- She was the tiniest little superstar, a beacon for a country weighed down with economic turmoil. And Shirley Temple too was often weighed down by extreme expectations, tight work schedules, and no small amount of objectifying. But she bravely wore a smile for the cameras, but let’s find out who Shirley was when the cameras stopped rolling.
I’m your host, Nostalgic Nick, here to board the not so Good Ship Lollipop and explore the darker side to the life and career of Shirley Temple. Thankfully, it’s not all bad, and this immortal starlet rose above it all and did remarkable things. If you enjoy our Shirley Deep Dive, be sure to give it a thumbs up, and don’t forget to subscribe so you never miss a memory. But without further ado, let’s jump back in time!

WHAT DO YOU REMEMBER ABOUT SHIRLEY? 🤔
That she almost got the role of Dorothy Gale in the original Wizard of Oz
Good Ship lollipop ❤😂😅
Her talent, dimples and her movies. She made her life to be as brave as she could be.😊😊😊
I took tap dancing at Modeling school.. And thanks to her I loved to sing. I had also asisted drama class. And was pretty good at grammar since I was a kid.
She had a Very generous Heart. Despite all that treatment she was a very sane girl because she Believed in herself!.. She was so cute and Inspiring.
I have a VERY unique story regarding Shirley. I work for a funeral home after hour phone service. I got a call from her nurse that she WOULD be passing tonight and to be prepared. I took all the doctor and family contact information that I needed and had everything prepped for her to be picked up and brought to the funeral home. This amazing lady held out for another month before passing and I have always thought that it totally fits her never quit life.
Nothing can be very unique. It is either unique or it’s not. Just saying…😊
@@paultrewin5871 Thank you for your constructive input.

That's what you decided to focus on with this story? 🙄
@@anakelly76512 Yep. It wasn’t much of a story, was it? And nowhere near unique, I think.
You guys are idiots. Leave her alone. Great story!❤
The movie industry was cruel to that little girl. But she prevailed throughout it all. She was truly amazing.
very perverted and immoral parents!
Sad that the industry has only changed for the worst since then.
They are as corrupt as our government. ☹
They treated the fellow child actors in her films even worse.
Now her children confirm rumors but we’re is her children confirming the rumors in this video did I miss something?
shirley temple was the cutest little girl no wonder she became a star
Her discussions on NATIONAL TV about breast cancer SAVED MY GRANDMOTHER'S LIFE! And I KNOW my grandmother was just one of many women who can say that. So many people in the USA are in her debt for her decision to go public with such a private matter. I KNOW that it saved at least one life for sure. RIP Shirley Temple-Black and THANK YOU!
How wonderful
I had HER2 cancer on my right breast in 2002, Herceptin was a new drug for those who were not in the late stages back then. I KNOW that Shirley Temple's work helped to save my live, I opted for a double mastectomy, had 22 months of chemo, and a month of radiation. I am fortunate to still be alive. God Bless you, Shirley Temple, you are still dearly loved. And I know you are praying for us from Heaven.
It is nice to know that there were a few people who actually lived exemplary lives. ❤
It was my grandma who introduced me to Shirley Temple--she loved her so much!
I am sad to hear she had to deal with perverts and pedophiles and no one protected her. She was incredibly talented, endearing and sweet. I was not aware that she made so many positive contributions. Sadly, Hollyweird has not changed. RIP Miss Shirley ❤
Where was her mother when she was having to deal with all those sexual perverts? Gertrude was pushing her along throughout it all by the sounds of it.
@@smithface8791
Shirley's Mother was SICK in the head! She basically lived her failed dreams through her toddler, (she pimped her out at 3yrs old!!!) and then continually throughout her entire childhood! All her mother cared about was the fortune & fame! And apparently her Father was no better because he allowed it! I'd bet that poor little girl wouldn't even receive ANY love, adoration, or praise from her Mother Unless she performed & became her "Cash Cow!"
Ugh! EVERY movie she was Surrounded by adult men Staring, & Leering at her, and No-one thought that as Inappropriate, Perverse, & Sick!?!!! WTH!? 😠🤮
As young children watching her, all we saw was a cute & talented little girl performing, BUT Adults thinking that that was "OK" Come on! What is Wrong with people!?!!!!!🤦🏼♀️
@@CherylBerrylnot everyone had t.v.s in their home, so not everyone knew about the sexier roles she did. Most people went to the show and saw her there. I’d blame the parents. What mother would allow her child to look like that in front of people? And where was her father to protect her virtue? But Sometimes things happen when parents aren’t looking. Trusted friends pull children in dark corners, that’s why we have to stay vigilant with our children.
