Have to agree with the closing statement of Ciro there. As an all rounder, it's really hard to beat a Subaru. You can daily it, especially with eye-sight. Long distance travels are a breeze and done in comfort. And if you want, you can still attack corners and have fun. Also glad they have nice toys and a big touch screen, but still all the manual dials and buttons for the important stuff.
I have owned a 05 WRX and a 08 STI as well as a 08 Forester XT and a 16 Forester XT and sadly, decided on a GR Yaris over the new WRX as it feels waaaay more like my older Subarus which i loved so dearly! the new one is too big, too comfortable, too soft and too American.
I don't care about digital dials so much... But cvt? Boring in terms of looks? Not all that exciting engine wise/noise wise when it could SO easily be awesome... Pity
Fully agree as a 2013 Forester XT owner. First time I test drove a Forester I bought it in heartbeat. Apart from the missing STi and Forester XT (with this car's 2.4 Turbo) is sadly missing from the range. Glad to see that the Outback XT finally came out. Come on Subaru. We need that STi and the XT and then go all the way and to an XTi !!!!!!!
This new Subaru has really grown * too grown* at that and it has some touches known for Subaru. Good that the interior still has plenty of normal dials and touches. Thumbs up Ciro on a good useable review 👍
I fondly remember driving my brand new WRX wide-body off the showroom floor back in 2011. Best bad decision I've ever made!!! Loved that car with it's waste-gate exhaust sounds between gear changes! My GF at the time liked the Swhooo! just as much! It was R409k back then and I explained it to my buddies as a 200K corolla with 200k of performance mods on top. The radio was junk though, but I only wanted to listen to that sweet 2.5l boxer engine so it didn't matter at all back then!
Had a bit of a giggle "Corners flat", proceeds to show clips of cars on a relatively straight road. But I agree - it's the first Suby I have liked in a while.
They never kept to that agreement they lied. Like opel did with the 180is it made more power than the 200is but they had to lie cause it would hurt sales of the 200is they underrated their cars why you think a R34 had 180kph max speed on the speedo 😂
As a Blobeye WRX owner, the car has the looks , the power , the fun factor and the pure joy of the driving experience. The new car appears to have none of that, and at the same price as a Golf GTi , dare I say it , I would rather go with the Golf. Spend a few grand on some software and you have a rocket. The new Subaru with a 0-100 of around 6 seconds and the looks of a deformed Camry, doesn't inspire me to spend that kind of money !
@@layne4376 You are talking about reliability and saying go with the Subaru ??? You clearly have never owned one then. I have been in the motor trade for more than 30 years and while I love my Blobeye, it is hands down the most unreliable car I have ever owned.
@layne4376 I have owned more cars than I can remember and one brand I know to be utter rubbish , is VW. That is compliments of 30 + years of repairing cars from pretty much every manufacturer. I owned a Gti for 1 month and dumped it. My 1st WRX was reliable. The current one has been a pain in the arse.
I have both a 2003 JDM STI conversion and a 2022 WRX. Both are great. Though if I have to replace the EJ in the future, I will look into an FA24 replacement. It's just a better engine
Lol @ "Naff spoiler" - I do kinda miss the bonkersness of the old spoiler... maybe they'll bring out a more hardcore version, that will also solve that red-line-too-soon issue you mentioned... which might just explain why they restrained this engine, slightly.
The new WRX styling is not to my taste. Fortunately there are so many other new and near new performance options available for the same or less money that look amazing and perform just as well so it not an issue.
@@Jeremy-yg4ok Looks are subjective but this is what I'd buy instead. GR Corolla, Yaris, 86 or Supra, previous gen WRX, FK8 CTR, i30N, BMW M140i, Audi S3 just for starters. If we go older again and just look at bang for bucks the list is even bigger. Basically the point I'm making is there are heaps of options out there new and used.
Very disappointed with this generation WRX. I'm happy to keep my 2014 model for a bit longer, never had any issues with it and I still love driving it, even 10 years later.
I drive a 2022 Forester model and I'm lusting after the latest Outback! Similar power and torque figures and amazing practicality... I've heard it's not to bad
At least they realised a CVT 'box was a proper kak idea. It also fell out of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down. It has the name and the badge but there's no Subaru magic. I'd rather buy five 2006 STIs...
I hope Subaru learns from the mistake Mercedes made with their new C63 and decides not to produce an electric STI! Many car manufacturers are losing a significant portion of their identity due to electrification. While it might be suitable for typical, everyday vehicles, it doesn't feel right for performance cars, especially for those with a rich heritage. It's disheartening to transition from describing a car with terms like "Boxer Turbo with Variable Valve Timing" to merely stating it has "two electric motors and a 100kWh battery". How much more advanced can one electric motor be compared to another? It almost feels as if they're all derived from generic designs, reminiscent of washing machines. This evolution is truly saddening for car enthusiasts like us.
Drove the new WRX albeit in CVT (vomit) guise. Was not one bit impressed. Drove the previous gen WRX and STI, and those before it too Of all of them, the Hawk Eye STI remains my personal favourite. A tad jealous on that Provide Hawk you've got... please never sell it.
I too own a 2006 Subaru Impreza WRX and I think it’s still one of the best looking Subaru’s. Unfortunately I wouldn’t get a new WRX. Maybe there was too much design input from Toyota.
What is it about boards of engineering-oriented car brand companies. Innovative engineering gets nullified by pencil heads sitting in boardrooms. Then, they take ridiculous bonuses to add insult to injury. This woke world is seriously starting to p@$$ me off! WRX STi used to be my "poor man's dreamcar". Alas, no more. I'll rather get a Polo GTI.
I can't for the life of me look and hear the old WRX and think it's can be compared with the modern day car. One says car enthusiast and the other says family man who couldn't get his way...
Ciro blessing us with these reviews more regularly ever since he came back. Not complaining at all 👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾
Thank you so much
Where did ciro go? Does he know that he is a clone of Jimmy Kimmel?
@@robertcarr4172oh please, give Ciro some credit, at least his jokes are funny

