Oh my gosh! I laughed so hard when the shredder flew off the mixer. Thanks Jack, God bless!
You made me look! I've had my unit for over 30 years and did not know about the square hole. It's there. Nice tip, Sir, I thank you for it.
This tool lets me fill up my food dehydrator with minimal effort. I have NEVER regretted buying this machine or its attachments. I cranked out countless loaves of bread in it before the bread machine was invented. It has been a flawless performer for everything I've tried.
The cheese plant I worked at didn’t use chemicals for the cheese but actually used a type of corn starch. We had a huge cheese shredder with a 2.5 foot radius shredding wheel. After the cheese is shredded it travels through large mixing drum and that is when the cornstarch is mixed in. They then package the cheese with an inert gas to help preserve it.
OK the look on ur face when it flew off was priceless.. thank you for keeping that in..
Okay that blooper is a reminder everytime❤
Shredded cheese is dusted with potato starch to keep it from sticking together, not some "chemical".
Thank you Jack, I love that you showed the "bloopers" because you know we are going to have the same issues. I hate when they make you think every thing is perfect when it actually takes trial and error. Ive now subscribed to YOU.
Thank you for showing us the part of the video when the attachment fell off! It was really helpful!
Jack, I've got the meat grinder and sausage stuffing attachement. Works great. Grind you own meats and make your own sausage. I also have the pasta maker attachment. Love home made pasta and this attachment makes it easy. And with the citrus juicer attachment, I can juice a BUNCH of lemons for huge batches of fresh lemonade. I've looked at the ice cream maker but haven't gotten one yet. Got to love the KitchenAid mixers.
Bloopers are very educational, that would happen to me too!
It was awesome that you left the blooper in. Glad your safe.
Michael Reis Thanks, I didn't realize I did that. However, you should have punctuated the word like, "you're" and not 'you're'.
Prepackaged shredded cheese is not sprayed with a "chemical". It's just a starch to keep it from caking. I don't want it in my shredded cheese, but to call it a chemical is misleading and alarmist.
Not nitpicking. I enjoy your channel.
So glad you posted this, Jack. Mom left me her older KitchenAid stand mixer with these attachments, but no instruction manual! I had no idea where to even begin. Very helpful.
Good video. I liked that you kept the blooper in! It’s helpful so others are aware of the the same possible mistake.
I bought my attachments at Christmas time but was hesitant to use them. After seeing your video I’m ready to get started! Thanks Jack
Jack more reviews with kitchen aid
I just got my shredder slicer today! Can't wait to try it out! Thanks for your demonstration. My husband loves cucumber salad and I get tired of slicing those little sucker by hand. This should make it much easier.
I have had my mixer since about 1976. I use the slicer shredder all the time for grated carrots for my carrot cakes and I also use it for shredded cheese for my macaroni and cheese. I use my Kitchenaid mixer like my right hand in the kitchen. I have used it for cookies, cakes and my every day cooking. It's wonderful.
get the ice cream maker attachment and do a homemade ice cream episode!maybe a sorbet too while you're at it!
I have the "food processor" attachment that that does everything an actual food processor does except for the coughs and other stuff that needs a bottom in the device. LOVE MINE!!!
Good to see this attachment worked well. I read some negative things about this about it not being sharp enough and nothing works well with it except cheese. I've been wanting this for quite some time.
Showing the cleaning involved was a nice touch.
Yeah I believe he mentioned that on the first video of this year as a new thing.
It is a really great idea as some items clean up much harder than others.
I have the round metal food processor attachment and it can do more than the one you just showed. It has a blade that can dice veggies into 1/4" cubes. Well worth the price. The meat grinder is good along with the sausage stuffer too. Just have to remember that cheese and meat work better when really cold.
Check out the bowl scraper mixer rubber blade too. Great show, by the way.
MY MOTHER WOULD LOVE THIS! And it would make shredding by hang sooo much easier! Thanks jack!
I don't have any of the devices for my K-aid BUT NOW, I would LOVE to have this one! Thanks for demonstrating this one!
Great review!
I've got a slightly different shredder attachment but love how compact this one is!
I never knew about the square hole! Kudos to you for leaving the blooper in. Just fyi, the small mincer is great for ham salad, and if you're adding pickles, do them last and they'll scoot all the remaining egg, bologna, etc. into the bowl.
Thanks Jack for showing us how to use the slicer/shredder attachment. Had ours for 5 or 6 yrs and never used that attachment. Use the grinder all the time. My next attachment to get is the dicer. Seen it demo and fell in love. Check it out
Very cool review Jack! You always impress me!
My favorites are the pasta press, pasta roller and cutters, and the spiralizer. I just ordered the new KA Fresh Prep Slicer/Shredder attachment. Kitchenaid also has a new attachment, Vegetable Sheet Cutter that is coming out in August 2017. I love gadgets and plan to get that one too.
