CM blew it out of the park with this case. The more I see it, the more I really like it! Also, it's nice to have options regarding the back covers; use it if you want, or don't..
14:37 WHAT did you just do to that SSD Kyle??!
DrShrimpy underrated comment lol
lmao
#SSDlivesmatter
thanks for the good laugh! hahaha
Fingering the ssd will decrease the storage
I love the little peg solution for mounting SSDs, I imagine it's cheaper for the manufacturer and ends up being cheaper for us. Also no bracket means it's a fair bit cleaner looking and ultimately the case is slightly lighter too. I wish the H500P Mesh had this.
Burt Macklin very much agreed!
literally all it is, is a rubber grommet they put down in the holes that fit snug around the thumb screws. theres nothing ground breaking about it. you can go to lowes and get a pack of 100 for like $5. people have been using them in built cases for years.
You said mesh 37 times this episode.
That's a good thing. Now if only we can get more good looking (non-rectangular/boring) cases with proper mesh ventilation for air cooling.
what about "pop" pretty sure he its much more
Basically wayyy to many times
are you meshin with me?
Bitwit ahhahaha, you made my day
*2019* Now with an aircraft carrier!
actually, maybe you did or didn't know about this, but there is an aircraft carrier case www.trustedreviews.com/news/asrock-aircraft-carrier-pc-2950178
Wow, I had no idea there was a review of this case. It’s what I built my own computer in, with my first build ever. And I simply _adore_ it.
cable covers and PSU covers instantly increase the value of a case to me exponentially. So is reversibility and I'm sad this doesn't come with it but I can live without it. This case looks gorgeous and has the airflow that stopped me from getting the other version.
Gotta say I love those cable covers. As a guy working with repairing, upgrading and building PC's to people age 13 and up, these cable covers are an absolute godsend. Same for all the screws. I experience absolute PC hell from time to time. Craving customers wanting perfect cable management in cases with 0 metal backs, but getting extensions aren't an option (good luck on that btw). Customers wanting to get their old, dusty, humid towers back home after a tower upgrade and then get mad when the clips of the clipping solutions broke after being subjected to years of heating up and being cooled down, plus the occasional accidental kick or move of the PC.
This case is freaking god! Thank you Cooler Master, for making lives a heck of a lot easier for people like me.
Was literally looking for a case like this when UA-cam recommended me this video
I personally like the cable cover on the back. If I'm getting a new case or doing a new build and it's personal to me I want it to look good. Tempered on the back is an 'eh' for me because even the best cable management without shrouds can still look janky and unclean. Yeah, the shroud adds an extra 5-25 minutes of work depending on how you have to reroute your cables but it's worth it in the end to have a clean look on both sides.
I have this case and I love it. Cable management is easy and yes I like the panels that cover up the cables. Very clean looking design.
15:22 yes they're valuable
I own this case, and never knew that there was a fan/rgp controller there, glad i watched this
I for one like having the shrouds. It makes for a cleaner look threw the class and it gives you places to tuck away cables. Also you aren't required to use them for most of the functions of the case. I'll never complain about more options on a case, don't like em or need em take em off.
Literally Masters of building cases and cooling systems. They never disappointed and I can consider myself a Cooler Master fan, you know what I'm sayin' :)
I like the top of the case, I like the glass and I like how easy it is to access and modify. I also like oreo's. Also kittens and puppies. That part has nothing relevant to the video, but I like them.
Snafu2346 relateable
love how this case looks. the tempered glass and all is great but the cable management side does not need glass i think. maybe decrease price by making it a metal and remove all the inside parts.
Great review.
This has to be the first case in which the top/front glass implementation is not completely choking the fans.
I especially like the top panel showcasing the fans, really nice.
And yes, the current trend with panels covering the backside of mobos is a complete waste of materials.
The pop-out window for the power supply is used to show off ur PSU. They make a PSU with a digital display that shows how much Wattage your using and the display is almost in the exact shape as the window cut-out.
Such a great case; I’ve been waiting to see this properly released and reviewed since it was first announced. If no one releases anything better before my next build, then this will be its home. :) Those larger mesh sections that also provide increased distance between the panels and fans look amazing. For me, it’s all about airflow, functionality and size, and aesthetics; this case appears to deliver on all counts.
As for the rear cable cover plates, I’d definitely try to use them if I wasn’t facing that right side toward the wall to allow for a cleaner look through the right tempered glass panel.
