Slim, I love your creativity in your videos. I find myself getting tired of watching other UA-cam RV channels, but not yours. You keep things interesting both visually and verbally....plus you are not always trying to sell something. It is refreshing and relaxing. Thanks for what you do. It is great for those of us stuck in the house during these times.....
Yes, I follow some RV channels too, and they all have their adorable things, and are good channels. But ... Slim Potatohead is unique, in exactly the ways you describe.
We have been watching you for almost a year. You bring abundant joy to our home. Your videos are in a class called “EXCELLENT”! Thank you for all of you teach and share. We love love you Slim❤️❤️❤️❤️
Mr. Potatohead the fuel pump is in the gas tank and it depends on fuel in the tank to keep it cool don't drive with low fuel often or you will pay big when fuel pump craps out. It happened to me years ago no more running with low fuel for me.✌👍
Slim, I love your voice so much that I let you put me to sleep at night. Not saying that you're boring. I'm saying it's very soothing. I also just love Learning new things from you. I've lived off grid in Trapper Creek Alaska for 17 years now and I recently ordered cheap solar panels from harbor freight and now I can get internet access to be able to watch your Channel. I've been able to utilize UA-cam for so many helpful things. Last summer I finally put down my septic tank system after 16 years of outhouse!!! Thank you Slim!!! I'll be watching and listening. 💋
The entire Dandelion plant is edible, from blossom to root. The flowers can be eaten cooked or raw, (there is a YT video of a bush crafter I follow from the UK who makes battered and deep fried dandelion flowers. They looked delicious!) The stems and leaves made a great salad green and the roots can be cleaned and cooked like a root veggie or dried, roasted and ground into a fantastic coffee substitute. I tried my hand at making some dandelion coffee for the first time this year, with some roots I picked out of my backyard. I actually quite liked it. Very close in flavour to coffee but with more of a fruity flavour. Quite delicious and easy to process. It would make a great evening-around-the-fire "mug-up" drink just before hitting the sack as there is no caffeine.
Slim thank you for sharing your tea recipe. We also have had bog teas and enjoy them immensely. We quite often have made rose hip teas for the very fact they are filled with Vitamin C and ever so healthy. Your pictures were beautiful and calm. The north suits you as you look happy. Thanks for sharing the gorgeous country of Canada with us your viewers. We will be watching. I especially enjoyed the calm of the north. We truly are so lucky to live here. CDH
18:30 - Slim offers me a sip of his tea. For a second I was ready to drink, but then quickly realised that I was looking at a screen. Still, I almost tasted it. I'm gonna try it out myself soon, in the woods. Thanks for taking us along, Slim, and inspiring.
As usual like clockwork slim you deliver. Damn i wish i was where you are right now. Amazing how you do it slim. You my friend inspire more than you know. Awesome video.
For those traveling in the US, Rand McNally Road Atlas offers a series of State Gazettes for each state. These are highly detailed maps covering most backwood roads, trails and camping areas for that given state. Most state gazettes are currently available for download to your phone, iPad or other electronic device from Rand McNally.
One of the best Vlog videos I have seen, absolutely brilliant! Thank you so much for this, your videos highlight my week. Peace, calm, nature, foraging, Van living etc, love it.
Hello Slim, you were smart to not let your gas tank run dry. The fuel pump uses the gas in your tank for cooling, with these in tank fuel pumps. Thanks for the campsite book tips. Great foraging tips! Mother Nature provides! Looking forward to your next video. Blazing Saddles and Happy Trails to you my friend.
Too bad he didn’t even know a lake to himself would be there. Best just to have a portable kayak and pole with you as a camper just to magnify the experience.
Hi , Just found your channel. Great to have camping videos in BC. The edible plants segment was very interesting. Also love the absence of pounding music that so many youtubers feel the need to use. You are out in the peace and quiet and the lack of a soundtrack allows you to share this. thanks so much!
