Exactly! I be showing her videos to my stylist like she really teaches you 💫

Oh my gosh, so unfortunate 😢
"It is better to just go ahead and take that bad hair off because it's just hurting you in the long run" GURL!! This wisdom applies to so much more than just hair!!!
You ain't NEVER lied!!!
You know what my grandma had 16 kids 7 girls and boys but back in those days grandma would only shampoo their hair every 6 months and all of their hair was to their butts and grandma always said dirty hair makes the hair grow
@@janicetillman6044 that’s a common misconception. It’s not the dirt that helps hair to grow, it’s the lack of manipulation for 6 months at a time. Basically if your hands aren’t in your hair all the time, there’s less breakage. Less breakage = length retention 🤗 💕
@@pinkbutterflies994 could it also be that the natural oils aren’t being removed from the hair?
@RhondaJohnson yep! Hence why her channel is titled "Deeper Than Hair." This s**t really applies to all areas of life! 😂😂😂 It's crazy how many skills and lessons I'm learning just from doing my own hair! This lady is brilliant! Lol

I’m about to trim my hair again and always come back to this!
aha me too
Who’s back here doing their last quarterly trim for 2022 🙋🏾♀️ I follow this method every 3-4 months and it hasn’t failed me yet. Thanks Sis!! ❤
I don’t go to the salon simply because there isn’t an place around me that’s dedicated to natural (black) hair. So videos like these DEFINITELY help. Thank you.
They get very impatient with us.
My hairstylist says she is. But is quick to suggest a weave. SMH
I went to a stylist who only did natural (no weaves, extensions, or relaxers) she did my hair as well as my daughter's. I knew she was legit when she used different techniques to condition, dry and style. Stylist who truly care about the health of hair are rare.
Same. In the salons round my area all I'll hear is "ju need a relaxer mami"
I just go to Fantastic Sams and get mine trimmed. I've gone to other places too like Great Clips. I only get my hair trimmed when I have flat ironed it. Cutting while it's straight gives the best consistent and even result. I just tell them that they must dry their cutting comb first (if it was sitting in barbicide) so it won't cause my hair to revert. I go to the same stylist now so she already knows.

Im.like short healthy hair looks way better than long ragamuffin hair I tell people my hair is long and healthy because I get my trims every 12 weeks I might do 4 months here and there but so important to get the ends do less needs to be off every time
Same. Hair has been thinning for last 3 years and ends were definitely scraggly. Cut like 8 inches last December and the blunt cut makes my thin hair look soo much better. Doing the same as the queen too! Watching my diet, protein iron & vit d. Best of luck to all of us 😚

I’ve been my own stylist for years, relaxing (2X yr), color & trimming. People didn’t believe it, but you said it best, “it can be done.” Quarantine has forced girls to become more knowledgeable about self care & beauty upkeep at home. I think it’s a good thing, besides the money savings you become more self sufficient & not so reliant on others. No shade on professional stylists but choosing to go as a treat to yourself vs going because you have to makes the difference.
Wow S Harper I wish I could relax twice a year! I would be scared that my hair would break off and I would have to cut my hair off
@ S Harper I'm right there with you 2x yr relaxer, color, braiding, trimming my own mane for over near 20 years and I love it. Knowing your own scalp and strands is a whole game changer. Kudos to you for doing what your hair needs. Namaste'

Every time I need to trim my hair I come back here and rewatch this tutorial. My last trim was my BEST one yet. With your instructions fresh in mind, I'd say it took me about 10 minutes maximum, to trim my own hair. If I haven't already thanked you, please accept many many thanks from me. Your video is the best explaining how simple it can be. But I also feel like you remind me which part might be a little bit of challenge. I don't expect perfection (it's a self hair cut on 'shmedium' length hair🤷🏾♀️) but the results always seem to surpass my expectations. I'm always well prepared after watching this tutorial. My next trim is coming up soon and I'm trying not to be scissor happy but ngl, I am actually looking forward to it.

