There was also the acid rain glitch which needs a pokemon getting knocked out with pursuit as it's switching out. Gravity must be in effect or trick room. All the weather happens at once and abilities hurt pokemon. Castform and Cherrim can cause an infinite transform softlock. Surprised you didn't mention it. There a video on it here somewhere.
The real reason why the Hall of Origin event was never distributed is... precisely because of the tweaking glitch: To access the event you were supposed to buy a ticket for the Arceus movie... but if you had already glitched your way in and captured it, then attempting to trigger the event the intended way would do nothing. This allegedly had already happened before in Japan with the Darkrai event so, because the event involved people paying actual money and there was the posibility that they couldn't get the advertised reward if they had performed the glitch, they instead chose to distribute a special Arceus over wireless to everyone that went to see the movie. That very same Arceus was distributed over Wi-Fi in some other regions later on, leaving the Azure Flute event completely forgotten. The whole "it was too confusing" excuse is a lie. It's also probably the reason they stopped doing in-game events altogether, with Vicini in B/W being the last one, and probably only because those game were too far in development at that point to change things.
they actually did start doing in-game mythical events again with pecharunt, but the content for that was added in an update and there don't seem to currently be ways to activate it without the item
@@nopenope3678 Not the same situation. Everything about getting the Regis already came with the game (other than the translations for braille), so it was a matter of just figuring out the puzzle. The hypothetical Azure Flute gift (at least in Japan) would have involved additional money for an external product to gain access to in-game content that may or may not have had the intended results, depending on whether the player used a glitch that Game Freak/Nintendo either can't or won't officially acknowledge even years after the games' release.
Such a neat video! As someone who used to spend hours on end reading about pokemon glitches on Bulbapedia when I was younger, I think you did a nice job giving us a taste of some of the interesting bugs these games have to offer.
I did the arceus void glitch and it literally soft locked my game and made it like a creepy pasta situation as the music layered on itself over and over till it screeched. It frightened me but hey!! I did get ONE arceus eventually when I got brave to do it again :,,)
Arseus was legally obtainable in gen 4!! they just gave it away via mystery gift so the azure flute and its related event weren't released!! love the video!!!
Good video ! I want to put here 2 other glitches in Gen 4, one being actually an anti-piracy counter : - In Platinum & HGSS, if you have a pirated version of the game (mostly on bad piracy system like the DUoS emulator), after going through a bit of the story once you encounter a trainer, you'll be stuck on the battle screen saying "You are challenged by [name]", with the Pokéball of your teams indefinitely spinning. It will happen every now and then, only way to fix it is resettarting your console which means losing all progressions. However there are patches to it to play it safely, and most emulators are built so system like those detect them as legitimate DS - If any field effect is active (Sun, Hail, Sandstorm, Trick Room, Uproar, Fog, Gravity) except Rain, that a Pokémon uses Pursuit and the aimed Pokémon is switching out (which means it'll be hit by Pursuit before retriving in its Pokémon) and ends up fainting from that attack, you can cause a bug called *"Acid Raid"* . Basically *ALL* effects in this order will happen and have effects basing on what you activated it, and the weather effects will cause damage (1/8th of max HP): - Trick Room - Gravity - Uproar - Fog (deals damage) - Hail (deals damage) - Sunshine (deals damage) - Sandstorm (deals damage) - Rain (deals damage) Example : Tyranitar that uses Pursuit on a switching out Pokémon with low HP can easily do it, and will only make all other Pokémons 2/8, or 1/4th of their HP due to only Sandstorm & Rain on the field now All Pokémon with an immunity will keep only it for one of them (and they'll be get hit 4 times), but if they're immuned to 2 or more (Pokémons with Magic Guard or Swinub who's immuned to Hail & Sandstorm), they'll take no damage and the ones healing with a weather will end up healing 4 times Depending on what weather you used to activate moves like Thunder & Blizzard will just have all their effects (can't miss), Solar Beam will be usable instantly but will deal half its damage (due to rain), Weather Ball will always have maximum power and will take the highest priority weather's type, and if Castform is sent under an Acid Rain... it will indefenitely change forms, locking then the battle
Awesome additions! The anti-piracy is really neat and I didn't know about that until now either! And the details on Acid Rain is also great, really interesting glitch!
Pokemon Black and White and their sequels also have anti-piracy features, such as gaining no EXP from battles and the game randomly crashing during scripted cutscenes
the morphing gts glitch if i remember right you can recreate by nicknaming the pokemon as a different pokemon (ie, naming a SHINX as MEW will make a shinx in the gts show up as a shinx, but with the mew sprite because it gets confused due to the nickname being mew)

Cool video. Not having to look for this information on my own through rigorous searching online is nice. I will say: those yellow captions at the beginning do not need to take up the whole screen, nor be as weirdly flashy as they are. Smaller text that can cover more at a time being at the bottom of the screen is usually good enough.
