Thank you for posting this! I am 66 years old and remember playing this 45rpm vinyl record about a thousand years ago at my Grandma’s house on my uncle’s old Webcor record player! Sure never thought I’d hear it again! ❤️❤️❤️
You don't hear many duets like this. Most are; guy sings a verse, girl sings a verse, etc, or they sing in unison. This song has rounds in it, they sing over the top of each other. Crazy amazing! Not just anyone could pull this off.
Claudia Gibson Yeah . . . in fact I'll go farther and say he's almost stunned right from the start. I don't think he ever expected her to hit the stage the way she did -- not shy Carly. Near the end, when he's finally found the same groove as she, it all ends abruptly. Yet this is one of my favorite, iconic performances that preserve time in a capsule.
Absolute perfection! I love to watch this because they really seem so happy and carefree. You rarely see James showing emotions like this and he won’t even speak to Carly for whatever reason ( I think he still loves her) but here they look happy! Great music 🎶 🎶🎶❤️
It doesn't get any better than this!! Two extremely talented people doing what they do best. Carly, such a beautiful lady with non-stop talent and her husband, another phenom.

Wow. That must have been a trip to see the two of them together like that with all that energy. What year was this roughly? I saw James Taylor in concert twice when I lived in New York and it was wonderful of course.
My boy friend at the time took my ticket & gave it to his brother, & brought me back a 2 album set & No Nukes poster (that was what the concerts were about). Needless to say, our relationship went no further, but they sure had a good time!
could you settle an argument - i told my friend she was barefoot for this one (1:45-1:49). she said it's beige slip-ons. do you remember? not many barefoot folks on stage @ msg. she looks and sound much better than him on this one. too bad he's such a schmuck. understand she's no treat, either, tho.
If you listen to some of her interviews her stage fright was more of a very uncomfortable feeling of foreboding, anxiety more than actual fear, but she also loves what she does so she deals with it.
I heard this song on the radio - had to hear it again on UA-cam- I got up and danced. These kids- yes I call them kids back then. They had magic between them and it just rubbed on to you...and it makes you feel good all over. They are great, great, great!
Love this so much! Great song. I just love it when she grabs him to dance. Her scream at the end is perfect! Gives me chills.. James is looking good, but Carlys hair is rocking it. ..and I want her jumpsuit lol🎶 The backup singers are having a blast!!
Jackson Browne in the audience at 3:45. David Lasley and Arnold McCuller in the background holding it down. Kootch and Lee Skylar out there. What a crazy bunch of legends at the absolute height of their talents. I can’t imagine what it felt like to be up on that stage for this moment. Carly and James are transcendent. Keep listening to 70's rock it is a mind healer.. suggestions, Lynyrd Skynyrd w/ Ronnie VanZant, Fleetwood Mac (find some of Stevie Nick's demo songs too), Eddie Money , Steve Miller Band, these take your mind off of everything.. also, get you a decent guitar and start playing this is the best thing to relax one's mind, take walks....
We here you, from the north
You are the true hero, trying to live each day after that awful war. God bless🍁
We're from the same era Loves that music, keep listening it will make you feel good. Love you dear man, from Canada ❤🍁
@@1besieged We're with you all the way❤🍁
We're thinking about you, and wish you all the happiness that you deserve!😘
Thank you for posting this! I am 66 years old and remember playing this 45rpm vinyl record about a thousand years ago at my Grandma’s house on my uncle’s old Webcor record player! Sure never thought I’d hear it again! ❤️❤️❤️
I love it! I forgot how good Carly Simon was! Watching James Taylor and Carly Simon is like an energy boost. It's wonderful. Thank you for the post!
the strength of MUSIC, bringing two people who dealt with shyness, and anxiety with fame to give us happiness
One of my all time favorite videos 😊
How real music is done, folks. Amazing.
Tanya Avakian, YAAWWWWSSSS
What?? Are you saying that Cardi B with Migos isn’t music?
And of course, I’m joking bc Migos (and a lot of today’s music) is garbage...not ALL, but a lot.
@@deepalmer3960 lol!
Real music? Ripping off black folks songs and sounding like fools in the process.
you can feel the magic between those two when doing this song
Their relationship here is so great, it makes the song.
Hi Janet💐💐
You don't hear many duets like this. Most are; guy sings a verse, girl sings a verse, etc, or they sing in unison. This song has rounds in it, they sing over the top of each other. Crazy amazing! Not just anyone could pull this off.
Totally agree
They are not the first duet to sing this. It's not hard for people who know how to sing.
@AndrewHewitt-nz6cn I'd love to hear you. I'm sure you would put them to shame.
