I tried the third drill on the driving range today, and then right afterward on the course. I’ve been hitting the ball pretty well this past year, straight but with a tendency of opening the face and coming over the top mixed in from time to time. My normal driving distance these past three years has been 215-225 and I had resolved myself to that being normal for someone who’s 66 years old. Well, on the driving range I hit a few of the first drives off line, but there was a more solid feel, I was compressing the ball better. Last two practice drives were impressively long. I took it out to the course during a best ball tournament and was consistently hitting a nice draw (which never happens) and distance (no BS) was between 270-285 yards. I haven’t hit that far since my mid-late 30’s. So, my goal now is to taper this back to a normal stance and continue the in to outside club head path. Kudos to you and Dave for providing this drill.
Agreed he always has some good drills and like the pro I go to will say forget the shot result on the bad ones esp when trying to change swing shape. He looks and focuses on if the change is happening
I know you like getting lessons from lots of 'flashier' pros, but without doubt, Dave is the best. Stop listening to the others, just go back to Dave. You should have him on once a month, he is excellent
I agree he’s quiet he teaches without thatTiresome over enthusiastic trait that most UA-cam professionals have. They only thing is it is disrespectful to wear shorts when teaching.
Phenomenal drills. I tried the drill that you stand further away and back from the ball. I couldnt help but draw the driver ( I had been a slicer)..I gained at least 40 yards with a beautiful ball flight. Thank you for one of the best golf videos I have seen !!
First 3 shots, look at the position of the front foot from the rear, it creeps forward. 3rd is half a length forward, which changes the alignment & your swing.
Liam, stand a little closer to the ball so your hands are closer to your body and your arms not so extended. Love the tips, gonna try them on the range tomorrow. Thanks.
Drill 3 is hands down the best thing I have ever come across. It has taken over-the-top away. I know set up ALL shots inside the ball to varying degrees. Can't thank you enough for this.
Good teaching by Dave, good listening and putting into practise by you Liam. The two curses when it clicked with you...thats the real Liam! So good to see that and the genuine delight when you hit them 👏👏👏
@@GolfMates LMAO well done Liam 🤣 For sure, those last two were great contacts! I think I'd be terrified of missing the ball altogether with how far forward Dave positioned it 😳 Not a bit of it though, you smashed them both. I'll give it a go because I had a dose of the quackers today 🤣🤣🤣
Wow! Excellent video. I like the basket drill, thanks for going through the measurements, but the last drill you can actually take to the course. Great to see a Dave back on the channel.
That’s f@ing mega 😂 good lad Liam! Great to see Dave back giving lessons. His kind & calm personality is so natural and others would do well to learn from that!
Between Dave and Simon golf tips and teaching and me also having the light bulb moments after me playing for 25 yrs yesterday i had my best ever round @ bury golf club in a team event, big THANK YOU and keep the videos coming i shot around of 12 over from a handicap of 26,9 ;) ouch
I actually can't wait to try that last drill on the range. I've changed and tweaked so many things to try and get something out of Driver as can only hit 230-243 (not consistently) now I have drills I can actually try and that made total sense. Great video. 😎👍 (Saved to favourites)
Aye big Dave to the rescue again. Simple yet pure genius, absolutely loved it. Can we please have more of big Dave and his tips. Yes Liam that was Fking brilliant, so stick with it mate. Can't wait to try it myself 😀😜
Went to the range Friday to try the last drill. Used a 7 iron. Set up 4” behind the ball and 4” from the target line. Consistently hit straight, powerful rising shots resulting in increased distance. I will be sticking with this drill. Thanks for this and all of your content Liam. And a big thanks to Dave the Pro for the knowledge. I could benefit from some weekly flexibility routines thru the winter months if you and Dave are up to it.
It’s all about MOI. The club has a MOI and your swing has an MOI. The MOI pulls away from your spine. Most golfers 🏌️ fight this MOI subconsciously. Great video… interesting illustration of the problem we all deal with differently.
I have been using the third drill for the last two weeks with amazing results. I can now drive over a creek that is 215 yards from the tee box. Great stuff and thanks Dave!
Morning guys, i've been having problems getting the ball off the tee recently and with it a dip in confidence. This has been absolutely priceless. Cheers guys,, quality. Also, love the proper northern dialect.
Great work Liam,. and amazing last shot. I'm working on driver drills myself at the moment, and I have an out-to-in path and my coach has me using drill no1 with the gate. I'll be trying the last one next time at the range and will try to dig out some pipe lagging or a pool noodle if I can for the second one.
Loved those drills , and great to see dave back again..... just a thought though, nothing to do with the drills... I noticed that your hands on all of those shots was right at the end of the grip. Curious to know how you maintain grip pressure with your hands so high. Seems to work for you,but dont think I could manage it..... I have to have my hands further down the grip to feel some control.
That last drill is how I ALWAYS hit my driver. Listening to more and more to lessons.... I now realize why that seems to work for me. 1) I line the driver 6 inch behind the ball and just the tip of the club where the ball is. That should allow me to easily pass the basket test. 2) it makes me stretch to hit the ball coming around in the arch or angle they all recommend rather than sort of hacking down at it. I am curious to see how the 1st drill would work with that stance.
Liam your first 3 drives are exactly what I do on my first 3 drives on course. I tried the basket drill when you last put it out and it was good until I thought I had it sussed, then slipped back into my old ways. Like the last drill you did so off to range tomorrow night and try it out. Love these videos 👏
Every time we see "Dave's" lesson of the day. It always increases the knowledge of the technicallities of the swing. Now, where can I find a basket and pipe insulation? I'll probably hit the basket the way my driver goes in my old age.
Dave the Rave's videos are always simple to do benefitted from his chipping vid years ago about ball in stance and never looked back at chipping again. Need to see you do it in a match vs Mr Barlow will there be an uber ride between your drives🤣🤣
Good solid fundamentals well explained .....liam could do with the leadbetter parallel train track drill ....hands in club head out i always go back to it when my driving goes off works for me
Some very good simple drills to overcome a specific action brought about from fatigue, tiredness or over familiarity. On the course to bri g be k the confidence required to but consistent tee shots, great drills.
Great lesson Dave, Could really do with these lessons for my golf. I have stopped using my driver as I have no confidence what so ever with it. I am Barely using my three wood as I am starting to slice it more now. I have been going round using my irons and have hit my three iron 235 yards wind behind but would really love to get the big boy out and start gaining confidence with it. I am ex-services and have a few injuries that seem to plague my mind thus stopping me from having a more relaxed swing. Absolutely love the game and would love to show my mates I play with that I can hit a driver. Any help would be greatly appreciated golf mates. Keep up the great series Liam and Dave, Send my best regards to the rest of the team. They all do a fantastic job of entertaining the masses! 💖🤛🤛

He may be excellent, but SHORTS for a Pro... NO
@epice10 bullocks mate. Let's all go back to playing in tweed jackets, featheries and hickory shafts

Yes - big Dave is back 👏🏼 match play - you and Dave vs big dog and Simon - bring it on #youtubegold
I think Dave is the channels best coach, he is so matter of fact and doesn’t make it about himself that is an excellent tip.