In your comments about the cable-management covers, it's meant for the cables to go out the bottom of the cover and into the power supply shield area. The cable area on the right that you have it coming out of is more likely only meant for sata and 12V cables, hence it's smaller opening
I like the cable management covers
Yes! They do work. You just need to spend a little bit more time getting the cables nice and flat so the covers will fit. They are not a complete solution for lazy cable management
i still don't really see the appeal. if i want to hide all the cables then the glass side panel is pointless, if i wanted to show how neat the cables are then the covers are pointless. i guess for the most part you have the options needed to please the most people, though for me i think i would rather a no glass side panel, no cable covers option and save a few bucks on the cost
You need to do a good job on cable management first to even fit the panels. The point of the right side glass panel is to show that you managed to fit all the panels and also to showcase your SSDs. It looks really really good if everything is done. I like to look at it. Its probably the best case ever when it comes to hiding your cables.
vapout80 >> Try making a build for a 13 year old who wants an awesome looking, RGB PC, but it has to look cool and it's a must not to see any cables that can be hidden. Imagine such a guy choosing a case with freaking glass on all sides and no cable covers. Cable management has to be absolutely perfect or the customer might not want the build you just spent way over 2000 dollars on.
I've done such builds. Both for 13 year olds and adults. I call these cable covers a godsend. And so do I for all the screws.
If you or a customer doesn't want to see any cables, why choice a case with a glass panel on the back of the motherboard tray/where the cables run. my first pc i put together in the late 90's was a 100% perspex case with 20 odd leds and 2 strip lights. thing was a nightmare trying to make the cables look ok (i failed, first build and all) back then everything was ketchup and mustard, modular psu's as far as i am aware wasn't a thing at all and light the bedroom room up so much i couldn't leave it on overnight due to being so bright (downloading with 90's dsl meant overnight dl's was very common) but that came with my choice to use such a case
It's funny seeing him review this update right after watching him do last year's edition and him not realizing most of what he complained about last year being fixed/implemented this update except for the rear covers he didn't know how he felt about them last year either
Best review I’ve seen of this case thus far. Thank you for the attention to detail and high quality close up shots!
This seemed like a much more detailed and thoughtful case review compared to others in the past. Awesomely done!
love big fans, i find 200 mm dual fan fronts give great airflow and if fans quiet then the extra size cvan help contribute great airflow while being quiet.
What I get out of the whole video is that Cooler Master is making 200mm RGB fans. That's really awesome since that makes it possible for me to switch out every one of the fans in my Cosmos II for RGB fans. That includes the 200mm fan in the front of my case.
I have the original case. The front and top are both acrilic/plastic (which I was disappointed with at first). However it does have that same honey comb mesh and vents on the top and side that don't get too dusty. However I vacuum every week and dust the case about once a month with just my finger. Plenty of airflow on this thing if you go with a tempered glass route.
The fans also spin at different rates which I don't mind but I do wish I could address the rgb like this new one so I could have more than one color showing at a time.
Kyle, you can probably mount the hard drive cage the other way around so you can remove the drives without removing the shroud. The cable routing might be difficult though.
2 years later and this case is still expensive to get now.
Get the regular h500
@@daogpickle3159 I already have this case and I got it new when it's on sale, about 30% off. The GPU support for my big RTX card, Type C front connector, good airflow and overall a very solid and nice looking case which seems to be better than H500.
I couldn't take my eyes of that gorgeous Noctua fan in the intro ad. It really works in that camo colour scheme - and I don't know why.
was looking for new case, watched this video, checked gamernexus review of it for tempatures, was so impressed that went to computer store right after watching it, , ordered new pc with 5900x on it with this case. Thans bitwit
"Brings alot of features to the table" Me: "Yes the dust intakes" XD
Unfortunately after only building my 1st pc about 1 year ago... After seeing this... I want to build another with this cooler master...
I knew I'd fall into this pc building addiction!
I like the air flow and the 2 200mm fans. Very ventilated case .
15:20 i like it. the cable management wouldnt be a problem is it was zip tied in a flush line, and not bundled like you can see on the top.
Just built in the h500p mesh yesterday. Honestly I could see the cable management cover panels be kinda nice with the tempered glass, but frankly they are a pain in the ass to work with to the point I just left the big one off because just having the extra space was more useful. I think just having the opaque panel instead of tempered glass on the other side is the way to go.
The humming comes from CM fans. I have a ML240L with two masterfan 120 air balance rgb and I get a similar noise to what I heard from Paul's system when testing it.
A for all the panels and things like that, it seems like this case is going for customization. There's something for everyone, to meet anyone's niche needs. It was well thought out. How much these features actually get used, who knows. But it's worth it for someone.
I have MasterCase H500 and it's perfect. Makes my old Segotep case look like a toy in terms of airflow and stuff.
Can you just pull the HD rack and flip it around? The mounts don't seem directional. It might be a little screwy for cable management, but you wouldn't see any of it anyways and it would point the slides towards the back. Great review though, Kyle. With those 200 mm fans at the front, a follow up air cooled build with this might be cool (see what I did there?).