is the 08 sti reliable ?
I fully agree with you. Sports car dials should remain analogue.

@@Showmetheevidence- All WRX's should be manual only, much more fun to drive than automatic.
Why does this feel so illegal? Such good content for so little likes 🥺🥺, i wish i could give more.

Great video 🎉 definitely would take a look at the new one vs a GTI, stand out a bit from the rest.

Ciro. Always the best.
Suburu has been neutered by the toyota bean counters.
It used to be awesome.

The exhaust note on old Subaru 👌
Subaru and Mitsubishi had a gentleman’s agreement to limit the power to similar levels in the early 2000’s. Not sure if it still stands.
They never kept to that agreement they lied. Like opel did with the 180is it made more power than the 200is but they had to lie cause it would hurt sales of the 200is they underrated their cars why you think a R34 had 180kph max speed on the speedo 😂

The old school subaro still looks angry hot thn new generation

at 12:52 I just notice on the new design. The wing of the old model is incorporated in the light design.. Or am I just seeing things..

So Subaru still do not have sport automatic gearbox?
It's the prodrive for me

STI electric 😭😭😭😭😭I agree with you..... so SAD!!! Well, nothing wrong with this WRX it seems hey?
The new Suburu lacks that cool spoiler 😫😫😫
He lost me when he said the new wrx has a rumble 💀
Lol the hawkeye has better brakes than the new car... hawkeye have 4 pot front and 2 pot rear on top of the red paint 😎
Ciro your Subaru looks and sounds so much better.
that was a rather quick segment on the exterior. the new subaru WRX is not quite a looker is it

I like it. But I can't afford it. Weird, because I could afford the 2007 FXT which is the same thing really.
I honestly just don't like the look of the new Subaru, it's looks toyish and badly designed .Need I mention all the plastic fenders
Is there an STI in the pipeline..!?
Ciro did cover it in the film but nope, no STI for this generation. The next generation of STI will be fully electric
How much is S- Presso?
You clearly have a phone or computer and internet access. You have all you need to answer your question
That manifold is not good enough, it needs UEL Headers to be a real WRX
Feels more like an add as opposed to a car review. The car doesn't look that impressive and isn't as great as the competition out there
I will pay extra for the prodrive 😂
All electric is just such bs... Won't be buying any electric Subaru myself
Honda oh it's a sub
but isn’t the boxer engine one of the most unreliable engines?
Porsche has left the chat😅
No but they do require more maintenance.
😢STI was made to be combustional not electric
The black section of the rear bumper reminds me of 90s Povo spec cars. Eww.
I don't like the way this new Subaru looks