Yes so sad@@smithface8791
Disgustingly, Hollyweird has only gotten much much worse!
Shirley Temple never did lose her charming smile, huh? I swear her smile got more and more charming as she aged.💗
Definitely one of a kind 😊
I've only ever seen her as a child never any older than maybe five
@@cajsecret25l 3:10 ❤
Right? She was absolutely beautiful inside & out ! Her smile was contagious & her talents at her age (3) were unrivaled even today. Her family should b proud 👏! She made acting, singing & dancing look easy. What a beautiful soul !
I loved her as a child & bought her movies for my children. My children loved her to., they were both born in the 1990's. I may buy another set for my grandchildren. America can use some of her pure innocents & goodness & kindness.
Wonder if any of her children inherited her talents?
If her family reads this, know she touched many lives in many generations. God bless, what an American treasure!!!
Fabulous woman
After her Hollywood fame, this beautiful lady spent her life helping others. The world needs more people like her where race, colour and religion was no barrier.
Especially today where our society has become so divided by our politicians who encourage hate against anyone who disagree with them.
If you're not already, then go out and be that person. 😊
@@kp8381... ...That he even pointed it out, hints that he already is being that person.
⁹I will not 😊😊😊😅
I always wondered how a child like her could remember lines and such expression as Shirly.
She had an untopped talent.
The fact that adults exploited children is just pure evil.
It shows just how dark Hollywood has always been.
Hollywood/show business is the invention of the devil.
Yes, it is pure evil and one day they all who have committed that horrible sin against children will stand before God and will be held accountable.
I loved Shirley Temple. She was an amazing little girl+ actress and woman. 💖💖💖
That is why Michael Jackson innocent.
@@brendaflinders7601how how old was she was how old when died?😢
They still are!
My mom had a Shirley Temple doll in the box. When Shirley Temple came to Chattanooga in the 1970s, she was climbing off the Twin Beechcraft Model 18 and saw my mom standing in the crowd holding the doll. She broke down in tears at the site of a doll of her in mom's hands. She autographed the doll's box for mom.
Awwww - That's adorable! Thanks for sharing that with us all. All the gawdz bless Shirley's magnificent, SMART, sweet spirit - AND your sweet mom.
We all loved her as children, I’m a baby boomer so we were uplifted by her incredible talent in the 50s ❤️🇦🇺🤗
And 60's.
Hedi was my favorite.😊
@@KOOLBadger
Yes! Heidi! I can't find that dvd anywhere! 😔
Gen X here and we felt the same in the 70's ❤❤
Shirley Temple was a beautiful and talented little girl . She bought a smile to any one , who saw her movies . Unfortunately as a child star , she had to be subjected to predators in the movie industrial . Later in life her first husband and then cancer . But at the end a very good second husband . Shirley was a remarkable and kindhearted woman . Rest in Peace Shirley Temple Black ❤🙏
Well stated.👍🏾
I loved ST as a child watching her movies. Her autobiography was a real eye-opener in that her image as a goody-two-shoes didn't hold a candle to her true nature. As a child she was emotionally intelligent and highly intuitive. She navigated the movie business better than most adult actors and had a keen sense of human behavior. If you're a Shirley Temple fan and haven't read her book, I highly recommend it!
It was a wonderful book. Shirley Temple wrote in the book that one reason she wrote it was so people would know the truth about her, not what people made up. :)
BTW, whether it makes any difference to people - Shirley Temple wrote in her book that she is a Christian and lived her life that way.
I have already located a copy and will be purchasing soon.
@@drmoynihan Nice 🙂 May God rest her soul 🙏
@@drmoynihanSo What? Yes she was a Christian however that was her decision for her comfort. That is for each person where they find their comfort. NOT for people like you to hold up a virtual placard saying well she believed she must be right. Sorry but l would rather use my intellect than be a sheep.
Blessed Be. 👍🌹🥰🙏

Choosing and living a lifestyle that has a positive standard is a compass in life. Shirley Temple lived a good life in accordance to her beliefs. That was my observation and I am not surprised that people disagree with and even take offense towards this standard.
