I just purchased my first KitchenAid and this attachment and I so appreciate you making this video! I have never used this machine before and I was totally lost. Thank you.
I have had my Kitchen Aid appliance nearly a year and for Christmas I asked for the Slicer/Shredder attachment. I wanted to know how to use my new attachments and found your UA-cam video, your explanation and teaching were excellent, and very instructive and now I know how to use them. Thank you Christine
Hello Tina, you are so sweet and patient, I love to listen to you ☺️💕 I wish every teacher would explain things like you do. My mum just order me this equipment for Christmas- I hope it will work well, can’t wait to try it out 👩🏼🍳 hugs from Poland, Sylwia
It will slice and shred - not dice. If you want dicing we have the food processor attachment that has dicing or a 13 cup food processor that has dicing with some models. Take care!
I love my Kitchen Aid appliances. Adding attachments is so exciting and I don't have to have another appliance that needs to be stored when not in use.
Any luck kitchen aid will come out with a thicker slice attachment ?? I have their original slicer shredder attachment and I use the thicker blade more often than the thin blade.
Hello - Sometimes product models sold at QVC will have an added item. That was the case with this item. I'm not sure if it's sold separately - you could contact KitchenAid Customer Care to see if it's available separately. www.kitchenaid.com/resources/contact-us.html
Hi Dylan - The slicing is not adjustable. I use mine for quick everyday slicing. For more precise/adjustable slicing I tend to use my food processor with adjustable exact-slice. Take care!
Hey Tina Merry Christmas, I just bought this attachment and I immediately tried it on Brussels Sprouts. I think it actually made cooking the sprouts quicker and I think it would also make a great salad. But for salads, could I use this attachment for romaine lettuce and if so, which blade should I use? Thanks!
Hello - I haven't tried those meats in particular. I did try Pepperoni - with good/not-so-great results depending upon the brand/texture. If it were me - I'd probably try a food processor with exact slice - so I could adjust the thickness to a pretty thin slice. I'd have to try it to say for sure, but I think that's what I would start with.
@@epicuricloud ok cool thanks for your reply. I have the kitchen aid meat grinder and sausage maker attachment but I’ll try a processor.. Excited to grate some cheese tho! My fresh prep attachment arrives just in time for my birthday! Gonna make some pizzas!
@@Focused-ni9qh Some of the mozzarella brands make firmer and softer varieties. I like the Galbani "Low Moisture" it says "firmer texture" on the package - great for shredding. Keep it chilled. Cut into pieces that slide easily into the feed tube. Have the unit running on speed 4 before adding your pieces of cheese. Enjoy! and happy early Birthday!
Hi Renata - I like the slicing blade for cabbage. Since the cabbage grows in layers - it cuts nice shreds. I cut the cabbage into wedges that will fit easily in the large feed tube. Always have the unit running on speed 4. let it process each wedge one at a time - don't apply a lot of pressure with the pusher. Hope that helps!
Hi Marie - I have ground almonds using the finest shredding blade. It did grind finely, but you may be left with some larger pieces in the area between the blade and the housing. Thanks for reaching out!!
My spouse loves to eat raw sliced ratdishes 🤢 and this cuts through them like butter. I can slice and an entire bag in about 20 seconds and It's much faster to clean than the food processor. Next to the spiralizer a realizer it's my favorite attachment.
Hi Guadalupe - every attachment has their own instructions as far as what speed to use. For the Fresh Prep, use speed 4 and have it running before adding your food.
Could you put whole, or half, oranges to make orange marmalade? The slices don't need to stay together, it would just be nice to get thin strands of orange rind for the jam. Thanks.
I have tried shredding numerous things like potatoes and zucchini. It just doesn’t work like shown in your video. The only thing that it works for is cheese. So disappointed
epicuricloud not much of anything.. it rotates but it just doesn’t shred... I cut the veggies smaller thinking maybe it was too much surface to shred but it didn’t seem to matter. My son has one so I think I’m going to swap it out and see if his works any differently. Another thing.. the chute isn’t perpendicular to the kitchenaid. I don’t know if that would play a part in the problem. It makes a clunking noise but others have said the same about theirs.
@@carolynbahney3798 Ok - Does it look attached to yours like mine is attached in the video? When using - make sure to always have running on speed 4 before adding foods. Make sure foods are a size that can move freely through whichever feed tube you're using.
Stop pulling on the wire part of cord. Eventually the end will break off the cord and then you have to play with it to get it to work. Or dock yourself! I'm an electrician

You should do a video on the Dicer Kit food processor attachment.
Very helpful!! Try Hanks for being pointed and on target.
Glad it was helpful!
Fabulous video, thank ❣️How does it work with cabbage and lettuce❓❓
Works well with cabbage! Lettuce, not sure I've tried - I assume something like iceberg wedges would shred like cabbage.
Hi Tina. Could I use this attachment to dice onions? Great video!
It will slice and shred - not dice. If you want dicing we have the food processor attachment that has dicing or a 13 cup food processor that has dicing with some models. Take care!
Thanks for the video. How does it do with cabbage for Cole slaw?
It's good - I use the slicing blade for larger "shreds" or the larger grater for finer pieces.

I totally agree!

Limitations on what it can cut? Like prosciutto for example? Tomatoes would work?
What blade is used for shredding cabbage for coleslaw?
I would like to know too! Great video though!
Fabulous video. Have you made any videos using the food processor attachment ?
Thanks Andria - I haven't, will have to add that one to my list! Take care and thanks for watching!
Which attachment shedding potatoes for haystacks or hash browns
You can use any of the shredding barrel blades for potatoes - I would use the coarse or medium for myself.
LOOKS like you have a fine blade for grateing that did not come with mine and do not see it for sale ?

Can the slicer be used to slice whole almond to almond slice with skin?
Hi Danielle - I don't believe so. I worked with nuts and I believe it crumbled them.

Hi CJ! I'm not sure it would cut the floppy edges of the Romaine lettuce. If I were to try it, I'd use the slicing blade.

My clear tube, that I put the uncut food in, is not attached to the slicing housing and keeps falling off making this difficult to use