I was paying 215 and my hair is shoulder length and naturally thinner I don't understand the price so I'm doing it on my own until I find a place with more affordable prices
And I thought 100 was a lot. Daaaaag!

To be honest she did consult me a little but washed and conditioned my hair then did a wash n go for 100 dollars. No silk press no nothing. She did nothing I couldn’t do myself. It wasn’t a luxury experience either. The salon should only be gone to if it’s a luxury experience IMO. I sat and waited as she juggled several clients. Never again I’m done. could it be from less healthy fats? Meats and dairy have a lot of fat
@@hannahmichaud1616 Could be. Yes, animal products contain the most fat. OP says she noticed a difference from the changes she's made, so perhaps it was more than that for them. See for me, I was anemic before I went plant based. Eating plant based improved that and I saw benefits in my skin, hair, and nails.
I don’t think the diet has anything to do with it, if anything my hair grows longer when I eat healthy
@@leavemealone3198 diet has a lot do with the health of the hair. If you're plant based and are not taking in enough iron and vitamin D your hair will likely start to thin out. You can be eating healthy but not getting enough of the supplements you need

It might be an iron deficiency, it's very common in young women. There are "Slow Fe" pills (slow absorption iron pills) that you can take and it will not upset your stomach.
This is good info, thank you!

I'm still using this video 3 years later! Please, don't ever take it down.❤
Love your videos, just to let you know, if you are on a plant based diet, I can tell you what's going on with your hair. I went through the same thing. You need to up your Iron intake. My doc told me that most Vegetarians, Vegans etc can become anemic which causes shedding, drying or breaking off of hair. I started taking black strap molasses in my smoothies, also beets are great in iron. I have noticed a difference in about 2 weeks. try and see if that works for you.
Ok perfect!! Thanks soo much!!! Im on it!
I experienced similar reactions when going plant based. Excessive shedding, texture changes, thinning, dryness; it just wasn’t my easy going, full, healthy hair anymore. It was actually depressing. After several blood tests, a vitamin D3 deficiency was found. My hair changes were severe and I couldn’t figure it out. When I went to the doctor and told her my symptoms, the first thing she asked was if I was a vegan or vegetarian. She immediately connected the dots to my diet. She stated it is imperative when going plant based to supplement with B12, Iron and vitamin D3!! After 3 different Vitamin D tests in over 12 months, I’m finally back within normal range, I’m on the low end, but its an improvement. The shedding has stopped and the new growth is coming in.
Thanks for this comment! I saw my hair changing as well and I've had Vitamin D deficiency for years but, my hair never looked as bad as it did in 2020 😔
I decided to ask for a pixie cut in late summer but the stylist totally damaged my hair even more (apparently the salon's products were either old or bad quality plus the horrible uneven cut had me in tears). Its currently growing but it's still thin and lost its shine. I will definitely start taking my Vitamin D supplements again. I miss my hair 😥
Im not even vegan but i need to up my uron intake. My whole body is affected by low iron
As soon as I cut my dead ends off my hair started to grow and look the way I’ve always wanted. Highly suggest!
You are an absolute God send! I live in Quebec, Canada and there are no real options for me as mixed woman. I took matters into my own hands (pun intended) and cut my own hair today after watching a plethora of your videos. My hair looks and feels amazing! I cut quite a bit off because my hair had not been trimmed in a great many years. Your mantra about there being no point in having length if your hair isn't healthy really spoke to me! My hair has amazing bounce and has so much volume! You are a hair Goddess and your videos are so peaceful and relaxing to watch. Thank you for helping me connect with my hair. My mother, also a white woman, never learned how to do my hair either. Luckily my dad grew up with 4 sisters, so he knew how to braid. This was SO helpful!!!! My hair is 2a-2b, long length (atleast 20 inches), I didn't blow it out or straighten cause I don't use heat anymore and this still worked so well!!!!! I've been needing a good cut and using this method helped me achieve it in a half hour! Who else sang “Not the bayang” when she put them curls in the front!!!! 😂 Great results per usual!❤️❤️❤️
Thank you, adding to my saved folder, going to trim next week. Love how a simple trim just makes the hair look so thick.
Very much so!
You’re one amazing lady! I love your videos and watch them before I sleep. Your complete devotion to your clients and their hair is absolutely wonderful to watch and you do it with such respect and care, that’s a true vocation and not just a job that pays the bills. God bless you and your work 💗💗💗
I don’t think a stylist has ever trimmed my shorter baby hairs. SMH. I’m going to use your video to cut my hair! Thank you for this!
Yes Kee! You look so pretty! I love how you brought your hair back to life and set an example by cutting off all the dead weight instead of some of it ❤️
Thanks so much! Yes! Health over length!
She looks like a combination of Jill Scott and Janelle Monae....Pretty!!
Yes, I so definitely see that.
Hi Justice!! Yes!! She is SO pretty.
And Marsha Ambrosius.
And the younger Janet Jackson
Yup! You are sooooo right!!! She looks like Jill & Janelle had a baby girl!!! Lol😍😄
Thank you for posting this video and teaching us how to trim our own hair. Many stylists are afraid to teach their clients how to take care of their own hair because they think this will cause them to lose business, but it's the opposite. I am from Philly but reside in London, UK. When I visit home, I plan to visit your salon. Blessings, and keep on shining your light on the world!!
she’s literally soooo pretty😩❤️ i hate we don’t get to see her face that often🥺‼️
True🌸 she is gorgeous 🌺
She is very pretty she has a doll face 😍
Thanks so much!!

