As a British person watching this it's so entertaining. I can't believe that Americans could possibly be going from this guy to Trump for your next president. Unreal. What did you do? RaPtorteAm I never said any where in my comment that Britain was any better. And whilst leaving the EU was a bad call it's no where as funny and cringe worthy as this Trump/Clinton Presidential election. Every it gets better. Trump the gift that keeps on giving.
To be honest, the Obama Presidency felt like something too good to last. Remember, our President before Obama was Bush, so it felt like we could just never do right. When Obama did get elected, it felt like a kid finally getting that new toy he wanted, he just had to be careful not to break it, made ever harder by the fact that other kids are constantly trying to break the new toy at school, claiming "The toy isn't really from the US!" and "This toy goes against all of my traditional, Christian values!" Metaphor aside, Obama was the first ray of light that America had seen in a while. Like a misplaced blind in a dark room, he provided just enough light to make it so we can see how a president should really be. Either Trump or Clinton is going to be ridiculous, but both of their approval ratings are so low that third party candidates, like those of the Green and Libertarian parties are actually being taken seriously for once, not even to mention how far Sanders got in the Primary. So yeah, the next 4-8 years are going to suck no matter how you swing it, but the fact that people like these can get as far as they can in an ongoing era of failed wars (starting with Vietnam), maliciously bad presidents like Clinton (Bill) and Nixon, and well-intentioned but destructive presidents like Reagan, it's really refreshing to finally have hope of things working out for the common folk. Oh, I completely left out that the Department of Justice finally ruled private prisons as against the law. That's the first real step we've taken towards benefiting the small man since, arguably the end of the Great Depression and the start of the Social Security system (not really, there's been other good stuff to happen for us, I just used that example to exaggerate my point).
Watching these political happenings from Finland makes me wonder how Trump can possibly have so much support. When compared to Obama, it looks like America is changing their president from intellect and real world leader into someone with lower IQ than pre-schooler. And that shit is scary! Usa has enough nuclear weapons to destroy the whole world like five times over and now it's propability that someone with no brain activity is handed those codes.
+Psnowdog7 You're going to miss having him as a president when he's the worst we've ever had. I can tell you're an idiot. You even admitted that his policies were terrible.
Somehow, I can't see Trump ever doing something like this. He can't handle even the slightest criticism without having a meltdown. Making fun of HIMSELF would probably give him a stroke.
What-If Machine I'm not for trump , or Hilary, but neither could Hilary. No one except Obama could ever do this. He's the most down to earth and "human" president we've ever had and ever will have
@Doc Vega: Trump hasn't revitalised anything. He kept the growth going that Obama started, to get the country out of a recession the previous republican president caused. Which he did - among other things - by lowering taxes on the super rich. Which is exactly what Trump is doing. But don't worry: the next democratic president will pull the cart out of the mud again, so people like you can keep ignoring reality and think the republicans fixed it.
Remember when the President went to the outlets he needed to, in order to REACH the people he needed to. I miss Obama so much. What would he do today...
@I changed my username lol that was before he was president. His ego has grown to freedom tower levels. When was the last time he accepted a jab in good humor?
I rewatch this every so often. I miss him. Remember the good old day when the President had a sense of humor and could form a complete and intelligible sentence? Aaah, the nostalgia.
This. This is why so many people like Obama. Policy-wise he's fine, there are better and there are worse. But he's such a cool dude you can't help but like him.
I miss the decency, intelligence, grace, seeing a man appreciating his wife, loving his kids, smile, humor, actually thinks before he speaks, represented America well. A wonderful gentleman, respectful, very presidential. Though didn’t agree with a lot of policies, but I sure miss his presence representing America.
If you weight both sides, you'll always find that his positives outweigh the negatives. He accomplished more in his first 100 days than Trump has in 20 months!
"dak lamerbusch 1. no, presidents aren't allowed 10 years, unless the president resigns or is impeached after the halfway point. then the vice president can run 2 more times. 2. if he is impeached, we would have Mike Pence, who is even worse than Trump.
Say what you will about Obama, but there's no denying that every president after him is going to be very boring; Obama has at the very least made an honest effort to get the younger generation involved with politics, and looking at the current front-runners for the 2016 election, no one comes close to making the well-being of millennials a priority. Edit: 2 years later and I've never been more wrong.
It's true. I would feel quite like an employee, who sees his old boss working the receptionist's desk (while the new boss is a POS), watching Obama host his own daily show.
this man had a decent sense of humor and could laugh at himself openly without becoming hostile and petulant. Not perfect, but he sure brought dignity and class to the White House.
Teddy Roosevelt was pretty cool as well, but I agree. Obama knows how to laugh at himself, which is already a huge difference between him and his soon-to-be successor.
Presidents Dwight Eisenhower, and J. F. Kennedy were pretty cool. Even Presidents Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan, the Bushes and Bill Clinton were pretty cool. In fact most have been cool until this monstrosity the Americans unleashed on the world.
Honestly, I would pay my entire semester's tuition just to have him teach my business law class. I thought he was a great president (although with faults; such as our drone program, torture policies, and failing to better fix income inequality- despite Congress' inaction hamstringing him on some of those) and will always see him as a class-act human being. If I am ever a hundredth of the positive influence in the world as he or Michelle is, then I truly made an impact.
When people ask why wasn't Obama lampooned like Bush and Trump this is the reason, there's just not much to make fun of him for where as Bush and Trump both basically made the jokes themselves. But you go back to Clinton and he was the same way right up until Monica, then he was the butt of every joke. Plus Bush kind of destroied the country, something that Trump agrees with and is currently walking down the same exact road despite knowing that Bush crashed the economy and got us into a major war for no reason? Really don't understand Trump he'll say one thing and then do another which is what you expect from politicians but with Trump he isn't gaining anything so what's the point?

