Thanks for doing these videos. It’s really refreshing to see a good golfer who doesn’t have a 110mph swing speed. I am a slower and smoother swinger and there are very few guys on UA-cam like that. Thank you!
Thank you John!
I love your videos first of all!! And you’re extremely consistent.. I hope one day to post a round with you!! I personally don’t think you need all that swing training to gain a few more yards!! You have an incredible tempo and your balance is superb!! You ever thought about holding your lag a little longer and just whipping your hands thru? I think that’ll put you back at 95 easy if not more!!
I'm not a believer in trying to intentionally hold lag but whatever works for the individual. Thank you so much for the support!
Again thanks for the content MSH!
Goodluck with the speed training! You’re definitely pushing me to get better and better myself, whether you are aware of that or not. Thanks for that!
That's what I hope for! Thank you!
Re Shafted all my clubs with a senior flex and very light Winn Grips. Gotta do what you gotta do.
Agreed!
I've done some driver testing of my own and yep some days I swing faster than others. My window is about 5mph (89-94). For the last 2 years every practice session with driver, I spray the club face with foot powder spray to track where I'm striking the ball. Now when I'm on the course playing I can tell right away if a drive is toward the toe, heel or high/low on the club face. All the visual data has helped me develop a feel for it, and helped me hit center club face more consistently. Great video, best of luck with your strength & speed training!!
I was going to do a video talking about using the foot powder spray. Thank you for watching!
I just went to a low spin driver (radspeed) from a callaway XR16 and found gains, my drives our out distancing guys 10 years younger. It all goes back to what works best for an individual. I love the Srixon drivers you picked up.
Thank you Tim!
Nice swing!
Thank you!
Good choice! Looks great.
Thank you Les!
Spin helps keep the ball in the air which should mean more carry. For those of us with slower swing speeds, more carry = more distance.
Thank you for watching!
I hate lifting weights. I just jog, and it helps with cardio. I just recently completely changed my swing. Basically copied Collin Morikawa's swing except the wrist bow. And the results are mindblowing. Huge improvements in ball flight and yardages. But yes, being stronger and faster helps BIG TIME in any sport. Oh and, we're the same age. I'll be the big 5-0 in September.
Thank you for watching!
Huge improvement! Wait til you play a bunch of rounds and get really comfortable with it. 👍
Thank you!
Keep training. One maybe two times a week, swing flat out with driver and don't worry where it goes. So game day swing will be a bit faster yet under control. So how many drivers do you have in basement.
Thank you. I think I have 4 that I have played. I have others that I picked up from Thrift stores for testing, etc.
Great content ❤
Thanks
I have been waiting for the replacement for the low spin head. Not tried the helium shaft tbh as i have found a shaft that is 100% suited to my needs and wants. Cheap shaft too, SK Fiber 60° counter balanced, with ideal torque. As you get more used to your new driver set up i expect more distance will be found. Great vlog
Thank you Robert! Low spin was definitely a no go.
@@mistahshorthitter just a thought, as your swing speed gets faster with the weight work you are planning you might need a lower torque shaft as anything higher than 3.0 will probably see the shaft tip closing at impact and the dreaded hook coming into play. Probably a while to go but worth thinking about in the future.
Lets hope
Conditioning the body for golf is huge at our age (50) At least in my golf club it is because I play from the same tees as the younger guys. Keep up the good work 🤜🏻
Thank you!
You are infinitely better than i will ever be. That said, i watch a lot of swings and notice something in yours. To me it looks like you reach the ball and then coast. Fast swingers look like they really accelerate and punch through the ball. I would be curious to see if your speed increases if you just mentally try to have as much, or more speed two feet after the ball as at the ball. I'm glad i found your channel. Keep up the good work.
What you are describing is pretty much impossible for me to do lol. Fast swingers really swing faster at all stages of the downswing. You can only swing as fast as your body has the ability to break on your through swing. If you don't have that power you would swing an inevitably injure yourself. Think of it this way. If you gave me Bryson's swing speed without his upper body and core strength I would swing faster than my body could take and I would immediately injure myself. In fact, I would probably fall down on the through swing. Thank you for watching!
Love your videos, just bought Cleveland launcher xl hit it 10 yards further than my Ping g410 plus .Cleveland launches higher..80 percent driver swing speed 90 mph.Surprised at results,i guess low ball spin not that important for slower clubhead speed.
That's great! Thank you Mark!
I went with the low spin PROJECT X HZRDUS Smoke iM10 60 shaft with the regular Cobra Aerojet head. Perfect combination for me.
Very nice!
It is so funny .. everyone is so different. I have always played low spin drivers at 10.5 degrees . I got fitted recently and he put me in a 12 degree Paradym ... with a Drago Shaft... and I picked up 12 yards
I don't know what it is but I could not get anything out of the Paradym. Probably, just was not swinging well that day. Thank you for watching!
Shaft makes the biggest distance. Swapping is easy enough with adjustable heads so no need to trade out my three year old Sim. I experimented with weight, spin rate, and length before discovering a shaft that suits me best.
Thank you for watching!
Your driver numbers are surprisingly similar to mine. Do yourself a favor and test a Ventus VeloCore shaft in your driver. I went from the Helium to the VeloCore and the dispersion difference is extreme.
Thank you!
got me a Hy-wood partly because of you made a video about it! thanks man!
I appreciate it!

