  • Upgraded the factory basic radio to a new JVC KW-V350BT.
    The install is not very difficult with all the parts used, what takes the longest is cutting the metal bracket behind the oem radio to make room for a double din.

    Thank you very much for the step by step installation! It was nice to include the wiring harness as well. Question where did you install the mic? It looks like it's center over the drive on the roof panel? Did you run the wire up the side pillar?

    • @esqu3l3to
      @esqu3l3to  3 роки тому

      Thanks! Glad its helped you out. I did place the mic originally by the gauges but there was no good way to make it stay in place, so I ended up placing it ut the top of the headliner. I did run it up the pillar and tucked it behind the weather seal without having to remove it. I pulled it back with my fingers and pushed the wire in. Now it sits nice and solid at the top.

      I have a 2016 Ram 1500. No touch screen or Alpine system. Very basic factory system. Will the stereo harness that you posted a link for work for my truck? I bought a Boss Bluetooth/DVD player. And a separate back up camera.

      Sorry for the late reply, yes it should work. The harness is made to be used for base and upgraded models.

      There should only be one red wire (ignition) which will connect to the new radio red wire.

    Hey buddy, great video. I have the same truck, that I’m trying to install a Pioneer SPH-DA 100. I contacted Crutchfield, and they said that they do not make a harness that’s compatible for my truck with this pioneer stereo. Do you recommend splicing the wires to make it work. I sure would love to hear from you. Let me know.

    • @esqu3l3to
      @esqu3l3to  2 місяці тому

      thanks!
      the kit ai used is universal and it capable of retaining the oem camera if you have one. Not sure why it would need to be specific to that pioneer unit.
      I always recomment using adpater harnesses to avoid cutting up oem harnesess.

    Any reason my rear camera only works when i choose to veiw it instead of when i put it in reverse?

    • @esqu3l3to
      @esqu3l3to  3 роки тому

      You need to go into the head unit settings and make sure the rear camera input is set to on. Some show it as "interruption" meaning it will automatically swith to the rear cam input when you put your truck in reverse.

    What does the reverse wire do? My backup camera is in my review mirror. Do I still need the reverse wire? Also what is the module for? I have a tradesman edition, no swc, no amp or anything.. Dol they make a wiring kit without all that extra stuff that I can just plug into the factory wiring?

    • @esqu3l3to
      @esqu3l3to  3 роки тому

      This wiring kit purpose is for you to be able to change the factory radio but keep some or most of the functions like your reverse camera. You would need to use the reverse wire to connect from the new radio to the adapter harness, same with your camera rca. The module is what converts your factory wiring into the aftermarket connections for a simpler installation. These kits are designed to work for both amplified and non-amplified systems. Connect the wires you need and that's it.

    💡Hi, does the new radio installation interferes with the vehicle system at all?? And what about the vehicles information stored or played in the stock radio?!?

    • @esqu3l3to
      @esqu3l3to  2 роки тому

      The new radio does not interfere with the oem features at all. The wiring kit keeps most festures working (if yours has them) including backup camera, tho if its located in the rear view mirror I am not sure about. Steering wheel controls can be kept by installing a module (not part of the kit). If yours has other features that you want to keep or even access then I would suggest using the maestro rr system.

      Just make sure to disconnnect the negative on your battery before doing anything inside your truck, and that will help not having any issues. Always double check your connections prior to hooking it up again. Let me know how it turns out 👍

    • @esqu3l3to
      @esqu3l3to  Місяць тому

      @jessethabarber without the maestro, you lose all steering wheel controls and any functions related to oem feautures (if you have them) like certain information displaying. if you dont have any other feautures then all you need is an aswc-1 adaoter to keep your steering wheel controls

    • @esqu3l3to

      The truck dash will only fit a screen thats 7" or smaller. If you want a bigger sized screen then you would need a to also replace the main dash on your truck. Having said that, newer kenwood and alpine head units now have 10' screen but with double din chassis.