Have you listened to him? He cannot speak without a teleprompter. He might as well be the "Teleprompter-In-Chief". All his lines and speeches are written for him before hand and he reads them off a screen. I've not heard someone, especially a President use so many Umm' and uhh's and long pauses in his sentences. He sounds like a blathering child.
Chrisfragger1 Doesn't change the fact that he's funny as fuck. Pretty sure most people wouldn't complain about the way a person speaks unless they hate that specific person.
Not as blathering as you, fragger. It's common knowledge that previous presidents and high level politicians use teleprompters. All presidents have speech writers and proof readers. Why don't you do a little research about the subject before blathering about shit you know nothing about, nutfuck.
Chrisfragger1 Oh, the teleprompter jab! So funny! You know what else is funny? Watching conservatives mock him for using a teleprompter ... *while reading their lines from teleprompters!* All the recent presidents _and_ president-wannabees have used them. Even Saint Reagan often used one! Use your Google-Images.
The really sad thing, is that Trump couldn't do this, he just wouldn't get the jokes, and he lacks the humility ... well that and he can't put this many words together in a sentence :)
Much of Cabinet Battle 1 was phrased in a way to highlight the similarities to modern politics, including that line, as well as "This financial plan is an outrageous demand, and it's too many damn pages for any man to understand."
Or, to make a less sophisticated, more video-gamey reference, "Everyone fights in the console wars! We don't like ours, but we sure hate yours!" I'm all for it when people see something as bad and propose something better. Less enthusiastic when all they do is say "You guys and all your ideas suck! We're much better! Nyeeeeh!" like a bunch of 7-year-olds...
Basically, yes. The one Mitt tried proposing was basically the same damned thing, it just didn't have Obama's name on it and the right was all for it. That;s all this is for some people, some fucking game and whoever gets the most points wins.
Mr. President...I voted for you both times because of your wisdom, sense of humour, your overall intelligence. and for what you accomplished under extremely difficult obstruction by the right. Your leadership at a very difficult time in American history, and all the other wonderful things about your Presidency. Oh what I wouldn't give to have you and Michelle back in the Whitehouse...instead of what we ended up with...the Village Idiot. Enjoy your retirement Sir...you certainly deserve it.
It's funny how you never mentioned voting for him because of his policy. That's why Trump is a better PRESIDENT. I agree that Obama is a quite likeable guy with a nice personality. I find Trump bland and boring. But Trump's policies are what got him elected, and that's what makes him a better president.

