In my opinion, two things were great about the video #1 filming outside and #2 is that the gentleman went straight to the point with no rambling. Lastly, thank you for the nice recipe.

I'm so glad he went straight to the point. I can't stand these videos like "Hi everyone! Sooo... I'm so happy to make this video because blahblahblah and my grandma used to make these and blahblahblah and I think if you eat them with blahblahblah" (then, after 60% after all the useless chat, the tutorial starts)

This brings me so much nostalgia...when I was a kid my nonna used to dry the tomatoes in a huge metal pan on the ceiling of our garage and I never understood why until she told me it was to "better catch il sole", she dried them for no more than two or three days though, and then used garlic and oregano to prepare them too, but with "chili powder" (peperoncino macinato, since she loved spicy food) and without the bayleaf (Si! la foglia di alloro si chiama "bay leaf")
I never liked them myself, even if I love aglio...they're leathery and too strong! But she liked them so much and was really happy eating them so whenever I see them I'm reminded of her smile. I miss her so much.
    Thank you for the recipe!

I enjoy sun dried tomatoes on bread all the time (store bought). Now that I see how easy it is to make and just needs patience, to the kitchen I go.
Loved his mentioning use of other species. Garlic & rosemary or go Mexican, sun dried jalapeño and tomatoes, add garlic, cilantro, olive oil.
This could turn into some fun experimenting!

Fantastic! I make these if I can get the tomatoes. And it's even harder to get the sun! The laurels
are called bay leaves in English. The small broken bits of tomato are dropped in a bottle of olive
oil and left to marinate. Makes great tomato oil and is used for everything. Thanks so much for

LOL!;-) If we were to leave our tomatoes out in the sun here, where my sons and I live in the Mojave desert in the south tip of the state of Nevada, for 6 days, we'd end up with tomato powder! ;-)
We dry ours outside, in the shade. Small one's, like you showed in the vid cut in half, takes almost 2 full days. Any more, and they'd get crisp. ;-) we'll pack them tight in old pickle jugs, with some seasonings, and ferment them with sea salt water. It's mind blowing just how many dried tomatoes will fit in just 1, 1 gallon jug, and it makes the best tasting sauce! ;-)

Great video! I really liked your editing and the end result looked soo good! I do have a couple of questions, though. When you sundry them, do you protect them with a cloth or anything like that or are they just left alone in the sun? Do you put them inside during the night or do they stay out for as long as they need?? Thank you for this recipe!

Is there a need for sterilizing after the additional olive oil? And if it is okay to leave in kitchen counter for 3 weeks or should be in the refrigerator?
Am sorry to many questions, hoping for an answer.

cuoredicioccolato So while they are still wet (after you take them out of the pan) the solution will still be active and therefore would kill the bacterias they are getting from your hands?

No, the salt and the vinegar kill the bacteria so it will be impossible for them to multiple and become dangerous .