I think u can easily move the radiator a bit to fit the fans. Push pull 😍
minute 14:10.....why don't you rotate HDD cage 180 degrees horizontally so you can access to them from behind?
He replied to someone else in the comments somewhere that he tried to but it didn’t work.
I've been waiting for this case to appear downunder, hopefully they appear soon, thanks for the review, I think I have made up my mind, Why is picking a case so differcult for me, lol
I love so much about this case, but there is definately room for improvement..
1. The use of aluminum in certain places would be a welcome addition, minimal increase in weight but more structural rigidity so that it does not sound like "a motel 8 bed" (quoting GN), and brushed aluminum does look very appealing when done correctly, especially when black anodized.
2. ARGB controller; if they would give you both a reset and ARGB controller button on the case that would be nice, it's not much to ask for, but it would be a welcome addition.
3. HDD enclosure; I completely agree with you regarding custom open loop cooling and the enclosure being a lot to deal with if you ever needed to do HDD management, perhaps making the pieces modular, thus not increasing production costs that much?
4. Top mount AIO/LQ cooling solutions; by giving that area at the top another 1/2 inch of space above the board (perhaps for an ATX full tower redesign/rename) the fan issues could be resolved and potentially make for a push-pull system?
As for the back panels, I like the option of having them, I think it adds to the value and allows for more independent customization, some may like it, others not and either way you are covered, this is to be applauded not scolded.
Overall I would give this case a solid 9/10, this is impressive for a frakkin ATX MID tower... this is not even a full tower and it does things better than many full towers do, it really maximizes the space well!
I want to see cases include an HDMI passthrough for VR
S340 elite is the only one afaik
EVGA DG-87 series has a pass thru as well
As long as the cable has a mesh sleeving.
can someone give a example of what is a 3,5 inch vr addron thing so i know whats talked about? i have no clue why id need something more or idk im missing something?
oooh so thats not a problem for me since i got direct access to the back of my pc :3 good to know
Big fan of that peg mounting system.
I think that cover is pretty cool. To fit it on I guess you have to make the 24 pin completely flat and not twisted.
I actually prefer accessing the HHD from the same side I access everything else. even if you remove the PSU shroud, I don't need to remove the second side panel. because I am tall, I prefer working in a computer by laying it on its side when I stand up and having the ability to not remove the two side panels is a huge plus for me.
the cable management cover is a useless gimmick IMO. when you have a good cable management, you want to show it off... and anyways, if you use those, you have a huge side panel that just shows.... barely anything... what would be the use of a glass side panel if you hide anything that it could show?
Thanks a lot for this nice review including some building impressions - personally for me THE case of the year - will defenetly be my new home of my new highend gaming rig ;-)
I'm in love. I'll look for more affordable but I doubt I'll be as satisfied. How often will I switch out a hard drive? Most likely never. The cable management covers? Like em. I think you were fishing for comments. Well done, sir. Work with them and there's no issue. Doesn't seem that difficult.
Watching 5:40 and on without sound makes the video 10 times better. Including a floating hand making weird moves
I love the mounting system for the SSDs. Lots better than the trays. I expect the types of mounts will proliferate.
I'm getting this case soon. Can't wait
I like my EVGA DG-87 case cost me 240, I think the most expensive and heavy case was 300 and Azza Genesis 9000D white back in 2014.
So finally would you recommend this case?
Excellent unbiased overview. Thank you for taking the time to review and post
Well it gave me some ideas but if u do watercool ur pc u could just keep shroud off and bring a bit of a different look of the feel to it
The panels on the back are there for people that don't want to do proper cable management.
me
seems like it would be even more of a pain to put them back on with unruly cable everywhere.
Well jokes on you I don’t do cable management and can’t even shut it
Have you tried just installing the hard drive cage backwards?
yeah, it doesn't work :(
Bitwit you can't just insert the drive sleds from the back?
Probably haven't tried all possible solutions yet.
time for some modding ;)
Now that's just bad planning on their part. WTF...............
G'day Kyle,at 14:35 I like the cable management covers on the back, as you said your power cable should have been mounted different, (out the left side then up behind the other cover to the gromet)
Really enjoyed the review
Something I’m confused about in the case market lately is a great lack of cable grommets. I am currently using a Corsair air 540 which was released in 2013 (I’m not entirely sure about that, but i know it’s around there) and it has 2 cable grommets at the top of the case for the 12v EPS cable and fan cables and what not, and for some reason recently no cases have had those extra grommets in the top for those cables. If a case from 2013 that cost less money at retail has them, why don’t modern more expensive cases
My thoughts exactly Kyle Szalontay. I'm still rocking the 740 air for this same reason. Everything about that case is well dated now yet I'm finding it hard to find a replacement. I honestly would buy this case as a replacement due to the features alone. I could always mod the case and just add a few myself.
