KitchenAid RVSA Slicer/Shredder Attachment for Stand Mixers Review

- Hi Guys, today I’m reviewing the KitchenAid Rotor Slicer/Shredder. LINK to KitchenAid: amzn.to/2fYqmTY
This is an attachment that you use with your KitchenAid Stand Mixer. There are 4 cones that come in the box. They are marked with numbers. No. 1 is the fine shredder. No. 2 is the coarse shredder. No. 4 is the thin slicer and No. 6 is the thick slicer. All of these can be used for vegetables and some for cheese, nuts, bread and chocolate. I’ll use each of them so you can see how they work.
This is the housing that you attach to the KitchenAid Mixer. Unscrew the attachment knob, remove the cover, put the shaft housing in. The pin should fit into the notch. Screw in the attachment knob. First we’ll use the No. 1 fine shredder. Attach the shaft to the cone, put the square end in the opening and turn clockwise to lock. Move the cone into the housing and lock. Screw the attachment knob.
I hope this review was helpful. Please subscribe and I’ll see you next time.

Excellent information and easy to follow directions. Finally a review that actually shows how to use this product. No fluff all instructional. Thank you! 👍👍👍
Glad it was helpful 🤩
It's so nice to see a review that actually shows how well a product works. Thank you.
You're welcome, Jo-Anne! Glad you liked the review :)
It has been about 8 years since I used this. Thanks so much for the video.
wow...again you have saved me from spending time and money on this product. I may just get a regular food processor and call it a day. thanks again.
Thank you for a clear and concise tutorial. I was struggling to figure out how to secure the attachments to the mixer. Your unobstructed filming and pleasant, easy to follow instructions were great!
Glad it was helpful 😁
Thanks for the demonstration and review. This gave me information on how it to process and whether to use it for certain things. Looks like I'll need a food processor for some things.
This is a very helpful review to demonstrate how this tool performs. Much appreciated.
👍😀
Used the shredder for zucchini bread.real time saver.
Love the put cheese in freezer tip!
Thanks 😀
This is a fantastic video, there are always some of the cones you use more than others. I don’t think they make this any more
Really great review and tutorial. Very informative and honest. Thank you!
👍😀
Thank you so much for this review. I like how you did a realistic review of this/a product. This helps me when thinking about this purchase.
Hi, you're welcome! Happy that the review was helpful :)
Thanks for another excellent review. I'm glad I did not buy this attachment. KitchenAid used to sell a combo kit with this, the food grinder, and something else (possibly the strainer). I bought only the food grinder, and I'm happy with it. I have a KA food processor that I like very much, and it performs very well, especialy compared to this system. Thanks again.
Wow!!! An Honest review!!!!! Thanks
You're welcome :)
thanks for the honest review! I guess I'll just stick to my mandoline slicer...
I still have those salad master metal thingies from way back when 😅
Awesome review! As far as the random pieces I would eat those in a salad no problem or if my 14 year old was anywhere near the kitchen they would be eaten right away.
Hi, I watched your video and trusted your review. Thank you for taking the time to do this. You provide a valuable service. I have subscribed to your channel. I will be seeking you out in the future before I make an appliance purchase. Great Job!
Hi Noel, glad you find the reviews helpful! Thanks so much for the wonderful comments :)
thanks for this review - it was pretty right on. I have the attachment but i don't use it much. Now i know it's limitations :)
Thanks for the honest review
😁
Great video, thank you. What are your thoughts on the metal meat grinder attachment?
OMG I just buy and after see the video i planning to return, bad results, plus many reviews online are bad, thanks for the video