What a beautiful woman and soul! I’m 60 years old and loved watching all of her movies on Saturday mornings when I was a kid & teenager! She was a special and talented gift to the world and is still missed today! Rest in heaven Ms Shirley Temple Black! 😊🙏🏾❤️
I'm 64 and like you, I adored Shirley Temple and watched all her movies 1,000 times over. The Blue Bird was to compensate Shirley for missing out on the Wizard of Oz. Discovering this fact of the Blue Bird, and after giving it a lot of thought back in the day - and today, I'm glad that Judy Garland prevailed.
It is is like Rhett Butler can ever be Clark Gable and not Gary Cooper.
62 here, and she was certainly a treasured part of my childhood as well.
I never tire of hearing about her and was so proud of her political involvement as an adult.
She was and remains indomitable imho.
She was an talented child and a kind giving adult. You can’t ask for anything more!
well... she could be a spirit guide....but i already have Donna Douglas for that role so...
Happy....
I don’t remember asking for anything 😂
As a child I watched her every Saturday and tried to mimic her dance moves. I absolutely adored her and wanted to meet her. I read her autobiography and followed her political career. She was a light and hope for our country during the wars and continued to shine all the way through her life. I have the Shirley Temple collection and still watch them with my grandchildren. I can't wait to meet her in heaven. I'm sure she's still dancing and singing and shining a bright light. I don't have one favorite movie, I love them all!❤ There has never been anyone like her and never will be! She was so special and talented!
I loved her in so many of her films. But “The Little Princess” was my favorite. When she finds her father at the end, it always brings tears to my eyes.
I love that movie The Little Princess l have watched it about 7 times as well. And l have it on my play list to save. Also have it on a DVD and VHS tape. Good movie!
I cried watching that one but my other favorite was Heidi where she was looking for grandfather. Calling
out for her Grand father!.. GRANDFATHER!!!
I loved "The Little Princess" too and "The Blue Bird"
I think the Little Princess was on my fave list, though I was a little kid and rarely made note of titles. We watched them over and over every Sunday, while my Mom ironed ten thousand items for a week's wear by 5 kids+parents. 😳
Is Little Princess the one where she looks for her dad, calling out "Feather! Feather!!" ...? 😂We were just Little kids but did our share of making fun at her strange accent sometimes. She may have been my favorite "Star" as a kid myself.♡
@@youresoakinginit21135 kids are a lot of kids....you must be Catholic...your husband touched you 5 times in your marriage.
I belive this precious little girl was a true genius. To be able to memorize all those movie scripts. She was charming, innocent, beautiful, and there will never be another one like her.
Shirley has a special place in my heart. My mother loved Shirley so I purchased a Shirley Temple doll for one of her birthdays and she love it. I also grew up watching her movies my mother owned back in the 1980's. She was so cute when she was a little girl. Rest In Peace, Shirley Temple Black.
I am 70 years old and I have my Shirley Temple Doll, everything but her clothes, my sister came alone 7 years after me, and she played with her and I don’t know what she did with her clothes. She played with all her dolls naked!
I had a Shirley Temple Doll as a child. I was hit by a car at the age of 5 yrs, NOT seriously hurt, but the driver felt so bad, he bought me a Shirley Temple Doll.
I loved her as a little girl, reruns bc I started watching her at 5 yrs old in 73
I remember ordering a Shirley Temple🧃 as a child when we went out to dinner.
@@gene1012 me too 😂😂😂❤❤❤❤❤
As a child I watched all of her movies and was told many stories about her life by my mom. By the way I was named after her "Shirley". What a great name.😍
She did something we all don’t do . Instead of her downs in life. She turned those downs into positive experiences. Meaning she learned then became strong and learned ..
She moved the world…
We can do the same …
The way they mads her dance nose yo nose with Buddy Ebsen. was. extremely creepy.
Where was her mother?
She was amazing yes it seems she didn't turn to drink and drugs like some former child stars sadly did .
One of my favorite performers and people. She persevered through so much! Long hours of grueling rehearsals, lack of a real childhood, forced to kiss (on the mouth) hundreds of strangers (a lot of them soldiers) for publicity, being the sole breadwinner in her family and then discovering her father stole from her, and her struggle with cancer. She was always positive with that beautiful smile. Thank you Shirley for all the joy you brought us! Blessing us with your one of a kind talent and a wonderful legacy! RIP angel!!!