Yeah, In 4 years time when Michelle Obama is running for president which gives President Obama plenty of time to come up with jokes about his wife since his writer is about to lose his job.
Please list each and every act that you assert Obama did that was treasonous? Specific acts. And include details that make the act treasonous (the law or constitutional provision). If you cannot do so, then you must retract your slanderous statement.
This video entirely sums up the difference between Trump and Obama: the ability to not only take criticism without becoming angry, but the ability to roll with it and laugh at oneself. I felt this made him more relatable than Trump ever could be... Who is constantly on the defensive... Which is ironic, considering one of the apparent "strengths" of Trump is he's easily accessible, that he is more in-tune with the average American.
UA-cam Monitor how so? Came into office during a recession and made the economy steady meanwhile he had a republican majority house and senate that refused to work with him on anything progressive. Trump on the otherhand has kept 0 of the promises he made besides tax cuts for the rich .
@@emmanueladeniyi4137Obamacare removed health insurance from working familes making it so expensive that many do without. Except the illegals of course, best service 100% free.
UA-cam Monitor but now people are able to get insurance that would never had been able to before. Obama’s biggest mistake on healthcare was copying the republican’s version of healthcare in hopes that they’d be happy. He should have just gone with single payer or copy what other nations do. Plus the ACA wouldn’t have been as much of a failure if the republicans didn’t do their upmost to gut it.
I miss Obama. He was far from perfect, but goddamn was it nice to have a self-aware president who could take criticism. Now we've got a humorless dolt who speaks broken English and can't take an ounce of criticism.

Dear Americans complaining about healthcare. Please consider this: here, in Germany and other European countries, we've been using an obligatory insurance for ages and it works pretty well. We all pay for it, and we all profit from it. This is called solidarity and it's the only way to garantee equality in terms of health, which is a fundamental right. So, if you are against it, you're just being selfish. And that's one of the biggest problems in the world. You think that everyone is taken care of if everyone takes care of himself. But this only works for people with proper income. The deal should be slightly different. If everyone takes care of others, everyone is taken care of. Call it the "Jesus way".
***** 1. He's not forcing his opinion on anyone, he's simply stating his opinion. I believe that's what comments are for - opinions. It's your option to believe them or not 2. Just because he's from Germany doesn't mean he's responsible for the atrocities that have happened in the past or that he even remotely agrees with the views of Hitler, etc. Try looking into WWII from a German's perspective - Read something!
Coosie you miss the point. our Left and Right here is not the same as in Europe. There the Gov't is all in or out here we always used a mix with Gov't in support of Private Sector. Now the Gov't is controlling the whole thing and it is worse .... Our systems are different you think there is only one way that Gov't can be done and goals achieved ?
Most other countries have access to the national healthcare system. Instead we are told we can get insurance through some company with a little bit of reduced costs(unless you are poor), except all the insurance companies costs have grown dramatically since healthcare was passed. I now HAVE to pay almost double for me and my family what I would have otherwise for healthcare insurance. I think national healthcare is necessary but when I can't afford my car payments and insurance and other necessities that get me to work then it becomes more of a useless burden.
If the government was controlling the whole thing, then we'd have a single payer by now. Obamacare is different in that it is a reflection of mixing government and the private sector. This government is HELPING everyone. Before the ACA do you know who signed up for insurance? Sick people. Insurance companies always had a high risk pool because the healthy never sign up and the low-income could never afford health insurance. Because of that, insurance companies denied many people insurance and prices were always rising or extremely high. Now that insurance is mandatory/lack of insurance in taxed, the healthier people are buying insurance, lowering the risk pool. That's why premiums have not gone up. Also, before the uninsured would be rushed to the ER and never be able to pay for the exorbitant hospital costs. Therefore, hospitals would lose a crazy amount of money. However, now that many people have insurance, more hospital bills are getting paid. Now, almost everyone has access to healthcare and health insurance.
people hate this man for things a Republican based house had control over. (so for no good reason at all) i personally love Obama and wish he could run agaon
I think it's sad. BUT! Little known fact: Professional comedy started with the Court Jester in Medieval Europe. The Jester's job was not actually to entertain the king. The Jester's job was to report the news to the king--or perhaps more importantly, to report the news that the King did not want to hear in a way that wouldn't make him angry or upset. The more you know.
He was personable, sure, but he also expanded the surveillance-state, bungled numerous foreign policy situations, ran-up the deficit for little benefit, failed to bust-up conservative obstruction, continued neoliberal interventionism, and constantly passed the buck by insisting his hands were tied when he was challenged on how little progress he was making. Clinton was a better President and he left the office in disgrace. Obama isn't as bad as his haters insist, but if you think he was the best ever, then you've got a short memory.