Helpful review!
😀👍
Thank you for this video, sadly most of kitchen tools made to slice/grate all end-up doing the same thing, even if they cost more than 200$ or hand tools sold for 20$...
Am unsure what you meant about tightening the shaft using the square?
just tried mine for the first time slicing carrots. wondering if i did something wrong because of the horrible results i watched your video. thanks for pointing out it's just a really bad slicer and it wasn't me messing it up.
Could you review the KitchenAid Stand Mixer Food Processor Attachment?
Thank you! :)
I tought my food processor was not working ''that'' well, but it certainly works way better than this attachment :)
Ok, I found your video cuz I was looking for the piece I was missing which was the shaft that holds the slicer/shredder tools on. After watching this video, I have decided it is not worth my time really looking for it. I have a kitchen aid stand alone food processor that does a much better job!
Thank you, I almost bought this on eBay.. The slicer is a mess, which is what I need.
"on the plus side there is no more black grease inside...." hehehe I love this video and I already own this attachment but it is so odd, that I wanted to watch how it is supposed to work...so it's not just me, good to know.
Thanks 😀
When you first did the carrot slices, you didn't have the barrel pushed in all the way. The new design has the hopper coming straight down, rather than on an angle. That should work better.
Hello. Why does the assembly crack at the back?? Where it connects to the mixer? Thx
Thanks for the review. I think the new version is better.
Thank you, very useful
+Khanh Nguyen Hi, glad you found it useful :)
I always wonder, until what point the attachments are a good investment instead of just buying a stand alone appliance that is specifically designed for that one job. I have the shredder/slicing attachment (different than this model, but still by KitchenAid) and I really enjoy its performance, but I still wonder if it wouldn’t be more practical to just pull out a processor instead of the huge and heavy mixer, plus all the parts etc..
For those of us who keep our mixers on the counter, the attachments are easier to use and put away than having another stand alone item to deal with. I have several of the newer attachments and they are great tools. Since I live near a metropolitan area I have been able to find them at affordable prices on local resale apps. This video let me know my newer style is just fine for my needs 👍
Is the old Kitchenaid RVSA version work better than the new version?
Best review
Thanks Julia :)
Anita, pls review the kitchenaid icecream maker attachment...😊😊😊
Hi Tayshaun, here is my review of the ice cream maker attachment : ua-cam.com/video/4NaS-_m1PjY/v-deo.html
Very informative review as always I was wondering who is the voice at 8:39???
Thanks for noticing that strange voice - I don't even know what that was! I've cut it out :)
bestkitchenreviews maybe ghost lol
awesome
😀
Beware this plastic piece. I found an all metal one from the 1960's. I have done potatoes, cheese, and cabbage and it works so much better than this cheap version that KA made. The metal is cast aluminum, shiny like chrome, made to last a lifetime.
voltage?

The newer version is a huge improvement on this......
"I guess this is grease"? Reminds me of things made in the 1960's where you could just stick your hand into a machine... Zero safety with this attachment. I'm really surprised this thing is on the market. Wow!
I thank you for video. You go a bit fast for those of us like me who are learning.
+Rhonda Bagley You're welcome! I will try to go slower :)
THANK YOU. NO INSTRUCTIONS IN THE PACKAGE OR ON KITCHENAID WEBSITE
Glad it was helpful!
thank you very much for the video. good thing that I didn't buy it ! (it shreds and slices like for pig food )
I have one of these and I never use it. A food processor works better.
AmyLearnsToCook food processor attachment
One of what, the attachment or the mixer itself? I don't know about the attachment but I haven't seen a processor that'll keep up with a kitchenaid mixer yet.
Rvsa ? What does that stand for please?
It's the model code for this attachment
You had your mixer on too fast. I think if it was on a little slower, it would have turned out better
Food. Processor.
Considering how much Kitchenaid charges for these, it looks like the engineering isn't very good. Better off just buying a good $100.00 food processor.
Thank you. But I change my mind honestly my food processor makes a better job!
I have one and wasn't happy with it. Food processors are better than this one. Mine is sitting on the shelf and collecting dust. Wasted my money. :(
I absolutely hate this thing! Bought it when I got my mixer 10 years ago and paid over $100 then. I have tried to use it 4-5 times and it just makes a huge mess! I can not stress enough....do not buy this piece of crap! I got sucked in to the whole....”ohhh....lookie it’s a kitchenaid fad”. Run!

Don’t waste your money!
I’ll show you what 4 inches looks like…lol