Another excellent video from Slim Potatohead!!! Very well done, kind sir!!! I wish I was there with you!!!! Take care, be safe, all my best and God bless!!! Chuck Knight from , Texas, USA. 🤠🐩🖖✝️
Thanks for replying. I really enjoy your videos. My wife and I hired a motor home last year and toured Scotland and a couple of islands, I totally get the isolation thing . Nothing like waking up somewhere remote , quite and scenic. We hope to do something similar after we get rid of this pesky pandemic!!!!.Thanks very much for the entertaining videos, kind regards Andy. ( From the UK )
I drove 4200 miles through and around U.S. Rockies in July with tent and sleeping bags staying in trunk. With coronavirus issue, most places were packed-and I can’t cross into Canada where I usually camp north of Lake Superior. Thanks for helping us dream, breathe and relax vicariously in the woods.👍
I've gotten to the point where I do look forward to Slim's video's. So mellow, well edited and Slim seems to have a batural knack for finding the best and beautiful camping sites I've ever seen. Just leatning as much as I can until my home is paid off in just over three years. I'm a 6 yr lung cancer. I defeated the cancer but the chemo and radiation beat me, lol. I'm very thankful to be alive. After all, in the beginning the doctor told me, 'I ggive you about 90 days', thank you Lord Jesus! Plans are to pay house off, buy a small travel rig and then pickba direction and camp wherever the road leads me. Haven't been camping in way too many years so I'm dreaming and looking forward to it.... I live in the far south area of the U.S. would love to one day maybe meet Slim on the road and sit back and drink a cup of coffee with him. Love his style, so laid back. Just enjoying life as it should be. Wishing you nothing less than the best on your adventures Slim. Keep on doing what you do, you cannot imagine how many you have inspired.
Love your videos! Beautiful scenery and you have such a great attitude about everything! When you were gathering your berries and pine needles I couldn't help think of Euell Gibbons tho, ever eat a pine tree? And you didn't forget Mel Brooks either!
Dandelion also makes an excellent herbal tea and all parts of the plant can be used, root, leaf, and flower with each having a different taste. Beautiful camp spot you found there, Slim, and I enjoyed the botany lesson.
I would've been happy with just being by the water, but the dock was a pleasant bonus. One of my best loved videos. You covered things that your everyday camper or hiker needs to know in a survival atmosphere. Great videos. Please do more.
After watching videos of huge 5th wheelers, probably not far off the square feet of my house, it's great it watch you and where you go with your rig. More my style and you visit the most beautiful countryside. Thanks from Scotland.
I feel like I’m watching the “Hinterland Who’s Who” commercials and these are great! The ASMR sounds of nature along with the educational aspects you put in make these videos worth watching, and listening to!
I loved those Hinterland video shorts growing up. I wish they would bring them back. "For more information about the "XXXXX", please visit the Canadian Wildlife Service, 56 Sparks Street, Ottawa." Classic. (Funny I can remember a vague address for a federal dept. from decades ago but have a hard time remembering what I had for breakfast some days!)
I've driven the Alaska Hwy over 60 times and always make it a habit to never get below 1/2 full on fuel in Yukon and Northern BC because you never know if the gas station you used last year is still open. I've never run out of fuel but still carry a gas can full and have helped out many people over the years.
Having an Atlas/Map is often better than any App especially outside a city because you don't have to keep something charged to view it and Fishing/Stream Guides can even be more detailed than them. One was reminded of Dr Suess's Horton Hears a Who when Slim munched away on a Clover Blossom but hopefully they were on another near by when he made his selection.
Another great video, Slim! I have no idea how anyone can click a thumbs-down on any of your videos. I wait on the edge of my seat for every new one, and I re-watch your previous videos in the meantime! Always so informative and entertaining. Keep them coming!
Slim, you mentioned a kayak, but an inflatable one would be wonderful for visits like these. You should publish a guide book/pamphlet of all the edibles you mention in your vids. Well done, thanks for the trip.
We have similar map books in the states called delorme gazetteer. Each state has its own. Some of my more well traveled states are well used and have so much writing in it for all the special spots I have been over the years. I love them.
