The Earth is round, not flat, due to a combination of scientific evidence, physical principles, and the laws of physics. One of the most fundamental reasons is gravity. Gravity pulls all objects toward their center of mass. On a flat Earth, gravity would pull everything directly downward, and there would be no reason for objects to fall in different directions as they do in reality.
If the Earth were flat, wouldn't objects always fall straight down? Why do objects fall at different angles in different locations on Earth?
As ships disappear over the horizon, they gradually disappear bottom-up. This phenomenon is explained by the curvature of the Earth. On a flat Earth, you would expect objects to get smaller but not disappear from the bottom up.
Why does the bottom of distant objects disappear first, and why do telescopes bring them back into view?
During a lunar eclipse, the Earth casts a round shadow on the Moon. This shadow is always round, indicating that the Earth itself is round.
How does the Earth cast a round shadow on the Moon if it's flat?
When you travel long distances, you encounter different time zones. This phenomenon is consistent with the Earth's rotation. On a flat Earth, it would be challenging to explain the observed time differences.
How can you explain the existence of time zones on a flat Earth?
Satellite imagery consistently shows a spherical Earth from various angles. These images are used for navigation, weather forecasting, and communication.
Why do satellites consistently capture images of a round Earth, and how are they positioned in orbit if the Earth is flat?
People have circumnavigated the globe by traveling in a straight line and returning to their starting point. This wouldn't be possible on a flat Earth without some extraordinary explanation.
How can you explain the ability to circumnavigate the Earth on a flat surface without resorting to unconventional theories?
The gravitational pull of the Moon and the Sun causes ocean tides. The consistent rise and fall of tides across the globe are evidence of a round Earth.
How does the shape of the Earth influence the way gravity affects ocean tides?
Now we get to the funny part: Physics!
If we bring up the Laws of Perspective, if the Earth were flat, the laws of perspective would need to be drastically different to explain the observed phenomena such as the sinking ship effect and the curvature of the horizon.
Laws of gravity. A flat Earth would require a fundamentally different explanation for gravity, one that does not align with our understanding of how gravity works in the universe.
Laws of motion. The laws of motion, as described by Isaac Newton, would need to be rewritten to account for a flat Earth, especially in explaining the behavior of objects in motion and the shape of planetary bodies.
In conclusion, the overwhelming body of scientific evidence, including observations, experiments, and the application of known physical laws, supports the Earth's round shape, while a flat Earth model would require rewriting many established principles of physics and perspective.
I am curious as to how you will answer and explain these questions, and if you could without instantly rejecting that huge text and calling me a brainwashed sheep liar and hit me with false physics I would be very impressed.

It had nothing to do with detecting motion of the earth, rather, it was about detecting the presence of aether, in relation to the motion of the earth. Motion of the earth was a given for the experiment (key point to remember), and what the experiment proved, was that aether didn't exist.

A drop of water is made spherical by tension applied equally along it's surface, when you want to form clay to a sphere you roll it equally on all sides, when the pebbles wash ashore they are usually spherical in nature because the oceans punished each of their sides equally.
When force is applied equal from all sides in 3 dimensions, you mold whatever it's acting on into a sphere, this is not a disputeable fact, but a mathematical truth. No looking at horizons or sending ballons into space needed, this you can know is true simply by thinking about it. Considering this, how could the earth ever be anything but spherical, when a sphere is the only shape it could take to equal out the forces acting on it? If it's not a sphere then how come my feet carry me just as easily in Europe as they do in Asia? How can the force I feel be equal everywhere in the world, but the shape of it not uniform?
It's constant upwards acceleration on a disk shaped world? But then we forget orkham razor, and is the world being a sphere, as a result of its' forces acting eqaully upon itself, not an endlessly more simple and beautiful solution?
I've never been in high enough altitudes for the curve to reveal itself, or bothered to watch a ship disappear over the horizon. Yet from watching the world around me, I can without a doubt say that the world being a sphere, is a much more rational solution, than it being a disk.

So many levels of nonsense, while it is true that if you were able to apply force equally around a tiny body of water it would remain spherical, the fact is that truly spherical droplets rarely occur in nature as force is rarely ever distributed equally due to buoyancy, density, wind currents and so on, this is because water takes the shape of whatever is containing it, the forces pushing on it, meaning the reason a tiny droplet of water can be to some degree spherical is because of its tiny size as soon as you add more water it is no longer spherical as water has more density than air, it will be pushed out more by more water, overcoming the force of the air thus losing its spherical shape as it seeks the path of least resistance, which will now no longer be up, again as a result of density. This nature of water is what makes it such a reliable tool for measuring flat surfaces. This is simply not true, pebbles are rarely ever spherical and the oceans don't punish each side equally, oceans have ocean currents, which do not work the same way as you shaping clay with the intention to make it spherical.

What forces do you know are acting on it, that are not simply forces you assume due to your assumed model. As already explained there is no way water would take a spherical shape unless it is fully contained within something spherical, without a space containing less dense material such as air, in which case it would flow to the bottom of the spherical container and the air to the top, resulting in a flat surface.

1) If gravity isn't real then why objects with different densities fall at the same time in the vacuum?
2) If water always finds its level then what shape oceans are supposed to be on the globe model?
3) Why cohesive force can bend water but gravity can't?
4) If the moon is very close (which supposedly explains rise and set) and it's moving right above our heads, then why its shape or face never changes duringthe night?

I've determined the earth is round while flying in an airplane, seeing eclipses, and looking through my binoculars at the moon and planets. I even saw Jupiter's four moons. You don't have to be an astronomer to come to the conclusion the earth is spherical.

Actually they should have to use GPS. But make them earn it. First, take them out somewhere, give them a somewhat general idea where they might be, and let them find their way out using their idea of how to get from point A to point B. Let them see how that works. Then tell them to get from point A to point B using specific places (think exotic travel). See if they can prove that.
Aaah, you know what - they still wouldn’t understand that there’s a center core beneath the earth’s mantle and every place is equidistant to it (that’s one of my “make ‘em prove this” points of how the earth is not flat). These people would debunk their own ingrown toenails.

I once had a couple of dates with a person before I found out they were a flat-earther. A friend warned me that flat-earthers and conspiracy theorists tend to have trust issues and are high suspicious of everyone and everything beyond just having healthy skepticism. On our third date, I was surprised with a trip to a flat earth meeting in my local area. The people there seemed nice enough, but their non-scientific approach to explain answers was really uncomfortable. I'm no way a scientist, but find aspects of science interesting. Hey, I watch NOVA on PBS, enjoy Neil Degrasse Tyson's opinions on different topics and mostly listen to my doctor. I just found these people and my date to be operating in a different reality based on their own set of "facts" and beliefs. A long story short, I wasn't really into that person I had dated and could foresee us getting into some uncomfortable discussions and unavoidable arguments.