Listen…I freaked out because my barber quit the company. I came across this video, grabbed my brand new shears that I had been scared to use and did it myself. This tutorial and this stylist is the real deal. Saved me time, money and sanity. Thank you for making this tutorial!! 🥰
Your video on trimming your own hair was excellent. I watched and did exactly what you did. My hair grew out over the past year but had no style. After trimming it per your instruction, my hair has shape and style. The trim actually gave me soft layers. I thank you for this.
I think this is one of the first videos I’ve commented on after following you for like two years almost. Just because I feel compelled to tell you I’ve not seen a full video of you doing your own hair before so, either I missed it, or there’s not one that I found personally. But you are so beautiful, your hair is gorgeous, and I love your educational prose. I really love your personality because you seem so chill, professional, knowledgeable, confident, and you love to share with our people, how we can do our hair sometimes ourselves, or how to go into a salon and know what we’re talking about and be educated on our own hair. I thank you for that. I thank you for your great work ethic and your due diligence. I think you’re very kind hearted and diplomatic when you speak on your videos doing A customers hair that especially when you’re dealing with sensitive customers who have hair conditions that create problems for their hair and scalps. You are going in the right direction in educating. I think because you always can do hair on the side when you feel like it but we need you as an educator. Especially for people who have alopecia and hair conditions like that and people who can’t go to the salon all of the time. You are all about healthy hair first versus the cosmetic look of it. You’re just so damn adorable. I have not seen this part of you; have not seen those beautiful lips and smile. I’ve not seen your hair taken care of from the trim all the way out. I love this video. God has you. I know God has all of us, but when you’re in especially good person… I believe that were more open to our blessings God has in store for us. Prayers up for whatever you’re going through and thinking of you. Good luck on your new journey
She’s so talented her videos make you want to become a hairdresser. She takes her time to explain the process so helpful and she is pretty as well.
I swear she is the cutest thing ever🥰♥️
🥰
No ! You have to continue to say welcome back it feels comforting and we know it’s really you when u say it 🤣❤️
Lmao!! Ok!
Your hair does go through some things switching to a plant based diet. However, it will bounce back. I’m three years in, and my hair is healthier than ever. You got this girl!! 💪🏾🤞🏾
Thanks for the encouragement 🤞🏾💜
Just coming out of braids for the last 2 years, passively grow my hair quickly. It was all good til I got them too skinny and had to take them out 😫. I just used your video to trim my hair and I’m amazed that it was so easy and came out with salon quality. Saved myself a lot of money and took advantage of my straight hair with a fresh keratin treatment. You are beautiful and this video is amazing. Thank you so much!
I was like nooo don’t cut that much off. After I’m like “where can I get those scissors?” Your hair turned out beautifully. And I love love love your vibe. Your whole channel and the deeper than hair tag is so on point! It’s something about you for sure that sets you apart from All these other you tubers. Keep walking in your gift. And I was definitely waiting on this video. Thank you.
Thanks sooo much!!
So glad to hear about you being plant based. I started 7 years ago and my hair thinned out. I went to a nutritionist and we realized I was vitamin D and B deficient and that I wasn't eating enough calories. After I took care of that, my hair is back to normal. It is also bleach processed and letting it get wet in the chlorinated pool water really dried it out which made the ends snap off easier.