I do have 1 glitch I remember really confusing me when I was little (this is diamond) I encountered a shiney psyduck, and then the dialog said I threw mud at the wild psyduck, and my game froze on the screen. I was not in the safari zone so i have no idea why it said I threw mud at it! Keep in mind I was playing in 2013-14 so the copy was already a few years old and I had problems with it freezing a bunch. I may have gotten some details wrong as it was 10 years ago, but it has really stuck with me!
Thank you for this. I have followed many channels that feature pokemon glitches and it is always a pleasure to find more. I hope you do more in the future! From TRsRockin to GlitchCity to now youtube videos, pokemon glitches are always fun. Thank you and amazing work!
Now you can recreate the sprite movement glitch in SV dlc with Ookidogi using knock off. When Ookidogi use knock off, he will gradually move backwards after each knock off.
I learn something new everyday, I knew about the Façade glitch but I had no idea Strength had a similar effect! Pretty funny how they could be stacked together as well!
Not even gonna lie, I absolutely DESTROYED my dpad on my first ds lite trying to tweak in order to catch darkrai. I never could get it, but I eventually just picked up an AR and gave myself all 3 event items. It's a shame we never got those events, they were literally COMPLETELY finished, all they had to do was distribute the key items that allowed you to access the areas. Darkrai's event was definitely my favorite, and it's a shame a lot of people's first encounter with the dream reaper isn't from that event.
The glitch where you go up the escalator and walk into a wall is indeed a real glitch, and those who attempted to perform the void glitch may have experienced it (myself included). The player avatar turns invisible when going up the escalator and forcibly walks down back into the void. I cannot recall what fixes this, but I believe it's going down the other escalator and talking to an NPC there. But the glitch is documented. I actually didn't know this was a Nintendo acknowledged glitch long ago, funny how it's still present under extreme circumstances! Also, the Aaron Elite 4 door glitch only works in early Japanese copies. I have multiple legit JPN copies of these games and sadly the glitch does not work for me on any of them. Yes, I tried for all of them, haha. I used the void glitch to shiny hunt Dakarai a good while back :) I did get it within a week.
I did the tweaking glitch and tried to get Shaymin in 2011/2012. It was a pain because you have to hold up for over an hour in the void. My dumb self did it wrong, and you can only know after saving in the void. I was so upset because I had my living dex on the game, yeah... big stupid. I did save my file though, I searched the internet for a weird ds cartridge usb from China. Used it to copy my file, set my coordinates to Twin Leaf and thankfully, restored my file. You bet I transferred all my Poke'mon and never did tweaking again.
When I was like 11 or 12 playing this game I beat the game and did everything you could until I started messing with the game mechanics. Eventually I figured out how to clip out of bounds I don’t remember how. At first I remember thinking it seemed useless until one day I just decided to run as long as I could to see if anything happened and came accidentally darkrai. I was so hyped I ended up doing it a lot more and exploring and eventually found shamin too.
I remeber as a kid playing heartgold, my typhlosion fainted fighting bruno. I went to select my mightyena, and the typhlosion sprite was still there and was on top. I thought it was funny
Man I remember the glitch to evolve pokemon with the gts, I evolved all my trade mons with that method back when I have no one to play with it was so satisfying to do. My solution for the risk was pretty simple juat ask for the evolution of that mon, if everything goes according to plan my scyther would evolve into acizor and if someone trades my mon then i will get a scizor anyways
Didn't know the Pomeg glitch was in Gen 4 too. Not sure what exact videos you are referring to, but I saw one where they encounter a wild lv 223 Sleeping, 0 HP Manaphy with a broken name. I wonder what else is possible?
One time, on the route that always rains near the grate marsh, the overworld visually desynced with the overworlds hitboxes, so visually, I was able to walk a few steps into walls, but be unable to walk back onto walkable tiles. roughly, I was 2-4 tiles down and left from where I visually shouldve been. I was only a kid at the time so I had no idea what happened, but now my best guess is it was just one of those random star particles that mess with computers flipping a bit in my DS and creating a really specific visual error. (Im also now remembering ive actually had a couple more errors ive never seen documented, but I feel like id sound unbelievable if I had accidentally discovered 3 different glitches in gen 4)
A few years ago I found a weird glitch in Pokémon sapphire where I was near the trees in the area where the daycare was and there was a truck on top of some of the trees and I was huh?? I didn’t have a phone and a gmail at the time so I couldn’t make a video of it but I was very confused
I was accidentally a focus group for the azure flute - when I was a kid, I bought a hacked copy of Pearl at GameStop that had the flute hacked in. The event had already been done, but spear pillar was the first place I went. So upset that they didn’t release it
The fact you have to break reality in-game to get to Arceus is actually quite fitting, considering its said to live outside reality in Legends Arceus.
it was intended??

All Pokémon with an immunity will keep only it for one of them (and they'll be get hit 4 times), but if they're immuned to 2 or more (Pokémons with Magic Guard or Swinub who's immuned to Hail & Sandstorm), they'll take no damage and the ones healing with a weather will end up healing 4 times
