Watched outback trucker's here in NZ,and one of the drivers out in the boonies said, depending on which way to wind blows,is which side of the road you drive on,ie,if its blowing from your left, drive on the right-hand side, that way, driver's coming up behind you, have a clear view of the road ahead, and not driving through all the dust thrown up by the truck/vehicles they're trying to pass I always, watch these when they show up on my page, thanks great Aussie video as always,

Love how they respect the road trains and get on the side for them

You either do that, or the road train teaches you respect if it doesn’t kill you.

When passing on the dirt with the wind going from left to right call up most road trains will move over to the right hand side of the road and let you pass dust free with clear vision

Australia seems to still use real trucks . Here in the U.S. the girly men and non stop lawsuits have turned truck driving into a total joke , auto transmissions , front and driver facing spy - nanny cameras so the company can easily fire the driver , collision mitigation garbage radars , RUDE DRIVERS that take their breaks on the fuel islands and dont give a damn about anyone else but themselves , foreign drivers that cant speak english tailgating and driving like there in a nascar race , idiots unprepared for winter have no idea how to put chains on a truck etc etc etc

Where most of this footage was shot , the iron ore area around Port Hedland, it's the same , two in cab cameras, electronic logbooks, mt data , lots of inexperienced drivers due to the high demand and the draconian rules pushed all the old timers away , endless staff turnover , huge percentage of Indian drivers with limited experience and skills
On top of that most newer drivers come from large long haul fleet companies and have never changed a wheel before or adjusted their own brakes etc , all the stuff you learn when you start out driving for a real trucking company, these days unfortunately companies only require steering wheel attendants , presently drivers are merely a unavoidable inconvenient expenditure that they are longing to do make obsolete with atomisation and autonomous trucking, already used extensively in internal mine operations, even triple road trains !
Greetings from Australia, old school truckie
