Had the same issue today with my 13’ ram 1500 5.7 sport. I had the screen black out & didn’t want to work after turning the truck on/off. Tried this before disconnecting the battery & sure enough, 20 amp fuse was blown & it was a cheap 5$ fix from auto zone instead of having a radio company do the diagnostic tests/etc. Method still works & was a life saver! Ty bro!
Hello Oz from Houston, Texas! You are a great person who happens to be a great mechanic.
I wish you were in Houston brother because everyone should know a great doctor, great attorney, and great Mechanic!
Thanks for the info... just spent 5 - 10 minutes checking and securing all the fuses in my 2018 Ram 3500 Deisel that I could find and she's working again! Life saver!!
I have a ram2018 tradesman. The light come on the volume button works . But no sound coming out the speakers. It is a ram 3500 . It cannot be the fuse or you won’t see the light on the radio and the station that it is on and the volume dial also works!
You’re out here doing the lords work my guy. No way I was ever going to find this
Glad this video helped out. Thanks for watching.
You are a scholar and a gentleman sir. Lol. Just bought a 2020 ram 2500 and 4 days later the radio wouldn't come on. This was the first video i seen. I went looking. Found a 15 amp fuse in there that was blown. I replaced it and the radio came right back on. My gratitude to you good sir.
friend, 3 years after you published this video and it still continues to save the lives of many people, thank you very much, very well explained and very well done, friend, it is my first ram that we bought and I was crazy thinking that the radio had already been ruined by complete but you saved us thank you 🌟
You the man, I spent a hour looking through the book and engine compartment. Took two min after I watched your video
Yea this one was one that took me hours to finally find this
Thank you!! I dropped my ram off at the dealership to find/fix this problem after weeks of trying to find and fix myself. After watching your video, I went back to the dealership and fixed the problem in their parking lot before they took it in :). Total cost... $3 for the fuse from the dealer. Apparently, this in-line fuse blew when the 200 amp fuse on the battery blew.
Took it to the dealer and they said they don’t know what’s wrong but will take another look in a week. Watched this video and took me 2 seconds
Awesome. Glad this video helped out. Happy holidays
Hi, on my 2018 Ram, after work the radio was not turning on, so I started researching when I got home. I was still on my truck and I found your video. On the part you were changing the fuse, my truck was on, and all the sudden my radio turned on and my audio transferred from my phone to the truck. Haha, thanks for fixing it remotely. 😊
Thanks man! I spent all day with no music until I watched this video 🙏🙏🙏
Awesome glad this video helped out
@@OzMechanics i have a chevy silverado 2004 and my radio keeps turning on and off any ideas? And my fuses are good radio wires are good too
Thanks for locating that discreet fuse for the radio off of the positive lead of the battery. I had the same issue with my radio but my fuse was good. To fix my radio problem I disconnected the battery terminals. While they were off I cleaned the + & - battery posts which took about 10 minutes. This was enough time for the radio to reset or re-boot if you will. Then I re-installed them and everything works great. Thank you
Had the same issue today & after switching out the fuse it worked but definitely gonna try this if it happens again.
Thank you. You just saved me a lot of frustration and probably money. I couldn't find this fuse for the life of me

Thanks for the video 👍 This mortal soul would of never known this fuse existed outside the fuse panel 😬 I hope this is the issue on my 2012 Ram 1500. Miss listening to my favorite satellite radio station 📻 on those long road trip for work.
Yea, el gato gordo, when I was doing my research, it took me forever to find that. Glad this video helped out. Hope all is well
This helped me big time, the first did not even look blown but I replaced it and it started to work again. Took a little while to reboot and for everything to work properly though.
Awesome. Glad this video helped out
My dash worked but the sound not at all. Fuse was not blown but I unplugged and reinstalled, which got it working again.
Thanks so much!!!
Awesome. Soo glad this worked out
Hello friend, I already replaced the fuse and the screen still does not turn on.. what should i check now?
Hats off to you . The industry is very bad to us . People like you make it worth while. Question, I have the same problem with a 2006 Dodge ram radio. It won't turn on . Do you think it could be a fuse? I can't seem to find the written diagram. I'm senior with an old Dodge, lol I can't thank you enough.
Thank you for your diligence and support I appreciate your help I have been trying to find this information for some time, take care
Looks like FCA did not have a fuse slot open for the radio when they designed this truck and just ran a wire the same way add-ons are installed. Poor engineering.
I don't think it was poor planning. I think it was deliberate to get people to come to dealer and pay diagnostic fees for bad fuses.
@@daddyof3girls09 I don't know which of our assumptions is worst, poor design(forgetting to add a fuse) or planned obsolescence(hiding the fuse) as you stated.
@@JT-lq4yd I only say that because my fuse box has MULTIPLE slots that are either open or listed as spare. So there was plenty of room for an additional fuse.
absolutely idiotic. no excuse for any engineer to do that. its like they said oh crap we forgot to power the radio. here lets just run another wire and throw an inline fuse in duh

Thanks! I was stumped as to why my radio was not working but the CD tray still came out/in. Yep fuse was blown
This was a pain to find I’m glad this video is helping out others
I had to jump-start my 2018 RAM this AM and afterward, the U-Connect, and the climate controls below the radio (except the fan) were all dead. Found this fuse, it was good but pulled it to rest the U-Connect. All came right back online. I suspect pulling the neg terminal on the battery might have done the trick, but this required no tools. Thanks!
great video. A+ explanation and demonstration. Didn't help me, but helps me look on another pathway.
