Thing is, I don’t have a stash anyways because every time I buy yarn I’m either having to justify it to parents or telling parents I’m going to buy yarn…I kind of wish I could have a stash later.

Awwww Elise! You got my blushing over here. I could say the same about you and more. I'm so inspired by what you've done with your business and channel in the short time I've known you. You're gonna take it to the moon and beyond, I just know it!! Can't wait to see your Open Book Wrap :-)
Toni and I went to college together and would crochet in the dorms with our friend Tommy! I can confirm her amazingness since at least *mumble mumble* years ago. Love seeing her growth and getting to know you, Elise, through UA-cam. ❤
I'm so in love with the sudden amount of stash-busting videos from all sorts of creators right now! It feels like there's a new yarn everyone's gotta have lately but I'm all against this consumerism phase we're in and want to focus on busting out the stash I have rather than wasting money making it grow larger. Plus I need space to store other stuff rather than balls of yarn lol
as a new crocheter, it’s hard to not fall into overconsumption especially with yarn. i’ve learned a good habit is keeping track of which projects i’ll ACTUALLY make, complete and use/ be proud of in some way. for example, i never use cotton, but i bought a 250g skein of a cotton/polyester blend to make a reusable shopping bag and i live how it’s coming out! for $10 i got a reusable bag and saved money by not having to buy more bags when shopping and buying a reusable bag. i recently started a blanket of all my leftover yarn that’s too big to use for stuffing amigurumi! i hope these habits carry on into the future, because honestly if anyone is struggling with overconsumption, the best thing that worked for me to help was to make things i’ll actually use/need that way you don’t have to buy from a company and you can feel proud that you’ve made something that you can use for a long time! like clothes, socks, shopping bags, etc!
My crochet bestie came over today and I was able to gift her the yarn in my stash I cannot use anymore. That weeded out a lot of my stash and I’ll be donating the rest of the unusable yarn to the youth enrichment program of the local school system. Loved the ideas for busting a stash.
Same! I still have the "no idea what I'll make but too attached to let go" stash but got rid of all the "I'll never use" which included the peaches and cream yarn. Good riddance!
I must be weird. I never had a stash and have no desire to get one, nor would I have the extra money to spend on buying yarn for no reason. I am shocked at the amount of money some people must spend on yarn. And then where do you store it? I sure don't have the room to store a massive amount of yarn. I don't understand the premise of buying yarn and then trying to figure out a project to use it with, but to each their own. I buy yarn per project so I can make it exactly the way I want it. The only yarn stash that I have is leftover yarn from projects and the yarn I won from a Bag O Day contest.
I'm right there with you Elise. Additionally, I have nowhere to stash my stash. It's in bags, boxes and bins with no organization. I keep telling myself to work it off but it's increasing since I started crocheting tote bags with cotton yarn which is not part of my stash. Oh well, one day I'll catch up. Glad you met Toni! She's one of my favorites! I love your videos and hers!
I love the video! A cool idea is to have a yarn giveaway with the yarns you won't use anymore. I'm now crocheting a baby blanket, and I loved the other blanket patterns you shared!

Sigh..... I have 3 balls of unused yellow yarn left over from a temperature blanket, and I've no idea what to do with them. Yellow is not a colour I wear, and aside from maybe making a sunflower cushion or something, I have no use for them. I'm thinking of pushing my luck and taking them back to the shop to exchange for yarn I do want 🤭🤷🏽♀️🧶
Great destash ideas! Knit Picks Palette yarn is great for amigurumi, especially when you have limited space for display. The toys work up great in this yarn but are a nice smaller size. It just takes some getting used to working on a smaller scale. Those mice are so adorable, I have to look up the pattern. Also, it makes perfect sense to buy one ball of yarn so you can destash three others. Go for it!
