@@davenero8243Which Toto singer? Maybe Bobby Kimball? Lukather and Paich sang lead on several of their songs, and several songs featured 2 or 3 singers exchanging lead vocals on verses and chorus,etc..then, after Kimball left, they got a plethora of other singers to take his place...I always heard Kimball had a lot of personal issues, is why they let him go..a shame, as he had such a great distinctive voice..I feel if Kimball had been able to step up and be "THE" lead singer in Toto, and had sang lead on most of their songs, they would have had more consistent commercial success...lead vocals by committee doesn't do much for a band trying to establish an identity, and is seldom successful, although it seemed to work for Fleetwood Mac, and several successful bands have had 2 lead vocalists...

Saw them in '83...and because of our seats (me and my girl...we were in our early 20s) Steve would grab this pole and sing to me and my girl! Like 3 feet away. SO close I heard him not him over the sound system. I'll never forget they were so perfect..so spot on, I couldnt tell if it was the album being played. I am so glad I lived in a big city back in the day of good music. Ive seen almost EVERYONE. Even Led Zeppelin at the ASU Activity Center when I was 14! I remember buying my girlfriend a Journey T-shirt for Christmas. If you didn't life back then, you'll never understand howe big and popular their iconography was. Awesome story. We saw Huey Lewis in a small club in Okc before anyone knew anything about him. We sat in club table closest to the stage. I walked right up against the stage and took pics with my macro zoom lens 35mm. Had to cover the lens until I clicked the shutter cause the spit and sweat was flying. They were PERFECT. Every song went on the radio and shot up the charts. Live was even better than the album. Which is almost never the case. Amazing and perfect.

I saw them seven times, and I saw them twice with Aynsley Dunbar on drums. First time was just Journey, no Steve Perry. Steve Smith was in the opening act, Ronnie Montrose solo tour. I knew that cat was good as I lived Enigmatic Ocean, and Steve Smith was the drummer on that album. Then, we saw Journey with Emerson, Lake, and Palmer. I forced my girlfriend to go with me as I got to see Aynsley and Carl Palmer. Much to our shock, on the second tune, out comes this dude in a red suit, with red tennis shoes, and he was doing harmonies with Greg Rolie and he wa so spot on, he just blew us away, and then they did Wheel in the Sky which NONE of us had ever heard at that time.
      Pretty amazing stuff.

Suzanne is a good one...probably my favorite song on the whole album was "It Could Have Been You"...from the catchy groove to some of Steve's most soulful vocals..."Girl Can't Help It" would be second...I remember buying the album as soon as I could get it, listening to it all the way through, and asserting it was one of their best albums yet, if not THE best. And I was certain "It Could Have Been You" would be a top 10 single at some point...and perplexed a year or two later, that it was never even released as a single....@@jamesbain1010

In 1994 on his CD singles for "You Better Wait" and "Missing You" he released 8 songs( 4 songs on each CD) from his unreleased "Against the Wall " album. The other four songs ("Against the Wall" , " When You're in Love(for the first time)", " Summer of Luv" , and "Once in a Lifetime, Girl" ) were released on the "Greatest Hits" Album in 1998. When his solo Albums were re-released and remastered in 2006, he released 2 more unreleased tracks ("Can't Stop" and "Friends of Mine" ) from his unreleased album as bonus tracks on "For the Love of Strange Medicine" album. The album wasn't released because the record company didn't hear any singles or like the musical direction of the 11 tracks he submitted.
He hasn't reunited with Journey because his voice can't handle the touring they would want to do if he returned.

What isnt told here is about how Perry had wrestled control and rights to the bands name "Journey" away from the band. The band wanted to play, Perry refused to join back, refused to allow them use of the name. A real bad boy with a bad attitude. Not here to judge. Despite what seems like a fantasy life, the endless tours, appearances and never getting to rest your head having a normal day has taken a huge toll on many bands. But it wasn't all sunshine and rainbows as this video makes Perry's touch and go with the band. I loved the old Journey, The Wheel in The Sky Journey. Pop's not really my thing but they were good, very good.Hope Perry and the Boys find Peace.

It’s not click bait. The title is pretty clear that it’s a reunion that already occurred and didn’t work out. It says it was “bittersweet” and “disastrous”. How could it be bittersweet and disastrous if it hadn’t even occurred yet. I don’t know how anybody could read that and think it’s a current reunion.

Steve Perry was a great singer. But he also put the blame on Neal Schon for the breakup. It took years until he finally admitted that he left the band for his own personal reasons. Unfortunately Neil Sean took the huge blame for it all. I went to school with Neal Schon and he was always a great guy. I’m not saying he was perfect in the band but he is certainly one of the greatest musicians and people really do not know how talented he is because he was playing in this band and Steve Perry changed everything in the band. He has always been a selfish lead singer but his voice and writing are very amazing. I can’t imagine saying anything different. He just wanted to be more pop than anything else. Journey will always be one of the great bands of my generation. They are still going strong and they have the perfect singer right now who clearly can sing just like Steve Perry I watched the videos before he joined them and I just thought he should be the singer for them and I was right. He does not have the attitude and he is a great person with great talent . I understand why Steve Perry left. Journey was touring all the time and you had to get burnt out because they were loved by everyone and they didn’t know how to pull back for a bit. They just kept going on and on and recording and then back to it again.

Look I think Steve Perry was really the voice of Journey. And he does deserve his accolades. I know he had enough of touring and songwriting for the time. But he never really emoted any gratitude for those that got him there. Especially his bandmates, Jonathan Cain and Neal Schon. They really (especially Cain) felt that Steve let them down. Look? I can understand what Steve was going through, but why didn't he want to finish the tour? He should have got the surgery and after the tour? Bid a closing farewell to Journey.
This felt way too much like Steve didn't want to be in a band anymore. I know the video tries to steer away from Steve Perry going solo, but that is exactly what he did. And he was interviewed in I think it was 2020. The interviewer asked Steve point blank about a reunion? Basically he worded it as "When hell freezes over". So that right there did indicate he had considerable friction in the band. But as a songwriter and a singer? He truly is a legend. But IMHO he really did kind of stick it the other members of Journey especially Cain and Schon.

I've been a big Journey fan since '81. I've seen them through all the iterations - Perry to Augeri to Pineda (there was even someone between the last 2). But I'm done with them. They're living off a long ago past. And the drama is ridiculous - Shon vs Cain, Shon vs Pineda. Journey is schheduled to play in OMA in Apr but with all their bickering, I wonder if the show won't be cancelled. Who needs the drama. Give it up.

Journey have become a toxic band. Infighting and whining. Steve Perry should be glad he has nothing to do with them. If Arnel had any sense he would walk too after the Schon BS last year. Neal Schon and his 'tribute band' can go on and continue the nastiness and BS Schon is a tool. Steve is doing well without Schon and his toxic cr*p.

The last time we saw Journey and Mr. Perry on a stage together, was for the 2017 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction ceremony.
And since Mr. Perry said that he would come to the ceremony but wouldn't sing, they didn't perform a single song together!
Besides, he has always made perfectly clear that he will never return to Journey, not even for one song.
    Journey's repertoire is vocally demanding.
But Mr. Perry is 75 now and his voice has changed, of course (who can remain young and at their best forever?!)
It's still beautiful, but it doesn't sound anymore the way it used to in the 80's or even in the 90's.
So there will never be a "disastrous return of Steve Perry" because there's simply no possibility that this could ever happen.
Mr. Perry is way too intelligent to make such a mistake.
