    If you look at the hub adapter in this video, it's already slipped and bent the spokes on one side, there's a guy that had a cool idea for preventing this by using a dremel tool to create a groove in both the adapter and the axel and put a key in it so that it can't slip anymore... I also saw a comment on another video where someone asked if you could drill through the adapter and axel to achieve the same thing of not allowing it to slip anymore... but I don't know if that last idea is possible. In any case, here's the video of the keyway mod. ua-cam.com/video/JL28GtEw3LE/v-deo.html

      The key way method is no good hub is to thin. The best way is to sand down the hub mating face so you make it less round so it clamps tighter. Scuff the mating surfaces with course sand paper and use red lock tight on bolts.

    I went ahead and bought one of these as it was the only best option I could find for my bike wheel. I can see that the Adapter fits nicely between the Spokes so it should not have any bent at all. What the VID shows looks to be as if that one had slipped while in use bending those spokes. It makes me wonder as to why the design of this Adapter does not include a Locking Screw to help keep it from slipping. It's design relies just on pressure. Often times when you look at tools and other things where something is clamped on a cylinder even many sprockets themselves, they have a locking screw to help keep it from slipping. So I am a bit tempted to actually just tap a hole in it myself and install a locking screw. I have the tools and skill to do so as it is something I have done before elsewhere. I personally think it may help a lot if slippage is an issue with this adapter. I am still in the process of installing the engine so I have yet to see how well this adapter works and really can not say if slippage is an issue, but if it is then a locking screw should help with it. Just my opinion. Once I try it out I will be able to know if it needs it or not.

    Bought the 1" for a 7 speed hub on an electra 7 speed cruiser. There is a gap of about est. 1mm - please advise of what to remedy that space for a snug tight fit on the hub. Else the adapter can slide back and forth on the axle.

      It's because he bent them force fitting the three post of adapter through them. I've tried several rims and the adapter doesn't fit through the spokes on any of them at least not 26" mountain bike rims. And they only come in 1" or 1.5" diameter to fit around the hub and good luck finding one the that actually fits. Mine were all small about 1/8 of inch.

    That Adapter looks like it bent some the Spokes. Or at least some of the Spokes look to be bent around the three shafts of the adapter as they pass through them. Wouldn't that mean that you will have to re-true your wheel and also wouldn't you need longer spokes for those that are bent like that? I ask because the bend look significant in that video.

    does these bicycle motorized rear sprocket adapter kits have anything to fit the classic beachcruiser size 26 coaster brake rim ? ive got an old 1970's Tanaka TED 232 two stroke engine that would need a rear sprocket conversion kit to adapt the coaster brake rim to have the motorized bicycle sprocket mounted to the brake arm side of the rim, most of the *GAS ENGINE-not electric motor* BIKE KITs motorized bike gear adapters are for the freestyle/mountain bikes not having the internal brake drum, if bike is equipped to pull a mini trailer then these gas power sprocket adapters are necessary!

    Will it work for a electric modified, I have a limited amount of space from side to side, so I'm using a front wheel of a e scooter / eco metro, for the sprocket wheel on my trailer. Kind of like a push motor electric for carrying extra weight, using more teeth for greater tork.

      Our Modus is 1.18", the next closest being our OCC at 1.25". We would recommend trying our Modus, as the tolerance of the hub and adapter will likely fit well, and leaves room for filing or machining to a perfect fit. The OCC can be used with a rubber or metal sleeve but may add unwanted movement.

I been looking at so many different options i see what is "listed" as good and found top rated tubes and tires but i would like to hear from BBR on what has been working or have people not even broke it down? Cause different tubes and tires will affect speeds. Im more worried about blow outs or catching a nail Thanks..

    what can I do if I have 26 inch lowrider style rims with a ton of spokes?

    • @VectorRoll
      @VectorRoll 8 років тому +1

      +rodenrren2 You say it has a lot of spokes so I will assume that it is something like 140 spokes. To use this on a wheel like that you would probably have to remove some for the spokes in the areas that the three (what I will call bolting shafts) come through the spokes. Those shafts are about 19mm in diameter and cone down in size a little, at least on the one I have it is like that which should be the same across the board for that part of it. The only size difference should be the diameter for clamping around the hub. I know that in the video it shows some spokes wrapped around those shafts. I asked about that earlier down in the comments. So it could be possible to get some longer spokes for the areas that might be in the way and similarly wrap them around it. But I think in the video that wrapping was do to slippage from engine torque. (I have a design fix for that slippage by the way. It needs a locking screw to be tapped through the bracket that clamps onto the hub so that you can tighten it into a divot in the hub. That would keep it from slipping but I have not done it yet myself since thinking of it. I haven't had time do to winter but plan to do it soon now that it is warming up outside.)

      +Asa3772 These Adapters are are pretty precise. So they might have a little play or be just to small even with a very small fraction of difference in size. My hub is 1.51" so I got the 1.5" and you can see the space between the two halves when mounted. I was able to bolt it together though and it fits pretty tight but works. With this in mind I would suggest getting one just less of what you measurement is when its not the exact size. With yours being so close the FWL Adapter might be better than the Modus as the Modus might have some play in it. I can't say for sure which would work though as I am just a customer like you. :) I will say that if yours is too small, if it is just a fraction too small, you could try to shave it down as it is just aluminium. It is not something the makers of it would suggest as it would loose strength the smaller it gets but if it is just a fraction like a mm then it might be feasible to try. It would be sort of like boring a cylinder head of a engine block. :) On the opposite for one that is a mm or so to large, one might be able to build up a hub. Say by wrapping the hub with something that can be compressed when clamped. Something that won't allow for much slippage. Ideally you want it to be exact, but not all hubs are exact. Any ways that is my thought on it. :)