I have most of her movies on DVDs and truly a Shirley Temple fan. I always admired her and the way she handled herself as a youngster and adult. Too bad the entertainment industry is the way it is yesterday and today that exposes children and adults to abuse. Shirley was a trouper and no one to this day can replace her. She was a person that just kept on giving. God bless her in Heaven.
She's a beautiful person...we need more like Shirley temple..God bless her 😊
Shirley was oneof those you'd rate as the best, both when young and elderly.
Amen to that very well said I to watched her and would try to act her parts as a little girl. My mother didn't allow us to really watch a lot of things on TV but Shirley Temple was a yes for me in our Christian home. My momma let me have that one.🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 R.I.P Shirley Temple forever in my 💜❤️💜
I'm jealous. She was sooo good, she's never been replaced.
I have everyone of her movies. So happy to have some of my past of my childhood. ❤❤
When I was a child, I adored her. I couldn't get enough of her movies, and was so happy when they showed the reruns. To me she was the perfect girl with the perfect life. It wasn't until I was an adult until I found out how she was treated, exploited, and that her childhood was basically non-existent. The studio even made the guest lists for her birthday parties. She had no say-so in anything. But I'm glad that she had a good life once she was out of show business, and I admire her for all the work she did as an adult.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Shirley Temple did get the opportunity to invite her friends over. :) Her dance partner Bill "Bojangles" Robinson and his wife were invited a number of times and visited Shirley at her home. But she was sad when Bill "Bojangles" Robinson told her that she could never come over to his home because it would not be allowed by society (and the studios). I bet that really got her thinking, including becoming as an adult an Ambassador of hope to the World.
I’m 68 now. Since I was 5 Ive been watching every film she ever made. Most of them 4 and 5 times. She helped me hold strong during my turmoiled childhood.I had and will always have great respect and admiration for her! The world lost a beautiful soul when she passed.
My favorite Shirley Temple show ever was Heidi. I watched many of her shows when I was a kid. But, Heidi always remained my favorite. I enjoyed this video and learned things I never knew about her.
In my opinion she was the most beautiful child actress ever! Its good to know her personality was as pure as the characters she played! Im glad she finally found true love & fulfilment in her personal life. She was an advocate & ambassador for those in need. That was her greatest achievement!
RIP Shirley may you be blessed at the resurrection in Jesus Christ's name Amen 🙏🏻♥️

She was a victim of child abuse despite how we want to see this.
I met her in her 60’s when she did her book tour. I got my book signed & a picture with her. She was as charming as she was in the movies. Even after signing books for 2 1/2 hours signing books. I was the last signature. She was also very beautiful. 💖
I always loved and admired her, and now I have a deep, profound respect for her. May she rest in peace. ⚘️
She made the world a better place! ❤ This is what we are here for!

How?
She was a wonderful actress and a beautiful human being. I am glad she got out of that destructive marriage and found someone who made her happy, someone who supported her in her humanitarian efforts. She had a life well lived.
Yes, women who manage to leave a violent man don't get enough credit.
I was born in the 60s. Every weekend my siblings and I would watch her movie 1 after the other. She always filled my heart with joy. Thats the best part of my childhood.
I loved the episode when her Daddy was in service, brought her to the home for girls. When presumed dead, the matron makes her a servant. The man who saw the girls living in dark, cold, Attic. When they return there is food and a fire, satin bedding and robes. I loved that man. Shirley Temple Black, thank you for the joy, and may you RIP 🎥
One of my favorites
Beautiful to have seen the episode recently mentioned🎉
That movie is called The Little Princess
That was one of my favorite episodes too! I also liked the one with Bojangles.
As a kid I very much enjoyed Shirley Temple movies. As a teenager I still liked to watch her movies. As an adult I don't see her movies as often, but my wife of 39 years and I watch Heidi every Christmas, and sometimes in July.
Heidi is one of my all-time faves!
