We like 36 tooth sprockets, you do have to pedal but not much. We also get 35-38mph on long straightaways. Of course these are 2 cycles. Thanks for the vid, and can't wait for the shifter kit. I've wanted to do one for years.
You got the right idea with the shift kit. I built one of the bikes in 2009 with an 8 gear cassette 66 cc angle plug head milled too .008 clearance with a dellarto 14/12 carb balanced crank lightened rod auto clutch and a pipe from a yz85 running 110 vp race fuel and hit 91 mph within one mile. It was the scariest bike I ever built. Somewhere I have video of it. I couldn't of done it though without the shift kit. Thanks for the vid. God bless.
Very informative. I started with a 48 tooth hub mounted sprocket and got 22 mph on the flats. I just put on a 40 tooth yesterday. There was a minor loss of power on takeoff but now I'm getting 26 mph. My neighborhood is pretty hilly so I'll probably stick with that one.
I need help, i have a 4 stroke kit too and i have it mounted in my bike, but the little sprocket attached to the transmission is attached on a shaft way too far out from the actual transmission, resulting in the small sprocket being so far towards the center of the bike that the chain literally rubs against the tire and the main bike frame itself... Not sure how to move the gear but I'd really like to know how to move it back so that i can actually use this thing
What if you chained the engine to the smallest gear up front, and had the standard chain on your largest gear running to the back, and you could shift the gears on the back?
I have a shift kit on my beach cruiser with a 4 stroke. You made a comment about the wider shaft for the crank being a plus. Not so with my shift kit. The torque from the engine bent the shaft causing very severe runout on the sprocket. The chain kept derailing from the sprocket to the jack shaft. Also the chain kept derailing off the sprocket to the rear wheel. I put the short crank shaft and shorter crank arms on it and had to file the top of the left crank arm for clearance to the 4G transmission. I really don't have any runout. Another issue I have is that the chain to the rear wheel keeps breaking. It was not designed to handle the load from the engine. Keep a spare chain and chain breaker on the bike at all times. Just a tip. Oh I just bought a bicycle just like yours and a 7G kit. I'll be using a 8 speed internal hub. I'll be able to use a 415h chain and the 7G looks narrower than the 4 G so I may have better luck with clearance. Also got a 6 volt dynamo hub for lights and both hubs have drum brakes. It takes more pressure to stop with the drum brakes but they will last a lot longer than rim or disc brakes and better performance in adverse conditions..
Have an 80cc with an 8 speed cassette had some big issue crushing 5 new derailleurs keep getting into my spokes/rear wheel now running the stock cassette on my and I just hook my drive chain to the 3rd wheel cassette on the 8 speed it's a bit of headache with the. Derailleurs cause there's to much tension from the motor it bangs the drive chain in a forward pull motion and causes the derailleur to slam into the spockes so I am thinking of going with an IGH hub but there are pros/cons about them want to find a good quality and strong igh for my gearing
Really like your personal build. If your interested in looks changes a long frame bike like that would look great if it appeared lower. Drop the seat, get a different stem and an actual motorcycle gas tank that fits over the top tube. There are ways to keep it comfortable while making it attractive at the same time. My board track racer indian is suprisingly comfortable to ride. Thanka for sharing!
I'm considering a frame with a similar rear suspension. Do you have any gross vehicle weight info on that spring? Also of interest would be the max rider weight for the extended width crank set. I weigh 250. Thanks for any info you may share.
Could someone please help me with a question about the engine's. Are the, head and jug combination off the " BT80 " and the head and jug combination off the " BT100 " interchangeable. 🤔🤔. Thank-you in advance.
Hi I've found you to be very helpful thanks I have a question for you and I was hoping you could help me out I'm building # 39 right now and I want to install a Jack shaft the on the bike I'm building its a 28 speed bike 29 in rims how would I install Jack shaft thanks for your help once again foulbikes
I notice that you have a stationary coaster roller on the chain. There is no need for a movable tensioner with this setup? My first version (which wasn't particularly successful) I had a movable on one both top and bottom. Perhaps that contributed to my chain issues? Your bikes look great!
