Lol thanks for that! What happens if you don’t add the sugar, I’m prediabetic so I eliminated it in my jar. Also does large whole uncut cucumbers take longer in the fridge to ferment?
Ive been trying so hard to wrap my head around all the recipes/videos all around and this is the one that clicked. Easy, concise, clear, thorough. WELL DONE!!!!!
Just made your recipe, first time trying canning. A buddy gave me huge cucumbers from his garden, I cut out the seeds and followed your recipe. They are so good! Thank you
Great tip on the brine, didn't know till I looked it up that the pickling brine can last 6 months in the refridgerator. That just refilling that brine with replaced cucumbers. Saves on making the brine each time. Pickled cumumber last 3 weeks but the brine it self last 6 months.
Ms. Jill, Thank you for the video and tips. I just Jared 8 jars of pickles from my garden. You are Awesome!!! Now we have to wait the 48 hours before we try them out. We'll keep you updated. Thanks again.
These are the best pickles my husband and I have ever had!! Thank you for this, I had never heard of this method until I found this video. Much easier and faster than canning.
Thank you 😊 for the simple instructional video without all the fluff. Nicely presented ! It's 9/9/24, and I'm going to create using your instructions my first ever refrigerated cucumbers. God bless you and your family. ✝️🙏🙆♀️
I am back again!! I can’t believe I forgot to like or comment!!! 😂First things first.... they won’t last months!!! Since I first tried this recipe....I have to hide the jar in the fridge long enough for the cucumbers to actually get the pickle flavor!!! Living in Alaska, I love that you use dried herbs as sometimes that’s all we have!!! Thanks for sharing this recipe!!
They always say the Apple Cider Vinegar changes the flavor, I always use white vinegar, and always put my garlic on the bottom of the jar. Fresh drill is always the best.
Oh my goodness, what a super quick and simple save the vegetable recipe! I can do this! And for the lady with 20/20 vision, the fly just adds to life on the Homestead....:) thanks for sharing...
I've made these pickles several times now, they are excellent. I do use white vinegar and go a tad bit heavier with cane sugar. Very happy to have found this video.
A friend brought me a jar of sweet and sour pickles. Loved it but she won’t give me the recipe. Glad I found this one. How much sugar did you add to her recipe to make it sweeter?
OMG!!! Just made these yesterday and tried one today. WOW!!! They are delicious!!! TY so much for posting this. Never going to buy store bought pickles ever again.
I tried this recipe and loved it! I added the step of 4 hr cold water ice bath prior to and the crunch factor was really up there! Thank You for sharing this recipe. I will use it regularly and share it for sure!
Oh, this is great information! I got on the Internet and googled making refrigerator pickles with extra large cucumbers and you popped up. My husband doesn’t like the large pickling cukes and like you said it’s hard to get them while they’re the perfect size so this is great thank you so much for putting this out there
I just tried your recipe, can't wait to try them ! When I forget cucumbers and they become way too big, I pass them in my juicer with other veggies and fruit, makes delicious juice !
I tried this recipe and Oh. Em. Jee!!! They are so good! I accidentally forgot to save this so just spent 10 minutes trying to find this video again so I can make some more! 😍😍
I made this brine on a whim and it was fantastic! I can’t wait until my cucumbers come in and I can make this for real to keep in the fridge. Delicious recipe! Thanks for sharing. 💯
This is so easy to understand and make. Since my native country is East ,even I am able to understand this and will try to make it. Thanks for the lovely recipe
Thanks, Jill! I have 3 little peperoncini's I took from my garden. I think I might use this with this, and some other vegetables I got from the store. My garden is a little weepy in the Texas heat right now, by my Greek vegetables are still going. Slowly, but it's producing lol
The reason you cut the blossom end is because there is an enzyme there that will make the pickle soft (and apparently not safe to eat when pickled). Me, I have cut both ends when I pickle so that the brine has a faster rate of getting into the cucumber.
Just a quick tip: if your garlic turns blue during the picking process, it's perfectly safe and normal. It's a chemical reaction with the sulfur in the garlic and the acidity in the vinegar. If you want to avoid this, you can blanch your Gaelic beforehand. Bring a small saucepan of water to a boil, add your garlic, let boil for a minute or so, drain your garlic, and repeat 2 more times. Hope this helps! Thanks for the video by the way!
I learned from Mary at Mary's nest to put a bay leaf or two or a tea bag in with cucumbers it keeps them firm. It's worked great for fermenting them and i bet it will for these, too. Worth a try💜
I just picked up some little cucumbers from the farmers market but haven't made pickle pickles before; this video was super helpful, thanks so much for posting it.
Pickled garlic tastes so good. I had giant garlic cloves and put a few split in pieces in the jar and even though they were strong they were still delicious.
This is amazing! My granny always used to make sweet fridge pickles and I guess I just got it in my head that was the only kind you could make lol. Can’t wait to try these! Thanks!
wow super idea!!! I made it with zucchini, cucumber and also yellow beans!!! delicious and so fast, I usually canned my vegetable but I like this method for when I dont have enough veggies. thank you so much
I learned from watching a fermenting pickles video that the bay leaf has tannins just like black tea or green tea t- that helps keep the pickles crunchy
Redmond’s “real salt” is my favorite too. I know people that use that for kraut and all kinds of other things. It is mined in the US and does not contain any kind of refining and they use high-quality non-nickel or aluminum equipment to mine the whole “raw” unrefined salt. Because its mined in the USA, you know that it is going to come from a real ethical source.
@@thatsdope9571 I've did cabbage like that for years,,,,,, it works great,,, 👍 with cauliflower and carrots 🥕 you can add any vegetables you like,, but please make sure everything stays covered in the prine,,,,,, 👌

I assume you mean a 4 hour ice bath for the cucumbers before you pickle them? Do you cut them first then pickle them or ice them first then cut them?