That was a very good demonstration. I've had my Kitchen aid for years and I've thought about getting attachments. This looks like a winner. 💜😃💚
Thanks for the review. I have that same Mixer....color and all. I just haven't gotten any attachments yet and I had my mixer for about 2 years now.
It's good that your "blooper" happened. Now I know to be sure that it is on securely. May have save me serious injury.
2:30 the moment where I'm thinking this is too much trouble
2:30 - that wasn't a blooper folks, that was the actual demonstration!
It was too funny, sorry
DanZero77 😂😂😂😂😂
kitchen aid mixers are the best. built to last a lifetime. my mom has one over 20 years old and it still runs like new. great product i wouldn't hesitate to recommend to anyone.
Thank you for showing your blooper. Shows I'm not the only one this happens to. Sharon
that was neat, thanks for sharing Jack
All this time and I never knew about the square peg/hole removal hole. I stopped the video and went to look and "sure enough..." I used to go out in the garage and get vice grips to remove these parts.
Wow that thing is really sharp! Nice review jack
I have this attachment. Love it. Also pasta rollers
Very good. I have a ravioli attachment. Not crazy about it, maybe i just haven't perfected my technique.
Wow can't wait to try it.
First time viewer here! Loved the video! You seem down to earth and real... which is genuine! I have the Ice cream maker, Spiralizer, pasta press, pasta rollers & noddle cutters, veggie & fruit strainer, the meat grinder, and I just bought the fresh prep attachment. Thanks for showing me how to use this one... it's giving me more confidence to use it.
Thanks. I may not be professional but I am honest. I like just being a regular guy so you can see how it might go for you being a regular person too.
Glad you showed the blooper, just so we know what could happen. Great video!
On the professional models, the bowl raises into position instead of the head assembly coming down. Great machines if you can afford them. I'm still using a Sunbeam Oster Kitchen Center I bought way back in 1986, still works for what I want. Thanks for the video Jack.
Love your videos! Thanks
I love real life! Always enjoy your kitchen reviews! 😊👍🏻
Have you used the slicer attachment to slice potatoes for potato chips? I have the attachment but never used it.
Could you do more of these kitchen aid attachments. That would be awesome.
I love the 3 set pasta attachment very much!❤
I want that one since I've been trying to make pasta at home. My kids have allergic reactions to the ones In the store sometimes. My husband got me the slicer for Christmas 😅
I have the Professional 5 plus but I haven't bought any attachments for it yet. Its very tempting when I see these reviews! I would love to see more attachment tests :)
That was hilarious !! 😂😂
I have this mixer, you are helping me understand it. Thanks!
Great to hear!
I used the slicer to make potato gratin. I haven't tried it yet, but I think the meat grinder will be my favorite
Thank you. I just bought the Artisan kitchenaid for $14 in a yardsale and now looking to get some attachments for it.
I just got a kitchenaid stand mixer for 100 off of facebook marketplace! SO happy!
I got mine on amazon lighting deal for $130 new
My favorite attachment is the Fruit and vegetable strainer. I made the best pasta sauce using it.
i love that mixer, i have that same one. the only problem i have is the bowl it self with the flared sides is exclusively to costco, but that means no covers available. my favorite attachments is the grinder. we use it for chicken quite regularly.
I don't have this attachment, but I do have the ravioli attachment and the pasta one. The pasta rolling attachment is FANTASTIC- ravioli is very hard to use, but getting better at it. Thanks for using the KitchenAid!!
I would have loved to see you use all the attachments and give us a recommendation on what foods would work best for those attachments.
Best. Blooper. EVER!
The "chemical" that they "spray on cheese" (at least the cheese I buy) to not make it stick is cellulose. Which is basically the walls of plant cells. It is mainly derived from wood, yes, but it is just fiber. There is nothing scary about it. If you can eat a broccoli stem, you can eat the pre-shredded cheese from the store. And if you want your shredded cheese to not stick, you can do the same thing with basically any other starch, but the vast majority of people recommend potato since it won't really change the flavor but corn starch works as well.
Good point! Cellulose is also what makes up the outer covering of a corn kernel. Humans do not have an enzyme to digest cellulose. That's why you'll find whole corn kernels in the toilet if you don't chew your corn well enough. :-)
@@sdega315 Great recycling opportunity!
The Spirializer is my favorite & pretty much the only one I use.
Jack, I'm sooooo jealous - you've got exactly the KitchenAid I've been drooling over for years, sigh. Neva gonna justify the expense, though, so, use it well and often, I'll just have to live vicariously through you.
(right then, the piece dropped, I nearly had a heart attack, lol)
I have the same model, but in orange, and love the spatula paddle. Once I got the bowl adjusted correctly I no longer have to scrape down the sides since it has a rubber edge built into the paddle.
Does it mix as well as the ones that came with the machine? I've want 1 as would love to not have to keep sticking spatula in to clean the sides. But figured the spatula on the beater would drag it down and/or not clean the sides THAT Much to warrant the cost.
they work great once you have the height of the bowl adjusted correctly. It dows drag on the blow sides and puts more stress on the motor so I would not recommend them with a thick batter.