+Hando Beatzs you know it's because all of us who are not conspiracy theorists hear so many unsubstantiated conspiracies that if a conspiracy theorist actually is right about one we still won't believe them because they continue to throw around these radical ideas; ideas that quite frankly their are nearly always a thousand different reasons why it makes more sense that they wouldn't be true. Ideas they refuse to criticize on their own and force everyone else to criticize for them.
Just by you saying he wasn't the best President means he was just that' the best President. You as well as others will admit it 20 or so yrs from now. Which is cool because in America, we never give the Greats credit until their death. Hence the reason for :the dead Presidents" currency. Unlike other countries their leaders are still living while their face is on their currency.

@N P C I'm sorry, but could I ask how you defend his "grab them by the pussy" statement? Because that's pretty damn sexist, and all around awful. That was definitely the moment I decided he was not someone I'd ever support. Sure, Democrats might also do questionable things, but its not a matter of one side is right and the other is wrong - you can easily have both be wrong. Of course, that also means you can easily have both be right and make valid points - things aren't black and white. Stop labeling things by what side of the aisle they fall on. Trump is not someone that should be in charge of this country. It doesn't matter which side he's on for that to be the case. It doesn't matter whether other people have done bad or questionable things too - this does not negate what he has done. How terrible he is is entirely independent of such factors.

He made fun of himself in a Late Show with Jimmy Fallon segment by interviewing himself in a mirror.

@Doc Vega:
Trump hasn't revitalised anything. He kept the growth going that Obama started, to get the country out of a recession the previous republican president caused. Which he did - among other things - by lowering taxes on the super rich. Which is exactly what Trump is doing.
But don't worry: the next democratic president will pull the cart out of the mud again, so people like you can keep ignoring reality and think the republicans fixed it.
remember when the President can show up in talk shows, even comedy shows. and isnt afraid to make fun of himself?
Remember when the President went to the outlets he needed to, in order to REACH the people he needed to. I miss Obama so much. What would he do today...
@I changed my username lol that was before he was president. His ego has grown to freedom tower levels. When was the last time he accepted a jab in good humor?
@I changed my username lol Bro that roast is older than Obamacare, it has no bearing on his presidential status.
The corporations that pay for these shows loved Obama's policies. They hate Trump. Understandable: Wellpoint's Liz Fowler wrote Obamacare.

Say what you will about Obama, but there's no denying that every president after him is going to be very boring; Obama has at the very least made an honest effort to get the younger generation involved with politics, and looking at the current front-runners for the 2016 election, no one comes close to making the well-being of millennials a priority.

Chrisfragger1 Doesn't change the fact that he's funny as fuck. Pretty sure most people wouldn't complain about the way a person speaks unless they hate that specific person.
Not as blathering as you, fragger. It's common knowledge that previous presidents and high level politicians use teleprompters. All presidents have speech writers and proof readers. Why don't you do a little research about the subject before blathering about shit you know nothing about, nutfuck.

It's your option to believe them or not
2. Just because he's from Germany doesn't mean he's responsible for the atrocities that have happened in the past or that he even remotely agrees with the views of Hitler, etc. Try looking into WWII from a German's perspective - Read something!
@Cootsie Bollins : Ignore Jack the prick. I'm an American and I agree with your comment.