How can u NOT LOVE SHIRLEY TEMPLE?!?! The very first movie that I have ever seen starring her was: "The Littlest Princess"....She was just so amazing in that movie as well as many others!! She always played these characters that u could somehow relate too and always adored, and u always wished u could be like her or have a friend just like her!! She was the very first doll I remember having being gifted to me by my mother's brother. I have one like it today but.lost the original one due to my parents splitting up and moving lots. Polka dots of red on white organza. She's always been a favorite of mine. My heart swells for her.❤❤
One of the best movies ever made I still cry when her dad finally recognizes her as his daughter. She really was amazing. My mom & grandma loved her & I've probably seen every one of her movies, I didn't like that they kept portraying her as a 3 yr old as she got to be to old & to tall for some of those roles although I think she herself may have said that in an interview I once saw.
I loved Shirley Temple, she was the cutest little star ever. She was very talented and charming. How can anyone not love this little girl?❤❤❤
God bless this woman. She was a gem to the end of her life, and a shining example of how we should all be loving through it all.
Loved her as a kid... Someone gave me a double album if her songs when I was about 22. Adorable, inspiring, and really lived in a state of positivity that should be an example to all of us!
The best part is she managed to not make it toxic positivity. She could talk about the negatives too without sugaring it up too much.
A most wonderful soul and an angel to humanity. RIP Shirley Temple
What an Icon. I thought she was fantastic, such a gentle soul and remarkable woman. God Bless Shirley Temple. ❤❤
Women from them were something else! As an actress, she knew people took cues off her, so that strong positivity helped during the depression and after... Amazing women
I absolutely adored and cherished Shirley Temple growing up, now, always & forever. She was the cutest, most precious little girl and beautiful lady. A national treasure and a hero of mine. She is so lovable and inspiring. Thank you for making this video to honor her. Boy, did she endure and put up with a lot. Her example of hard work & positivity is so commendable. A one of a kind rare gem. 💛🧡💚
Those were good days for me as a young kid, Saturday or Sunday afternoon watching a Shirley Temple movie in the early 60s! She was a big memory of my own childhood. Thanks Shirley!
Same here.
Me too. My first hearing of Shirley Temple was while watching tv at Granny’s house. A commercial came on for a Shirley Temple movie. I asked,” Who’s Shirley Temple?” And Granny replied that she was a wonderful and extremely talented little girl. I didn’t see the show. In fact I didn’t see any of her movies until the 70s. But then, because of what Granny had said, I searched out the movies when I had a daughter. I’ve ended up buying all the videos and now I also own a few composition Shirley dolls. I’ve been a fan Since the first watched movie, and mourn her loss, but always celebrate her life.
I was a huge Shirley Temple fan when younger, watching all her movies, listening to her album and of course having a Shirley Temple doll ❤️.. What a beautiful, talented and very strong lady she was. To survive the traps of Hollywood and become a very successful, strong and admirable woman is testament to her intelligence and resilience. She was truly one of a kind and was such a shining light for the world, bringing joy, hope and encouragement to millions around the world. Thanks for everything Shirley.. We'll always love you and you are sadly missed ❤️🌹
A real star, bringing brightness and laughter into every life that know her. It's amazing how she handled her "after limelight" life, and went on to a successful marriage and career. Awesome for a child star.
I grew up watching Shirley Temple movies. I’m now 53 and I still love them.
She made every Sunday morning before church my favorite time of the week! I remember being really little, 3-4 years old, when I started watching her and fell in love! I shortly learned every song and dance and happily joined her in her episodes. Then I drove my parents crazy walking around the house performing them all the time. 😂 She was always so very beautiful, inside and out! What an incredible life of service she led. In the end, I believe that’s what we all should be hoping we can say for ourselves. In reality, few do it correctly. Shirley did. ❤
I was born a few decades after Shirley Temple's stardom, but I did get to see a few clips here and there. I'm happy I watched this, now I can go and search out those movies and really enjoy who she was. Blessings, Shirley Temple. Thank you.
My wife loves Shirley Temple watched every Sunday afternoon with her mom when she was little. She wishes they would put her shows on again. Loved this autobiography. Hope she one Sunday sees one of her movies again.Thank you again, on behalf of my wife
It's hard to choose a favorite Shirley Temple movie, but I can say The Little Princess really touched my heart with how she was treated by the schoolteacher and the snobbish girls attending the school with her, then seeing her vindicated when Queen Victoria actually helps her with looking for her father in the hospital and she finds him just before they are ready to transport him. Her friend at the school who quit to join the royal guards was at the hospital when Shirley found her dad which I found to be very fitting. The movie is a little different from the book, but still very heart warming. The next door neighbors who saw how cold she and Becky were and cared enough to get them warm bedding and a nice breakfast. Just so touching. I loved the entire movie.
