I actually favored the bike you sold. Very nice build. Took mine on the shoulder of the highway. A truck came from behind and the draft tried to suck me under semi tires. Scary shit. Don't ever try it. Warn others. Happy trails.
Okay so I just bought one of these (first time motor bike rider or anything really only ever drove a car lol) idrk how to brake or even start it I was so awkward in front of the guy buying it. He kept walking me thru what to do and I just couldn’t understand it I couldn’t ever understand the clutch in & brake thing. I would just do burnouts trying to stop. I almost crashed into the damn storage facility he was teaching me outside of. Anyway he didn’t really have time to teach me much & I didn’t really get it by the time we parted ways so I just walked the bike home and am still trying to learn how to use this thing lol. He was selling it for 300$ but he took 90$ because he knew I needed it to get around.
SWEET!! would love to see more about your trike builds.
I'd like to get the plans for the number 7 bike .can you keep the derailer system on mountain bikes for both uses?
Hey, any chance of some sources for those photos? The tadpole 'bent looked interesting, as did the quads.
Also, nice tips for using the 2stroke motor kits - something they should include in the manuals when shipped (not just how to install them)
I like #25 reminds me of a bike I had years ago ,they don't climb hills and here in WV that lets me out at 74 !! AI love watching your stuff I've had most of the cars and trucks you work on back in the day and wish I still had them !!
hey bud back again with an update the trouble i was having was not enough spark , as it would spart yet not start
defective cdi from factory , just wanted to let you know and have it fixed happy trails Tom
I wide open my throttle and say F the clutch every time I ride.
Then again, mines an ebike...So...
Till the clutch says, FU, pedal.
I do the same but mines a 2 stroke
Was there anything special you had to do since it was on a 29 in? I debated getting one before I stuck with the 26in I have now, but remembered the kit says for 26-28 in. Wheels.
Btw #7 has an almost rocket looking exhaust, real swick.
So you built all of those bikes??? Man they are beautiful... One question be for you..you said you have to pedal up hill more because of the wheel size? I'm having the same problem with my 29 inch Moto bicycle.what are some things I can do to improve the up hill climbing on mine?I had one a while ago with 29,s and the uphill capabilities were much better with the same set up (no after market parts or upgrades on either) I recently moved to the foothills in utide of Denver CO and hills with any gain are impossible to traverse with my bike... Thank you
What are the engines on number 4 and 7. They are a couple of great looking bikes.
Dope video love the thunder HEAD and 419 plate ending
#2 looks interesting, but is there lubrication problems tipping the engine like that?
How do you get or fit a plastic body piece inside the triangle shaped hole of the frame under the gas tank? Is there something online for purchase?
I like the handlebars. Where did you get them? They don't look like the stock ones.
Your comments about customers sounds right on, you have it right. The customer base your dealing with is totally breast feed through college. Keep up the concepts, your getting better.
Hahahaha what?
hey friend , need help. i have a motor kit and a beach cruiser. the motor does not fit the traditional way. i have to install it on the rear wheel. what do you recommend to do for this motor; for example do you know of any site that sells rear wheel bracket / mount kits to install this on the rear wheel. or do i have to build one
What happened the wrecked rear frame of #13 motorized bicycle? Accident or self-destruction?
Where did you get the Unix 29 beach cruiser from where did you buy that bike from
What Types of Bicycles are shown at #25 to #27?
VERY VERY Useful tips.
I think then, using a bigger rear gear would help the motor with the power.
I want to build one of these, but I've got so many questions. First, are there any particular brands of cruiser bikes that are better than others for a motorized bike? What features do I need to look for in a bike? Are there any brands of engine kits that are better than others? They all look the same...
Are petrol push bikes leagle on the road in the UK or not .can u explane please were u can use it leagly
I liked all the fat tire ones. at 1st I thought the fat tire bikes looked goofy but in person they are nice and the ride is way more smoother. I liked the number 11 one. do you make and sell these motor bikes? I would love to have one. I did have a motorcycle at one time but had to sell it. I do have a cy endorcement so I am not a noob. lol.
Your builds are stunning! They're honest to God motorcycles!
What brake did you use on the front wheel?
Bah! Trying to sell one of these is way too much of a hassle. You won't be able to get enough money, and first timers have unreasonable expections. These things are labors of love.
john your right about that . I always offer 10 days free service plus hands on support with every bike sold . This gets you to form a great relationship with your customers plus an up sale on other relative products or services that you may offer .I find a good percentage of my business is repairing bikes that were bought from careless builders . The key to this biz is promotion & to know what your doing and always take care of your customers ....believe it or not i sold 22 bikes last year it can be done...Bro i did it.
