Video couldn't have come at a better time. I'm literally planning the same trip from the same launch point. Wanting to do something different than my local Indian Lake, but never jigged western basin reefs with our small boat. This gave me the confidence to pull it off. Did u end up using the 3/4 or 1 oz. More? Saugeye bite has been hit and miss at indian but some days we catch some big ole gals. Jigging and trolling #5 flicker. Stay safe and fish rich 👍the empty Busch light was a nice touch 👍

@Ted Bear79 - I definitely recommend this trip, especially if the wave reports were similar to what we had at 1ft or less. Even 1-2ft would have been ok. 3/4oz worked the best for us with the low winds and if we didn't get any bites after 30min, we moved. Find the groups of boats hovering over the reefs and start at the wind source side and drift across. Pound the bottom with those jigs. Jig bite will probably only last another 2-4 weeks before they switch to worm harnesses. Get to the ramp by sun up and you'll get a parking spot. Much later than that and it will be tough. Good luck brother and drink a Busch Latte! 😁

Looks like you tried some night crawler on there - I was out there April 1-3 and tried some minnows but it didn't help - purple worked best - We hit the afternoon bite 1st and 2nd. I did get 3 on the blade bait on the 3rd - same color as yours - the water was a little muddier on the 3rd so I think that is why the blade bait rustled some up!

I didn't know you could use more than a single hook with a 1/2" inch shank to point in April. Is that just a Maumee Bay, Maumee River law?

@@tommyschlegel5653 no restrictions for that on Erie. Been using stinger hooks for many many years.

So ate you using a purple hair jig with a minnow?

Just the purple hair jig with a stinger hook. No minnow.

I'd be trolling over jigging any day. Was out there last week of March did really good trolling. Probably caught 70-80 between two of us one day.
