All your videos are great. Broke 100 for the first time last week. Shot 97. I'm 54 with back knee and shoulder surgery and I have Parkinsons and just not very flexible. But I play 2-3 days a week. Every week.
Top tier advice MSH. I am a +2 handicap ( can't hit it straight and can't hit it straight). Guess I well keep watching MSH videos and maybe get down to a +1. "Hit'em straight "
This is a great video! I think #1 is key. No double-digit handicapper has any business playing from back tees. It applies to more than the tee box as a general rule, i.e., don't let ego dictate ANY part of your round. Not considering your typical misses and shot shape is another facet of the same problem, thinking our shots will go to plan is an ego problem, too! It certainly applies to when you hit (or don't hit) driver; I almost never hit driver, knowing that it's not a consistent club. If I can get in play with a 5W or even an iron, I know it beats OB any day.
Mistah, you have a very solid game. As a mid hc, I can relate to it. A very informative video. Look forward to your next one. Greetings from Down Under. Peter.
Another great video! I made a triple my last round all because I tried to play the hero shot instead of punching out into the fairway. Sometimes we get caught up in the moment thinking we can pull off a shot, when clearly, we should go another route.
Wise advice. I shot 39 on my first 9 yesterday. 3 things bad took place #1 thought about score . #2 on back 9 I hit two OB off tee. And 3rd on par 5 decided to use a hybrid instead of putter or wedge from 25’ off green. But tried new swing thought instead of putting style shot . Screamed 40’ past hole . Shot 53 on back 😅. Next time it’ll be what would MSH do 😊
I wish I had wisdom when I was young, It would have saved me a lot of trouble in life and golf. I'm 59 and still pretty athletic but that door of having wisdom and talent will only be open for another 15 years, 20 if I'm lucky. This video showed me your wisdom in golf. I was nodding my head saying "Yep" to everything you said. I've commented before on your videos and mentioned that I live on the Alabama Gulf Coast. If you ever decide to come this way let it be known on your videos. My friends and I would like to play a few rounds with you. You just seem like us. Laid back, but always trying to play our best. Cheers friend.
Great video again. Watched it yesterday and shot a personal best 85 this morning. 1 double. Center of the green and keeping the ball in play off of the tee are both great advice.
Played with my son a couple of weeks ago and man, did he hit some great drives. He also hooked one OB, hit a couple right into the next county and hit a couple of grass burners. The 3h is generally good, but it can do the hybrid hook sometimes. So... he's getting a Sub 70 17 degree utility iron for his birthday. Assuming he can hit it (he hits his 19.5 4 iron 200-215), the hope is that it will be a straight 230+ yard narrow tee shot weapon. Success off the deck would be gravy. (And I was pleased to get the 10% US Open sale.)
Just found your channel. This video was great. Makes lots of since. Played I. The early 90’s and stopped. Picked it back up 2 years ago. Finally shooting in high 90’s but I think I can do beater by following your advice. Will be binge watching more of your content. Thanks.
Good tip MSH! In all fairness another tip would be to get your butt off the range and go to the coarse asap. It’s such a different world to understand your distances at different lies. I did a challenging 9 hole today after almost 8 years. The nerves if being there again alone cost me 3 balls at hole 1. Eventually shot 1 birdie and 3 pars with a Handicap 32 at the last 4 holes. You’ll ease into it again and become much more relaxed after just playing and laughing it off when it goes OOB.
Another great vid MSH! I've watched many of your vids and really appreciate your advice, course management, & technique. I typically shoot in the mid-80s, and a lot of my doubles usually start from errant driver tee shots. I'm definitely learning to keep the driver in the bag on tight/dangerous holes and even playing longer par-4 like a 5. Thanks again for your efforts. You're indeed a great player, albeit not long like some of the other UA-camrs. But I think the average golfer can relate to you better (myself for sure). Thanks, Kobee
very good content. you are correct regarding driver. wild off the tee 85-87, good off the tee 77-80. if I was smart, I would spend all of my time on driver and 100 yards in.
Another excellent video, I was wondering, if in the past or in the future, you could do something on where to put the ball in your stance from driver tree your irons. Thank you very much. You have incredibly informative videos Wes.
Very good informative video…can’t wait to play smarter on my shots. Playing this weekend with some retired military buddies. Hope I can play well thanks to you‼️
Great video and I wish I had your thought processes. I’m 77 and I regularly break 90, breaking 80 from 6500 or 6300 about once a year so that 79 only comes once out of 150 rounds. Why? Simply because I always play to break 80……Dr. Bad Brain here 😂
@@mistahshorthitter I was thinking about if you could do a video/ help us on some tips for beginners and high handicappers like myself about handling the pressure on the course and actually executing the stuff that we’ve practiced on the range vs messing it up due to getting too much in my head at the tee box and subsequent shots after that.
