you may find this funny BUT...I found some comfy stretch jeans at Walmart in the dark blue wash! They have been stepping up their game lately, and constantly surprise me with some of the things they carry. Also, Old Navy is known for having decent (yet cheap) jeans. I've bought several pair from them.

I do prefer straight leg, dark wash, they give the illusion of longer legs (I'm 5'4"). However, I fear that my larger derriere make me look like a ice cream cone. A longer, sweater or top can camouflage this a bit. Any tips are appreciates to style a short, roundish figure. My days of 18 y/0 and 100 pounds are not coming back. But I still want to look stylish. Not trendy, just stylish.

I now have 7 pair of jeans (all thrifted) after having not worn jeans for years. I reverted to the look of them and I love them now. I have one pair of bootcut high-waisted in dark grey DKNY.The others are shades of mid to dark blue that include 2 pair Levi 501 and 505. I do prefer the 100% cotton but will wear 1% or 2% elastane. More than that I think compromises the true denim look. I'm petite --5'2" ,thin and a slight pear shape. This was one of your best videos!

Hello Marie-Anne, I also like bootcut with some stretch. However, in autumn and winter I prefer to wear skinny jeans with boots over the top. For me, I don’t like any extra fabric around the knee where the jeans are tucked into the boots, it doesn’t look streamlined.
One problem I have is, no matter how well they fit and even if they are high rise, somehow jeans or trousers always manage to ride down. Not much but it seems every time I get out of a car there I am hoisting them up!

I am a triangle like you, Marie-Anne, so I know the challenges of finding jeans that aren't too big in the hips and thighs. The brands that fit me the best are Vince Camuto (at Dillard's) and Banana Republic's slim through the hips. Most of my jeans are skinnies, but I recently purchased a couple pair of boot cut that are at least at the belly button. I do best in a slightly higher waist to help me look my slimmest even though I'm small and a slight body shape. After wearing skinnies for so many years it's taking my eye some time to become accustomed to how I look in a (not too wide) boot cut. But, it's a nice change instead of my usual skinnies. Depending on which style of jeans I'm wearing helps determine which of my beloved boots I'll wear; ankle or knee boots. Thanks for another great video! Yesterday I went shopping for a small houndstooth, black and (slightly off white) white straight skirt. I found myself asking if Marie-Anne would approve of the shape for my body, the workmanship, the fabric, the print, and the classic style. The answers were all YES!!!! It's all coming together and I love my clothes right now the most I ever have, all while remembering that LESS IS MORE and QUALITY OVER QUANITY.

Hi Marie Anne 🌹🌸! I have the following issues with bootcut jeans. One, because I am petite, and hardly any one makes jeans for our height. So bootcut is impossibly long, or I need to get them tailored to my lenth. I don't find that issue with the skinny jeans. Secondly, the skinny jeans I find easier to style. Also super comfy. After years, I have found my most comfortable jeans in Zara to wean me off the tights.

hi happy new year everybody. I am not a fashion expert but I have bought jeans from M & S several times mainly because I find all the size range . However, the biggest downside with these jeans especially the deep colors is that they fade all the way each time you wash them either by hand or machine. To avoid such cases, read the labels and when it says some color may transfer, it is certain that the jeans will lose color very quickly. Another tip would be to check the fabric composition because if the elastane is high percentage you may need a size smaller.

Hi Marie-Anne. I'm 5 ft 3 and pear-shaped. I like bootcut jeans but most jeans are not sold in the right length for me so I get them cut. Trouble with this is that the width at the bottom gets lost. I prefer them slimmer fit at the thighs and a wider width from the lower knee. I just found a great pair recently so I bought 2. They come in 3 lengths, so I ordered the short length and they have a nice wide waistband which has a slimming effect too.

Thanks for another fabulous video! I am an inverted triangle and mostly wear boot cut. I do, however, wear some skinny (or straight) jeans , cut at the ankle and paired with nude ballet flats or nude/tan sandals. I like this combo in warmer weather months

Wonderful advice to buy 2! I love to see you strut your stuff around your city! I love your savoir faire 😊 I am a pear shape and like straight leg but I will try the bootcut as I am 36 years old and thought they were a bit old fashioned but I will try they look great on you.

Marie-Anne Lecoeur Can I add, I doubt they are old fashioned. Decades ago, do you remember, only one particular style would be in fashion and that’s all you could buy. Everyone wore the same style and every other style just looked plain wrong.
I think all that has changed, otherwise, why would jeans of the same brand be available in such different styles? It’s a good thing too because, if people are going to wear jeans forever, it wouldn’t make sense to produce them only according to whatever is the current trend. Even though we see new jeans trends come and go, people still want their staple style.

