Slim, I love the fact that when you encounter a problem, you describe what happened EXACTLY and how you fixed it. You are a very talented individual. I am, as always, pumped for your next video.
I think the trailer companies should pay you a good salary to design their trailers. You have more practical experience than they have. Thanks slim.
Seriously! They need to hire actual users as designers. Not some person thats never stepped outside an office or never wore jeans.
Not as a designer, but as a QC tester with input to the designers.
I really like the backup camera setup! Please post a long-term review once you've gotten significant use out of it.
I have worked with pvc fittings for decades. The simple brackets you made blew me away - so simple, so effective. I am not sure I would have thought of that. I don't have a use for them right now, but I won't forget that idea, either.
Wow!!! Great renos!!! I am hunting down a cast iron that size, since its just me and hubby. I was looking at the floor plans for our custom Taylor Coach, and came up with a area to make a changing room, its just the entryway(34"×45") to our trailer, but right outside the bathroom, so with a curtain and a expandable rod, got a change room!! I told hubby I had a SP moment!🤣😅😁😎
You have such awesome ideas! You make me think of my late husband a lot. He could come up with ideas to fix anything and I miss him so much. Love your videos and all the wildlife you show. Keep traveling, be safe, and be happy!!!
Sorry for your loss.
Sounds like you were blessed with a wonderful husband. You never know how a simple video can be a gift to the heart. Hugs sister.
Slim, your attention to the maintenance of your trailer is top-notch. Your willingness to attend to things with a sense of DIY gives me more courage with my trailer. The result is that I repaired my shower and did a better job of it than the original builders. (That bar is set fairly low.) Thank you for being a leader in this respect. Your videos are always good, sometimes beautiful, sometimes helpful, sometimes both. I went small with my trailer, although not as small as you, for my wife is with me. Smaller is easier to maintain, cool, heat, clean and move. Again we are following your lead. Thank you for the video work you do, sharing your wisdom. It’s always a pleasure to find your contributions on the UA-cam. Texas
That was a yucky mess....but as always, you share a great attitude and sense of humor. I really enjoy your posts.
Another good video...! I use SOFT material for my shower curtain. They do not leak, dry quickly & fold with a small footprint. One I just bought at Walmart the other day is Better Homes & Garden Ultimate Shield Shower Liner, white, 100% waterproof. 😊
Speechless what if u haven't noticed the water gathering until hot summer weather that smell would be unbearable, glad u took noticed and rectified the problem 👍🏾
I just love your update on the shower. Very ingenious! You always come up with great ideas!
Wow that was a lot of water. Nice repair. Cheers!!!
About 12 pounds of water weight. Oh, wait...
that would be about almost 5.4 kilos.😊
As you were drilling the holes, I was thinking back to the hack for an MGB, drilling holes in the bottom of doors to let water drain out, to aviod the door rusting out from the inside. I would say, "Luckily, I had a Midget," but owning an MG is like owning a boat: the two best days are the day you buy it, and the day you sell it.
Owning a vintage British car turns you into a mechanic or a foreign car owner.
Thank you, I used to rush to destinations for work but now that I'm retired, no rush, enjoy the journey.
The ONLY exception for me is getting as far south, as quick as I can, to start my snowbirding and avoid the snow (doesn't always happen though). The rest of the driving ... there's no rush.
I need a minute to get over that water draining OMG.
I appreciate your final advice: “Take your time,...” Thank you, Slim.
Hi Slim, for pots & pans, rather than an Amazon envelope, I use microfiber cloths and oven mitts and place them between other pots/pans nested together - they prevent the rattling and can actually be used for another purpose.
You are simply brilliant!😁. I like responsible drivers! They’re the Best! Have a Wonderful summer Slim!
I wish your videos were longer, but I’ll take what I can get... 🍻Slim
Love the bungie strap idea, bubble envelopes for small heavy items is brilliant!
Wow, all that water hiding in your floor well is scary, nothing like a mold feature.
Great advice for the highway 🤙🏼
Hi SLIM 👍👍GREAT Advice As Always GOD BLESS EVERYONE 💖
those new shower brackets are a stroke of genius , amazing .
