I saw Journey play Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto in 1982 on the "Escape" Tour. Steve Perry's voice live was incredible! His voice just soared like an Eagle, and he held those high notes forever! Steve was an energetic front man too; He ran across the stage, and up and down the stairs like a mountain goat. Journey was one of the very best sounding bands that I ever saw in concert, and I think I've seen over 100 different groups play live.
OMG....I was there downtown Toronto by the ML Gardens then....but did not have a ticket to the show unfortunately. I was 21. What month was that do you remember?
It is probably why his hip couldn't stand up to the trauma. Much the same as Prince. Who turned to medicine that eventually caused his demise. The brightest flames burn out the fastest. This is why Steve had to stop. He wanted to live.
I hear from him every SF Giants game. He's at every game going crazy when the Giants play good. Runs up and down the isle he's in and high fives everyome. I got lucky a few times. And when they play his songs he sings with the fans. He's amazing and can sign better then 100% of all artists out today.
I agree!! Steve Perry has the most beautiful and unique voice. Love Journey. Saw them So many years ago. Wonderful memories!! Gorgeous Steve Perry still! :)
Saw Journey numerous times in the 70's and in the 80's back when concerts were concerts. Steve has a unique voice that no one can even come close too. It would be Great if he did return for a few shows.
Only one Steve Perry for me. Journey was my high school and young adult life track. I couldn’t follow after he left. Still love to hear old Journey and his voice that takes me back.
Steve is a legend and should go out again and do what he loves doing. Thats is what he is a Singer and one of the Greatest Ever. We love you Steve. Do what you want to do Steve come back and show the World who you are. Just like Elvis did in the 68 Comeback. Elvis gave us Himself and he never looked back. Steve go for it life is to short. God bless you Steve your Amazing and we want you to do what you were born to do Kick Ass and sing and we will never leave you. Your a true legend and no one will ever be you. God gave you a Amazing voice. You Are loved by millions. Show the World your still the best!
I love the story a coworker told me at work about Steve Perry needing his HVAC system serviced. Upon entering his residence he noticed all the Gold and Platinum albums hung on the walls but had no clue that he was finalizing the service visit with the lead singer of Journey. I'm told that Steve lives near me but I still have not met him. It's really cool what different people you can run into in life.
I saw Journey in concert when I was a teen, it was a great concert! No worries Perry, we all age, you are still loved, will always be remembered and loved for your youthful days of singing.
True. Bob Seger is proof that the fans will always be there for their favorites. He can't sing like he could 30 or 40 years ago, but the fans still love him and want to see him perform.
Steve Perry has been blessed with a voice that is recognizable no matter what he sings. He's awesome. I love him and I don't care if he never makes another recording. He's worked hard and deserves to do whatever he wants. The grueling schedules he's went through for years takes a tole. Luv u Mr. Perry!
Okay. Nice video. I just saw excerpts from VH-1 Behind the Music. Nothing new. Steve Perry will forever be one of (if not) the best voices of Rock. I miss that Journey period. The MTV videos, etc.
@@precisionbrown6829 the audience IS nuts. The size of the numbers keeps fooling people. Lots of problems caused by numbers. Not 1 journey song gets played on Australian radio in the last 30 years. Michael Jackson gets played everyday, multiple times a day.
Steve Perry the greatest rock singer that ever lived. He made his best music and walked away on top! I mean seriously he was at the best in his life and just felt he'd never achieve anything higher....and he was absolutely correct! He did it the way it should be done....He already knew it was downhill from the point he walked away.....he'd just be chasing a shadow of himself...why go through the agony!
We love you Steve. You were a big part of my high school years. I can see and hear my best friend { who passed on in the nineties every time your music plays. We were in the high school choir at Wolmers in Jamaica. Great, great singer - an inspiration for sure.

I would cry like a baby watching Mr. Perry perform because he made me Feel every word that he sang. I'm not the type to "swoon", but he left me mesmerized. He will always be the Artist that I could never tire of, past or present.
