Just read Michael’s comment… I have been scheduling videos nowadays too. I wish I knew I could do this before. 😆 one day I will make a visit to Tamimami!
It's tough for me to record all the time, so sometimes I do two videos at a time. Editing is another beast though, I try to upload every Wednesday and Saturday, though I usually don't edit till the last minute lol
Beautiful looking ladies. I see you are using the “liquids gold”. The schilleriana hopefully will push new roots with this fresh set up. Have a wonderful week ❤️🌸
Hi Nicole, I hope the schilleriana makes it, but the roots are in poor condition, I would like to see it in a couple of months. Seeing it developing new roots would encourage me greatly… ! Did you find out if those were mealy bugs ? What is your experience about repotting orchids when they are in full bloom ? Thanks Nicole and sorry for all the questions.
I'll definitely keep you updated! I'll say that it's pushing a new leaf which is a great sign! Someone said that wasn't mealy bugs but looked like mold. I think they are right. Orchids in bloom, now that's a good question. I usually wait till the blooms are done since repotting will disturb the roots and shorten the bloom life. Something I also consider is that the orchid is putting all their energy into the bloom, and not usually on roots when they are blooming. Not all of them, but some of them. I'd wait till the bloom drops so it can focus on root production. It's a good question ☺️
Had this queued up. I did this when I repotted the cattleya. Just returned and will edit some footage from the festival, as well as an unboxing for Wednesday :)
I’ve noticed my schilleriana not liking any moisture retentive mixes, like with yours roots started to die off in the media, but remained alive on top of the pot where they would dry faster. Then I got a schilleriana hybryd and tried to adjust it to semi-hydro… that was a disaster! Roots were bursting while still green! 😭 took it out put it in fast drying media and now i have new roots growing. I wonder- is it a trait of schilleriana, does she not like wet media? 🤔
Thanks so much for sharing this! I'm going to monitor and may change the set up to something that dries quicker. The good news is that a new leaf is pushing out, so I think all will be ok and more roots will come. Will let it dry in between. Appreciate you sharing your experience, definitely helps as I think of how to troubleshoot!
I love your orchid collection and updates, thanks for sharing these videos. Are these pots in this video "Rigid Clear orchid pot", or "Frosted Clear orchid pot" by Repotme?
I appreciate you watching, and for your kind words! The pots are the frosted clear orchid pot 4", not the rigid clear. I bought 20 of them last year because they were on sale 😁
Thank you for getting back to me!
Giiiiiirl!!! You needed some gloves for that 3rd phal! 😉 thanks for your helpful video!

Oh and definitely plan that trip to Tamiami! It's a nice trip! Maybe next year? I'd go back :)
@@NicoleDeanna maybe? It would be technically a business expense for me as an orchid vendor…. And for you too since you are now monetized. Right?
@@orchidsbythelake I never thought to expense it, but need to go to an accountant for other things, so that's a good point, I'll ask!

Thanks so much Trish! I have liquid gold because of you ❤️
If you are doing like me you are being very choosy on who gets that gold!

Good job👍
Thanks for watching Sanjay!
Ooo where did you get your new sphagnum from? Great video, I hope that schilleriana puts out some more roots!
Someone kindly gifted me spagnum from Amazon, it's back in stock 🎉 Nothing like it, imo. So good!
uploading from Tamiami or you had this one preloaded to go live while you were away? Hope you're having fun in Miami.

I transplanted my Mom's orchid and it was growing leaves and air roots now it is doing nothing. What do I need to do to make some leaves and flowers?
Patience is key. They take time to acclimate and push roots, but take a break in the winter, in the spring they usually come back with a vengeance :)

The white stuff is a mold.
Thank you!
I think so too