The vintage Trilliums had a pontoon running around the perimeter. The theory was if there was a leak, it would collect there first. Hopefully, none got to the plywood that is sandwiched between the exterior fiberglass and the interior fiberglass. Once that plywood rots, its a very difficult repair. Some pontoons has small drain holes, some didn't. Escape trailers use a similar design, theirs have drain holes. People don't realize these trailers rot from the inside out. Leaking plumbing, or windows, or whatever, water collects in the pontoons. Check inside benches and lower cabinets carefully.
Anywhere water can collect needs drains. It's not enough to think that because it's inside under roof that it won't get wet; just normal condensation will build up if you don't drain it. Ask and boat repair shop about fiberglass delamination- they see it a lot and it can never be fixed as well as the original build was.
Another great video Slim, we expect nothing less and are never disappointed either. I always love seeing what you have improved your camper with in each of these videos, and find that you are a lot like us, frugal and you have lots of common sense. I bet draining out all of that water, lightens the load of the camper. lol I was amazed at how much water came out of those spaces. Now at least if you have any leaks the water has somewhere to go, instead of just hanging out in the body of your camper. Good Job!!!!
Oh and when you said that if we get excited we should stop and relax a bit, before driving on, I would never make it anywhere with that attitude, these crazy drivers now adays always stress me out. LOL Must be another reason I stay so close to home too. lol
Need to get yourself a solar bug zapper. Love your videos!!!
Genius! You remind me of my Dad (highest compliment I can give anyone!) as he made modifications to our 20' motor home (for my mother's sake). I really appreciate you sharing your great mods and tweaks!!! Happy Trails, as Roy Rogers used to say!
Slim as usual you my friend are a man of 1000 ideas. I dont know how you do it. Honestly please im begging you. I have to knowWhat was your profession because i just dont see you sitting in an office for 30 yrs. The things you do and show your energy everything you do and show and suggest is incredible. Please do a ask slim video soon if its not to invasive. Thanks slim.
@tnxjesus, I discussed with my viewers a few months ago my thoughts on doing a live stream, and every response was negative. I was asked NOT to do them. Since then I put the concept on the backburner. Thanks! SP
@@SlimPotatohead Hi Slim. Perhap you could do an ask Slim board on your website? I understand your need for privacy, but it would be nice to know a bit more about your life/background if possible. From your videos I have learned that ....you like good beer...don't eat meat...are really into blue and pretty much all music...camped a lot when younger...have a daughter (tattertot)...are not a nomad, but instead a traveler and that you live in Alberta Canada. You are very creative and I'm sure there are some great back stories from your past that shaped who you are and how you look at things. They would be great to share....Just an idea.....
@@SlimPotatohead youve really become apart of our lives. Amazing how you can influence and make an impact on people that youve never met personally but yet feel like we know you as a close friend.
Your edits always surprise me. Thank you for your hard work
Love what you're doing to your trailer. From the solar mods all the way to the extra stabalizer jacks you added.
How about the cheap aluminum carabiners to hang the shower curtain? Then it would be a snap to hang😁
Slim Potatohead - the MacGyver of trailer mods. Thanks Slim!
Always look forward to your videos Slim. We pull a small tear drop and last year on our 3xmonth trip, we searched for a good camera to watch to the rear as we drive. Found something similar to what you got, but instead of a dedicated monitor as you have, that system used an app on your smart phone. Had some good reviews, but terrible customer support so in the end we opted to hard wire a FURRION 7" camera. Service center ran the power cord direct to our trailer tail light. What a huge difference and we were able to ditch those shaky aftermarket mirror extensions. Hope you are more successful with your hanging cook ware than we were. No matter how secure we thought they were, something always fell off. Nature of the beast in small trailers, so we keep everything secure in drawers and then when camped at a location for a few days, may hang them up. There is no hurry when traveling when you're pulling your home/room behind you. We are always under the speed limit and in the slow poke lane whenever possible. Curious, I know your trailer isn't that heavy, but have you considered adding a sway bar? Our tear drop is around 3200lbs loaded (full water tanks etc.) and while there is no requirement for a sway bar on a trailer of that weight, we use one and feel more confident and safe pulling the trailer.
So cool that the camera comes with a little solar panel. Love your videos and thank you for sharing.
