    A few years ago I made a video demonstrating how to install a motorized bike kit. I wanted to remake the video to include some additional information that was left out of the first one.
    Here is a video demonstrating how I built a bike work stand: • How to Build a Bike Wo...

    Protip: get some thick rubber hosing, cut two small sections off, and put it between the frame and the two motor mounts before bolting everything down. This cuts down greatly on vibration. Your testicles will thank you!

    Great explanation. I enjoyed watching your video. By far one of the best videos on this topic. Also your frame seemed to fit so good. I hope that my install will go as smooth. I am waiting for my motor to arrive. I never thought about just sliding the grip shifter in to accommodate the twist throttle. Mahalo, jusride7.

    • @RCexperimental
      @RCexperimental  8 років тому

      Thanks for the comment! It is still nice to have the ability to shift gears, and trigger shifters can be expensive, so sliding the grip shifter in can be a good compromise.

    • @monkeyjuju7441
      @monkeyjuju7441 6 років тому

      If you didn't have the forethought to consider what to do with the shifters on a multi speed bike you probably shouldn't be putting motors on things... That's just my opinion. I mean you can't be very technically minded if moving something to make more room so something will fit didn't cross your mind.

    i made my bike over 1 1/2 years ago so i decided on listing my recommended parts for a motorized bicycle that you should put on to make your bike last
    1. BBR Tuning Sprocket Adapter Assembly: www.bikeberry.com/bbr-tuning-sprocket-adapter-assembly.html
    2. dual brake lever: www.bikeberry.com/sunlite-alloy-dual-brake-lever.html
    and 3. clutch cable lock: www.motorizedbicycle.ca/clutch-parts/clutch-cable-lock.html
    bike berry doesn't have #3 so i listed another link so you can get an idea on what you need.
    also if you live in canada go to this webside for the engine kit: motorizedbicycle.ca
    also don't get the cns high performance carburetor! it is not good for beginners and the jet needle falls out of its place if your carburetor is empty

    THanks for this very informative video. The kit you link to is $99US. Is that the price for the complete kit? That is a great price. Others are much more on EBay. Is the motor dangerously hot? Will I burn my legs or pant leg. Can a different muffler make it quieter? How do you think the four stroke engine would be different?
    Where I live in lower Baja Mexico, the price of gas is already very expensive. It is going to jump another 20% in a couple of days. This is a very practical solution to transportation problems for a lot of people who are really struggling with making ends meet. I am going to buy a kit and try it out. I wouldn't want to buy the wrong kit and I'll appreciate your feedback. I'll look for your other videos. Thank you again.

    • @RCexperimental
      @RCexperimental  7 років тому +7

      Hey linda! Love Baja, I travel a bit down to Loreto and Cabo, maybe I'll see you ripping along one day. The price on eBay for $100 would be for the full kit, but keep in mind some sellers list low and charge a lot for shipping and handling. It may be more cost effective to find an identical product with a higher list price and free shipping, I find that often ends up being more affordable.
      The motor is hot, but located out of the way. I have never accidentally touched it when riding. You can potentially make it a bit quieter with an expansion pipe exhaust, but it'll still be fairly loud. A 4 stroke engine is more expensive but quieter and less smokey but in my opinion harder to fix if anything goes wrong.

      People with knowledge of mechanics usually go for the most difficult part of any job first. Installing the rings of rubber made out of old used tires is the most difficult to align so the sprocket is straight. Carbon rings!? Lol .

    What an amazing jump in quality from the outdated video!! This is great content, thanks for making it. I have a question, as I'm looking at kits online (so many!!), I can never tell if one is complete or if I need to get things with it, which drives the price up. There are always things offered with the kit, and I never know if they are necessary or not.

    • @RCexperimental
      @RCexperimental  8 років тому +2

      +Arthur Sperotto Thanks! Almost all the kits include everything you'd need, and should run about $140.A lot of the ad-ons are for performance enhancers that really don't do much in my honest opinion.

      @@RCexperimental I really like this video it helped me out but is there anyway I can do this without cutting though fiber disks

    • @chaosh7040
      @chaosh7040 Рік тому

      @@Parsa8237 unfortunately the only (very impractical) way to not have to cut the disk (you only need to cut 1 of them btw...just the one that goes inside the wheel) is to remove all of the spokes on that 1 side...put the disk in...& then reinstall all of the spokes again.
      Short answer...yes...but cutting it won't be a problem as the installed sprocket will hold it together again after it is installed.

      not trying to be rude dude but once you put the engine on you should be able to quickly figure out the answer to your question and even just from watching this video should be able to figure it out just by visually looking how its setup. I mean think about it, all you're doing is hooking the bike up to a motor and you're not taking your gears off and you're not connecting every one of those sprocket gears to the motor and you're not disconnecting any of the cables that run up from the derailers all the way to your handlebars. So if none of those connections are being changed replaced or cut then why wouldn't it work if you wanted to switch gears without the engine? Of course it would still work... Sorry but I have to throw one last thing into this long comment....

    Thanks for the cool vid man, I'm thinking of buying an 80cc engine, I have an old mountain bike... however the brake and gear cables travel along the top of the cross-bar...would this interfere with the installation of the fuel tank or is there a solution? Thanks again.

    I think it's funny that you say to get the clams "as tight as possible" but later warn about the risk of breaking the exhaust studs on the cylinder head. All studs are capable of stripping, or breaking if you gorrilla them. Be careful when doing this, and a torque wrench is a great idea. You can rent them from a local autoparts store.

    • @RCexperimental
      @RCexperimental  8 років тому

      The exhaust studs on the cylinder head are typically a lower quality material than the studs on the engine clamp, and it's a less structural component of this build also. If the muffler loosens off the bike'll be a little louder, but if the engine clamps loosen the whole motor could shift or even come off the frame. The average user wouldn't bother with torquing the nuts, so this is why I make the suggestion to tighten the engine studs as much as possible but warn specifically about damaging the exhaust studs. All from personal experience building multiple motorized bikes.

    Just curious how reliable are these engines, how long would it last before requiring a rebuild? Also is there a way to quieten them down?

    Why do you suggest that we should not use a bike with disc breaks? I don't truly understand why not but as i want to have a go at this, I think its a good idea for me to know and you sound like the guy who knows :-) Also what price should we be considering paying for one of the kits? Any suggestions on where to get a kit from in the UK?
    Thanks Liz

    Hey Tim. Roughly 3 weeks ago i ordered my 80cc engine kit for my 26'' Cranbrook Cuiser and as of two days ago I completed my project (also with i that 3 weeks of buy tools extra nuts, etc). Well what I'm having a problem with is pedaling my bike (doesn't matter if I'm engaging the clutch or not). While putting together my bike I watched all videos closely to understand everything. Yet wondering did i do something to make my bike difficult to pedal at all or is that normal?

    • @topdog3407
      @topdog3407 Рік тому +1

      does it sound like the pistons are rotating when you pedal with clutch in? if they are you need to adjust the clutch tighter so it take the engine out of gear when trying to start it.

    Weird Tech tip - you can use Elmer's Glue from preventing Nuts and Bolts from coming loose. it'll hold them On, but you can also take them off again. It doesn't get rock hard like super glue.

    On the sprocket the concave side should be facing out no the convex side because It gives your chain clearance from the tire... when installing the sprocket tighten the bolt alternately