Here is an idea to use up small amounts of different colored yarn. My granddaughter is graduating from high school on Friday and just got her drivers license as well. She requested that I make her a granny square steering wheel cover and seat belt cover in springy, pastel colors. So I made her one and tied it all together with a white border and it is adorable! You can use any square that you like. Grannies, sunburst grannies etc. I used a flower type granny square and I am quite happy with the results. I used the magic knot method to change colors so I didn't have a massive amount of ends to sew in. I imagine these would sell pretty well if you do craft shows.
Hi Elise! Love your yarn reviews. At some point would you review Lily Sugar 'n Cream Scrub Off? I' d really like your opinion. It's a size 4. I'm using it for the first time for a granny square style dish cloth (you don't need to do any color changes cause the yarn is self striping) and it's sort of wierd and challenging. But it does not bleed in the wash which is a big plus! I LOVE the color ways Holly Jolly and the cream and beige.. I love the results. Using a 5.25 mm. hook, can't get a smaller size hook to work with it. At intervals it gets quite thin and seems like it would break, but it's tough and it holds up. It's 100% cotton so it may be a problem for you. Thanks 😀
Thank you for this video it's very inspiring but I just started and I'm making a blanket for my first project it's coming out prettty well. It's the Bernat blanket I am using Yarnspirations100% Polyester 10.5oz.with Purple Plum and Birch. Thank you for this video!! Great projects!! I gravitated to the Open Book Wrap. It's so fun to make!! I'm almost finished with it (I would've been done but noticed that I messed up early on, watching the American Idol finale😹) Lots of colorways going through my head for future wraps. 👸💜🐈
My problem is that I see a pretty yarn, & idk what to do with it, so I just buy 1 skein. Because of that, I don’t have enough to make anything🤣 I keep trying to use them, but when they’re worked up it just doesn’t do the colorway (extremely & beautifully variegated) any justice. They look better just sitting there for me to look at😭 i keep started and then frogging everything I try to make with jt. It’s like some yarns look so pretty in a skein, but when you work it up the colors are just too hectic and it looks like colorful puke.
I love your channel so much! This video is super helpful. I'm on a yarn diet, since I really need to use up my stash! I hope you have a lovely day. Ciao! Erica
I’m currently doing the same thing. How did I get so much yarn??? I’m working through my 100% cotton yarn and making soap sacks and preemie hats. That will take me about 6 weeks. I’ve put myself on yarn probation!
The 🧶 yarn 🧶that you just showed Knitpicks Pallet is perfect for the new #crochettop Crystal at #bagoday is going to release soon. I have 5️⃣ different colors of the 🧶 yarn,🧶 and I had forgotten all about it... Thanks for this #vlog✨️❣️✨️❣️✨️
The only reason I am doing low buys every year or trying... Is I hit a zone and a time of life where I can't see what I have easily... I am a crafter that is prompted to make by the supplies, not the pattern. So a large stash will be a constant. I have just hit a zone that is too large for me to easily manage. I love seeing all of the stash busting videos and how we are all working in different ways to hit the same goals.
Hi Elise. I doubled up on pallete yarn when making the Ore hat by Irene Lin & it’s the warmest hat I own. I used two balls for the main color and one ball for contrast holding the inside & outside yarn (I cake up palette yarn bc I don’t like the disc shape.) now I wonder if I had done the same technique for the main color if I would have any leftover. (I made a double brim [4 inches altogether]& still have leftover). Take care Rosy
Another great and helpful video😊 I fell in love with the most expensive yarn!!! I mean wooooow, what beautiful colours and ah….❤️ Could you please help me with one problem that I have and that is why aren’t there proper knitting animals tutorial step by step, just like there ares crochet ones? Please could some one advise and tell me where I can find them as I just haven’t been able tc😊😊
Hi Elise. Thanks again for introducing new creators, I like when you do this. I look forward to seeing your progress on these projects in the future. I haven't looked on ravelry in years. I didn't know you have a website! I'm going to check it out. I need to make a list. When I finish a project, I feel lost. "What do I do now?" Wandering around in the desert with my crochet hook lol.
