Its for local market in Pakistan. The market is structured for working parts at viable prices. Or else the internal business linkages on Pakistani economy would begin to erode. These relationships are an absolute must.
Its a very very old tradition, and it has come this far.

This is just another example of American Manufacturers out sourcing products which could be produced at a lower cost in the USA. You don't need a sand casting mold for each & every part. Several dozen steel molds for a casting machine at a steel mill would out produce this process in less than 1 hour. It pisses me off that there is no quality control of the molten metal & the machining is sub par at best with no precision micrometers used or surface finish requirements being met.
