  • We have a gorgeous day on us today. We're out here on Lake Erie on the eastern basin, in about 50 feet of water and we're down rigging for walleye.
    We'll be using Viper Spoon and Misty Minnows on down riggers today as we slow boat through some great walleye chop.

    What I like best about your videos is that you actually teach people to fish. Many other fishing videos just show what the host is able to do, but doesn't instruct you how to do it! Keep up the good job!

    I just love watching your videos Evo. That Viper Spoon works wonder on a vast array of species. Had success with it on Walleye, lake trout, Pike and even caught bass with it. Must say that it's hard to beat on lakers though. Keep them videos coming. Always entertaining and thorough.

    Be carefull,you are solo fishing in big walleye chop and not wearing your life jacket.
    Boat is in gear and if you get thrown out of your boat,you will be in big trouble.
    Other then that ,great video and walleye for sure.
    Thanks for sharing this technic,cheers.

      thanks...and I had the cameraman on board with me :) However, wearing a PFD is a very good thing to do, and I should do it more often...we generally just wear them when the boat is moving (bass tournament rule style) but it should be worn always :)

    Great video Ivo. I have never seen the cannonball rigs, very practical. You did confuse me with rigging the rigging of a second rod though. When you have a fish on one, can you simply unclip the line from the cannonball rig and leave another? How does that work when the bottom rod is the one with a bite? I hope my question makes sense and that I didn't miss anything you said. A joy to watch as always.

    • @thundermistlures
      @thundermistlures  9 років тому

      Logan Webster Hi Logan....if a fish hits the bottom lure, it will release from the clip and you are able to fight that fish and bring it in, while still trolling. Meanwhile, your other lure is still down there. Once you have landed the fish, you can now grab your other rod and manually release it form the clip and bring it in. Now you can re-rig and gt both line back in again :) Hope this helps but if not, feel free to write back as I am happy to help - good fishing,

    • @thundermistlures
      @thundermistlures  9 років тому

      Timmy L Hi Timmy - so glad you are enjoying our videos and sounds like you have a great rip planned to cape cod :) Many people do fish the viper spoons from shore, but remember, they are a light spoon...they get a bit heavier when you add your trailing bait but you may also need to add a weight about 1 - 2 feet in front of the viper spoon,in order to get you more casting distance. Good luck out there - hope you have a great day of fishing :)

    I have a question about catfishing. i catfish from the bank and the lake floor has a lot of rocks. everytime i use a bottom rig it gets hung up on rocks so i have to use a bobber rig. but catfish hardly bit on bobber rigs. what rig should i use. i used all types of bates but chicken liver is the best but when i use big hooks catfish cant fit it in there mouth but when i use small hooks bluegill always gets it. what other bait would work that catfish ONLY likes. the depth is about 6 feet so catfish only come out in the spring. what other season would catfish come out to shallow water. I would thank u if u answered all of my questions.

    • @thundermistlures
      @thundermistlures  9 років тому

      Sung-ho Hong HI Sung-ho Hong....although there are lots of rocks, it is still best to fish on the bottom for catfish, so try using a heavy Fluorocarbon leader line which will be more abrasion resistant. Tie on a T-Turn and then go down about 6 inches to a sinker and then 12 inches to your hook. If you want, you can use a lighter line on the sinker so if it gets snagged, you only loose your sinker and not your whole rig. Fresh cut bait is always best for catfish. If you can use cut sunfish, it will work great for you (we use cut sucker and here is a video showing how to cut your bait: ua-cam.com/video/_dxdY6BNR2k/v-deo.html ) Spring time is best for shallow water catfish but in the summer, they will also move into the shallows to feed at night time :) We have plenty of catfish videos and tips on our UA-cam channel, including a special 3 part series we just recently released - if you get a chance, check them out as they may help you :) ua-cam.com/users/thundermistlures

    Do you ever bleed your walleye or fish. I used to put ice in my live well when trolling for the eyes (Michigan) & bleed them in there. No blood when I filet them. Those were two monsters. I am guessing at least 8 lbs for both.