+codzomz well they tried, but you know they have to respect the guy at the same time, he is their President and thus it can be a little difficult knowing where the line is between humour and pissing of one of the worlds most powerful people
+OrionoftheStar Politics and hollywood have the same DNA. Get your act together, Americans. This is the same guy who is planning a thermonuclear was against Russia.
2019 .. missing so much what is to have a real president and true leader
Obama wasn't necessarily the best president, but you have to admit, he was probably the coolest.
Sean Moriarty tied with JFK and Clinton
was the best to me
Just by you saying he wasn't the best President means he was just that' the best President. You as well as others will admit it 20 or so yrs from now. Which is cool because in America, we never give the Greats credit until their death. Hence the reason for :the dead Presidents" currency. Unlike other countries their leaders are still living while their face is on their currency.
u r delusional
oops wrong response....miss me obama
I would vote for him again. 8 years is not enough to fix the issues.
Watching this in 2019, trying to keep alive the memory of what a real President is,
Carol Nikitaides totally agree with you Carol. Miss not having a jackass as President.
We don't have a president. We have a wanna-be dictator
At least u guys had one; we in Brazil don't have a good one since 92
To be honest Luis, if you looked at us since '92, we aren't much better. We've only had 2. Clinton and Obama
Makes me sad every time I hear him speak. Thought, facts, clarity
"Nation, as you know, I, Stephen Colbert..."
jfaulsti10 lost my job to a president
You have to appreciate this bit from a technical standpoint. His tone, timing and overall delivery are fantastic.
Who's here in 2019??
I often come back to remind myself what a decent president looks like. Smart, charismatic, willing to make a little fun at his own expense.
Me. I like to re-watch this to remind myself what a president can and should be - dignified, articulate, actually smart, and with a sense of humor.
All us folks who remember what it was like to have a POTUS that we respected.
Sean Knutson Me🙏
They been raptured....lol
Not a huge Obama fan but the national embarrassment we've had the last couple of years makes me actually miss him.
Edit: INTERNATIONAL embarrassment
Weird how the corporate media tries to embarrass Trump, but let Obama get away with murder.
@@vanessabeatty2312 Trump's incompetence and proven lies killed nearly 200,000 people. Tell me again the the murderer is?
@@vanessabeatty2312 Trump in the debate refused to denounce white supremacy and right wing extremists like the Proud Boys. The overwhelming majority of political violence comes from them according to all data with no exception. They murder people on nearly a weekly basis. But we have to worry about Antifa (which is not even an organization) because of some broken Starbucks windows? He tells his sycophants climate change is a hoax. This type of thinking could lead to literal human extinction. He is a truly evil person. I don't like Biden but I would vote for a pair of sweaty tennis shoes over Trump. The danger he and a significant portion of the Republicans is almost indescribable. And I used to be a Republican myself.
@@thomasbuchovecky2205 You're getting this from corporate news media that benefits from the "free trade" agreements put forth by Trump's predecessors - Obama, Bush, and Clinton. Multinational corporations and their globalist shareholders hate Trump, and they have the resources to convince you too.
Vanessa Beatty Trump is also controlled by special interests did you forget his enormous tax cut for the 1%. Also again, over 300,000 Americans dead. Tell me who is the real murderer?
We need late night with Barack Obama :D
I googled "has Colbert ever made an Obama joke" and ended up here.
I guess that answers my question.
You must be new here.
+coyotemojo What a smart thing to google. Because google totally understands questions and won't just show you popular pages / content based on the keywords "colbert" and "obama". Right?
coyotemojo "it's a joke."
Yeah, that's always the excuse when people realize they said something stupid. Using autism as an insult only proves how childish you really are.
Here's a couple you'll be able to understand:
Palin is dumb
Trump's hair is funny
coyotemojo Like your first "joke" not very witful. But atleast they're accurate.
I don't care about your politics. If you don't accept that this man was the most charismatic President of the last thirty years, you're deluding yourself.
hughtubecube Yep, 30... Reagan
Yeah, gee. Before he campaigned for president, he was just another lovable reality show clown. Then when he started running for the most powerful office in the country and started insulting veterans and spewing racist and sexist comments, people started to hate him. I wonder why? Oh I know! It was "media propaganda."
N P C stop being an internet troll. It’s clear your just going to comment sections to try to instigate. No one could possibly be as ignorant as your pretending.
Anyone at 2019 missing these type of presidents?
I would prefer Obama as President over Trump or Hillary any day
I would prefer Colbert over trump and Clinton
+Radiotypical I think you meant "fuckwad orange." I'm sure his brain consists of orange pulp and orange seeds to account for all the acidity he's spewing from his mouth, so it wouldn't be too far off to just call him an orange.
The Obama Report would be brilliant.
How can you not love President Obama?
If you keep in mind his promises in 08 and his appointee to the FCC office for example I can see how "love" is not what progressives feel for him. I don't even want to start with the racist.
Well I mean it's painfully obvious these appearances are too promote ObamaCare, so it takes a bit away from it.
In the beginning of Obama's presidency i was a teenager and deeply Republican. I wish I could go back and relive those 8 years again. I was so afraid of him. Now I know what real fear is in trump... oh to go back to a president with a brain again 🤦♀️
jessibell 1234 good for you. Trump 2020
Won't be re-elected
@@booognish Not a chance. You sociopaths had your turn. We're awake now.