Palette is one of my favorites!! I love knitting Musselburgh Hats with it. I used it for my family's Christmas stockings, a Half + Half Triangles Wrap, and I actually have another Half + Half Triangles Wrap on the needles as we speak. 🤣 It's so good!!!
You always make me so happy! Your energy is amazing! I have a very large craft room and decided to use up all my stash before I begin a new project…..it has been quite a challenge! I’m in the same boat named “yarn abundance.” I remember the days when I might have a spare skein or two, but to date I have so much yarn that I have filled over 12 totes, and that’s after purging and gifting a decent quantity. Fortunately they are separated by fiber content, which helps, but I have this need to knit and crochet my way through them. I’ll be checking out the patterns you’ve recommended in hopes of reducing the hoard.
0:56 I'm wondering if you have a tutorial for your 3 not so little pigs? If not, where can I find the pattern? Thanks! Would love to see more tutorials by you. Your projects are beautiful! Thanks!
The pattern is available on Etsy! 🐷 I have a video tutorial for some of the trickier portions. The video is silent as it was made for a bilingual audience originally. 🐖🐽🩷 ua-cam.com/video/854aTnolTJ4/v-deo.htmlsi=jPHf1L1GXCuh1B3A
Hi Elise,I seen how disappointed you were when Furls discontinued or sold out of their odyssey hooks,I never used those before I just bought the metal streamline hooks,I love them, they are weighty and I thought this hook will make my hand tired, but it didn’t and I think the reason why is because I’m not gripping it like I do with other hooks, maybe because it has weight to it so I naturally don’t have a death grip on it,I hope that make sense,I love these hooks,if you haven’t given these a try maybe you should, they glide right through my yarn, and they will last forever, nothing cheap about these.
I’m making Wheelchair Wraps for my summer project, and then donating them this fall to a local nursing home near me. It’s a perfect project for acrylic yarn, and I’m using both worsted and DK weight. Once you know the pattern, you can just hum right along! (And the wraps are perfect for those who are seated as they don’t get in the way, and are easily washed.)
I have a Craftsy membership but only some classes are included in the membership. Of course most of the ones I want aren’t free with membership and expensive to buy. I will be cancelling my membership when it expires.

Hey, love your videos! I recently moved to SC to work at a Children's Home. I AK close to Greenville. Can you recommend any stores close to me to buy thread?
Something went horribly wrong…I love your destash ideas but now I have to buy the yarn that you so beautifully showcased. Totally losing at the destash game.😬
I use the Knit Picks palette yarn to make amigurumi!! It’s actually really really good for it. Then again I make my amigurumi as collector pieces and not as toys
I am working through some toy pattern books I have using stash yarn, I have a couple and I often make maybe one or two projects but I wanna make all of them. i am taking my time with it though :3
As a new crocheter I try not buy over consumption even as a former knitter I didn't because it cause anxiety for me I pick a project and buy 1 to 2 more than recommend because I don't want to run out especially when the dye lot is a a shade lighter or darker that will drive me insane
I had an unhealthy abundance of chenille and blanket yarn and I just sold it all😌 I know in my heart I probably won’t make plushies again for awhile and want to focus on more functional projects; I just crocheted a laptop case and am working on some blankets. Consumerism got the best of me last year but I’m finally ready to cleanse everything that I’m not going to use, and things that don’t bring me joy anymore
My dear Elise Rose. I love your videos and ideas so much that my yarn stash has grown significantly. Many friends and family feel I have an addiction and should take a 12 step program to release me from my crochet habit. Some have suggested I stop watching your videos. Thank goodness they can't control my phone. Anyway, if you can do a video to show me how to donate my work to organizations in need. You are awesome 🎉
I am literally in the middle of cleaning out my room and it is literally covered in yarn.....I'm sixteen and have been buying yarn since I was around 10 ( I started crocheting when I was 8) and now I have too much and my ADHD self has so many projects hat I have started but haven't finished lol
Thanks for sharing all your helpful ideas from your yarn stash & projects Elise. What I’ve started to do is every time I purchase yarn that’s a ‘must have’ with a project in mind, I purchased some clear plastic bags that are zippered, placed the yarn in it with a ‘To Do’ note which includes the name of the crochet project along with the UA-cam video tutorial for reference & crochet hook size. This helps me keep track of upcoming crochet projects. I also try to include a photo of it in the plastic bag & I do a sample such as a granny square if that’s the project that I want to work on next & so on.