I just transitioned to only selling e-bikes I sold 15 gas bikes and 4 e-bikes….I never had a problem with the E-bikes and made a good profit on them…the gas bikes is another story’ out of 15 I had 3 dumb asses’ if your selling gas bikes plan on working on broken ones’ due to neglect and stupidity’
No matter how well you build them ppl manage to tear them up…all mine had jack shaft kits and dual lever brakes…red lock tight is used on all hard parts. Some bikes I lost money on…due to my time being used for repairs…I got so tired of it, I started only selling the broken parts only to them’ I had spare carbs, engines, stators, Ignition modules, chains, throttle cables, clutch cables, spare gaskets, and clutch packs.
Yeah…first timers think they can just hop on one and do 50mile round trips….and they seemed confused on gas mixers so I gave a chart on it from break in 50:1 ratio down to break in ratio….and they just don’t get it….then instead of pedal assist them they clutch the hell out of them, and we all know what happens when that’s done.
I have over 100 spare clutch packs.
what are rules for theese on the road? do you need a moped license or something like that?
question? im thinking about adding one of these motor kits to a fat tire bike and i do have beginner expeirence on a motor cycle but im wondering do these kits have up and down shift example 1-2-3-R or just a release of the clutch
They are only one gear. You can buy a shift kit for an extra 200. Not worth it. Just buy a motorcycle
What kit was installed on the one you were selling?
#20 looks nice and the one before it too, but I'm trying to find four stroke cuz quieter and stuff. But the blue one it's nice how it's set up I want one set up that way
U got some really nice builds
How did you get the front engine mount to fit around that larger than normal bike tube? I have the same bike and engine kit, but the front bolts are too close together. I appreciate any help!
Go to Home Depot get some cheat metal mold that are around the tube to the bike and drill two holes make that ship metal about 2 inches wide good luck with that that's how I reinforce my
how did you get the ammo box on the side of #14
You just got to love the first motor they show truly a great motor
You have to change gears? I thought these bikes were automatic.
How did you mount your front brakes? They are not stock are they? Are they traditional calipers or cantilevers? Do they work well?
THANKS!
They worked well, they were side pull manual brakes. Just got them off another junk bike. The bike shown had a hole for brakes for some reason. The only thing about the brakes was that they were really wide. Went right around the fender perfect.
Nice looking bike! I love black on black- I've just finished a nice flat black and chrome cruiser I'm trying to sell- I've got no bites yet.
They're all awesome bikes wish i had one. I bought a kit and bike but just cannot seem to put it together plus so many little things that just hasn't gone right so here i am drooling. Oh well thanks for the buyer's beware heads up!
What bike is that in the thubnail? Looks like a good bike to build on.
beach cruiser with pan seat and low handle bar. nice
s14duma how much
What engine is on bike 4?
Damn! the No 7 was my favourite!!! Do you make more of them but with a higher handlebar??? Also would a 5ft11 dude suit the size of that bike too?
LockDown.
Just put one of these bikes together a Week ago and I finally got used to how the clutch works and now I’m building another one to maybe sell
Great video and cool bikes my friend. That 289 c.i.d. was sounding pretty mean. I had a 62 Falcon with a 289 with a 3-speed on the floor and that was one mean little Ford to say the least, lol. By the time I sold that Falcon I had turned the odometer over twice and I believe it already had something like 78K on the motor when I pulled it out of the 65' Mustang it was in that had been rolled & damn near crushed to death. Is that a Galaxie 500 or a Fairlane 500? Hell, watch it be a Custom, lol.
thanks! it was a custom. it had a 5 speed and 4.11 posi on top of everything else
I was interested in getting this set up but after hearing how little power these motors have, no thanks. Are you installing a 25cc motor on those bikes? The smallest motors I've seen are 50cc for this purpose and my 50cc will do a standing, tire smoking, burnout.
Chuck U Farlie i put 66cc engines on mine. they will do a burnout, but its not worth it due to thehigh rpm with unbalanced assembly. not worth it.
Hey how's it going? Do you have any photos or even a step by step when your building the onex genesis? I want to do this to my bike but the guys at barrysbike said it wasn't recommended. Not till I seen your video that I got all excited again. Any info would help. Thanks. Also what and where did you buy from?
Email me at brotherford289@gmail.com and I'll explain the process
+Erik Ramirez Erik check out the Harley Bee Motorized bike videos here on UA-cam. You will find all the ins and out as well as Fred at CR Machine... We deliver the spine shivers the real McCoy...
omg that ford focus at the end... sounds fast that's the v8 one?
How much did you get for the bike?,..
Where'd you get those tires at
Man this story is funny..good delivery!