Foolish heart was played on the R&B stations back in the day. I remember my mom buying the 45. My favorite song will always be send her my love. What a voice❤️
Steve Perry has been sick for years! He had hips replaced when still young. His health has been terrible. Most beautiful voice rock and roll has ever heard.
Sarah Metzgar Why do you say Steve's been sick for ages? He's had some health issues, sure, just like anyone else does, but his health is relatively good considering his age. (He's 68, btw.) He had hip surgery (not "hipS") 20 years ago and a cancer scare a few years back (considering how many outdoor gigs we did back then and in the sun), plus some weight issues that were related to meds, but he's in fairly decent shape considering all that. Maybe you should watch him at the recent RRHOF from a few months ago. I noticed several physical changes for the better that you fans wouldn't notice. Stop making generalizations you found on some media site that claims things like "Obama is a Space Alien" or such.
KARELLEN OVERLORD I agree with your comments. Having grown up in Lodi and Manteca,Ca locals have felt a kinship to Steve and his family. However two things are critical to singing Rock and Roll songs well and that is leg strength and low weight. At age 68 it will be difficult to manage both. I am not challenging you, I just wish you and Steve and Lou Gramm good health.
Steve Perrywill always be remembered as having one of the greatest voices in the industry. I am so happy to have grown up in Journey's hey day. I had all their albums and saw them live twice. Pure magic.
Die-Hard Journey fan right here !!! OMG!! When they came to Fresno, Ca back in 19(cough cough)86 or 87 I believe ...when admission was $20...yeah..exactly!! I was FRONT ROW !!!!!!!!!!!!!! And when I saw Steve Perry run on stage and I thought I'd died and gone to Heaven!!!! Love you Steve Perry...best wishes to you from me YOUR #1FAN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You should have taped it, you'd have made a fortune on copies of the tapes. Of course nobody knew back then Perry would fall out with the band and leave. LOL.
Steve, you have paid your dues. Thank you so much for your musical gifts. We will always love you, and and it’s okay for you to simply make YOU happy now. -Whatever that may be. You well deserve it. Peace brother.
The clock is ticking on this reunion to ever happen. Schon and Perry really need to patch things up once and for all for the sake of the fans (and themselves). Time heals all wounds, and I get the feeling Perry would like one last shot to create something special. The album "Escape" remains in rotation on my playlist all these years later. Make it happen boys!
I know where he's at, he's 8 miles down the road from me. I went to the same high school as him. He lives in a little tiny township in a very nice home. We see him a the township's only gas station sometimes, he's a nice guy.

Who told you, the pride of the Philippines no other than Arnel Pineda.....
Louie Rivera
Steve Perry is a local boy with a soft soul and Huge voice! Thanks for great memories!!
holy shit what a voice! Love Arnel Pineda, but Steve Perry will always be the voice of Journey!
Yes
headbuster03 when i think of Journey its like you are seeing Steve not Arnel not other singer but Steve What a great singer and soooooo handsome. I am yours Steve love you forever
You got that right. That's for sure.👏👏👍
@a e s t h i t i c /c h i c k "that Perry guy!?!" Are you serious!? You don't really know ..."JOURNEY"
@a e s t h i t i c /c h i c k
You immature "chick," grow up, Get a life, & find a little happiness. Try putting on some Journey. The REAL JOURNEY...DONT STOP BELIEVING, FAITHFULLY, WHEELS IN THE SKY....😣😜😁😂😂😌👋👋 🙏✌😁
I love you Steve Perry! Your songs made memories of a lifetime. I was so lucky to grow up in the 80s. Class of 89
I agree!! Steve Perry has the most beautiful and unique voice. Love Journey. Saw them So many years ago. Wonderful memories!! Gorgeous Steve Perry still! :)
The man wanted a private life after giving most of it to RNR and touring the planet. Dude is 70 now leave him alone.