It is not unusual to have dry thin ends in the winter time . Hats , ponytails & dryness It’s the part that touches your shoulders. Different fabrics rubbing against your ends. Protective styles and nightly conditioning your ends . And taking iron ( especially women) , you’ll see a difference in 3-6 months.
Yeah. My ends feel a little crunchy and I had a quite a few split ends (I search-and-destroyed them already), but they still curl up really well and spring back like healthy hair, and look about the same shade as my roots. My last real haircut was two and a half years ago (the big chop) and I have not trimmed, cut or dusted since then. (I actually went to my stylist a year ago and asked her to trim it, but she refused and said it still looked really good...)
I was gonna get rid of the last inch just to be safe, but maybe it's just the weather, and I should condition them every night and oil them up every morning. As long as I still see my curls on my ends snap back I still count it as "good hair".
For me, my hair growth secret is to just not do too much. No direct heat (I use a dryer bonnet attachment on low to set my clear hair dye or dry my twists), not overshampooing or layering it with drying products like gels, oiling it like once a week. For someone with extra curly afro hair, they would certainly have to tweak my advice though. Cheers!
Thank you! I found this when I was so frustrated after a stylist told me they would charge $120 to do this- because they charge according to hair thickness . It came out so beautifully and it was such a healing moment for me. I got to appreciate my hair texture. God bless you ❤️
charging according to hair thickness sounds like theft :/ like that's not even in your control..?
It's cute that she thinks I can be trusted to do my own hair and have it turn out like hers. Absolutely adorable. LOL
Hahahaha SAME
Your comment made me laugh. I was like wow the confidence she has in me.
@@jeanettecharlemagne268 ROFL I know! She has so much belief in us! :) :) :)
@@metuneter2415 are you gonna try and do your hair?
@@jeanettecharlemagne268 Are you serious??? I'm calling my stylist now to get a braiding appointment! ROFL
I love this ❤️ just the way she’s spreading knowledge to everyone, especially those who are not fortunate enough to rely on professionals to maintain the health of their hair 💕
My hair started falling out when I went mostly plant base too, never thought it was connected. Thanks for that insight. I cut my thin ends off and it Looks so great now. But now the grays are coming in haha
@C S No going plant based is hard, because most will start to lack vitamins that they would get naturally from meat that is crucial to the hair, skin, and nails. People should always look into taking the vitamins that they are going to lack from going plant based.
Good luck!
I am so great full for you. I tried this and my hair came out amazing and it had so much more weight, my hair is fine and because or harmonies and stress I have been loosing hair, gaining weight etc . But this video gave me so much more confidence. I styled my hair with a few layers for body , but omgg, my family thought I had clip ins lol. Thank you so much . It's just so genuine and we need more people who can help us like this. I love you , keep shining 🎉
Thank you! This is hands down the best hair cutting video I have seen and my go to. Using your techniques as a guide, I have been maintaining and regrowing my hair with ease. I gave myself a gorgeous haircut this last time. My teenage son walked in after I styled my hair and said it was cool. Then he came back and said, “Man, Mom! That’s really pretty!” If he digs it, I know I did a good job.