Build next one with Loctite on the bolts so they don't loosen out. I needed to use it on the bolts on my Harley Davidson tank on my Honda Rebel 250. One of the bolts vibrated out and then snapped.
+William Randles Willy >at Harley Bee brand bikes we use Nylock NUTS where applicable and we use STEEL head lock nuts where it gets hot.... It costs us dearly in cash but Look for the Harley Bee videos it explains it ain't just locktite like back in your days okay..... Modern teenagers don't just take a condom on dates in these days they take antibiotics and a hand gun... Times have changed sorry for my pun okay it seems foul to me but these bikes with the torque bikes like mine put out Locktite is antiquated okay.... It's obsolete.... THE HARLEY BEE BRAND BIKES BREAK ABOUT 170 FT LBS OF TORQUE... WELL BEYOND CONVENTIONAL SOLUTIONS... Willy you're an old timer... Locktite won't save with one of my bikes... only good construction will save ya..
#5 and #28 all are great builds!
Yeah #7 is pretty legit! What kind is it?
all recommend just get the Harbor Freight engine cuz it when does show night there's not to go this clutch slips a lot and it just turns out
builders error that the pipe rattle loose you are supposed to go over every bolt & nut and tighten them up during break in. Before selling. After breaking in The engine the bolts and nuts will stay tight.
#21 the recumbent trike, looked like it had incredible range.
Thread lock and a proper carb tuning. doesn't sound like it's all the buyers fault.. if it's bogging under a load it's running too rich.. if any bolts or nuts come loose you didn't use thread lock where you should have being a 2 stroke it's going to be shaky no matter what..
This looks like Ankeny. In fact I think I've seen that Blue F-100 before and dug it's vibe (Fellow Ford guy). South of Briarwood? I just sold my place on Briarwood Dr. and bought a little acreage out by Sailorville Lake. It's been a while. But that really looks like the Ankeny DMACC campus. Small world if so, I own a small motorized bicycle company based out of Ankeny. www.rivercitymotorbikes.com and also, I'm currently restoring a '66 Mustang convertible in the same shop, and on the market for a F-100 as a shop truck. Sounds like you and I could get along pretty well, so long as you like good beer ;)
he says it in the video at 1:59
I started selling gas bike again, but I only sell gas cruisers’ because they’re easier to build, and much quicker …I use the CNC hub, and the jack shafts….I look for ones with heavy duty spokes. because I can install them’ without making a Chuck and know the spokes will be ok.
wanna trade my Panama jack cruiser with cup holders a rack and engine and runs just don't know how to tern it like
hi, is that a fixed gear bike or freewheel?
I really like fixed gear frame but dont know if the motor could work on fixed gear bike
i dont think fixed gear and motorized bikes get along to well together.
You let the clutch out immediatley. You dont just let it out easy. That will wear the pads out quickly.
how much did you sell the bike for
i LIKE THE #3 RED BIKE, AND ALL OF THE TRIKE'S! I live in Florida now, and retired, and am looking to buy a motorized bike. I have difficulty in walking and hate the bus system. So the bike will be my only transportation!
#13 looks like a really clean build
o man, #2 and #7 are bad to the bone, plus this one, the 29". i think that may be my next build.
I just bought one and it's too much work all the bolts do is vibrate out of my motor so I had to buy lock tightening
Nice 289, solid lifter cam?
I have the 29" Genesis 7 speed .
Maybe i will add a motor to it.
Yep, solid lift. Runs out real good. Ready for winter to be over and autocross season to begin again
So, Emptor Caveat ?
what's the intro music?
where did u sell this?
I'm curious because you don't have to register these at the DMV or get insurance. If someone was riding one of these drunk could they still get a DUI
willisapril yeah even riding a regular bicycle drunk could get you a DUI
well actually that would be a BUI....or a PUI....or ultimately a DMF!
what's in the galaxy?, i wasn't even watching the video anymore then i heard a motor go bump, overlap gets me sticky......
I'm looking to buy one were do I find them at I'm in Chicago and what the best one to buy
EBay, Amazon, or Wish.
number 15 was a beauty!! question though, how difficult is it to put in a transmission of sorts when you are building a bike?
+masterG585 sick bike parts makes a HD shifter setup where you use the gearing on your bicycle. sickbikeparts.com
jack shaft
lol how high do they rev?
is this street legal? and can a 13 year old ride it?
How much did he buy it for?
Someone should make a buyers guide illustrating all the misconceptions newbies have
I just got a motorized bike I love it it's so much fun
I'd really like to learn how to build one. Any advice on where to start? Sites, etc...? Also, do you build and ship? What kind of price range do these sell for? I realize it depends. But how much did you sell this one for, if I may ask? Thanks! Great vid! #25 was pretty bad-ass too btw! Peace!