I love how at one point he is just looking at her in awe. Wonderful duet, from a time long ago!
Truly great musical duo.
Uh......
They were married, folks.
I wonder if it was awe or annoyance at her upstaging him??!
yes i noticed that
Absolute perfection! I love to watch this because they really seem so happy and carefree. You rarely see James showing emotions like this and he won’t even speak to Carly for whatever reason ( I think he still loves her) but here they look happy! Great music 🎶 🎶🎶❤️
One of the greatest duet performances I have ever seen. I wish they would put the "No Nukes" concert film out on DVD.
It doesn't get any better than this!! Two extremely talented people doing what they do best. Carly, such a beautiful lady with non-stop talent and her husband, another phenom.
Wow! That was amazing!
i was sitting in the audience for this performance third row center. this duet stole the show! NO NUKES concert at Madison Square Garden. when i watch it now i am immediately transported back in time . get the soundtrack, you will not be dissappointed!
amazing that you were there Frank
Awesome! How amazing that must have been.
@@micheleengel3428 Agree! Bring back the 70’s lol.
Wow. That must have been a trip to see the two of them together like that with all that energy. What year was this roughly? I saw James Taylor in concert twice when I lived in New York and it was wonderful of course.
are you 100 years old?
Love in its youth is beautiful.
+Thomas Gilman Yup
This was awesome.... !!
wow...they sizzled together on this!! James, buy that girl a Mockingbird, Carly's 74 today!!!!
I love this video!!! I have never seen James Taylor rock out you can see the chemistry between him and Carly. Carly Simon looming oh so beautiful
He was not ,never was a live wire. I sure love him tho. Love his songs.
Hi Pamela hope you’re okay?
He was high, just look at his eyes
Carly was awesome in this song !!!!
Oh God, if only life was that good all the time…..James Taylor & Carly Simon…to die for.
I was 3rd row center for both nights of this MSG show. I have a poster of Carly and James on my wall taken at this show
How cool is that!!💯🙂💖
My boy friend at the time took my ticket & gave it to his brother, & brought me back a 2 album set & No Nukes poster (that was what the concerts were about). Needless to say, our relationship went no further, but they sure had a good time!
next to your Farrah poster? time to move on
could you settle an argument - i told my friend she was barefoot for this one (1:45-1:49). she said it's beige slip-ons. do you remember? not many barefoot folks on stage @ msg. she looks and sound much better than him on this one. too bad he's such a schmuck. understand she's no treat, either, tho.
Jealous!
Terrific ❤You two rock!!!
Two of my favorite performers from the early 70s. Love this version.
Woke up with this song in my head this morning, turned on UA-cam and listened to James and Carly absolutely KILL it. Supercharged my day!
Two of the best performers a solo artist and double the performance together… Two of the greatest
Hi pretty hope you’re okay?
For someone who reportedly suffered from stage fright, she kills this....it looks to me like James Taylor is pretty amazed with her as well
If you listen to some of her interviews her stage fright was more of a very uncomfortable feeling of foreboding, anxiety more than actual fear, but she also loves what she does so she deals with it.
Carley Simon has a great voice. Very underrated!
@@macobats her stage fright was all consuming
@@mikegruber172 I just describing her words. She said it was more of a feeling of foreboding, dread, anxiety as opposed to fear.
@@macobats Well, anxiety can be energizing, when called to a task.
I heard this song on the radio - had to hear it again on UA-cam- I got up and danced. These kids- yes I call them kids back then. They had magic between them and it just rubbed on to you...and it makes you feel good all over. They are great, great, great!
Fabulous! Just fabulous!
Love this so much! Great song. I just love it when she grabs him to dance. Her scream at the end is perfect! Gives me chills.. James is looking good, but Carlys hair is rocking it. ..and I want her jumpsuit lol🎶 The backup singers are having a blast!!
Hello Marilyn, How are you doing?
Better than medications!
Love performance at it's best!!! Ain't Life grand!!!
I’m so glad this video exists.
don't think that's Jackson... he'd almost certainly be at side stage
The Band backing up Carly and Taylor were Fantastic! The Horn, xylophone, drums all of it!🙏💕
What a timeless classic...Love it! And she was barefoot LOL!
Ronnie VanZant of Lynyrd Skynyrd sang barefoot often, and so does Eddie Money sometimes.. it is pretty cool!
she is so often barefoot still, so is Ben.
These two were so great together, incredible chemistry!!
I absolutely loved this song back then! Im so glad I got to grow up during the GREATEST DAYS OF MUSIC... EVER! 🎼🎵🎶
They match so well it's incredible you can tell they had alot of good times together
And then got divorced
