After watching this video, my biggest takeaway is that I'm trying to swing way too hard, especially for my age and physical limitations. Thanks for helping my game and back.
I think you could go with “Mr. Straight Hitter” as well. That takes a lot of pressure of the game for us club golfers. Great advice with this one, thank you.
Man, this is the first time I've seen one of your videos, or even had it suggested. You're a good golfer, consistent and explain everything better than I've probably seen so far. As you play commentary is great, nice work man, keep grinding. You're making the climb👊
it can never harm, espescially as you hit it more the distance of your average golfer. Shotscope has the average drive for a 15 hcap at about 230. (omitting outliers)
Love it, the typical golf youtuber doesn't talk about these sorts of things. You and Golf Sidekick have become my favorites. talking about simple tips and tricks to benefit the beginner (to low handicappers) game!
Listening to you is like hearing myself talk to my higher handicap friends. So much basic wisdom here. Great video! I'm a former pga class a and I can't tell you how many times I've said everything you're saying here. I break 80 regularly and occasionally break 72. I'd love to play with you. Your swing looks really consistent. I can tell you've played some. Your trigger gives you away. 😂😂 First non professional yt channel I've subscribed to. Subbed!
This guy is a helluva golfer. Great swing, plays within himself, knows his yardages with his clubs and is straight as an arrow. The only things he needs to address is he jerks his puts and they go right. Love the video. Thanks for reinforcing ; play within yourself. We aren't 25 years old and can't knock the snot out of the ball any more, keep the ball in play and golf is a lot more enjoyable. Thanks for the reminders.
I wish that were true. Unfortunately, I miss putts right one day and left the next. Putting videos on the way. Also, unfortunately when I was 25 I couldn't hit the snot out of the ball. Actually, I have never been long off the tee. Thank you!
Maybe a Samm Puttlab and Quintech putter fitting to see related tendencies and having a digital tool for improvement could be in order. I did the above approach and it severally helped my short game. It does help you don't seem to miss the middle of the face often. :) I have watched a few videos of yours now and man, you never miss my much. That's another key to breaking 80 right there. Another one is playing a course and tee box makers that suit your game. I am the first to admit I am shocking at playing links style courses but do very well on parkland and what I call American style courses. They suit my eye, my playing style so I tend to play better. And I know I'm short hitter 260 yards with a bit of run and 7-iron carry about 160 yards, so I don't play tee boxes that stretch the par 3's to over 200 yards, par 4's over 440 yards and total length over about 6,900 yards. With that mind, I can play well and score around par.
That's a nice swing! I played in a tournament years ago and got paired up with an older retired USCG captain who said something that has always stuck with me, he said there's more 300 yard drives lost in those bushes than ever made it to the fairway. Now I have more appreciation for all my straight drives than I do for the long ones.

My best drives carry 240 and I play my 7 to 140. I can’t reach 500 yards in two anymore and my eyes betray me on greens but I still get around in the 70’s on good days. A 7 handicapper averages 82 and usually shoots +/- 6 of his hc and it’s been years since I’ve gone under par but advice like yours will surely help folks in the 7 to 15 bracket. Great video for those of us who can’t hit 190 yard 7 irons and 300 yard carry drives. Fairways and greens! PenguinGolf
Short game is very important. However, I believe the first thing is to get the ball in play off the tee. You have no chance of breaking 80 if you are hitting it out of bounds and in water hazards. Thank you for watching!
MSH your an excellent teacher !! ... really enjoyed your thoughts on how to work the course management. I feel for my game that if I'm driving the ball in the fairway my day is so much more relaxed. I also work most of my range time on the 110 yrds and in shots and little chips around the green.
I have watched thousands of hours of golf videos.I can say with no exaggeration: 1. Im astonished I haven't come accross this channel already 2. I have never felt a channel represents my game until this very moment. Not only did I relate to this. It is 100% my game. Like every sentence was so spot on. Ive never tried to reach a content creator. Is there a way to message or get in contact? Id be glad to pay for the time to ask a few questions.
Good swing there MSH, good commentary and realistic expectations with average yardages. Difficult to watch the videos with guys driving 280+ yards, that’s not the average golfer’s game, definitely checkout your other videos.
Finally, someone who hits similar distances to me and doesn't claim to hit their 7-iron 230 yards. I'm definitely gonna subscribe :)

Thank you so much David! Much more to come!
Love this. Looking forward to checking out the rest of your content
Thank you Jim!
Such great information-you are the best!!!!
@davidmalone4017 Thank you, David!
Great Key pt: got to get it in the fairway off the Tee. Dial it back for accuracy.
Thank you for watching!
I'm a 10, I found your video quite helpful. Your full swing is pleasant to watch especially the finish, same place every time!

If I hit the ball like you do I know I could break into the 80's consistently. Your tempo and contact is money. New subscriber here.

2. I have never felt a channel represents my game until this very moment.
Not only did I relate to this. It is 100% my game. Like every sentence was so spot on. Ive never tried to reach a content creator. Is there a way to message or get in contact? Id be glad to pay for the time to ask a few questions.
Jonathan, shoot me an email at mistahshorthitter@gmail.com. Thank you for watching!
Enjoyed the tips today. I am guilty of swinging harder on long holes. So I will remember to swing normally, good tip. Thanks!
Excellent!

Great video. Probably speaking for almost every handicap club golfer on the planet.

Good swing there MSH, good commentary and realistic expectations with average yardages. Difficult to watch the videos with guys driving 280+ yards, that’s not the average golfer’s game, definitely checkout your other videos.