The little princess was the first movie of Shirley Temple that I saw too. I adored that movie and have memorized many of the things she said in the movie, like when her dad leaves her at the school. It was a touching movie that had a huge impact on me. She inspired me to be sweeter, living and kind and also to smile and be happy no matter what was going on. I just didn’t master it as well as she did. ❤️❤️❤️
A national treasure!! Love you Shirley! Thank you for being a special part of my childhood. What a cute little girl you were, literally a living doll. Then as a grown up, what a beautiful lady you were. But your biggest beauty was your heart and soul. I'm so glad your blueprint remained strong. Rest In Paradise ❤🌹❤
She always amazed me with her unique talent at her young age, and although she was 25 years older than me, I always looked up to her for her brilliant talent and charismatic charm.

Thank you, we really enjoyed this video about Shirley Temple. My favorite fact was hearing that she got on so well with Bill Robinson. I always loved her scenes with him, and their chemistry seemed so genuine. We were glad to find out it was.
A fascinating little girl. She was important in our family home. We all loved her for her smile and kindness.
As a kid in the sixties, thirty years after Shirley’s original filming I remember thinking she was happy and having fun. Truly gifts passed on to the daily hopes and dreams to Americas youth during daily life and turbulent times. A gift for everyone!
I loved all of Shirley's movies. She was a great little actress. I also like the way she stepped out of her comfort zone and become an ambassador for women everywhere when she told of her cancer. Letting women know it was okay to talk about subjects that would help other women understand what they were going through is ok to talk about. Sadly missed, she was the best thing to come along with her music and dance to righten up our days. Love you, Shirly Temple. I still love seeing her movies.😍😍😇😇😻
Sometime on the late 70’s my kids came running into the room I was in “there is a little girl on tv, she can sing and dance and everything!” Yep! It was Shirley.
I loved Shirley Temple. She was my idol when I was young and I think every thing about her saved me from despondency when I was a child. Thank you Shirley; you are a Wonder...
I remember watching her as a child. She was an amazing person, very inspirational.
Shirley Temple was remarkable in everything she did, never mind her age! I admire this woman to thus day!
Shirley's professional persona exemplified what little girls of her time looked up to becoming...a sweet child, wholesome, kind, loveable, friendly and full of grace. Oh, my! How things have changed on the big and small screens. Our kids and grandchildren have few, if any such role models these days. But what's really remarkable is that Shirley's professional persona was just a foretelling of the wonderful woman she would grow to become.
R.I.P. Shirley ❤️ You gave so much to so many for so long. You are missed.
I remember meeting Shirley as a child in the 70s at a friend's house in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The friend's mom was a book dealer and an avid collector of historical Czechoslovakian books, so I guess that's how she became friends with her. I wish I had been more in awe and said something to her, but as kids, we just continued playing as if there was nothing unusual. I do remember her being a very sweet lady though. I wish I had asked my mother about that visit as she was there also, but I had put it out of my memory over the years and now my mother is unable to speak or write and the friend's mother passed away years ago.
Wow! What an honor! I was a member of the ST club and hoped to someday meet her but never did. I did get to meet Sybil Jason, the actress who played Becky in the Little Princess.
She was an adorable child and a great actress ❤️❤️
My goodness!! So much wonderful info & footage. Thank you so much. I was born in '64, so I was obsessed with her (watched her movies on Sunday afternoon TV, endlessly listened to an LP of her vintage hits) as a kid. My maiden name was Temple, so one of my cherished autographs was one she sent me in 1974 - "To Ellen Temple from Shirley Temple Black." She was a goddess & an inspiration. ✌️♥️
My kids grew up on Shirley Temple movies, dolls and they have toys, cups of all her movies, and a whole collection of memorabilia for my granddaughter. I still have a lot of the Shirley stuff here. She was a joy to our hearts. My husband and I used to watch the movies with the kids. I have all her movies, and 3 or 4 dolls.
Back in the middle 60’s I worked in a sweet little dress shop in Menlo Park , California. Shirley Temple Black bought her college aged daughter’s clothes . I had the joy of helping her. She was a delight and so kind to work with. I was a 21 yr old and I admired Ms. Temple. Sweet memories.
