      I don’t recommend that. You also mimic their flaws. Maybe pick a punch or two from a fighter you like but not their style.

    Jose is a tough guy, hits hard and is a great boxer with much experience. I workout at the gym he boxes at. Great guy to be around. He will spar with anybody that walks into that gym anytime. He has more heart than most people you'll ever see in your life.

    Cool! I started when I was 14 too. Make sure you have handwraps and make sure you are doing the CORRECT technique. I was hitting the bag with handwraps and what I thought was good technique, but I snapped my left wrist and pinky bone up real bad over time! Practice straight punches as much as you can before you get into hooks and uppercuts. The hooks are what snapped my wrist up real good, and it didn't feel pleasant! :D

    yeah he was throwing it on purpose but missed the first time.. he was simply "skimming" the bag so he was set up for the hook, juss a easier way to get used to twisting your hips into the hook.. good to practice

    This video demonstrates exactly how hard it is to be a good professional boxer. Jose has good hand speed, solid fundamentals, and his punches have some pop. But Jose has no claim to be an up-and-coming fighter. (According to boxrec.com, his pro record is 6-5-2.) In boxing parlance, he's at best a tomato can, at worst a bum...which doesn't mean he isn't tough. (Trust me, he is tough as nails.) It simply means that as good as he is, he can barely hang with the worst of the best.

    What you should do is throw light blows at first to get warmed up and get blood flowing to the muscles. Progressively make your blows stronger until finally your hitting it at full force without damage to your own body.

  • @sk8forlife90
    @sk8forlife90 13 років тому

    @intoccabile yeah but you wont get much power in your punches with that. their's other things for that like jumping rope, the heavy bag is not a footwork tool, it's a power, stamina, endurance etc. it's to put solidness in the punches so it shouldn't swing around violently.

    @sk8forlife90 The heavybag isn't always for hitting with power. Being able to work your technique is the most important. There are so many drills on the heavybag, you're missing the main ones. Light bags sway allowing you to work on 'duck unders'. Thats where you chase the bag while punching and if it's a short/light bag, you 'duck under' it when it sways back, simulating slipping hooks. The bags fine, you work conditioning more whilst moving anyway. It perfects the technique.

    I have a 60 pound heavy bag, but it's made of that book bag material.
    Whatever you call that stuff ... hahaa
    I really like how you can hear the punches that sound like slaps, on this leather punching bag.
    I might have to invest in one.

    @sz42781 Wrapping your hands supports your wrist and keeps it straight. If you hit the heavy bag without wrapping up first you're likely to get a wrist injury unless you are an experienced fighter.

    @jethrotay well... idk how it is in the states, but in europe you need a weapons license to be allowed to carry them with you... but for some weapons you just don't get a license because they are too dangerous and therefore illegal ;) it was meant to be a joke about how dangerous my right hook is (a strong punch with a lot of momentum from my right fist) ;)
