  • AFE Power 51-76009 Momentum GT Pro DRY S Cold Air Intake System for Toyota 4Runner: amzn.to/2NV34vb
    This Cold Air Intake (CAI) is big, its mean, and it's loud. It definitely does the job, and you can hear at the end that is sucking more air.
    The air filter is dry (oil-free), so that means no need to pull it apart to reoil it and it has a staggering increase flow: 39%. AFE also claim HP Gain Claims: +24 HP, and Max Torque Gains Claims: +24 lbs.
    The install was quick and easy with no special tools needed. For the most part, we only used simple screwdrivers and players, with a few 11, 12, 13 sockets. The entire installation took upwards of 1 hour.
    If your looking for something other then the TRD CAI then this would be a good option. I am looking to do the K&N one day soon. But I guess they don't ship to California.
    Thanks for Trail4r for supplying the 4runner. To view their write up on the AFE vs TRD: trail4runner.c...

    Very straightforward step by step instructions. As soon as i started watching this video, i immediately went outside and did it the same way. The easier way to get that clamp with the extender on the throttle body is to take the nut completely OFF the clamp. It open big enough to put over the entire rubber.
    Thanks for this video. Really helps. Taking vehicle on the road now to test.

    • @SnailTrail4x4
      @SnailTrail4x4  6 років тому +1

      I'm not too familiar with extremely cold weather like that period here in California and never really gets that cold. However cold the air is always a benefit because it contains more oxygen in a smaller area and you can get more power out of that. but I don't know if there is a point when cold is too cold. Sorry

    • @Turd_Runner
      @Turd_Runner 5 років тому

      It depends man, you might cross the point where you might be doing more harm at those temps when the air is too cold you start to loose thermal efficiency of the engine. I had two intake setups on my old audi s4 for winter & summer (lived in sudbury) because the cold air set up in the winter was causing fouling plugs and stalling, and my temps going alover the place on the hwy when i would punch it to pass.

    ST, I find your vids very informative - however you audio needs some work - (respect) just being critical to hopefully improve your channel - really... use a mic. Your channel appeals to the +35 year old geezers like - we want to hear what you say!!!
    Got some questions: (1) What is the main purpose for doing this? (2) If this improves performance, what performance? Your vid shows a slight difference in idle/rev noise. Do you have the numbers to show the actual improvement? The reason I ask: I have friends who moded their F150, RAM etc. with a similar KM device. In the long run there were no 'significant' changes in 'performance'. I have a '17 4runner LTD that I'm aching to mod! But I need to be realistic about my expectations before I drop +$400 on anything!!!!
