- Shirley Jane Temple Black (April 23, 1928 - February 10, 2014) was an American actress, singer, dancer, businesswoman, and diplomat who was Hollywood's number one box-office draw as a child actress from 1934 to 1938. As an adult, she was named United States ambassador to Ghana and to Czechoslovakia, and also served as Chief of Protocol of the United States.
Temple began her film career at the age of three in 1931. Two years later, she achieved international fame in Bright Eyes, a feature film designed specifically for her talents. She appeared in 29 films from the ages of 3 to 10 but in only 14 films from the ages of 14 to 21. Temple retired from film in 1950 at the age of 22.
In 1958, Temple returned to show business with a two-season television anthology series of fairy tale adaptations. She made guest appearances on television shows in the early 1960s and filmed a sitcom pilot that was never released. She sat on the boards of corporations and organizations including The Walt Disney Company, Del Monte Foods, and the National Wildlife Federation.
She began her diplomatic career in 1969, when she was appointed to represent the United States at a session of the United Nations General Assembly, where she worked at the U.S. Mission under Ambassador Charles W. Yost. In 1988, she published her autobiography, Child Star.
Temple was the recipient of numerous awards and honors, including the Kennedy Center Honors and a Screen Actors Guild Life Achievement Award.
She died on February 10, 2014, at her home in Woodside, California of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease only 2 months before her 86th birthday.
One of the very nicest and most gracious people of all times. I wish I could have met her.

I've loved Shirley Temple (Black) my entire life. I grew up watching her movies. And then when she was in most of the movies in her teens. She was a triple threat - beauty, brains, immense talent! And she was my idea of the All-American girl (even into adulthood) with her kindness, elegance, poise, warmth, and generosity. She was one of a kind! Yep, they broke the mold when they made her. What a gal!

That is lovely, thank you. She was born when my parents were born. It feels like a time sequence of their lives. As a child she was unique and amazing - there will never be one, not before nor since, as good as she was at what she did.

Just like Elizabeth Taylor we watched her mature in front of the cameras from a child star to an adult looking ever beautiful tho Shirley discontinued her acting career to be a diplomat. She seemed to cope with her stardom fairly well compared to others. Her movies will live on. RIP Shirley 🌟
@Its Sad poor Judy Garland was not as lucky as Shirley and Elizabeth Taylor.who died years before them .She was a great talented singer but sad that the people of the studios destroyed her and got her addicted on pills with her mother knowing all because ot the 💰💰💰💰💰💰💰Judy was making and her mother and then step dad where enjoying the high life while judy did all the hard work to keep them living the expensive lifestyles of judys 💰💰💰💰.which happened to alot of child stars when as they aged ended up with not a cent broke all because of greed from their parents but at that time thèy were to young to notice because they were getting alot of 📸📸📸📸📸🎬🎥📽🎞🎬📡📸😁🎥📸💐💐💐💐💐💐📡📸 and the best of as they taught everything going to fancy parties which as they thought were their friends until their contract was up or were to old for parts they once played and discarded for new younger children and when thinking they had money invested from their acting careers over the years to find out they were penny less like atot of other stars whos parents enjoyed living the high life doing nothing while their child was working morning noon and night and tutured by the studio and controlled by them and their parents where only seing at the oscars or events for best child stars.Id Say ThatvWas The Only Time the money the child star made was spent on the best of outfits for their child and of couse them too and the cars that were the in thing then driving by their drivers of course paid by there childs money.its sad like ;Jackie Coogan whao was in the film The Kid With Charlie Chaplin; the same thing happened to him. Rest in peace to him he died a very poor man and never saw a penny of what he made from any of his movies he was in. Shirley aged so well and was always so recognisable. Remember that until she was 16 Shirley was always a year younger than she actually was due to the fact that her Mother wanted to keep her looking like a child for as long as she could. It must have been quite a surprise to her to eventually find out her true age.

No she looked like a teenager, maybe the style makes her “appear about 18” at 13 but honestly she had a tendency to look a lot younger than her age. She was virtually unchanged between 20 up until 40, imagine being blessed with such genetics! Truly a beautiful woman that she was!
