- easy way to cut a one length and layers at home by yourself.
steps:
1- part your hair the way you always part it (if both sides use a middle part)
2- part straight down the middle in the back
3- find a reference point to determine how short you want this to be (for example, I am using my shoulder; you can also use a horizontally striped shirt and use a stripe from the shirt as a reference point- this works really well for longer hair)
4- comb one side of hair to make sure there are no tangles- the other side should be clipped up
5- grab the section of hair with two fingers (crab claws) and slide them down to your reference point
6- finger position should be diagonal forward (think of longer to shorter- longer towards the front of the face)
7- start cutting right under your fingers (be careful, do not cut on top of them). The cutting position matches your finger position (if your crab claws are slightly diagonal, you are cutting right under them also slightly at a diagonal)
If you have a lot of hair, it is best to do this in sections-cutting this in one big section as I did will result in a stairstep look and require a lot of refining at the end.
8- repeat for the other side
9- Check for balance by sitting straight up, keeping your feet flat, and feeling to see if they are even. If they are not, correct the longer side until they match
10- you can point cut this (taking your shears, just using the tip going in an up-down position); this will remove the harsh line
11- to create layers, take a horseshoe section starting right above the temples
12- clip the bottom portion of your hair away- this is the foundation or length- you do not want to cut into this
13- take everything in the horseshoe section and direct it forward; find a reference point on your face where you want the shortest layer to be (I used the bottom of my lip ) I would suggest cutting them very long at first- if you cut these too short (if you used your eyes for example as a reference point) you will get a mullet haircut
14- cut straight across at your reference point; point cut to refine the harsh line
15- to blend the disconnect (layers to length) point cut to connect the line
16- to remove the weight in the two back corners, take a pie slice where the corner is and, hold it directly out, let the bottom portion fall (that is your length)
17- there should be a triangle where weight is gathering; cut the tip off the triangle
*This haircut is intended for people cutting their hair at home by themselves. If you are in a salon setting, you would do a square one-length haircut followed by round layers to achieve this look, cutting the hair where it naturally falls.

I followed your videos to cut my long hair into a bob. My husband says it's the best cut I have ever had. I am having so much fun cutting and colouring. Thank you ❤❤❤
I LOVE this!!! you go girl!!
Thank you for actually showing us the back - hardly anyone ever does!
I have been watching and rewatching your older haircutting videos for years and I had no idea this channel existed!!! You are the absolute best teacher especially for thin hair like I have. Thank you so much for creating these videos!!
I would’ve liked seeing more of the video. Ended too soon
This is exactly what I needed! I used one of your older videos to blunt cut my hair a while ago. I've been wanting layers recently and this is perfect!
Hey, my soul sister! Excellent video, as always. I love that you add your own sound effects (just like I do in my everyday life 😂). Please keep up the amazing work, and give sweet little Henry a gentle scratch wherever he likes scritches! 🐿️
Thank you so much for posting these videos about how to cut your hair at home. In my country, they charge a lot for haircuts. I’ve been trying to learn how to cut my hair on my own at home.
This video is exactly what I need. Thank you!
I have thin hair, and hair loss, great lessons that applies to my type of hair and style. Shorter, blended layers to help with my headaches and chronic overheating body.
Thank you Brittnee!
I'm a new subscriber!! I just got my license yesterday (happy dance)!! I used your video to learn how to cut the 90 for my practical. Love your vids

BEST haircut for fine hair! I always wondered why I still had weight at the corners…thanks for the advice 😂 PS, I always pay my tithing! 😉
That's pretty much what I do. One time I did that Wolf Cut or whatever, and that seemed to work nice too.
Hi Brittnee 😊! Can you show us basics for cutting men’s hair at home? Thank you 😊💖💖💖
I LOVE this video! Thank you so much.
My hair is just like yours and this will definitely help me to trim my own. What kind of mirror do you have set up to see the back? That’s my struggle cutting my own.
Thank you.
Thank you❤
Can you do a video on straightening types? Hair botox? Keratin? Japanese?
Does the ponytail version you do give the same results?
Love it 🩵👌
When you cut it in an angle, does that cause the back to be straight across? That is my goal and that is why I’m asking.
Looks like the end of the video cut off? Nice cut though ❤
Can you do a video on how to do a perfectly STRAIGHT part ? I can’t seem to get a perfectly straight line side part of my hair …..
❤
I've got another one for ya. I'm hoping that you might oblige..... at some point down the road....that would be great!
I have searched endlessly...for instruction.....on how to 'safely' clean my OLD...electric rollers with a velvety/foam type of wrap, covering each roller.
Yes..they are old. They are my favorites. I always purchase them used....online.
There is little info online, but even more importantly....info that makes me feel confident cleaning those little buggers...confident knowing....that I won't blow the house up...burn my hair off....or ruin the covering and inner metal core.
Thanks for all the Excellent tutorials!!
You are my fave.
Oh, shoot....one more thing....I scored a pair of Mason Pearson Brushes at a local thrift store. Those brushes are not cheap....but I paid only $2.97 LOL Luck of the Irish!!
HOW...do I Disinfect them Completely???!!!
I hope they didn't come from a morgue....or from somebody with lice. EWWWW.
I have some, bought them years ago, this might not be thorough enough for you but I just damp micro fibre cloth the lot (outside the case, the sick up heated rods and the outside of the roller, use kitchen roll to dry the metal bit and put the rollers on a clean towel till theyre dry (overnight).. Lice wont survive the heat, dont worry!
❤️🇳🇱❤️
Looks easy ladies….but don’t do it!
I’m gonna!
Weird ending Brittnee
If you're a hairdresser you shouldn't be using the word "shriveled up" for the word hair bouncing back up. Hair doesn't shrivel up. Js
You didn't show the end result because you know you did a lot more fixing up right?
Wow aren’t you rude .. she is a hairdresser .. duh lmao ! What does it matter if she used the word shrivel .. we know what she means ! 😂
Can you cut my hair for me