Might have not been swinging as "freely" with the old/new driver trying to guide and get the numbers up. Looking forward to the new/new driver #s when ya refresh the speed training. Helium shaft? Thought your voice sounded funny 😅. Have a good Sunday . Should get together with a sponsor for Father's day gift suggestions
I do like the Helium shaft. I like the way you think with the Father's day gifts!
@@mistahshorthitter stole the idea from another
Great video..thanks, I am in the middle of changing my driver (9.5 degree NVS 65 stiff shaft) I’ve had for ten years to a lighter more lofted flexible driver. I’m 66 years old so my Driver feels like a 2 X 4
Just curious about your shaft. What is the weight and flex? I’m considering a 40 gram shaft with a light (senior) flex. Also what loft did you have on the new driver? I noticed you had a much higher launch angle with it.
Thanks again
The Helium shaft flies a little higher. It's 52 grams and regular flex. I had them both set at 10.5. Thank you for watching!
@@mistahshorthitter thanks so much. I am looking at a 10.5 loft driver with a 40 gram
Where did you get the Helium shaft, what length and weight? Keep it up, I would think stick with the new Driver with Helium shaft and focus on weight & speed training from there.
44.5" 52 Grams. Thank you so much!
Thanks for the video. What brand is your new driver? Can you please comment on whether 10.5 or 12 degrees is better for a slower swing?
Srixon ZX5. It's hard to say what's best for you. Generally, if you drive it less than 210 total 12 would be better. Thank you for watching!
Surprised you lost it all from your workouts and Superspeed. I thought I read in Superspeed you could maintain with one session per week. Love your equipment reviews
That maybe true but I stopped doing it entirely. It shouldn't take as long to build it back up and then maintain with once per week.
Interesting Vid has i guy in my mid 60s your swing looks more athletic than mine my trail leg some times drags along the floor but i get roughly the same distance TM mini driver resolved some issues and switching shafts helped, I use a reg light wieght speeder 45 gram. nice vid
Thank you so much. My swing looks better than it actually is. I do maintain balance and have pretty good tempo. I'm probably not going to improve it by much so I do the best with what I have.
Paul Wilson just recommended the SpeedCore belt training aid on his recent video.
Thank you!
You want to pick up 30-35 more yards? Tilt your spine to your right toward your back foot. Take you left eye and focus it on the back of the ball. Hit up on the ball and it will increase your trajectory which will translate to longer carry. Post 20 and sent me a thank you. BTW- you need better contact. The weights will help but your fix is a simple one. Cheers
Thank you for watching.
Shaft change can make a world of difference. I believe I need a different shaft on my current driver (Mavrik). In video, the kick point seems to be way to early on my downswing which I'm sure isn't helping my drives. Sadly, shafts are not always cheap and a new one can clean a wallet out fast lol
So true. Thank you so much!
Low kick shaft and weight training keeps my driving distance competitive with my younger playing partners.
Thank you Steve!
Great video ❤
Thank you
Nice! What Helium shaft is this? the Nanocore F3? Thanks.
UST Helium Nanocore Blk 5, thank you for watching!
I am curious to see how it would affect your swing speed if did mallet and tire training. I feel like the only reason my swing speed is higher than average(117-125 depending on the day) is because of growing up swinging an axe chopping wood. I didn't do much with golf other than going to a driving range a couple times during the summer my whole life until a couple years ago. I feel like my lower body activates much better than most of my friends(most of whom were good baseball players growing up) simply because i was swinging something much heavier than they were and had to use my lower body to get power into the swing. I think its the same premise as speed sticks, just much heavier weight at the end.
Sounds like you are very strong to me. That could have something to do with it. Thank you for watching!
Which Helium shaft did you get? I have the regular flex in a Cobra head and I hit it pretty well.
UST Helium Nanocore Blk 5
Regular Flex
Thank you for watching!
Hello, is that helium shaft in your driver the ust helium nanocore that sells for 260-280 $ ?
Yes, it is. Thank you!
Man you play great
I’ve been watching you for a while and your lag putting is hurting you
It looks like you take it back ok but your hitting with your hands
like you’re flipping to get it to the hole
Have you ever tried putting with your shoulders leaving your hands out of it You have great tempo so it should be easy for you
I’m not a short hitter but I picked up a couple of things from watching you your swing is very consistent with great tempo
Work on your lag putting I’m not telling you anything you don’t know and look at your data set your goal 2 putts and out You’ve already got the game you just need to tweak that part of it up
Keep up the good work
@juliuscotton5881 As long as you're entertained, that's all that matters to me.
Just curious did you try the helium shaft in the LS Driver?
No, I didn't. I was trying to get far away from the LS head fast! lol
Hello, just wondering what is the shaft weight of each club.
Old shaft -60 grams
New shaft-52 grams
Thank you for watching!

You will love that shaft and they are not cheap!! I couldn't tell what driver you got!

Srixon ZX5. Thank you!
im looking at new driver shafts. i have a wilson staff d300. it has a custom shaft, stiff flex but short only 43.5 inch. i dont feel like i get the best out of it. my ss is very similar to yours high 80's to mid 90's. i was just going to reshaft as the head is unreal tbh, i can almost miss the ball and it still carries about the same length. what shaft did you have best results?
It's the Helium shaft. I also have it in my 3 wood. Thank you!
@@mistahshorthitter just went for the Acer Velocity Red Graphite Woods-Stiff. cheapest one pretty much that i could find to suit my swing tempo and speed. comes as a 46inch uncut. so need add a grip and tip tip to. with delivery its cost close to £70
That's a good price.
it's always the shaft today's heads are all the same
Thank you for watching!
What shaft are you using?
Helium Nanocore
2100 not enough spin at your swing speed. I would think 2500-2700 spin would be much better for you. If you can get back to your top speed and then just bring back the training to maintain your swing speed could be the way to go in the future
Spin is why I switched clubs.
