  • The conclusion of my Castle trilogy, this video is a very subtle walk in the woods. A hike and dinner, simple as that! I do however sneak in a few hints about toilets and results of gas mileage should anyone ask!

FYI - Anywhere you find stinging nettles you will also find lamb's ear growing close by.
Any place you get stung by the nettles rub with the lamb's ear and the pain will disappear quickly.

Supposedly, jewelweed (if you know how to identify it) and some other wild herbs, are useful for nettle stings.

In a UA-cam world of the pandemic and confinement, and non-stop politics and division, it's so refreshing watching Slim get out in his rig and enjoy nature in its glory and the simple comforts of his trailer home. It's a nice escape and inspires me to want to dust off my old camping gear and get away from the madness.

Saute the stinging nettle with butter, garlic, salt and pepper after boiling is delicious. The natives used them for many medicinal treatments. Applied to achy joints the stinging would bring blood to the area and alleviate pain for example. After the initial stinging of course ;) Very important to many tribes, for many purposes and highly nutritious.

Loved it. Your amazing videographer and editing skills makes your videos some of the best. I took notice of the shot crossing the stream. Clearly you crossed several times cause you had to go back and get the camera. So lovely to go on a nature walk! Also the night sky was a lovely bonus.

My adult daughter worked at a small lodge about 12mls from the north rim of the Grand Canyon. First clear night I got her outside and had her look at the sky. She was struck speechless then started babbling in amazement about all the viable stars. It's heart breaking what so many people miss by not going out into the boonies and nature.

The stream reminded me of The Strid near Bolton Abbey in Yorkshire - people have to be warned not to jump it. It looks narrow and an easy leap, but the rocks are slippery and downstream is treacherous. I grew up near there and also remember stinging nettles very well - we'd rub dock leaves on our skin if we were stung - don't know if there are dock leaves in Canada.

Stinging Nettles are quite commonly used in Italian cooking. I believe that it is often used as part of the filling for ravioli and tortellini. Blanching it destroys the little stinging hairs after which it is quite edible and nutritious.

Slim, great video as always! I found you by looking for info on setting up a solar panel and then watched everything you've made. You are now by far my favorite UA-camr!

This is a very easy recipe thought you might like: - 1 can black beans (15 oz)
    - 1 bag frozen onion and pepper mix (or chop up fresh) add as much as you like
    - 1/2 to 1 cup corn (or other veggies you like)
    - small can of green chilis (4 oz)
    - add any other spices you like
    - package of tortillas (most all tortillas are vegan)
Mix all together except tortillas in a sauce pan. I like to cook till black beans are very tender. (Note if you don't want all the green Chili's only add half ) Serve in tortillas and garnish with what ever you like. Salsa, Onions, fresh veggies or vegan cheese.
Also you could change this up with your veggie hotdogs or other vegan protien in place of the black beans.
Enjoy your videos! Especially all the beautiful nature ones! Love the great outdoors

The iridescent beetle is a buprestid of some sort. Their larvae are wood-borers.