I love Shirley's movies and have watched most of them several time they are truly timeless. A great lady in spite of everything she endured she rose above it.
I watched Shirley Temple movies and loved them. Thanks to her daughters for helping shine the light on the Hollywood pedophile monsters.
Shirley did that herself.
I absolutely loved Shirley Temple & all her movies when I was a child. She inspired my love of dancing. I took ballet & tap dancing as a child and young adult. I was often told that I was a Shirley Temple look- a - like as a child. However, my hair was naturally curly so my mother would only have to brush my hair around her fingers into the little pin-curl ringlets to match Shirley Temple’s. I have such fond memories of dancing along to all her movies. Those were the best of days!!!
I had great admiration for Shirley Temple. Thank you for this.
Shirley Temple was definitely an inspiration for all young girls. Too bad our young children now don’t have such an amazing idol!
I watched all of her movies when I was young. She was such a delight! Her smile was infectious! I was impressed with her life’s story. She was a beautiful soul even in her old age!!!🥰🥰🥰
I loved Shirley Temple and the movies she was in. The adorable innocent child that had behind the scenes dark secrets. It's a shame there was exploits behind the camera.
In my Early 20’s (I’m now in my 40’s)I worked in a rich area in Ca for a World Renown Retinal Specialist & She was one of Our Patients🤗 She was a Nice & Still Very well put together Women!!!
Very Cool, May She Rest in Peace✝️🤍🕊️
I loved all Shirley's films. She was so talented and an amazing bright light.
She was so sought-after! I remember the movies shown for only kids at the Palace Theater in Hilo, Hawaii each Saturday morning for only 10cents admission that included LooneyTunes Cartoons, current Movietone News, & doulble features (usually a WWII war film & a Western). On special occasions a Shirley Temple movie with an older re-run was shown. That was special! I was born in 1949; it was like growing up with her. She was a favorite star in the golden age of movies from the major studios, in an age of values that entertained, with all major stars & supporting character actors & casts. With the advent of TV, movie stars of her era evolving, gradually transitioning with innocence gradually diminishing, too. The Vietnam War began, TV dominated & influenced society in many ways beginning in the 1960's. She transitioned into a teen and became a young mother, a respected wife & diplomat of noted international influence. She lived a exemplorary life, & people were saddened at her passing, but she left a a wonderful legacy!
I seen everyone of her movies as a child and loved them all. She was my favorite .❤❤
No child star comes close to this beautiful little wholesome entertaining, breathtaking, memorising, child of the Heavens above... loved her movies, it was in a day of ignorance. There will NEVER BE ANOTHER.
I loved Shirley Temple growing up. Had a Shirley doll. Had albums and watched every movie but especially remember watching them on snowy days. Fond memories ❤️
A beautiful child and adult both inside and out. A genuinely caring person! She will always be missed .
As a young boy I was captivated by Shirley. She autographed her biography for me in 1988 when in NYC. I also have an autographed collage movie poster from her. I also have a collection of her glassware, dolls and books. Shirley was enchanting.
I am glad she found friendship and happiness. Her acting made you forget your troubles.
I had fun introducing my 4-year-old granddaughter to Shirley Temple via UA-cam videos of clips from her movies. She loves her!
I have always thought that the real travesty was the fact that these bigwig executives never had to answer for their piggish abusive behavior...it's sickening what they did to Shirley and many other child stars...absolutely sickening. Bless her soul. I'm sorry that the world let you down and didn't stand up for you when you needed it.
Shirley was the same age as my Mom. I grew up watching her movies and yes, I started tap dancing when I was three and continued training until I was 15. I loved it. My favorite movie of hers was The Littlest Rebel and tap dancing with Bill Robinson. Just a super classic. She was a super star in everything she did. Class act for sure.
Yes, I was raised in Hollywood and every time I went to the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel I would walk up and down that stairway and remember how sweet the two of them were together, tiny Shirley Temple and amazing dancer Bill Robinson--and her keeping up with every step! A glorious scene at a time when that was something you just didn't see. Rest in Paradise Shirley and Bojangles and thank you for all the joy you gave so many people.
Her movies were joyful and you never were tired of watching them over and over again 😊
I loved watching her movies On Saturday afternoons. The Little Rebel was my favorite. This was the early 1960s. Thanks for posting this bio.
