    I don’t know how I haven’t killed my orchid I got it from a friend who was done with it bc it was dying and or had bugs but I had its roots wrapped up in a moss “ball” but I had it in a tall aquarium I converted to a “terrarium” I just have a couple plants in it but it did good in there with getting rare watering but I decided to put in a water and I had a lot of root rot but it pushed out a lot more roots that look healthy and even pushed out a lil leaf. My orchid has really became an experiment.😅

    That’s why i don’t have orchids that need more attention for now 🤗.. In my collection I have phaleanopsis big and minis, 2 oncidiums, one Zygopedulum that I bought thinking it was an Oncidium, 8 novelty or species orchids, 2 bag baby’s one catleya and another one that I found interesting and that’s it for now, I’m full hands with them, I want to see how I do with them during this coming winter.. so far I’m doing well with them, today i repotted one oncidium and OMG those roots where like a ball of yarn, they were entangled but at the end I was happy to see it with its new substrate and it’s good to go for at least 2 yrs🤞🏼in total I got around 30 orchids 😅… we all did kill orchid’s of course it was unintentional but I feel you, we all been there done that 😌I like vandas but I know they’re not for me for now😉

    I just watched your well organized and thorough explanation of the five tips you provided for better orchid growing. Many of us in Florida are recovering from back to back hurricanes. I am still assessing my orchids where they were moved under a wide overhang on my screened patio and placed a fan near by for air circulation. I've noticed that so many of the buds are opening up quickly now. Maybe the change in moisture and extreme temperature changes is playing tricks on them? Whatever is going on it appears that things are out of sync. My hopes for all the growers and vendors for a safe recovery to your growing houses. Many commercial growers have Gofundme pages to assist with getting back on their feet. As always best to you and your viewers. Respectfully,

      @@dsiegel22 thank you for watching ❤️ What happened in Florida is terrible, I have a friend who's home was destroyed, I feel bad for everyone who got damage :( I hope everyone has a speedy recovery as well and back on their feet soon. I do believe the cooler temps wake some of the orchids up! We know phals spike, but cattleyas also like their day / night temp drops and perhaps being outside they had a more pronounced cooling? I wish you many happy blooms ❤️

    If you can't tell which season a new cattleya blooms in, would it be safe to guess that it be around the same time that a new growth finishes growing? 🤔

    • @NicoleDeanna
      @NicoleDeanna 3 дні тому

      @@Joe-nj3bb only if that cattleya is mature will it bloom from the latest growth. Sometimes they don't bloom from each new growth though. If it's a species, you can find this info online. Hi Nicole, to rescue a cattleya, similar to the first yellow and red that you showed here, what should I pot it in. I have a plastic basket and am using leca, but its still wobbling in that. Should I use bark also?

    • @NicoleDeanna
      @NicoleDeanna 6 днів тому

      @@cherylpenn4509 it depends on your environment. If you have very humid conditions you probably want something airy like coarse bark. If your conditions are similar to mine, my repot videos may be helpful (love moss and bark). It's normal that a fresh repotted orchid is wobbly at first because the roots need time to establish.