If the fuse isn't blown what else could it be trying to figure out if I need to buy a new radio but trying to go through all the Diagnostics before I buy a new radio if you could help me that would be amazing please and thank you
Same problem with me
I believe the fuse terminal is freaking junk. My fuse isn't blown either but the stereo screen and the USB panel in the console flashes about once every 1-2 minutes. Even when the truck is completely shut off. Husband was wiggling the fuse and it tried to come on but still couldn't get good contact. I do not get it.
Can that cause the battery to go dead bc now that's the new problem I'm having with it
@trishacrossman8628 i have the same problem were u able to fix it
@@trishacrossman8628i have the same problem were u able to fix it
Thank you so much. I had the issue where my display just randomly started resetting. Stumbled on your video and thought, "No freaking way, those dirty tricky bast****" put a fuse there that's not identified in the owners manual. Sure enough, I looked right where you said and bam a fuse!!!
Customer takes it to dealer, they charge an hours diagnostic fee ( $80-90 an hour in my area) and then say they found a bad fuse.
In my case, fuse was good, just a loose connection. Had it not been for your video, I would have been one of the ones paying for diagnostic to replace a fuse.
Another interesting find Having to go through so much effort to find REQUIRED vehicle info is such bullsh*t!
Almost done watching ALL of your videos! Way to evolve OZ!
don't know if this is going to help but i did learn something new. thank you.
Thanks! I've been looking for that fuse for 2 years.
thank you, you save me a lot of time looking for the gost fuse
I am currently driving in silence. Mainly because I hadn't checked anything. My screen flashes RAM but the back up camera and radio don't work. I just checked this delightfully hidden fuse (thanks for that). I looks good. So damn. I'm too cheap to take it to the dealership. Suggestions?
i did that on mine but it still didnt work. im thinking it might be something else i need help.
You the man!!! Saved me $1,300 dollars!!!
On the diesel engine models the fuse is on passenger (right) side against firewall next to radiator coolant fill canister.
For what year of model?
Wow, good job, I can NOT find USB port fuse, need to reset it as I am Getting :"This Device is not supported" = Bluetooth cell phone connection, so I reset it by taking out for a minute or so. 2020 Ram Warlock.
Oz I have a 2013 with the uconnect system sometimes my radio works fine sometimes it lights up only with this red statement across the screen. Says. HEAD UNIT FAILED TO START AFTER A FEW IGNITION CYCLES. NEEDS A USB STICK SEE DEALERSHIP. ANY IDEAS I DON'T THINK THIS IS A FUSE PROBLEM. BECAUSE SOMETIMES IT WORKS FINE. SEEMS LIKE IF I PARK IN A GARAGE OR UNDER a tree that has heavy cover lots of leaves it does this
You have another problem. If the fuse was bad the radio wouldn’t even turn on
Yes I know this I went to ram forum and other people have this problem to but I never got info on what they did
Bro I'm 17 with a mechatronics background and that print looked weird. Lol good think I have you lol
I think this is the issue with my 2014 Ram.... gonna check it tomorrow in the daylight... thanks... we weren't getting any power in the radio deck control panel and all regular fuse box fuses were good.... it HAS to be this odd spot for this fuse....
fingers crossed!
This video help me out all and save me money as well.
My exact problem. Unfortunately the fuse keeps blowing when changed out. I even tried disconnecting the battery, and then changing the fuse. It blew as soon as the battery was hooked back up. Its a 2014 ram 1500. Never had a problem before until today when the radio stopped working and the screen went black while driving. Anyone have any ideas? Something causing it to short out?
Great investigative work!
The thing that bugs me is, why does an audio unit need 20 amps of circuit protection??
Makes you wonder if there are other items on the ckt that this fuse protects. And what caused the fuse to blow?
What caused the fuse was that bigger amp fuse shorted out. As what the customer stated
Ah yes. Hooked up the jumper battery backwards. I've had to replace several maxi fuses at the dealership from customers hooking up jumper cables backwards ( or the new lot Porter, lol)
Awesome! Thanks for saving me a ton of head aches!
The 20 amp fuse has power in/out, but still no power behind radio on pin 44. Any ideas?
Good find!
My 2014 is having the same problem but the fuse isn't blown per say. The fuse terminal I believe is faulty because if we wiggle the fuse the radio will try to come on but it just flashes when the fuse is moved. What would you recommend we do prior to replacing the terminal? Or how could we change the terminal without too much hassle? I am trying to do this before taking it to the one and only crook chrysler dealers around here.
I changed my fuse and the radio still isn’t working. What do you think the problem is?
