I’m offended that you didn’t add garlic 😭 Edit: I don’t know what the replies have turned into, all I was saying is that I like garlic in my pickles 🤷♀️
@@addieclaie you’re the first person that I’ve ever heard that is allergic to garlic. That’s almost as sad as being allergic to chocolate which I know one person who is.
My friend's Dad has a good friend he made some pickles one yr and I swear they were the BEST pickles I had in my life!! He could literally market them to grocery stores. Ive ate every pickle brand & ones you find in old country stores and they don't compare to his. I ate all contents in the jar the garlic the carrot slices the dill the peppercorns EVERYTHING lol & happily drank the juice.
@edgarnavarrete5080 I wish I did. I don't know how long he let them sit before eating them. The brine was clear w a tiny hint of light green from the cucumber and dill sprig. I know there was fresh dill sprig, whole peices of garlic clove maybe 4 or 5, some black whole pepper corns, like 3 or 4 decent size sliced carrot & a red chili or 2. Salt & of course white vinegar & water but not sure on the ratio with those 2. Also, it could've been a specific kind of cucumber. I do know they were cut into spears, but I do know it wasn't those small white ones. If y'all make em please send me a jar or 2 lol. 😜
Canning tip: just stick the wax lid on the jar and once you see the lid has bowed in twist on the ring lid the bowed in flat lid just means it was properly sealed and no air can enter the jar
Hey love the videos your recipes looks awesome and would love to try them!!! But for your slower views 😁 could you post the recipe in the description please andthank you keep it up love the content
Very good recipe, thank you. Only note is that it was too much vinegar for me. Next time I might cut it down to 2-3 cups rather than 4 (supplementing the rest with distilled water)
Tried this recipe Saturday. I could not find it Aleppo pepper or allspice berries. I used extra black pepper and sprinkled allspice. Freaking awesome. Thanks for posting. I am curious how many people shout out “get a pan“ before making the brine now.
Thanks for the tip about the Aleppo pepper and allspice berries. I’m guessing I will have trouble finding them myself, so I’ll follow your suggestions for an alternate on them
@@TheWartHawg thanks! i’ll try it with my next batch. I ended up using another pepper alternative (ancho chili pepper (I have a feeling it’s going to be too hot but that’s what came up when I searched for alternatives) I’ll find out tonight when I taste one
These look SUPER good, all the spices are really original, but I'd say the ratio of salt, sugar, vinegar and water can be adjusted. My family has canned pickles for generations (like shelf stable, unlike what she's making which has to live in the fridge) and we do half vinegar and half water and way more salt than sugar. Then can in a boiling water bath. To each their own!
These can be water bath canned to! I just find it to be a waste of time to can them for me because they don’t last long at all! That’s the beauty of doing things your own way! Not every recipe is the same!
The only downside to this is that the cucumbers don’t like it, it’s a very jarring experience for them

Yes if you put the brine in while it's hot.
This makes me happy. My mom and I use to preserve and can together.

Try toasting the spices or throwing them in the pot with the brine. 😊
I’ve done that before and couldn’t really tell a difference so now I just throw them into the jar! 🥺
