This was fun. I love that she went along when she really didn't seem too sure. One of the rare times when it did not seem rehearsed and Colbert getting his guests to play along is absolutely his strong suit.
Carly and James Taylor had a huge hit with MOCKINGBIRD in the mid 1970's...and we absolutely loved watching Carly do this with Stephen. Carly is amazing as always...she looks fabulous...and she recently turned 70!!
When I'm older I also want to sing my favorite songs with my favorite singers. I love to see Colbert live the dream, the whole thing is just awesome. :)

And you have the whole audience involved! However, I question whether this performance was rehearsed or not, but it is wholesome nonetheless.
I don't think it was rehearsed. The second half had a lot of made up words but pros that they are, they just kept going. You could feel the connection. Spontaneous and real. He seems to lean toward the older audience, like me, a true baby boomer who loves Carly Simon and James Taylor. Oh the good old days of 60s folk music and hootenannies!
