  • It takes an awful lot to get a professional Fabricator to switch from one brand to another. In fact, it takes a whole lot. As soon as the Rogue Fab Model 600 hit the doorstep of the shop, it was very clear why this bender would now be the go-to.
    In this episode, Justin "the Fabricator" goes over the complete setup of the M600 and shows a couple of really fantastic features that his other bender simply doesn't have.

    Great video! I've had their complete builder kit with all the dies for several years. Built a rock crawler cage as my first ever bending project with it. Love it for all the reasons you mentioned and more. For some reason a lot of Fabricators don't give it the respect it deserves.

    That bender is sweet, I'll be adding it to my garage shortly, mainly because of this video and Justin's attitude about it. You seem to change my mind about a lot of stuff, bender, TIG machine, not drooling over a Dynasty anymore. Yeah you know what I want now!!! Thanks

    This video just earned Rogue Fab some more cash. I'm sold on it. Putting it back in and giving it more of a bend sold me. People don't understand how hard that is to do with the other style benders. Thanks Justin.

    Been a while, so may already have mentioned it, but rather than fiddle with the spacer washers, either weld them together to a 6" length of 1"x 1/8" strap or make up a one piece spacer with an extension.
    The reason to to do this is it is MUCH easier to hold the extension while guiding the spacers into place - if you regularly change the dies, you will definitely appreciate the ease.

    Justin, Another Great vid! Do you know of any companies that sell similar build it yourself thin wall tubing benders for exhaust tubing? I wasn't sure if the Thin Wall Attachment for the MD600 was for that particular purpose when looking at the Rogue Fab site.

    • @TheFabricatorSeries
      @TheFabricatorSeries  7 років тому +1

      The only thing that bends exhaust tubing is an exhaust tubing bender (aka "compression bender") or a mandrel bender. I've seen some of what the thin wall attachment from Rogue will do, but of course you're limited on OD size.

    • @TheFabricatorSeries

      The M3 only does so much. When I outgrew it I had to learn a new machine and pay for it (which is time consuming and annoying). With the Rogue I simply buy an attachment or tool to make it solve a problem. Same machine - new function.

    Hey have you ever had any experience with jd2's model 54 bender with the rotary indexer? I've been wanting to pull the trigger on a bender but haven't been swayed enough to buy one. I've always liked the 54 but this m600 looks like a great option also. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

    • @TheFabricatorSeries
      @TheFabricatorSeries  7 років тому +1

      I have never used the JD2 M54. I did check some features and capabilities of the M54 as well as watch the demo vid. I took into consideration the capabilities and price of the base model M54 vs the M600 and I would suggest that the M600 would be better in the end. You can completely tool up the M600 to run electric/hydraulic for less than the base price of the M54 and it will deliver the same (possibly more) capability in less work space. The footprint of a machine is very important to me since I like having a lot of space. The M600 can roll away into a small corner or space when not in use. it also requires less area to operate.
      That's the best unbiased opinion I can give. I hope it helps.

    That's a nice bender. I used the same cylinder to adapt my own jd2 style manual bender. I use my in the vertical axis takes up about a square foot of floor space. I didn't put return springs on it. I will have to do this I like that. Reading the manual on that cylinder it specifies using it up right. I wonder how long it would last using it in the horizontal axis. Just a thought. At $650 to start its a bit pricey. With my cylinder and all parts with a 1.25" jd2 die Im in at $400 maybe

    • @TheFabricatorSeries
      @TheFabricatorSeries  7 років тому +2

      It will last just as long since all it needs is the oil to pick up. Being crafty is a great money saver, but do also consider the price of the additional materials you had to buy along with the bender and everything else. I won't challenge your claimed investment of "$400 maybe" but I really don't see how that is possible unless you bought used parts or found the biggest sale ever.
      A new bender is $300 + $215 for the 90 degree die + $80 for the cylinder + shipping and additional materials for the stand you made to mount it (could be scrap or whatever). However you managed to stay around $400 is something I'd like to know. I'm sure my viewers do as well.

    • @industrialpalletworx3548
      @industrialpalletworx3548 7 років тому

      I made the frame of the bender from scrap modeled after the JD2 model 3. I bought the 1.25" 90 degree die 4.5" clr. I bought the cylinder. I bought a 36" piece of 2x3 .120 wall tubing. That I am using as the main frame. I bolted the frame of the bender to it at the top. I welded scrap 1.25" square tubing at the bottom for feet and mounted the cylinder on the bottom just above the feet. I bought various size hitch pins. Add it all up Im in for about $400. I can email pics of it if you like.
      I had tried testing my cylinder in the horizontal position and it didn't really want to drive it. So I designed it to be up right.

      The Fabrication Series why is blowing it off a bad idea?

      Yes'm compressed air will get them clean and quick. I wear ear plugs and safety glasses. I wouldn't have an issue doing it without gloves.

    because of your first season video on tube bending I went with the jd2 just as you had to do some roll bar and strut brace fabricating. ive had it bolted to my shop floor for almost 1.5yr and it hasn't seen a single piece of tube. hopefully my other fabricating and financial commitments will end soon but until then she sits and waits. thanks for the great videos. if you have any dies for the jd2 you are trying to sell I would be interested.

      James Todd Stop watching UA-cams and grab some RealTubes! haha. Hope you get to use your bender soon. It will eventually pay for itself.

    So which bender is your favourite?

      I really like the Rogue. The JD is a great machine, but the extra features and functions of the Rogue makes it much more enjoyable.

    Copy all the parts and have them cut, you can have benders for cheep. I did it basically got mine for free, just buy dies from them.

      No dies will release past 180 degrees.

    looks like a decent bender but for a couple hundred more you can get a jd2 model 4 hydraulic unit and not listen to a damn compressor all day lol

    • @TheFabricatorSeries
      @TheFabricatorSeries  7 років тому +6

      The Model 4 does not include the pump. The price is only for the bender and the cylinder. Pump options are either air over hydraulic ( like the Rogue) or electric. If you chose the electric pump, the price of the machine jumps to $2,040 plus shipping, plus the die(s), plus the stand. You'd be about $2,600 into a model 4 before you can even bend a one size of one tube. That's roughly 3 times the price of a Rogue M600. Just food for thought... I ran all the numbers before I got the Rogue.
