You've got a really pleasant delivery. This was a nice trip down memory lane for me. I would've flipped if I'd known all these tricks when I played this game as a kid lol. Kudos.
I obtained a legit Mew at an event back in 1999. I learned how to clone it and would sell clones at school for £2 each. Made a small fortune back then.
Our teachers in the late '90s in Florida were so strict against any student entrepreneurialship. And they say we're the free nation... Good for you for being lucrative!
I definitely recommend adding Pikasprey to the next iceberg, or at least one of them. He finds insane ways to softlock the games that are nearly impossible to get out of. highly entertaining lol
The Kabutops, Aerodactyl and Ghost forms of Missingno. also have the unique behavior of copying their base stats, typing and experience group from the last Pokemon in the party (that isn't itself or another alt. form Missingno.) I've got no idea why they have that trait, but it's pretty cool and adds to the spooky Eldritch vibe. Dude's a shapeshifter.
The reason Missingno. corrupts the Hall of Fame is because of its sprite, which is too large and overflows when the game tries to compress it. The Hall of Fame data happens to be right near the sprite buffer data, so when it overflows the Hall of Fame gets totally destroyed with garbage data being interpreted as Pokemon species, levels, OTs etc.
If I remember correctly, youtuber MissingnoXpert had the hall of fame music glitch happen to him during his Lets Glitch Pokemon Blue series. Dont remember if he did it purposefully, but it certainly happened to him. The series was started a decade ago, so the music bug has been known for a long while.
Great video. Several of these were new to me, which doesn't happen often. The music glitch is especially weird given its persistence ... hoping to learn more about that one some day.
I do wish a few glitches weren't included. Like the Nidoking before Brock glitch. It's just a different desired result of the Mew glitch/Trainer Escape glitch. Good collection of glitches though!
Hello ! I have a glitch/trick that I use every time I can, it is to be able (just one time) to access the S.S Anne after getting the HM01 Cut, all you need to do is to black out right after getting the HM01 without exiting the ship, doing so you'll be sent back to Vermillion City and will be able to continue the adventure, after getting Surf you can go back to the S.S Anne and see by yourself the famous Mew truck :D
There’s actually a second glitch that lets you do that too: Stand just above the guard in front of the SS Anne and face right towards the water. Save and reset the console, then use Surf without moving, which moves you down and lets you pass the guard.
My theory on the invisible PC in Celadon is that perhaps the hotel originally *was* the "Pokemon Center" for the city at one point in development, sort of as a gimmick. At some point they realized players might get confused on where to heal not seeing a Center in the city, or that it would be out of place for Celadon, supposedly a major city in-universe to be lacking a normal Center. And of course once this idea was abandoned, they just forgot to remove the PC script. That said, there are *other* invisible PCs found out of bounds in some locations that put holes in this.
I think it's important to specify that for the Q/Charizard 'M bug, the glitch Pokémon 44HY can only be caught in the wild in Pokémon Yellow (as doing so in Pokémon RB will make the game crash), and you'll have to trade it to Pokémon RB in order to perform the glitch in those games.
Love all the pokemon vids man! Brings back a lot of memories! Some of this glitches I remember finding on my own because I don’t know how I’d of found them without any internet back in the day! :)
I wish glitch pokemon were implemented again (obviously they wouldn't actually be glitches if they are intentional). Nintendo has a problem with ruining people's fun because they found an unintended way to enjoy the game. And obviously glitch pokémon would be unavailable in online battles and such. Hearing about how that fanart of Missingno. was taken down is sad... there are a variety of ways to enjoy games, and media is at its best when it's allowed to take on a life of its own, so to speak
gen 1 is where the pokemon creepypastas are born. I mean few of those glitches would scare any little kid that played. and a few people would be like "did I just opened the gates of hell?" XD
I remember using the Missingno glitch back when news of it was first coming out to power-train Pokemon for my high school competitive circuit. My Venusaur in particular had a reputation of being unstoppable because of this. I honestly wish I knew more glitches back then.
I got so good at speed running the Mew glitch as a kid. I got obsessed with doing it for like a week during a summer once. It felt so cool making the Mew appear and then trading it to my Gen 2 games to use it as a 'Starter' or something. Probably close to 20 years ago now. Damn.
Except that GameFreak or Nintendo specifically made it so the Mew obtained through that glitch cannot be transferred via Pokémon Transfer and PokeBank to future games if it doesn't have the original trainer name and ID number to match the GameFreak event Mew.
As seen from a Pokémon Blue prototype cartridge, the original sprite for the Silph Chief is what Blaine would use in the final release. Blaine's original sprite had him as a balding military man.
In addition to the mew glitch, if you talk to different NPCs before going to fight mew, you get different dialogue before the encounter. I believe if you talk to the girl training her pokemon in cerulean (maybe the pokemon itself) you will pick up a tm before the fight!
When trying to level a pokemon from 1 to 100 like you mentioned with Nidoking, it important that the pokemon does not get enough xp to level up or they will simply go to level 2 (or whatever level they should be after the xp gain). The trainer fly glitch can also be done by getting poisoned. The levels of pokemon encountered with the missingno glitch are not random, they are also determined by the characters in your name.
The funnest part about MissingNo's duplication is that, if you catch it, it happens twice, and, iirc, you can move items during the battle so you can get both Rare Candies and Master Balls with one MissingNo.
It happens, because all music is stored as 4 different tracks, one for each sound channel of the GameBoy. You can hear that pretty well in the remix, as the high pitched part is gone, replaced with a track from another music. You can mix 'n match by editing memory.
I discovered an immortal Pokemon glitch back in 1998 that I never told anyone how to do and to this day it's still not in any glitch video or any website that lists all the glitches in red and blue. Seems like no one else has discovered it in all this time. Considering making a video finally revealing it to the world.
The Explosion's interaction with Substitute is a favorite ; it's so funny to see in action. If you want more Gen 1 moves related comedy, i recommend checking out how Counter works.
i tried the missingno glitch because some class mates told me, that you can have infinte rare candies. so after doing the glitch, someday i looked into the hall of fame out of curiosity and had the scare of my young life. the shit was real. i did not knew what happened there. i went up in tears to my parents and told them my game has a virus and my gameboy has a virus too. i will never forget this moment i was like 9 or 10 years old. it was horryfying as hell
3 mews you can find, 1 by using strength on the truck at the s.s Anne docks, 2nd glitch encounter by nugget bridge and 3rd is another glitch encounter to the left of lavender town at the entrance of the town.
36:14 I accidentally did something similar, but in Viridian Forest, where I encountered a Pokémon on the tile, right before the last trainer (like at 11:22, but with no intention to set up a glitch), which then defeated mine. After spawning back at the Viridan Poké-Center and running back into Viridian Forest, as soon as I entered the forest, that last trainer would challenge me. After beating him, I could not move anymore and after pressing A, EVERY sound, music and SFX were playing indefinitely (in a row). Town music gets cut off after a few seconds, and a simple soft reset did fix it. This happened in Pokémon Yellow on the Original Game Boy Color.
I remember doing the missingno glitch and catching lvl 170 Pokémon and beating the Pokémon league with them lol. I had a lvl 177 Golduck, lvl 170+ Rydon that had hydro pump or something and a 170+ cloyster.