Hello mr adam great videos about gearing, wiil you do a next videos how to instal rear disk brakes to motorized bikes with old frames without disc calipter sopourth
How about playing in between the top bar and the curved bars to give it the look of a gas tank. I'm considering doing that so I can hide my CDI box and boost bottle in there.
Sounds like your clutch may be locked up in some way. Try taking off the clutch cover on the right side of the engine and taking off the butterfly nut and the screw that keeps that in place, then the clutch plate should come off, after that reinstall the clutch plate by tightening the butterfly nut about hand tight and putting the retaining screw back where it was. If after this your clutch slips when the clutch is dumped you can take the clutch cover off again and tighten the butterfly nut.
Those are some awesome looking bikes very nice job. I’ll try to get ahold of you for some parts like you’ve used, thank you very much for the information.
How high can you jump one of those before parts start falling off? Just kidding, great video. You've inspired me. In your opinion, who makes the best 49cc 4 stroke engine? Reliability wise.
What size is that sprocket adaptor from your bike ? I'm trying to motorize my single speed beach cruiser that has a coaster brake like yours ! Nice bike BTW!!!
Use a bicycle cassette transmission on the wheel plus the cvt . I know it can be done because I've done it with a predator 212, I got it over 80 mph, ofcoarse you'd never have to go that fast if you didn't want to, and it has great low gearing . The way I set mine up it no longer had pedals .
I have never searched for just fenders for a bike at all, especially for a 29" bike before. I think your best bet might be your local bike shop. As far as the exhaust you can pick those up most everywhere. I would recommend Sick Bike Parts though as they seem to have really good service.
If I buy a shift kit on a single speed beach cruiser .something like a 3 speed hub will that work on the engine. .I am clear on how most people have made there bikes shift but need to know if it's possible with a 3 speed hub ty
Sinister Custom Cycles the bike im looking at getting is it good? it looks very identical to yours in this video the all black one. it has a 49cc 4 cycle motor. It has the following up grades. CSL....clam shell large sprocket adapter, keeps the rear sprocket secure, SPLT spring loaded chain tensioner, removes vibration, SFMUF ... steel flex muffler....front and rear hand brakes and coaster brake. Extra large gas tank at 1.5 gallons not sure the teeth count.
Sinister CustomCycles Here's an idea 🖕You have built 2 bikes in your lifetime Adam so please stop w the "Sinister Custom" Go get some more Lefty Tattoos. 🐸
I found the aftermarket transmission from bike berry is so smooth and does drop your top speed but requires no pedaling from stop. Im 175 pounds 44 tooth rear sprocket.
Iv had the same idea with the switch, but at the same time, how are you gana peddle ? This is my dilemma. And I think I have an idea, I just can't post it
I'm building a 4 stroke 20 inch fat tire ebike. I figure if I use electric with gas for acceleration I should have pretty decent 0 to 30 even with a 36t sprocket.
do you make one ton version LOL? all kidding aside I'm a big guy and have had one before with the 48 tooth rear sprocket and my son is at the age where he wants to ride is bike 2 to 3 miles at a time my weight class is 380lbs and looking for idea's and prices
what I did was put a sprocket from another bike on the left side to transfer the power to the right side so I can still pedel my engine is a post hole auger with 45 foot pounds of torque from harbor freight but I get a lot of stickers in my tires
my 26" bike will do 20 mph at 5,000 rpm.after break in i will run it up to see what it will do.i have a 44 -tooth, 4-stroke with a 5-1 reduction belt pulley.i might make a jack shaft so i can make use of the 5-speeds.we have a lot of hills here in western nc.
i got a beach crusier but It wont allow me to use a 38 tooth sprocket. the chain always falls off and throws my tensioner pulley into the spokes. idk why though i have adjusted my tensioner so may ways. any ideas why i cant get the 38t sprocket to stay on track with engine?
Luke Biz Is the chain too long? long chain means more whip as less of it is supported by the sprockets. A chain can run a little out of line but if it's not within the tolerance of the chain it will cause problems. I would also check if you are getting flex on any of the components.
