  • Can you do Carnivore on an extremely low budget? Today we will find out! I have to feed 1 person at least 1500 calories and 100g of protein per day, its a 30 day month, and they will eat two meals a day. And we have to do all of that with a budget of $100! Can it be done?
I also include some of my best practices for finding deals on meat and some sample meals you can make with our $100 cart.

Yes but the food quality is definitely questionable. Most of the big names touching for it will insist you need to eat high quality meat, like grass fed beef and pasture raised chicken eggs. Stuff gets crazy expensive. Hopefully food quality won't negate the benefits of a carnivore diet

    • @JennyMitich
      @JennyMitich  4 місяці тому +8

@@phoenix7289 oh, for sure! Here’s the thing. Of course, if you have the money, spring for the highest quality that you can afford. But I don’t want people that are surviving on very low food budgets to think they can’t do carnivore just because they can’t get grass fed everything. You can get most of the benefits of carnivore eating grain fed meat👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

We were spending as a couple 600 a month for groceries. We are spending about the same but are eating steak 3 to 4 times a week. We also enjoy shrimp 2 times a week. This is the conversation to be having. People always complain that eating healthy is for rich people when it’s not! I used to work in a grocery store and would watch fit older couples spend less than $200 on groceries, usually only being stuff from the meat dairy and produce aisles. Meanwhile I’d see other couples a bit younger than them, very obese, spending upwards of $400 and their cart is mostly full of the snack foods and various boxes. Honestly if we cut out majority of the junk the middle aisles have to offer, we can cut our grocery bills by at least a third

Here's low cost thing I do. The meat market sells chicken leg quarters seventy nine cent to eighty nine cent per lb. In effect this is cheaper that regular grocery stores because they sell them in bulk and the packaged ones at the grocery stores have a lot of fluid added to raise the price, the ones I but are relatively dry. With a small sharp knife I bone out the entire quarter and have a boneless . piece of chicken to cook in the air fryer or smoker.
The bones go into the Instant pot to make bone broth, I cut the long bones in two to get to the marrow. My favorite way to use the bone broth is to make egg drop soup. I mix up four eggs into a cup and heat the broth, when it is steaming I drizzle the eggs into the broth while stirring constantly. The eggs will cook into threads and it is delicious.

A chuck roll is about $4.20 to $5 per pound. Lots of good options for the carnivore diet! There's also options like Good Chop where you can build your own box for a little over $200. I'm definitely looking into that myself.

Fantastic ideas. Been Carnivore going on 6 years now. I am always scouting out deals in my area. RN ground beef 5lbs roll is $9.85 ($1.97/lb). Local Mexican market has Chicken Breasts for $1.79/lbs. I brine the chicken breasts with liquid Smoke and then air fry to make lunch meat for my family.

This was an AWESOME video! Exactly what I, and many others, have been needing to see. I *know* carnivore can be done affordably, but I was still struggling to make the budget work. So seeing this laid out put my mind at ease and encouraged me. Sometimes seeing actually IS believing! Haha! I have a family of six with some preteens in there to budget for; we're a mix of Keto & carnivore. It's taking a lot of work to wean the kids over to kid friendly keto & carnivore snacks. They're so sick of cheese sticks and hard boiled eggs....But I will find more stuff to make, no worries! Thanks again for a great video, I'm going to go find that next one you mentioned and hit the subscribe button now!

We are in our 70's. Before we went carnivore we spent on average $250 to $300 a week for groceries. We now spend half of that and we are eating much better. Eggs, bacon, beef, butter, hamburger, smoked salmon, salt, pork, and cream - no cheese. We usually go shopping twice a week. The only spurge item is bacon because my wife likes to cook extra for snacks. Three strips of bacon will almost always satiates hunger between meals for us.

THANK YOU SO MUCH! This is exactly what I needed, because my budget is actually exactly limited to 100€/month/person at the moment. This was extremely helpful! One thing I wanted to point out is that it was very difficult for me personally to watch the video with the quick edits and all those stylistic elements popping up and disappearing. It was hard to process what you were saying, while the images just flashed from one thing to the next. This might just be me and maybe because I'm not a native speaker, so I can't process stuff so easily, but just wanted to point out my experience in case it helps you :) Still, the information you gave was invaluable!

My husband and I have been carnivore over five months. It's definitely cheaper than stupid diets I've been on in the past. Even just eating omnivore is more expensive.
The only thing about your grocery list is I'm not fond of chicken anymore and the only part of the pig I like is bacon. We eat mostly ribeye and hamburger and of course eggs. But our grocery bill is still easy to handle. I appreciate you listing this out for families and newbie carnivore showing how easy it can be done

Wow, you are lucky to find someone to tell you when their sell by dates are. At Winco in Idaho, they said they don't have a particular day for their sales and I needed to just check every single day. I don't think they want people to know when the sales are because then the rest of the week will be lean on customers. I check twice a week and sometimes I'll find one and sometimes not.

Winn Dixie put out a weekend special a few weeks ago for ribeyes $4.99/lb I bought 25 or 30 lbs. It can be done cheaper than any other "diet" if you look for the sales and be a little creative. I always try to set some money aside in case I run across a deal to stock the freezer.

Check your local smaller meat market. Here, SE Mi, there is one that carries irregularly cut bacon, nineteen ninety five for ten lbs. I grind it half and half with whatever pork is cheap for a very good breakfast sausage. For deli and other types of preserved meat, find a salvage type grocery store. There is a small local chain that often has these types of meat for five for five or two for three.

I'm going back to the diet. I shop at BJs and found an online deal of 1.99 a pound on boneless/skinless chicken breasts. (I supplement with butter or some other fats for the skin.) Now they aren't as good on eggs and some other things as Walmart is, but I get them there and save on fuel.
Thanks for showing this and explaining how to do it. I'll be doing more shopping as you suggest now. Take Care and Stay Safe.

Damn, this is so much cheaper than high protein omnivore diet. Veggie prices here in Europe this year are absolutely ridiculous. I think I've paid like 1.5 euro for a single big Raspberry tomato last week. Maybe I should in fact switch to carnivore ;) while I love fatty fishes and the fattiest cheeses I absolutely despise fatty meats. There's something about those white stripes of fat on uncooked, meat that makes me sick. Same with skin on meats. I can eat ground meat though, the cheapest ground meat is a big no no.
I'm not really clean eating obsessed but the lowest quality ground meat, sausages, hot dogs etc is I belive what led to the popular opinion that high meat consumption increases the risk of cancer. Its not the meat itself, its all the garbage that is grinded along with it. So the premium ground beef I buy would be around 2.2 dollar per.... 150g. Yeah, so almost 6 dollars per pound. Salmon is about 20 dollars per kilogram.
I would have to eat 3200kcal of that ground beef, salmon, maybe some veal hot dogs, cheddar, Gruyere, eggs... yeah that would still be expensive ;)

Always cleck your shredded cheese for added ingredients. Most have an anti-clumping agent. If you're able, it's much better to shred your own cheese from the block.