Same
the stupidity of this newer vehicles will never stop surprising me!!! lol,,tnx for video,,,
That was con"fuse"ing 😆
Buhahahahaha
Good find 😃
Gotta love diagrams👍
They are the best :(
My rear right blinker went out and now my center console screen went out...think I have a short.
Dude, thank you so much. You just helped me out big time. Much appreciated.
Keeping it simple
Thanks OZ
thanks you saved my ass and its midnight i just put a evep core in and the radio didnt come back on !!!!! wooohooo :)
Hey there Wayne. Man I’m glad this video helped you out. I’m telling you this took me forever to find. I’m just glad this video is helping out others. Thanks for watching
I got a 2014 dodge 1500 previous owner put a Kenwood radio changed 20amp fuse like you showed but still nothing no power to radio
I'm going to check this out on my friend's truck. His radio keeps shutting off every few minutes and then reboots. It's so annoying. Will check back with you to see if this applies to his radio as well. Thank you!
Did it work?
Any update? I’ve got the exact same issue
My 4.7 ram has the same problem but there’s no fuse like the one you found. I was told it could be a switch that was blown but I’m not sure what switch exactly
You my friend are a God sent 🙌 🙏
Glad this video helped out
Thank You !! I would have never found that..
i have a 2014 Durango limited edition, i had a problem with the radio not working just like this one.. i took it to the dealer and they said i needed a new Uconnect control module at which i think cost $800... i will be really devastating if all i needed was just a fuse
The OE wiring diagram shows it as an inline fuse in circuit A933. Just another reason why the pro-demand redrawn diagrams are not to be trusted.
I’ve learned that with euro cars as well. Always good to have different resources to get stuff done. Its just crazy that they put a stand alone fuse that looks like a aftermarket part was added
Thank you
I have a 2017 dad's Ram 3500. And I have the same issue. Do you think it's the same problem with a fuse
Thanks man!
Hey man. I had the exact same issue with my 2018. Radio justjust glitched. GPS on car play stopped and then radio went black. Console lights around the radio are not working and a/c / heat is blowing weird and can’t control it. Watched your video and that for sure it would help, but My radio fuse is not blown. Do you know any other trouble shooting for this issue??
great video i 3:30 too 5:00 and i can fine the fuse thank you for you time
My radio won't shut off ?? Unless I disconnect the battery??
Can you tell me if a 2014 jeep wk2 would have a similar fuse like this? My screen will not turn on at all
Very good video, my radio is on but not sound, what can I do?? Please
Do you think this can be same problem on a 2018 Dodge Ram ?? Thanks for the video
I have a 2019 dogde ram 1500 truck. My radio turns off when the center console is up. U put it down it turns on. Any ideas
It’s behind the battery I do believe
Thank you for your help❤
Xq no pita la ram 2016 cuando la laqueo si pita y si funciona la alarma????
I have a 2018 ram 1500 and my media hud usb and aux dont work neither the 12v power outlet. Cant find the fuse to fix it. Do you think its somewhere near the battery?
Thanks for your help man 👍🏻
Nice find thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching
You’re are just amazing
I had the same issue, however my fuse tested good,,, I pulled it out anyway, plugged it back in and there was a big spark when I plugged it back in, and my screen/radio started working again.
I would replace the fuse. Check out my newest video with the Dodge Charger. Will explain it there
If it does it again I will!
NIce no info. Same problem on VW.
woowwwwwwww....... you're the real thing,,,,, thank you....
Thank you so much. You da man!
Thank you for watching
Thank you.
But there's no sound I did replaced radio working but no sound at all even with Bluetooth
Great job man👍👍
Hi..do you or anyone know a possible solution to fix blank display on a 2007 chrysler 300c gps radio. When it's very cold out and I start car, screen comes on for a few seconds then goes off. Radio and cd changer works fine, just no display. Is that a fuse issue somewhere.. besides the trunk, or a cold solder issue
thank you sr.
Help I tried replacing the 20amp fuse with a new one but it didn't work my radio is still not working? sometimes I noticed a little flicker of light on the screen plus in my main armrest the same flashing occurs with the USB plug. I unplugged the battery to reset but that didn't work.
Did the use have power if you test it with a test light ?
@@OzMechanics I'm getting my test light tomorrow I will be testing the fuses , I do notice on the radio screen and my USB keep flashing light ever so often
@@OzMechanics I received the test light tested the fuse I do have power. The screen is still black and ever so often it will flicker or flash a beam of light like it wants to turn on. I'm Going to take a look at the radio wire Assembly to see if there's any loose wires. Other than that I wouldn't know what else to do?
@@TonyMontana69 it’s been a few months but have you found a fix yet? My 2014 RAM has the exact same issues
@@lucasj2019 Hello Lucas I found out that my radio just went dead so I replaced it with a different one
Good find bro... Why Dodge!?!? Why
I got a 2010 same problem do you know where the fuse is located.
OZ, good video thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much!!!
thank you bro I was going crazy
No problem. Glad this video helped out
Nice video, thanks
Is it the same for a 2010 Dodge Ram 1500 ?
My 2019 3500 don't have that or am I missing it
2011 dodge ram here. Cannot locate that fuse.
Does this fuse also control the ac panel?