Flex here and their effects it,, Dead true alignment effects it ,,,. New chains do stretch,,. Adjust the tensioner several times,,. Then drill 1/8 inch hole through the tensioner and the outer part of a lower frame rail,,. Or swing arm if it was a motorcycle,, Then put in a s 12 self-tapping screw when it's dead perfect,,,. This will keep it from turning and making its way to the spokes,,,. !!! Blue and red Loctite on everything,,,. And lock washers sometimes double nuts and lock washers,,, !!! The factory Greece is garbage,,,. Repack all bearings with blue Valvoline high speed wheel bearing Grease and adjust the thrust also head bearings,,. True and balance the wheels,,,. It takes a jackshaft to get the power to the other side,,. Special crank and sprocket assembly,,. Before you can get power to the rear gears,, or sprockets,,. Hahaha,,,. !!!
Question: i put my engine on a mutli gear mountain bike ( i had to give it some hammer time to fit ) and i put my gears at a medium resistence but its nearly impossible to pedal at all is there somthing i can do to make it actually pedal again?
hey bud, you should link your FB page, back here, for more potential contacts..thanks for the gearing info: I'm accumulating information like a sponge these last few days before my bike comes on tues..
I want to buy a kit like this, like an 80dc or 49cc, what kind of mods would you recommend for this...I was thinking heads, intake, exhaust, and valves...any more good mods I could do??
I am a stunt rider and I have just bought a 80/66cc two stroke engine. with the stock sprockets could I easily pick up the front end? or should I invest in a larger sprocket?
CAN YOU INSTALLED DISC BRAKES ON THESE BIKES? I HAVE ONE I BUILT LIKE YOURS. YOU WERE RIGHT ON ABOUT HOW BAD THE PARTS ARE AND HOW SOFT THE METAL IS. BUT WANT TO BUILD ONE WITH DISC BRAKES.
Hello! You can add disc brakes on these, or at least a disc brake. While I have seen some people add front and rear I don't see any easy bolt on kits for front and back disc brakes only the front. For the front you will need a wheel that has a hub that accepts the disc and then a fork that has an adapter for the caliper. MBREBEL.com has these parts.
Hello! I didn't cut it down, however I did bend the fender in a little where the path of the chain was to give me a little more clearance. Bending it inward allowing me to maintain the rigidity of the fender and also save me from repainting it.
@@chironkeller6417 yes thanks for the advice only 3 years later. 😐 I already made 2 of them by now I got the engines off eBay on 2 stroke and the other 4 stroke there were nice while they last. I got me a car now 😁
I know this is crazy old, but how about a Predator 212cc engine? Im considering another build using one of those myself. You could also upgrade your carb. There are adapters now that allow you to use pretty well any 2 stroke carb on the HS 4-strokes. Using one myself on one of my bikes and its really nice. Depending on what carb you go with, you can add quite a lot of power. Also can get a more performance exhaust and exhaust gasket. Youve got a belt drive which is really nice. Tough to find these days. You could also change the frame, go with one of those frames with the built in gas tank. They look really nice.
better check the laws in your state. Most states regulate the size and power which can be used on bicycles. In Idaho anything over 50 CC must be titled, registered, and insured. Operator much have a valid driver's license with a motorcycle endorsement. The bicycle will also need lights, horns, mirrors, and turn signals that meet federal highway safety specifications.
@@andys4971 Actually, I just ran the numbers. Assuming you got 30mph originally with a 44T, gearing to a 24T would in fact result in an increase to exactly 55mph.Here's the Math> 10T/44T = .22727272727273 (old sprocket) 10T/24T = .41666666666667 (new sprocket) New gearing divided by old gearing = increase in percentage. So, new/old = 1.8333333333334 or an extra 83.334%. So @ 30mph X 1.8333333333334= 55.0000000000007 JS
Tom_E Calm_7 your math is right but there’s other factors you gotta look at too, resistance, loss of power in the gears. You’d have to be realllllly light to get 55 mph out of one of these 4 strokes
+soartothesky Hello Soar! Thank you very much for this question as it has been coming up more and more so I'm actually going to be doing on a video around this within the next couple days. I've never found any options for different sizes for the the clutch side, only the rear sprocket. With a 4-stroke, my 165lb carcass on it in normal riding conditions I got anywhere from 135-160mpg. As far as speed and torque goes the 36 tooth got me about 31-33mph and okay torque and a 44 tooth dropped my top speed to about 21-23mph but gave me great torque. I hope this helps! Any other questions feel free to ask! Either comment here or message me direct at sinistercustomcycles@gmail.com or Facebook.com/sccmn. Happy holidays!