+JohnnySkillish if i remember right, i sold this one for 300. they arent "profitable" to sell - take about 6 hours to build right, the kit costs 150. i have several motorized bike vids on my channel, but i have been out of the loop for about 2 years.
Thanks for answering so quickly. Yeah, I'd onlu build it for myself, not to create a business. So although you've moved on, would you be willing to build one for me? If not, what kit would you recommend and which bike for someone with a bum knee? Any help appreciated. Thank you.
if you take a peek at my channel, i just got alot going on. im trying to get my 302 powered rx-7 done and sold right now especially. i just got my kits off of ebay, they are now as low as 115 bucks. id recomend any v frame bike that does have shift cables running along the TOP of the upper tube, and that has thumb shifters. the turn shifters for the bike will be in the way.
OK Thunderhead. Good stuff. Thanks for the advice. I'll check out ebay and your vids and others. Good luck with your project.
Hi I am also interested in buying a 4 stroke bicycle with a built in gas tank. I'm from Toronto, Canada
I'm trying so hard to talk my self out of building one of these. I have to many hobbies and so much in the big bike.
It was fun when I was a kid, I have no desire to do anything with them anymore
I have 100cc motor how big is that motor
Maybe a engine throttle governor?
really good job, I think starting a project like this but I don't know to chose should a speed gear bicycle or fixed...
What do you think?
Definitely get a multiple speed bike.
+Alper tüt definitely fixed. W/ a fixed you have a coaster brake.
+Gunny Zoho If a coaster brake is for some reason something you enjoy having
i have no idea why you would want a coaster brake. chain breaks and you die.
Coaster brakes are terrible anyway, the reaction time isn't the same as lever brakes, and if you have coaster brakes, your feet ALWAYS need to rotate, regardless of whether or not you are being powered by the engine. Which may not be a huge issue if you are riding leisurely, but once you hit 15/20mph your feet are gonna be at a constant like 90-120RPM or so.Which will get old fast.
Either way, front brakes are safer than rear brakes, so that in itself is a good enough reason to go with lever brake system. For efficient braking you should be at about a 60%/40% split between front/rear respectively.
I had a Coleman mini bike which was a pretty big mini bike. I decided to take governor of the motor. I'm a big guy 235lbs and if I full throttled the motor I could get thrown of it. When I was done with I sold to some small kid (I'm 15 btw) he was the same age as me. He bought before riding it thank god. I told him not to full throttle at all but he did not listen. He full throttled and popped a wheelie in the back of his pick up broke his arm and bent the foot rest into the pull start. He blamed that the throttle stuck which was bs. I least I got my $350.
i make all customers sign a liability waiver form, give me full deposit first then i go thru the details of the bike and how to ride, they dont leave my place till they know how to ride. also as a builder i use lock tight and double nut to prevent what you went thru
What's a Web site for you, I want one like bike 5
Anybody know what #4 is at 2:46.
Whats the intro song
spokes must take a beating on the rear wheel.
Should use some lock washers or something to hold the exhaust nuts on, man.
They were on there originally. Bro.
Thread locker works way better. None of the lock washers on my bike are resistant to the amount of vibration they receive
cbthethird Lock tight w lockwashers and bolts
ThunderHead289 ,,,, what's the brand and the make of this bike,,, ??? I could not understand it clearly or read it on the frame,,, I want one of these I think how much did it cost where did you get it from,,. ???
Rick Simpson looked like a Genises Inex 29". $149 at Wallyworld.
LOL at your story! Yeah, I was actually thinking about "building" a few bikes, then sell them. Make a little money. Figure, buy the beach crusers at Walmart, then the motor kits. $200 total Then I install the kits, get it going. Then sell the bike for $250. Make $50 for each bike! Basically they pay me to install the kit!
Going to build one as a project with my son. What is the recommended kit to select?
sandworm3 zeda 80 firestorm
love the video, how much does it normal cost to build one? im looking into opts like this for long distinct travel
+thunderlord2200 depending on upgrade and price of bike, 150 to 300. i generally try to get a bike for under 100. the older steel framed bikes are the best. the kit itself from ebay is only 130 to 150. so these can be built very cheaply.
thank you for your quick responce. cool thats better for me so i can try and find a used bike (older) and muck around with it so it can fit is.
thanks
+thunderlord2200 CHECK OUT HARLEY BEE BRAND BIKES ON FACE BOOK AND FACE BOOK.... TIM YEAKEL... WE MAKE THESE BIKES TO SPECS...
Love the pictures.
Now I know what to do to stress test a bike I'm about to buy :).
I would like a user's manual
Because I'm planing to buy a motorized bike
