I'm an English knitter, but I learned continental so I can do two-handed stranded colorwork (it works really well for me). I have not tried stranded colorwork knit flat yet, but I find the idea of stranding on the purl side super intimidating.

I am getting ready to start my first stranded colorwork knitting project (the Flying Geese Hat on Ravelry), and I have been watching numerous UA-cam tutorials on that technique. This one has been the most helpful for me, mainly because it focuses only on the English knitting method for colorwork. All of the other videos I have watched crammed in Continental and Norwegian colorwork along with the English style. The result was a mess, and mass confusion, even from knitters whose content is usually very helpful. I'd almost given up on trying to master stranded colorwork. So glad I found this channel.