Dam they're slow. I have almost the identical set up as the girls bike but I get a top speed of 30mph on a Huffy Nel lusso with a Huasheng 142 on flat ground and I weigh 270! It climbs great. How did you tube the carb? I run a similar transmission with dual chains. You should get a better exhaust set up.
Hello! There is something called a shift kit that allows you to use switch the drive from the engine over to your regular bike gearing so whether you pedal or use the engine you're utilizing your OEM bike chain and gears. This only works with certain engines and I have never tried it simply for the fact of I was extremely leery of the standard bike chain and gears holding up with all the torque from the engine. If you have any other questions feel free to email at sinistercustomcycles@gmail.com
im gonna explain it in a easy way. depends on the terrain you're ridding on. when you're going up hill, you'll burn more fuel. on the straight away you'll burn some fuel. going down hill, you won't be burning any fuel. if you drive it like you're on a race track, you'll be refueling often. that's the best answer you'll find.
There is a difference in the Reduction Drives between the two Bikes ; one is belt and the other chain. The Reduction Drives could be 5 to 1 or 6 to 1; maybe the same. This was not taken into account when discussing Sprocket size on the rear Wheel, drive ratio. This can be checked with the covers off, count how many rotations the engine turns to one rotation of the output . This difference will also effect the Engine output.
The belt is 5:1 and the chain is 3:1. The 3:1 is gonna be slightly faster than the other one. I however go for the belt trans just for reliable and maintenance free purpose. I got a 36t and about half throttle going 20+ miles an hour. I plan on getting a 28t. That way, I can cruise without redlining the engine. Torque is already there for me.
The Shade Tree Fix-it Man, I'm almost 100% sure it's a 415. They are pretty much the standard chain used with this setup. In some small instances the #41 is used.
+Eminent Bastards well on my bike with a 44 tooth sprocket I get a easy 45kmh. I think the rule of thumb is 1mph per tooth that is removed. so it would be very fast for a bike frame lol ( that is only if your engine had the power) it would be hard to get going with the engine alone tho you'd for sure have to pedal to get it really going. I wouldn't go lower than 36 tooth on the rear just because a 60cc engine won't push much past that
I was thinking about doing the very same thing lol. Think it is feasible to be able to start from dead stop on it, just gotta make sure the pulley in your transmission is on the larger side to make up some torque. Also, if you can swap out the 11t with a 9t output sprocket it would help boost your ratio a little as well
Well you will need to get up hills. But some where in thirties of tooth sproket. That should propell a person of 160 to 180 around 34mph and still allow climb on small up hills, medium to large Hills you will need to pedal. Unless you can get an 8hp 4 stroke 80cc, with a very top line carb and tube pipe exaust. I have yet to find one that would fit a regular bike frame.
I need some help. I just finished my second build (2 stroke) I went to adjust the clutch and the smaller gear sticks almost a whole inch from the larher gear. My other 2 stroke was not like that and all the pics on the internet where the same as the first build. Please excuse my noobness but i wont ride the second bike now due to this. So is it normal? if not how do i fix it without causing more problems?
Henry Chuong I always go through Manic Mechanic out of Florida. If I remember right his website is mmbikeparts.com. If for some reason I'm wrong, which has happened once before lol, just google manic mechanic. Great service and super fast shipping!