If you're going as far as Watson Lake, get gas at the pumps in front of Watson Lake Motors, by far the cheapest in town. It's just east of the Sign Post Forest. It's not well marked, but that's where the locals get their gas.
I carried a plastic jerry can in my van on my trip across canada.. the seem busted and gas dumped everywhere. Of course, I spent several hours in an icestorm before i got to the nearest town and cut out all the interior carpet. Had a migraine for days. Jerry can is now only carried outside my vehicle/trailer.
This has to be one of your most relaxing videos to watch Slim. I'm into eating/drinking whats found in nature and that tea of yours sounded so good. please do more on whats edible out wherever you may be. My cup of tea LOL
Another good one, Slim. When you began demonstrating survival foods there were some fireweed plants visible beyond your right shoulder. People who are not in survival mode make delicious salads featuring the tender growth at the top of fireweed plants. Agreed that it's good to know how many miles/kilometers you can expect from a tank of gas, and I have a hunch you also know (but are keeping to yourself) how much of another kind of gas you can expect to from a can of beans. ;^)
There are BRMB books for all areas of BC. My Vancouver Island copy is getting dog eared and filled with margin notes. Great video as usual Slim, Thank You. Dig the Smokey the Bear cup btw.
Wow Slim, pretty gutsy there. I traveled that same highway pulling a t@b 400 in early Sept last year and we lived by the rule - when the gauge hits half a tank, fill up. If I remember right, there is a whole lot of nothing out there but beautiful scenery. I also seem to remember cell coverage wasn't the best either and carrying an industrial size can of bear spray was encouraged.

You need an air deflector on your Jeep, the trailer is higher than your Jeep, the wind is hitting your trailer head on, you van figure it out by looking at your Jeep and trailer together, awesome video slim, I worked on a camp up there as a seismic medic....so beautiful but full of blood thirsty mosquitos and biting gnats...
What a great campsite! Shade, sunny spots, water, forest & free food! I noticed that you are careful not to take more than you need, leaving enough to encourage further production. Perfect. Great goung on the gasoline use. One ofe the benefits of traveling at lower speed is needing less fuel than those whizzing past. And allvthe beauty out there too. Bliss.
I get ridiculously excited when I see you post a video, and so impatient for my work day to be over so I can watch it! Thank you for letting us tag along on your adventures. You camp in the most sublime spots.
Slim, I have not watched you for awhile, and your trailer is not the A-liner... The peacefulness of this video is appreciated and thanks. I often worry about you getting lonely, as you do not even have a dog.. Lately, there is so much uncertainty in the world, and I realize there is absolutely no one I trust anymore, and I feel my attitudes changing.. I am watching this, sitting in the front room with my windows open, blue skies and sun, but I have traffic speeding up and down the dual carriageway, watching your videos take me to the quiet and tranquillity of nature.
As always a beautiful nature video, with a lot of good ideas. Always nice to see your videos. It remind me of a TV show that we had in Norway in the 80`s. Everyone born that time , know the man and the programme. Thank you and best wishes from Jan in Norway

Slim must be "loose as a goose" eating raisin bran, beans and drinking herbal tea. 😁
Speaking of "loose as a goose", apparently some dogs find goose poopies a ravishing delicacy. 😁
@@ExtraordinaryLiving carnivorous animals who eat the feces of others are trying to supplement a deficient die-it, blame Purina GMO cornfields for that.
@@ExtraordinaryLiving If anyone's dog does that...off to the vet it is to find out what is missing!
What a wonderful surprise to find a random dock at the side of a lake. I find my spots from the " hip". And the BRM is the ONLY book to use.
I have been using those mapbooks for 30+ years.
Your videos never disappoint! Excellent once again! Thank you for sharing your life with us all. We learn so much from you. Safe travels! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻😁
Very interesting video. Keep up the good work.
Excellent video! I live in Texas but it is so interesting to see Canadian foraging! Love it 👍
The soothing and dulcet tones of Slim in the Wild. Perfect way to enjoy my evening tea!
I didn’t know you could make tea from spruce needles. Very interesting. Thanks Slim.
That dock and dead-fall make for some great Bass fishing :))
