.
I paid $1,100 for it and now the second owner of a blue 2010 Hyundai Accent GS with 188,660 miles on it.
I've had it for 2 years, 5 months, 9 days and do basic maintenance on it.
I only had one problem with the car and even my mechanic couldn't find it or fix it.
The car had intermittent starting based on the weather,etc it would seem.
It would start no problem one day and the very next day not at all.
I got fed up with this and bought a blue driver, It had another bad day of not starting and i checked for codes with blue driver.
There was a code for Bad or Failing Crankshaft Position Sensor, I found the sensor and removed it.
I had a family member drive me to the dealership, I told them i want a new one of these and i put the new one in when i got home.
I cleared the codes and just like that the my problem was gone.
She's been good since then.
Guess Scotty never heard of the 13 Elantra that is still going with over a million miles on it 😏

Yeah he did everything on the hyundai dealership even hyundai when he got over million replaced the odometer that way it can display the 1 million miles , however at 227000 the engine was change because of the recall for burning oil so is not the original engine but hey is still alot of miles 🤷♂️

I had a 2017 Hyundai as a rental a few years back. It was a pretty nice car with lots of tech inside, but all that tech is just more expensive to fix as the car ages.
If tech is your thing you are going to swap out cars every five to seven years anyway.
I have a 2017 Sonota base model. It's coo. I like that it doesn't have that much tech inside and it's a turn key instead of a push to start button🤣☝less chance of it gettin stolen

My last car was 5 years old and because I walk to work (I live across the street) it only had 35k miles on it. That was 2 years ago. Now I'm driving a 2 year old Genesis G70 with just under 12k miles. Honestly when my lease runs out I'll probably buy out the lease and keep this one another 3 years or so. My motto is, "Save enough money for a comfortable retirement and spend the rest however you choose". For some that might mean leasing a car every 3 years. For others that might be traveling the world. For some it may mean doing both. What good does all that extra money do once your dead? Life is short. Enjoy it. Just make sure you have enough money for retirement for 20 or so years.

I have a 2003 Hyundai Sonata GLS. I bought it with 109 thousand miles on it 4 years ago. I put 12000 miles on it since then and it is still a very reliable and trouble free car.
I had a Hyundai i40 on hire about 10 years or so ago. It had a vibration & knocking sound so when I got home called the hire company who sent the breakdown tech. He jacked it up & said the wheel was about to fall off & condemned it from the roads until fixed. The wheel was completely wobbling & the car was still virtually brand new.
One of the best cars I owned was a Hyundai Lantra, it went hard, ran on an oily rag, even when the wife cooked the engine as a water hose burst the next-day I put an oil flush in it and when the lifters ungloged it was fine. New oil and filter and all good as new.
If that was a ford or Holden it would of been stuffed.
2014 hyundai veloster hit 100k last month and it’s still pretty much brand new, not even the brakes have been replaced it drives just how it did when it came off the lot

Within seven weeks I upgraded to a new 2022 Hyundai Sonata
Hybrid Limited Nocturnal Black because of the upgrades they made over my 2021. We have owned five Hyundai's to date and are very happy with these vehicles, really impressive cars, that’s my opinion and we have no regrets.
I bought my Hyundai Elantra GT brand new for $12K in 2004. It has 114K miles. It runs okay. I’ve only had a few service expenses brakes and muffler. I’ll see if I make it to 200K miles.

Had an 07 Hyundai Azera. Made it to 203K miles before it got totaled by a deer. Parents have a 10 Hyundai Sonata with 210K+ miles in it. Still running, no major issues besides maintenance and wear items.
Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2006-2011 Hyundai Azera and 2006 Hyundai Sonata vehicles. Water may enter the Anti-lock Brake (ABS) Module and result in an electrical short .

This is Scott’s opinion, he’s not the only mechanic in the world. If your Hyundai lasted the way it did, then that’s good. Scott is a huge Honda and Toyota fan. Toyota and Honda have issues just like any other brands. I have a Hyundai, and it has been good to me so far. Hyundai’s aren’t bad cars at all. You just have to take of your car.

I have a 2010 Elantra with 455K. Mostly highway miles. I change the (synthetic) oil every 10K. Replace the timing belt every 100K.