I am cleaning out my mother’s house and have found soooo many unfinished crochet and knit projects that she spent so much time on, but I don’t know what she intended for them to be😟 Don’t want to just put them in the trash, but I’m at a loss as to what to do with them. AND she has so much yarn, but mostly in colors I’m not that excited about. Wondering where I can donate some of these things!

They look better just sitting there for me to look at😭 i keep started and then frogging everything I try to make with jt. It’s like some yarns look so pretty in a skein, but when you work it up the colors are just too hectic and it looks like colorful puke.
I totally understand that!! 🧶🧶🧶
Not being able to crochet ALL the things I plan to crochet is actually a nice problem!
It is a good problem to have! 🧶🧶🧶
I love your channel so much! This video is super helpful. I'm on a yarn diet, since I really need to use up my stash! I hope you have a lovely day. Ciao! Erica
Love that term "yarn diet"!!! Perfect description! 🧶🧶🧶
I’m currently doing the same thing. How did I get so much yarn??? I’m working through my 100% cotton yarn and making soap sacks and preemie hats. That will take me about 6 weeks. I’ve put myself on yarn probation!
Lol! Love that.... yarn probation! 🧶🤣❤️
Oooh! Wonderful!! Thank you for sharing!! 🧶🧶🧶
Wonderful!! 🧶🧶🧶
Take care
Rosy
Thanks for sharing, Rosy! The Palette colors are so gorgeous!!!! 🧶🧶🧶
Another great and helpful video😊
I fell in love with the most expensive yarn!!! I mean wooooow, what beautiful colours and ah….❤️
Could you please help me with one problem that I have and that is why aren’t there proper knitting animals tutorial step by step, just like there ares crochet ones? Please could some one advise and tell me where I can find them as I just haven’t been able tc😊😊
You're right, there are very few knitted toy videos unfortunately. I wish I designed knitted toys and could make those videos. 🧸
Yes! Definitely check it out!! I have a lot of resources there!! 💌
Ok … now you’ll need to do a video on finished stash buster projects! 😘😘🧶
Oooh! Good idea!!! 👍
Palette is one of my favorites!! I love knitting Musselburgh Hats with it. I used it for my family's Christmas stockings, a Half + Half Triangles Wrap, and I actually have another Half + Half Triangles Wrap on the needles as we speak. 🤣 It's so good!!!
It comes in sooooo many beautiful colors!! 🧶🧶🧶
You always make me so happy! Your energy is amazing! I have a very large craft room and decided to use up all my stash before I begin a new project…..it has been quite a challenge! I am retired and I love making blankets and I wonder if you might have any ideas…like what to do with all the blankets I have made? ❤❤❤
Thanks for sharing!! There are a lot of organizations who want crocheted blankets! Here's a video I did about it: ua-cam.com/video/aH5SK82UERo/v-deo.htmlsi=XwtqAvkcJ95GX_EA ❤️❤️❤️
*turns around to a wall full of yarn and 2 large chrismas bins full of more yarn and a IKEA bag filled with yarn...* I Have no Idea what your talking about. 😂
It's very motivating to use up your own stash when you find the perfect project!! 🧶🧶🧶
🐖🐽🩷 ua-cam.com/video/854aTnolTJ4/v-deo.htmlsi=jPHf1L1GXCuh1B3A
If I buy to much stuff when I am on vacation I get a box and find the Post Office to mail it home. Much cheaper than bringing it through the airlines.