Age has nothing to do with it he is just sexy and on fire. Ssss 🔥
Martina Carrilo sexy ? So listen to his records. lol omg
Kevin Baker yes! Touring constantly takes a terrible toll on you. Hotels, hiding from fans eating fast food.
It’s tough
Kevin Baker Steve Perry finally put out a new solo album. You should check it out.
Kevin Baker: Poor guy. He’s been having health issues since the late 90s. He probably retired from touring
I'm never going to replace Steve Perry !!! Never !!!
This man's vocals aged like a fine wine
Always loved Journey since a kid. Steve was a reason I started into music.
sad what a beautiful voice steve perry had. i love his songs from then, Forever.
Steve Perry, like Robert Plant and Freddie Mercury, a true vocal and rock legend.
Bon Scott.
@Paul W Totally agree
Oh hell ya he was journey
Wheel in the sky won't keep turning
Axl Rose
When anyone hears the name Journey, Steve Perry is the first thing that comes to their minds! Steve Perry made Journey a legend in his time! 👍
Steve Perry had one of the best vocals I have ever heard.
damn Great voice, doesn't matter, he is still the best singer i have heard. Miss your voice Steve Perry.
I'm so happy to have been in my early 20s in that era, and have experienced all of the great songs from him and his band, an iconic singer for sure!
Your the best and we all want you to sing again. Its time and we all are behind you. God bless you Steve your Amazing and we want you to do what you were born to do Kick Ass and sing and we will never leave you. Your a true legend and no one will ever be you. God gave you a Amazing voice. You Are loved by millions. Show the World your still the best!
His old.. we need new
Steve's new album Traces is out Oct 5th
He can't sing like he could 30 or 40 years ago, but the fans still love him and want to see him perform.
journey sounds awesome with Rascal Flats! Check em out!
Steve, come back to your calling. Soothe and rock the world again with your voice.
Steve ‘THE VOICE’ Perry, the soaring vocals are just the greatest, purest, sweetest sound ever.
Steve Perry will always be Journey and no one can replace him.
Steve Perry may be imitated but you can't replace the original without missing something. Good health to you Steve
@rookit snipe na Clean your ears
I Don't Care lol replaced him!
Are you nuts? You can’t replace anybody
@@precisionbrown6829 the audience IS nuts.
The size of the numbers keeps fooling people. Lots of problems caused by numbers.
Not 1 journey song gets played on Australian radio in the last 30 years.
Michael Jackson gets played everyday, multiple times a day.
My understanding is he lost his significant other to Brest cancer in the last few years which is very sad.
@rookit snipe na Don't troll Steve Perry's sites. Spend your time on Arnel's sites if you think he's better than Perry.
His voice can never be duplicated, I agree Steve made the band period!
You're so right he is smart not to ruin his legacy he didn't even sing on their induction to rock & roll hall of fame
Your drunk. Freddie Mercury, and everyone else is tied for a distant second place.
He got burnt out , I can relate to that ! HELLO
PLUS HE IS ENTITLED TO DO WHAT HE WANTS. !!! He EARNED IT !
We love you Steve. You were a big part of my high school years. I can see and hear my best friend { who passed on in the nineties every time your music plays. We were in the high school choir at Wolmers in Jamaica. Great, great singer - an inspiration for sure.
Hi dear,
Is nice meeting you here.
I'm Clinton from California and you?
I love Steve Perry so much! I'm so glad I grew up in that era and I still listen 2 him everyday and always will- may he live a long life love you Steve
Such a great voice on Steve Perry missed him a whole lot when he was finding himself, can't be mad at him for that we all had these feelings in our lives! Happy to watch you again Steve, God bless. keep going! namaste
love love Steve always. I wish him health and happiness.
Dare I say it? Steve has “stopped believing”.
Betty Naeini same I love him so much
Steve is such a class act. Always loved his voice.