Sinister Custom Cycles Hey, the one with the orange wheels, how much for a copy? forget what I said on your page, I would like this one better, and see if can remove that handle, and replace it with the one on this (custommotoredbicycles.com/yahoo_site_admin/assets/images/IMG_9584.98111739_std.jpg) and (custommotoredbicycles.com/yahoo_site_admin/assets/images/IMG_9582.98111648_std.jpg) .if the price is over then $900, would you be willing to bargain? remember my limit is $900.00 ~Tobi
Hello Tobi! Regarding your handlebar question, you should be able to get that set up from any of your local bike shops. I don't build bikes to sell specifically. I'll build myself or a friend a bike and then when I think of something different or better, I'll sell mine and build a different one. As far as copying the GTS build (orange wheels) for $900, my build cost without labor, was $945.00. I would highly recommend saving up a little more and putting an extra few hundred in to something that in the long run will actually save you more money.
hay bro got I'm messing with when done I'll show....I've seen and no somethings that I can tell. for now there has to be away to take peddles out concert something were there's a sprocket between peddle shaft that way it's powered closer. chain to sprocket it directly power the true front sprocket....

Where can I get 1of them motors
i got a beach crusier but It wont allow me to use a 38 tooth sprocket. the chain always falls off and throws my tensioner pulley into the spokes. idk why though i have adjusted my tensioner so may ways. any ideas why i cant get the 38t sprocket to stay on track with engine?
realign the sprocket to the engine sprocket and/ or add another chain guide near where it comes off.
What he said. Your alignment is off. Also I would go with a frame mounted chain tensioner so you don't have to worry about it moving.
Pull the clutch in
hey bud, you should link your FB page, back here, for more potential contacts..thanks for the gearing info: I'm accumulating information like a sponge these last few days before my bike comes on tues..
What if u extended the front forks. That would look pretty bad ass
I want to buy a kit like this, like an 80dc or 49cc, what kind of mods would you recommend for this...I was thinking heads, intake, exhaust, and valves...any more good mods I could do??
is it possible to get a top speed of 50mph?? with gears??
I am a stunt rider and I have just bought a 80/66cc two stroke engine. with the stock sprockets could I easily pick up the front end? or should I invest in a larger sprocket?
"I am a stunt rider"
LOL
I can't tell but did you have to cut down your rear finder to insure the chain didn't hit it?
Hello! I didn't cut it down, however I did bend the fender in a little where the path of the chain was to give me a little more clearance. Bending it inward allowing me to maintain the rigidity of the fender and also save me from repainting it.
where can i purchase these bikes from with out having to assemble the entire bike myself. please let me know im interested in buying
It only takes a couple hours with a few basic tools.
@@chironkeller6417 yes thanks for the advice only 3 years later. 😐 I already made 2 of them by now I got the engines off eBay on 2 stroke and the other 4 stroke there were nice while they last. I got me a car now 😁
@@martelbentley Tell me which is better 4 stroke or 2 strock
@@chironkeller6417 2 STROKE
+jburr36
Same in Washington but anything over 49cc
What motors are these? I want to put a motor on my mountain bike but I don't know whats good and what isn't.
look into 2 stroke for a mountain bike as the frame may not be big enough to accommodate a 4 stroke kit.
I have heard of 24T sproket and getting 55mph
With a 4 stroke, I call BS
what about 16T lol? I ordered a Raleigh fixie bike and it already had an extra 16T sprocket on the rear wheel, thinking about just using it
@@andys4971 Actually, I just ran the numbers.
It really depends on your weight, im a bigger guy so a 16 tooth may not even move me
Tom_E Calm_7 your math is right but there’s other factors you gotta look at too, resistance, loss of power in the gears. You’d have to be realllllly light to get 55 mph out of one of these 4 strokes
Motor bikes are the most fuel efficient vehicles ever 150 mpg thats alot more then an car
Better than a Prius.
Energy consumption on ratios? Increasing front decreasing back. Any idea?
Happy holidays!
how important is the chain guide because that's where I've been having problems, I want just go without it
I think it's safer without it because some times in can go into the spokes causing a crash I'd recommend just shortening the chain
You should get a better exhaust set up.
can u use a bike original shifting to shift the gearing on the bike?