Good idea!!! 💌
I want to add your stash to my stash! So much lovely yaaaaaarn! lol! x
Haha!! Thank you! 🧶🧶🧶
Thank you so much for sharing! 🧶🧶🧶
Hello Elise 👋. I'm working on dish clothes. And a quilt for my nephew 💙. Haven't felt up to doing anything.
Sounds like you're making some nice projects!! 🧶🪡🧵
That's awesome!!! 👏
Thanks so much for sharing!! Have a great weekend! 🧶🙂🙃🥰😘❤
Thank you! You too! ☀️🧶❤️
I have a Craftsy membership but only some classes are included in the membership. Of course most of the ones I want aren’t free with membership and expensive to buy. I will be cancelling my membership when it expires.
Oh darn! 🫤
Crochet shell pattern vest from the 60's - I have been looking for this pattern everywhere. I made them in the late 60's (while I was in Jr high) I have been searching the internet looking for the pattern. Maybe someone knows of this pattern?
Have you checked Etsy? They sell a lot of vintage patterns there! 🧶🧶🧶
Hey, love your videos! I recently moved to SC to work at a Children's Home. I AK close to Greenville. Can you recommend any stores close to me to buy thread?
I don't know of any yarn shops in that area. So sorry! 🧶🧶🧶
Something went horribly wrong…I love your destash ideas but now I have to buy the yarn that you so beautifully showcased. Totally losing at the destash game.😬
Lol!!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Thank you for the free worksheet
You are welcome! ❤️❤️❤️
I use the Knit Picks palette yarn to make amigurumi!! It’s actually really really good for it. Then again I make my amigurumi as collector pieces and not as toys
What size crochet hook do you use??? It's beautiful but it's so thin! 🧶🧶🧶
I am working through some toy pattern books I have using stash yarn, I have a couple and I often make maybe one or two projects but I wanna make all of them. i am taking my time with it though :3
That's such a fun idea!! 🧶🧶🧶
As a new crocheter I try not buy over consumption even as a former knitter I didn't because it cause anxiety for me I pick a project and buy 1 to 2 more than recommend because I don't want to run out especially when the dye lot is a a shade lighter or darker that will drive me insane
That's a good way to keep your stash manageable! 🧶🧶🧶
I really hope you get the skein of yarn! I am trying to bust my stash so I can acquire more of the yarn I really want.
That's a good plan!! 🧶🧶🧶
Thanks for the info. I love the 3 dimensional scarf you showed at 16:26 into your video. I want to get the pattern. Do you know the name?
Yes! I've linked in the description box! It's the Comfy Keyhole Scarf! 🧣
will you be showing us your finished results?
I hope to be able to get them all done!! 🧶🧶🧶
That is what I asked doing I am making a couple Christmas gifts with some of it
Wonderful! 🎄
I am finishing my stashes on the Little cotton rabbits. Afterwords Mary Jane tearoom and so forward
Oooh! I love those projects!! 🐰🐰🐰
I have a lot of yarn too!! I'm using some to make projects for charity!! ❤
Wonderful! ❤️❤️❤️
Love this podcast! You inspire me!!
Thank you so much!! ❤️❤️❤️
Yes your allowed I give you permission anyone else
Hi Elise how are you doing today iam doing fine today thank you for sharing stay safe ❤❤❤
Thank you! 😊
I love this video. I also adore Jayda in Stitches she’s how I finally learned to crochet as well!
She's great! 🧶🧶🧶
Signed up with Craftsy! So many projects so little time 😂
Exactly!! 🧶🧶
Whete did you find the cotton fair taupe color? I cant find it on Premiers website. 😕
It hasn't come out yet! They were giving it out at the conference I went to! 🧶🧶🧶
That's wonderful!!! I'm so glad you sold what you won't use and moved on to projects you're more excited about! 🧶🧶🧶
So all the free yarn ended up costing you $100. Interesting deal.