The alantra is like owning a Ford Pinto in the eighties... You could have bought any number of totals or civics for that same money but it would have lasted yof last did you awhile.... It would take 4 alantrus to make that many miles

I have a 2017 Tucson Limited with 90,000 trouble free miles and my mom has a 2012 Sonata nearly 10 years old , with almost 100,000 miles and no issues. Hyundai has a great warranty , 100,000 miles , so its a great value. If you are shopping for a new car don't rule out a Hyundai , they are better than ever before.

Ok, watch your videos fairly regularly, today because we own two Hyundais . 2013 Tuscon runs great at 77,000 BUT the 2017 Sante Fe Sport has the engine issues for that year. Fought it out with the local dealer / Hyundai and got it "fixed' at no charge but won't be buying another one.
BUT, until today never realized that you were from Lewiston. We ride our bikes past that old Sunoco station / pizza place often on day trips and were very surprised when you posted the picture of it on the video. Small world sometimes

My wife burnt her Honda engine 1.2L 2011 jazz down to a crisp, the mechanic said he had never seen anything like it in his entire life. The car didn't make any noise or smoke, the engine light just went on.
Had the engine cleaned out, checked and re-oiled, runs perfectly fine again.
Very impressed.
I thought he said that Hyundai/Kia completely changed and the reliability has improved drastically.

@@macyoung6634 I just lost my 2012 Hyundai Elantra Touring with nearly 200,000 miles on it. Cause of death was a highway crash (From which I walked away without a scratch). Aside from replacing worn suspension parts this summer as it reached 180K miles, the car was one of my all-time favorites.
Scotty videos are hilarious in that he will declare Hyundais and Kias to be total crap one week and then talk about them being pretty decent the next.

Hi. I got all depressed after buying a Dodge Dart 2.4. I got the worst car in America according various reports. So I change the oil every 5000 miles, trans oil every 30000 miles, and never rev or stress the engine. I change the plugs, ignit, pcv valve, air sensors 1 & 2, and so far it it perfect at 100,000 miles. I do it cause Scotty says most don't take care their car. He is so right.
I own a 2011 Santa Fe with a 195,000 miles 4-cylinder except for normal maintenance no problems don't even have any leaks.

I have a 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe with 150,000 miles on it. Its a 4 cylinder and I pull a 21' center console over 3,000lbs with it once every couple of months. The vehicle is only rated at 1600lbs towing capacity and I've had no major problems so far. I only tow through town to the boat ramp where I don't go over 45-50 mph though. I have changed out the starter at around 100k which was kind of frustrating but that's the only problem Ive had so far.

Purchased my Sorento 1 1-2 ago and have already had to replace Engine, brakes and rotors twice and now part of the transmission is bad. Kia doesn’t seem to care or want to help me. Think twice before you purchase a Kia vehicle. They will break and break on you and you will be too far upside down to unload it.
I was a dedicated Chevy owner for decades, but finally gave up on them when they wouldn't last longer than 150K miles or so.
Bought a new 2017 Tucson in '17. It's been the most reliable car I've ever owned. Not one issue in 4.5 years. Plus, I'm on the ORIGINAL set of factory-installed tires (Hankook). I just checked the tread level today and they look like they've got at least 9 more months of wear in them.
I couldn't be happier with my Hyundai.
I still drive my 93 Chevy..older chevys were built to last..but do what's best for you my wife drives a Kia and I'm looking at a new Chevy traverse I did my homework but I'm keeping my 93.

Scotty, Question. I recently bought a 2015 Lexus NX200t with 91k miles on it. Rides fantastic and it just feels amazing to drive. Did I make a mistake with this high of mileage or should I be able to get another 100-150k miles out of it?
It’s a Lexus so in general yes. But like anything if u take care of it it will take care of u. Give it the oil changes maybe change the transmission fluids (don’t flush) just replace and u should be good with it

Hyundais are pretty simple unlike something like a bmw so they’re cheap to fix and if you take good care of them they’ll take good care of you but you can’t beat on them like a Toyota.