I'd like a Micargi Cheetah to build , am unable to find the bike any where !!! PLEASE HELP
Bikebuyers.com should have them
where do u purchase different size rear sprockets
Go to mmbikeparts.com
The best question, more MPG more torque? or more speed More MPG?
More speed would be more MPG
im gonna explain it in a easy way. depends on the terrain you're ridding on. when you're going up hill, you'll burn more fuel. on the straight away you'll burn some fuel. going down hill, you won't be burning any fuel. if you drive it like you're on a race track, you'll be refueling often. that's the best answer you'll find.
What bike
What size chains are you using? #35 or #40-41?
The Shade Tree Fix-it Man, I'm almost 100% sure it's a 415. They are pretty much the standard chain used with this setup. In some small instances the #41 is used.
What if I use the flip flop hub on a fixie with 16 teeth on it?
+Eminent Bastards have fun getting it started lol
+Jordan Malfara but in all seriousness how fast will it go and how long will it take to get there?
+Eminent Bastards well on my bike with a 44 tooth sprocket I get a easy 45kmh. I think the rule of thumb is 1mph per tooth that is removed. so it would be very fast for a bike frame lol ( that is only if your engine had the power) it would be hard to get going with the engine alone tho you'd for sure have to pedal to get it really going. I wouldn't go lower than 36 tooth on the rear just because a 60cc engine won't push much past that
+Jordan Malfara thank you!
I was thinking about doing the very same thing lol. Think it is feasible to be able to start from dead stop on it, just gotta make sure the pulley in your transmission is on the larger side to make up some torque. Also, if you can swap out the 11t with a 9t output sprocket it would help boost your ratio a little as well
I have a bike like that , would Bigger gears make it faster on long runs or smaller ?
Bigger equals more torque, smaller equals more speed.
+Zeaiclies cool thanks..need more speed what size you recommend
Well you will need to get up hills.
But some where in thirties of tooth sproket. That should propell a person of 160 to 180 around 34mph and still allow climb on small up hills, medium to large Hills you will need to pedal.
Unless you can get an 8hp 4 stroke 80cc, with a very top line carb and tube pipe exaust. I have yet to find one that would fit a regular bike frame.
+Zeaiclies 8hp 4 stroke 2 cycle 80cc?
uhm a 4 stroke 2 cycle is IMPOSSIBLE it's either 2cycle/stroke or 4cycle/stroke
Robert Tessner
Sorry, my phone made the error and I did not proof read it.
So I'm a bigger fella (280lbs) should I do a 44?
Bigger rear sprocket will pull you along easer, but at a loss of top speed. A smaller rear sprocket will give more speed, but stress your motor more.
what kind of bike do you use?
This was a GTS I believe which I don't think they make anymore. All my other builds are using the Micargi Huntington Extended Frame.
nice bikes
Beau Leavitt Hey thank you for the props!
where can you get the different sprockets from? thanks!
Henry Chuong I always go through Manic Mechanic out of Florida. If I remember right his website is mmbikeparts.com. If for some reason I'm wrong, which has happened once before lol, just google manic mechanic. Great service and super fast shipping!
Thanks. I want speed, Speed and more speed! Lol

Hey, the one with the orange wheels, how much for a copy? forget what I said on your page, I would like this one better, and see if can remove that handle, and replace it with the one on this

and
(custommotoredbicycles.com/yahoo_site_admin/assets/images/IMG_9582.98111648_std.jpg)
.if the price is over then $900, would you be willing to bargain?
remember my limit is $900.00
~Tobi
I see....thanks
I really need to know where to get parts.. seems like a lot of sites are shams.
Or over priced.
hay bro got I'm messing with when done I'll show....I've seen and no somethings that I can tell. for now there has to be away to take peddles out concert something were there's a sprocket between peddle shaft that way it's powered closer. chain to sprocket it directly power the true front sprocket....
I found a 32 once and it looked mini
have you try'd with a 36 tooth
I have with the new 53cc 4 stroke with the belt trans.
if i only ride on smoothe roads would a cranbrook be okay i'm on a rather tight budget so watching money is important
is this legal to drive?..