Yes!! 🤣🤣🤣 It was so worth it though! 🧶🧶🧶
Lol!!! Well you're in luck! I already have that video for you! ua-cam.com/video/aH5SK82UERo/v-deo.htmlsi=1iIMWUCSdkN8iN2O ❤️❤️❤️
I am literally in the middle of cleaning out my room and it is literally covered in yarn.....I'm sixteen and have been buying yarn since I was around 10 ( I started crocheting when I was 8) and now I have too much and my ADHD self has so many projects hat I have started but haven't finished lol
It's good to go through all your yarn and projects from time to time! 🧶🧶🧶
@EliseRoseCrochet So true! I love your videos and I'll definitely be using some of these patterns!
1:34 Eyes are bigger than my hands😂😂 Good one, that’s a keeper!!❤😂❤
🤣🤣🤣
Such a great idea!! Thank you for sharing! 🧶🧶🧶
Thankyou for sharing so many stashed busting projects. You are so energetic love your videos. ❤️🧶
Thank you so much! ☺️
My mom is letting me use her yarn is a little stale but i have been making some strong cotton stuff to put it in the washer.
Wonderful! 🧶🧶🧶
Please check our Loose Ends! They are a volunteer organization that finishes all types of handmade projects left by loved ones after death or disability. Here's a short video I made about them: ua-cam.com/users/shorts7SCubWe7qTQ?si=e-vfU675ic64WsdQ ❤️❤️❤️
@@EliseRoseCrochet This looks wonderful! Thank you so much❤️
I love all the patterns! And I soooo want all that yarn that you showed!!
Thank you!!! So many pretty yarns! 🧶🧶🧶
I love these stash busting videos. I literally have binged several just this week. I’m using up my yarn by making those colorful baskets with the handles.
Oooh! Love crochet baskets!! 🧶🧶🧶
Use up yarn and you have more room to buy yarns. Simple equation.
I have a lot of scrap yarn and yarn tangles i know how to use yarn scraps but unraveling tangled yarn is just such a mess especially because if you have 7 kittens😅😂😂😂😂
Oh my goodness!!! 7 kittens???? How fun!! 🐱🧶❤️
Not at all especially if you are a middle aged person working and crocheting and knitting😂😅😅
Great project suggestions. You are going to be very busy
Haha!! Always! 🧶🧶🧶
Oh btw I have an app on my IPad for free patterns for Amigurumi. I have made so many of these cuties. I use the pattern on my iPad but if you want to download a pattern you have to pay. I love this app…..
Thanks for sharing! Where is the name of the app? 🧸

I’m in the process of itemising stash and doing the same as you xxx
Wonderful!! 🧶🧶🧶
Please keep us posted on your progress on this list!! It is a great idea.
Thank you!!! 🧶🧶🧶
What a fantabulous video, Elise!!! Thank you so much! I’m really REALLLLLLLY REALLY (did I already say “really”?) excited about the “Squares and Stripes Cardigan”! Eeeeeeeeep!!!! By the way, it’s all your fault I LOVE granny squares and stitch so much as you taught me how! Lol. Hugs from Columbus as always! ☺️🫶🏻🧶🌸 ~ Lisa
Haha!! Thank you, Lisa!! I love that cardigan too!!!!!! So cute!! And I'll take the blame!!! 🤣🤣🐱
Enabler Elise Rose Crochet!!! 😂😸
You differently need a new one, that blanket looks great.
Isn't it gorgeous??? 🧶🧶🧶
I saw your podcast on how to realize a fake pattern from AI. Thank you so much for debunking AI I unfortunately have two books I think are AI that I won’t be able to use and I lost money on it live and learn. Thank you so much. I love all that you do, I’ve been crocheting since I was in my 30s knitting since I was in my 20s and I’m 72 years old still going strong thank you so much for being out there cause you’re encouraging me to keep going
Thank you. I’ve been looking for a blanket pattern for yarn I bought without much thought. That Eden Baby blanket is just what I needed
whilst packing up my home last year one of my SIL's noted that I would need to live to a 103 in order to use all my yarn..I replied that I planned to..chuckle..
I give you permission to buy one more! reminder that knitting and collecting yarn are two different hobbies!