That shower is nothing short of genius, excellent job, love your channel.
Hi Slim, great video, that drain portion was shocking, glad you caught that in time. Have fun and be safe on the road!
I see all your videos !! I wish I can live there in the forest 🌳 in a trailer like you
Some really great ideas and great fixes. You come up with some really good solutions. Keep having fun.
GREAT VIDEO. I love your practical solutions
Slim, you make my day with your videos, thank you!!!!
Great video to get your mind off of every day issues and relax for a bit.
Thank you, much appreciate it!
I really appreciate and respect your ingenuity Slim!
You're always so clever to come up with these fixes/changes you do.
Slim, you have to be one of the most creative people I have come across,. It shows not only in your ingenuity in addressing problems but also in your creativity in making your videos. I am currently waiting on the title to an Aliner to which the dog and I will be new the owners and people like you have inspired me to live life to the fullest in the time that I have left. Thanks
You are so right about the 100% concentration! Excellent video again, thank you!
I love to watch your videos! They make you think outside the box! Great work! My camper stays in camp, nothing to tow it. But still camp in it all of the time. Thank you!!
Love the rear camera idea. That might just be perfect for our slide -in truck camper. I've been saving a large amazon bubble wrap envelope on my 5th wheel sofa for a month wondering what to do with it. Now I know!! Thanks Slim for sharing!
Backup cam! Ladder! Stabilizer jacks! THANKS! Probably buying a Scamp this weekend!
And that my friends, is How To Change the oil in a travel trailer
I’m a sub fairly new. You , sir, are a genius. So many ideas and not just for trailers. So many other applications. Keep them coming. Enjoy all your vids. Thank you for all your efforts.
"Macgyver Slim" ! You're on my "Macgyver hero" list!! 😉 ☮❤🕉
That ladder is awesome by the way, I have its 10.5 foot brother (collapses down to 2.5 feet) just bought from Wally Mart for CAN$103 + HST. WATCH YER THUMBS.
Hey Slim - I've gotten so many good ideas from you. With my SUV and a-frame, I'm over 30 feet long so backing up is challenging at times. I just ordered the Auto-Vox system and can't wait to try it out. Thanks again!
Right sir when veiwing your stabilizers you should check out the german Alko-Kobers stuff, they are great at this
One of your best videos! (But I say that after every one of them!) 💚
Ahh.. Good Video! That's my reaction, when I see a Slim video just posted. Much like yours to a good cup of coffee. Just makes your day. :)
I really enjoy your channel and videos. When I first decided I wanted an RV, I researched and researched. I fell for the A-frames and the fiberglass makes. That's around the time I started watching your channel. I've learned a lot from you. Your last words of advice are so on point, though. I've learned them from making some mistakes. Especially, never drive when you're tired. It's too easy to make dangerous mistakes. Thanks.
Ah! Sailor Potato Head!Clean the bilge out, Matee!😉
Slim, your ingenuity never ceased to amaze me. Thanks again.
Peace… Shalom… Salam... Namaste and Thank You so much for All that you are doing for our Mother Earth 🙏🏻 😊 🌈 ✌ 🌷 ❤

I feel like when I do finally get on the road I want to be caravaning with you, the who knoes all. Thanks for sharing and as always stay safe, safe travels, and God bless love ya Nancy
Good driving advice. After draining your camper, you're probably a few pounds lighter! 😄
About 12 lbs lighter now (1.5 US gallons). Think of all the beer you can carry now Slim.
WOW! That was a lot of water. So many great ideas. You never cease to amaze me. This video was a nice change. Really enjoyed it. Thanks Slim. Be well and play safe.
Love your ideas and fixes
Such great ideas. Thank you for sharing all of it!
I have travelled all over Australia when I lived there. There was these billboards and electronic signs on the major highways saying "drive to stay alive pull over and have a cuppa tea..." Great advice... and I did! The little outback is coming along great mate.

I wondered if that wasn't supposed to be drilled as dains by the fender wells.
GREAT idea on storing a ladder. I've been trying to figure out how to do it this RV doesn't have a ladder installed.
I really like that back up camera....I may have to invest in one.
Good video! Lots of helpful tips, thanks!