    • @karensetchfield3495
      @karensetchfield3495 5 років тому +1

Marie-Anne Lecoeur Yes, I understand the problem. I meant, rather than one style of jeans being “the style” for a few years, and every other style looking out of date, nobody looks twice at different jean styles today. At least I don’t think so, maybe I’m wrong!
I haven’t bought jeans from these brands but I’ve seen different cuts in Gap, Boden and Next. That’s not to say they’re a good fit though, I don’t know. Glad you found what you were looking for xx

Bonjour, Marie-Anne. I just came across this video, and I couldn't have found it at a more perfect time. Talk about frustration in finding my perfect pair of jeans! I already have a pair of pull-on jean jeggings with a flat front that doesn't add inches to my middle, but I want a pair of boot cuts, too, for the reasons you stated. But, (and this is a big "but"), I need pull-on boot-cut jeans, which are more comfortable due to a surgical scar on my belly that bothers me. I looked everywhere, including our regional mall that has 400 stores (I didn't go into all 400!). Every pair of jeans has a zipper and button. And what passes as "boot cut" often is just wider from the hips to the bottom; they don't have the same taper as the attractive ones you're showing in this video. However, I will check H&M and try on the jeans you're showing; maybe the stretch in the material will be more comfortable. Merry Christmas!

When I was a nice hourglass, I loved Gloria Vanderbilt jeans more than anything! They are made for womanly curves, and don't gap in the back. Now that I have a tummy (bye bye to 24 inch waist after 4 kids...) GV plus sizes still fit me pretty well.

    Dear Marie-Anne,
Just today I found the perfect jeans that I have been looking for . That’s Bootcut style. I wear only skinny and bootcut Jeans . I m petite and I love jeans that make me look slim n tall. Bootcut makes my legs look longer as you said and holds the muffintop in which is great! I bought one today from (Only)store. I didn’t look at HM . I will surely go n have a look there. Thanks for sharing. I would love to see how you style Bootcuts jeans like what shoes and tops goes well with it . TIA 🙏😘🙏

I am changing to bootleg!I wear dark skinnies ,high waist and slightly stretchy..All for comfort. My daughters told me to wear skinny because I have skinny legs and it has been hard to find bootlegs that fit without looking too big. I'm 5'5 and 50 kg. My body shape looks identical to yours Marie Anne and your jeans look great! So...guess where I'm going in the next few days!
Thanks again for sharing yourvpearls of wisdom once again.😀

Thank you Marie-Anne for a short and sweet but informative video. I prefer high rise jeans to hold my bulges in. I am a pear shape so straight-cut and boot cut are more flattering for me, but I could get away with skinnies if I wear a long flowy top to fake the inverted triangle/ rectangle shape.

The bootcut style looks amazing on you, Marie-Anne. It’s truly my favorite style. As a short gal, it’s a very chic, lengthening style. Very informative video. Xx💖 p.s...my favorite perfect fitting pair of jeans, I bought four...two dark wash, two other varying shades of mid-wash. 😂

I am 5’3” and high waisted jeans are up too high over my belly button. I rather have a mid-low rise, but the boot cut looks the best on me since I have hips at 125 lbs. skinny jeans are very unflattering for me, however they are the best with riding boots which is a very popular look where I live in horse-country. I love your videos & look forward to them, keep up the good work❤️🙏🏽

I have... navy-blue boot-cut jeans! They're currently my only pair of jeans and the one problem I have with them is that they're about two inches too short because I have such long legs (lucky me!), so that's frustrating. I have no idea why women's clothing is sized such that if you get a longer leg, you automatically get a bigger waist. I don't know if there's a branch of Long Tall Sally near me, but I might try there when I need to replace my jeans. Until then, I'll just have to find ways to minimise that slightly too short leg (ironic turn of phrase there, I know! :D)

I like a high waist Jean because I have a high waist and a longer leg. My tip is to go for the Tall range because they have a higher rise. I then get them hemmed to my preferred leg legenth. Gap do a tall range as do Next. I also always go for boot cut as I look rediculos in skinny jeans! Thank you for this helpful video.

When I was a little girl, at least at one point, I only had one pair of jeans, no trousers, and skirts for school. Mum put me in a skirt one weekend and I protested. My jeans were in the wash; why did I only have one pair when my brothers each had several? Because, said Mum, I was a girl! Oh the revolt, the disgust! Ever since I have mostly worn jeans or trousers as often as I pleased. At home or for casual events I almost always wear jeans or trousers. So this video made me smile. I like straight cut jeans, high rise, close fitting but not too tight, and short in the leg. I hate it when they go baggy on the thighs, especially at the back. Now I see that I am an inverted triangle, I can consider bootcut and skinny jeans! As my weight is still slowly going down, I have gone through lots of jeans in the past year, having gone down 2 or 3 sizes. Most of my current pairs are from charity shops and one is from a sale in my current size (and the next one down, saved for later, because they were so cheap). So this video gives me more options in the charity shops; thank you!

Bonjour Marie Anne , after commenting on several occasions about your pair of jeans and that I prefer you in jeans/ trousers ..here it comes your "jeans" video ! I like those bootcut jeans..straight jeans too with flats ...difficult these days to find them , skinny jeans are everywhere yet they're not the most flattering or elegant shape especially if one is a bit "shapely" ...so those terrific bootcut jeans are from H&M..would you be kind enough to know the name / reference of them ?.

I’m a rectangle and I look good in skinny jeans because I have narrow hips and plump butt still … I like boot cut but sometimes I feel short in them . I have to wear heels with it in order to make my legs look longer and I’m for comfort so forget that!

Hello, Marie-Anne! Thank you for another lovely video! I have a question. Is boot-cut still a good choice if you're short (1.59m) and chubby, with round legs?