Not gonna lie, hearing about the Q glitch in gen 1 suddenly tells me a lot about where some trainers get moves for their Pokémon in the Pokémon Stadium duology. XD
Yoo Eisenberg, love your stuff. Would love to hear your opinions on random stuff that interests you like Breaking Bad or Better Call Saul- maybe on the other channel?😊
Just started so no idea if this will be on here but I found a super odd bug online trying to find an easier way to catch khanghaskhan without evolving missingno or the god forsaken safari zone. It was a video with very few views from like 16 years ago where you teleported in the safari zone and used old man glitch to get the spawns of that safari zone patch on cinnabar island just without safari balls or running
@RealEisenBerg @RealSkello the east coast of cinnabar will spawn pokemon from the last area you were in no matter what. You can just go from safari zone to cinnabar to battle safari pokemon. Also not to be pedantic but at 31:10 "smart" gen 1 ai is given to only boss-like trainers not all trainers are like that Amazing video btw I loved it gen 1 and gen 1 glitches are my favorite
The PC in hotel is actually because they reused the model for a Pokémon Centre, hence the PC would be there but it's invisible due to it being a hotel instead.
People may not notice the glitches because they do not mess around in the game that much. SV is more noticeable that you don't have to look for them to find them.
Also with the Hall of Fame glitches you can corrupt the hall of fame just by beating it over and over, I played Red back when it was first released in the 90's before we knew od missiningno and I got Mewtwo before we knew what a Mewtwo was (that's how long ago it was) I beat the elite four that many times I broke the hall of fame, so it isn't only Missingno that can brake it
I'd say more HAS been found out about hooked dragonite, since there exists a whole very detailed video exploring why it happens for those curious: ua-cam.com/video/RkKatd72PiQ/v-deo.html

that hall of fame glitched data is creepypasta material, i’d probably be traumatized for days if i saw that as a little kid!
1:42 they used the pokemon center interior for a lot of places, but changed the graphics to save space on the cart.

I got a legit mew and a 'gold badge' for beating the editor of official nintendo magazine in a 1 v 1 match. Such a bizarre time in gaming.

Mew cannot be obtained legitimately. The Mew glitch is all I need.
False, I found one under a truck as a kid.

You can get mew legit though
There is the 8F Glitch with which you can basically create a legitimate Mew out of thin air in your game