I seen Journey back in the 80’s Steve Perry the most wonderful entertainer of my life, voice of an Angel , God Bless You Man, Dont stop believing 🙏
Send Her My Love??? Are you serious!!! Actually... I couldn't agree with you more... it's my favorite too!
He's one of my favorites!!!!
slicendicen Send her my love is my favorite by them as well. Followed by Faithfully
'Send her my love' one of my very favs...'Wheel in the Sky' and 'Who's Cryin' Now' round out my top 3 Journey tunes, I'd say.
@slicendicen: they NEVER played any of Steve's songs on the R&B stations where I'm from!!! 😡 Steve Perry has a new album TRACES: 10/5/18
Steve Perry was and is Journey he is what made that band and I love the era that was my era and the best music late 70 and 80’s!!🌹
Nobody can ever take the place of Perry, God bless him through all that he has been through 🌷🙏💞 to you from a big fan always
No one could ever come close to sound like this Gods Gift to Steve an awesome amazing VOICE .
He also went through a lot losing hies mother.
nunya beeswax you are RIGHT !
The voice remain the same with Arnel Pineda....what the hack with Steve Perry anyway!
Steve Perry is one of a kind.
Agreed! there is no other voice like that.
Steve Perrywill always be remembered as having one of the greatest voices in the industry. I am so happy to have grown up in Journey's hey day. I had all their albums and saw them live twice. Pure magic.
You my friend can count yourself among the lucky ones to witness one of the greatest bands play live, if only I was a little older in the 80s.
@Steve Perry hello! You are the greatest!!
@Steve Perry 🙂
@Steve Perry I'm a nice person. I would love to really be talking to Steve Perry but...just be honest with me. We can still be friends.
I miss him. Will always be thankful he was in my time here on earth.
Steve Perry one of the best singer.
@pumpkin the wonder pug: STEVE PERRY has a new album: TRACES: 10/5/18
J
Saw them at the Forum in L.A. in 81.
You should have taped it, you'd have made a fortune on copies of the tapes. Of course nobody knew back then Perry would fall out with the band and leave. LOL.
There's only one Steve Perry THE VOICE I'LL ALWAYS BE A STEVE PERRY FAN but this shows his humility
Steve Perry is and will be my favorite vocalist of all time.
New Beginnings for
Kay bunce,
Either word works, grammatically.
I like the OP’s choice of “of all time.”
Steve Perry was my first crush ❤ He still is amazing and is so very talented.
I don’t know why you don’t hear about Mr Perry. I hear about this man, every time I turn on the radio. Thanks.
Oh how I love Steve Perry!
I know where he's at, he's 8 miles down the road from me. I went to the same high school as him. He lives in a little tiny township in a very nice home. We see him a the township's only gas station sometimes, he's a nice guy.
Vicky Vavaroutsos u lucky dog u
They probably do and they would probably make ANYWAY HE WANTS IT!!!
Lucky face💓
Met Steve a few times while working in the Music Industry and he was always very nice, very genuine and very humorous. Thanks for sharing!
Where do you live???????
no queen without freddie mercury . no beatles without john lennon
no journey without steve perry (long life for him...)
Arnel pineda saves the journey
I'd say there'd be no Beatles without any of the four, replace even one member and the magic's gone.
Also, no Blockheads without Ian Dury.
no Beatles without PM and GH either.....those guys had pretty amazing solo careers....
@@camerondodge2070 sorry not sorry but if you were to replace ringo star with LITERALLY ANYONE ELSE for drums, the Beatles will NOT sound any different
@@TheAlexa017 There would be a minuscule change in the drumming style. Ringo plays left handed on a right handed kit, causing his style to be slightly different. Unless you're a drummer, or someone who studied/studies drumming, you probably couldn't tell the difference.
He made the group complete. I have followed him for most of his career. He is very talented and I hope to hear more from him. Even some day, I meet him in person.