I drive one of those Yawn-Die cars now and love it. Actually, it’s the third one we have owned over many years, and we have yet to have any problems. They are great, reliable, fun, budget-friendly cars. I used to drive Honda and Toyota, but their high cost make them impractical for me, and Hyundai is now our go-to brand. By the way, I think Scotty forgot the old Hyundai commercial from the 80s or 90s where they explained “it rhymes with Sunday!”
I replaced my camry with hyundai and so far I'm satisfied. Runs fast and smooth and very economical unlike my camry where I spend a lot putting gasoline $40 every two days. With my hyundai I only put $30 every four days. Scottie may be a good mechanic but his opinion is not reliable for he is not consistent. Today he will say don't buy hyundai but tomorrow after someone brought a hyundai for him to repair expect him to say this is why I will buy a hyundai.

Your Camry was probably a V6 and the Hyundai isnt ...and 40 every two days isn't normal if you don't drive a lot....the Camry probably needed a tune up...and you are spending more buying another car than you would have putting more gas in the Camry.....

My parents have a 2013 sonata and elantra limited. The sonota is in the shop right now getting a new engine. It's got 116,000 miles. The elantra has a crankshaft issue. It's got 85,000 miles. It's most noticeable when it's around freezing outside.
Now the question becomes what kind of drivers are you? You have two cars with lower miles and serious problems, is it the car or the abusive actions of the drivers? One has to ask this question.
@@BillySBC Hyundai had a class action lawsuit against them for the theta ii engine used in those cars, over 1.7 million recalls. Not the drivers fault lol. Same thing happened to my parents with their 2013 sonata

I've been watching your videos here from the uk for a while, I agree with alot of things you say, Having been in the motor trade like yourself for many years I have to disagree when you mention Kia, I Worked as a mechanic for them for years and these thing clocked 200k no issues, and that is a small 1400 petrol, I have seen the newer toyota's giving nothing but issues recently, The newer ones are poorly made compared to what they used to be like everything else.
I rented a 2021 Hyundai Kona the other day... It was horrible. uncomfortable seats, incredibly rough/stiff ride. Couldn't believe that a brand new "daily driver" vehicle could be so awful to drive.
Those things look like the nissan rogue of the Hyundai world...doesn't surprise me at all.
Other Hyundais aren't faring well in the ride quality department. My veloster engine is still running at 104K, but man ..the ride is like riding in a wheelbarrow. My wife has a Sonata, which is nice and big, but she complains the seat feels like a wooden stool, so hard. I can see where Hyundai cheaps out when it comes to cars. Suspension.

I drive a 2006 Hyundai Sonata V6 147,000 miles-Only replaced starter and brakes...
I also own a 2004 Hyundai Tiburon V6 with 100,000 miles..Only replaced timing belt and radiator...When Hyundai went to Gas Injection engines that's when their engine failures started happening...Alot of late 1990's-2010 Hyundai's still on the road here in California!
@@KayGx No.. Direct Gas Injection engines (GDI) are forcing more fuel and air into the engine chambers causing premature carbon build up and engine problems.
I’ve owned a 97 Sonata and my wife currently drives a 2015 Genesis. Both of the vehicles have never seen a repairs shop since ownership, just the usual preventative maintenance.
So Scotty - if I have understood your way selecting cars then my choice of a 3.0 inline 6 non turbo Volvo S80 should work for a long time as the engine is under stressed but I have had problems with the suspension which is one of the Monroe 4C systems. The suspension module corroded and needed to be changed and recalibrated.
Eh..Different people have different experiences. Bought a 2006 hyundai tiburon at 60,000 miles. 100,000 miles with very little maintenance later and 0 problems. Just sold it to buy a hyundai genesis coupe and hoping it holds up just as well.
He said its goes to 100 with no issues, problems occur later. At the end of the day maintenance and driving habits matter as well, but in no way is Hyundai comparable to Honda and Toyota in reliability. Especially engines and trannys
Im on my second gencoupe, lost the first to a crash :(. Just keep an eye on the transmission, theyre quite weak, and if you have the turbo, good luck. The theta engine has gone through a lot of issues over the years

I've got a Kia so I'm used to Scotty bashing my ride. He's not wrong about them, they won't last you 300k+ miles like a Toyota but they'll usually be pretty good cars for the first 120k miles or so. They're good new cars, but not good higher mileage used cars.