I got a question.
ok a kitchen aid is expensive so I have never bought it
but I was thinking if you want to save space and money, would it be cheaper to buy a nice food processor , a hand mixer and bread machine etc.
or a kitchen and accessories
I used to use the shredded cheese attachment, then got lazy and bought out of bag already shredded...I had no idea that's why the cheese didn't stick together like my freshly grated. I don't recall a slot to insert into to tighten the attachments together on mine... Now I have to CK. I make freshly squeezed OJ, so I like the juicer attachment. My husband like the meat grinder attachment.
Thanks for the video man. Your mistakes say you're not biased or trying to sell something. We'll learn from your mistakes...one "like" coming up for you...
Wish we could get replacement parts for that slicer shredder.
Pretty cool. I found these attachments at my local kroger store marked down to $16.74 :)
I use all the attachments except the ice cream maker and the pasta roller. all are good to great,I have had the mixer for over 20 years (k45)
The meat grinder attachment is my favorite by far!
hahahaha "that's a blooper"! it happens to the best of us
It scared me when it fell off. I was like omg!!🤣
just a recommendation but anytime you switch out attachments, you should always unplug the machine, safety first.
Awesome... if you get any more attachments I'd love to see the meat grinder, and the pasta maker at work.
absolutely.
There are 3 different style of pasta attachments.
1) The original, which were dies that attached to the meat grinder
2) Pasta Roller Set
3) The new Pasta Press (I believe is what it is called).
I have the first one... and was very disappointed with it. However I will one day buy the Pasta roller, because using a hand crank machine, I really need another hand to operate it.
Can you do video on corn beef
Great review. Is there a kitchen aid slicer that works for salami/pepperoni?
I do not believe so, every time I google it the return is always for the product he demonstrated. Even when Amazon advertises meat grinder and slicer they mean meat grinder AND slicer combo deal
lol Man that blooper made my day. It is nice to learn from others mistakes, thanks for posting.
do they make an attachment for making zoodles? Like the Vegetti thing? A lot of them of them seem to not be very safe or sturdy.
Yes, they do! They make a spiralizer attachment.
Wouldn't mind seeing the pasta attachment.
2:32 I died laughing at this
Your the best!!!
My favourite kitchen device is my big ol knife.
hey guys... just to say, hey don't spray a chemical onto bagged cheese. its cellulose. which is essentially plant fibers. kinda like how you use flour on the counter when you have dough, they use cellulose to keep the cheese from caking
i trust you mr. kraft cheese company. they probably put the chemicals on the cellulose plant fibers.
Lmao that exact same thing would happen to me with it falling off
Cool
Anyone selling this old model? I need a part for mine!
I love this video so much. It's a real problem for me too at 2:30 of video.
I love the meat grinder! perfect for making sausage!!
Hey Jack, I got my wife this same attachment for christmas or her birthday and she still has yet to take it out the box. I'm going to grade some cheese.
Please review all the KitchenAid attachments and be sure to give the prices, that helps me a lot.
Thanks brother,
Be blessed.
That's a blooper! Lol too funny
I laughed so hard. That had to be left in this video to keep it real. LOLOL
Yeah I noticed when you put it on.. I was thinking, "thats not engaged properly, this is going to be interesting".
I bought a 6-quart pro series from Amazon 5 years ago for $280. I feel it's too big for most uses and would like to get a small one but they cost more than what I paid for the big one. Amazon does have some pretty tempting deal right now, though.
Um. What? I don't understand what "Amazon pushes a lot crap from China" means or what that has to do with a Kitchenaid stand mixer.
I lost my key 😔 I can’t tighten the part anymore. Do you know any suggesting?
I would think if you contact Kitchenaid at the 800# on the machine, they can probably tell you where you can get one.
Thanks!
I have the meat grinder for my KA. It is a must have for any home chef.
I've had one for years and have never used it at all.
I use the meat grinder. It works quite well. Some times if I need ground beef for tacos but only have a chuck steak in the freezer. I thaw it out and Boom! Ground chuck!
When you assemble it, you also want to be sure it is unplugged!
Wow, this is exactly what I'm looking for to attach to my KA Professional! I've seen a smaller version of a slicer/grater, but this is way better :) Thank you.
I can recommend the pasta roller & the metal (not plastic) meat grinder/sausage stuffer attachment. I already have a nice food processor (& a great ice cream maker) so I really have no use for the other attachments - PS - for the holidays, ordering an extra bowl for mixer is a big help/time saver!
haha.. Yeah, need to tighten that screw on the side! I love my kitchenaid. Nice Vid
The newer kitchenaid mixers are not as solid as the old ones unfortunately. I think kitchenaid realized this and redesigned them and now they break far more often. Everyone I know who has a newer one has said something broken on them unfortunately.