I love the aggressive design of this case.
If they made a variation of this case for mATX mobos (lowering the rear IO cutout), it would give an extra 45mm top clearance for radiators, it would be the PERFECT case!
In regards to that request for opinions on whether the rear covers are gimmicky or not, I have to say I think a better solution would be to just not have a tempered glass side panel on that side of the case. I never understood why in the world some case manufacturers do that when there's nothing good to see there anyway. It's pointless and only serves to make cable management more difficult while increasing the cost.
Ahh!! The perfect case I've been waiting for. Going to buy this one soon *_*
Get an open case instead, it looks light-years better, is cheaper, and gives you way better thermals. Just got 9je myself about 2 months ago and it's been awesome ever since.
The back shroud covering aren't necessary, I like the matrix of wires neat, but the wire management ppl are perfectionist so this will help cover those up, lol. Thanks for pointing out the hard drive pull out configuration, not to big, but good to know. I plan on doing a full rgb build, but coolermaster needs a 360mm AIO or I may go with the Corsair one. Thanks again for a thorough review and angle shots on the case. You da best.
Beautiful case. Still loving my master case 5 pro. But maybe time for an upgrade.
If you rerooted your 24 pin cable through the front under the front cover and up and through the same gromt it should be out of the way and the cover should go on fine. and you don't have to worry and the little bit of normal power supply cables showing through the glass panel.
You can flip the drive bays.
It's damn perfect. Loved it......
Gotta say I really like that case looks great and I like the panel idea for covering your cables
I always liked this case even when it was trash but I’m glad they made it better
Main reason I like it, the two fans in the front and glass
Maybe I missed it but can't you also flip it around and access through the powers supply access points? Of course with a little modification. Looks a bit expensive but cool AF!
this is the case that i have been waiting for no more choking the front fans
I'd prefer not to have a tempered glass on the back side but if I was going to i'd like to have those covers to hide the cable management.
@7:01 Dont forget to grout your case!😂
It's really cool. Maybe steel was better? But REALLY good for every management need.
I do like the back plates to hide the wires instead of having them showing through the tempered glass back. I do not like the GPU bracket though. It does seem weak, as it appears in your video. Paul's video showed it does get in the way of some GPU fans also. I think it needs to have a vertical edge to it, or an angle, for strength and maybe a telescoping end to get out of the way of the fans on some cards. Maybe a J-hook on the end so it catches it and holds it up. It could be made to look nice if they do it right, like maybe some color to it or a changeable color snap in to match the build.
Bought one H500M...love it...but couldn't use the covers on the back, just too many cables in my rig. The large 20mm fans come with an awful Y splitter, you'll need a proper one to be able to see your fans in your MOBO (noctua splitters are great)
I got the covers on mine but it took about 2 hours of messing around and minor adjustments. Lovely looking case though.
The side panel you were on the fence about at 15:20, I left mine out. It was getting in the way of my build cause my PSU is older and I have extra cables since it isn't modular. I needed the case worse the the PSU. I'll get another PSU soon so I can reduce the amount of cables used. Will see if the side panel will fit then. My case is the M500P so no glass outer side panel. I can add a glass one and might later but meh. I only focus on one side anyways.
All these pc vids makes me want to get one which I’ve wanted a pc for 2 years I’m stuck with console.
Let me make sure I understand: Addressable RGB basically means that you can connect the fan to the motherboard and use software to control the effects, is that correct?
I have the case. Its nice. Watch videos on how to take it apart and remove things and put them back in because the instructions CM gives is horrible.
It's about $50-100 more than I want to spend on a case, but man I really do like this (other than the hard drive cage :/). I'm gonna have to think about this one.
Finally..exactly what i asking for..thumbs up CM!!
This is now one of the two absolute best cases for cooling.
Happy to see this case coming to market, Mmmoist, hopefully I can get my hands on one, agree with the HDD cage, making sure to put in quality effort for cable management should be a top priority, (dont be lazy), I was hoping for that price, it would have 4x 200mm fans total plus a 140mm mini-me version for the rear, Love the angle of the power supply shroud, great to see the Type-C up front too. Keen AF.
THANK YOU for actually doing a build with the case. It makes it so much easier to see how it would actually turn out
They finally made a good case... It's actually pretty awesome!
Good review Kyle!
Kinda wish I had gotten this instead of my 570x mirror black
I had to force the cable cover on my H500P to close with my foot while I'm screwing them in with both my hands.
is it possibile to do the light effect at 18:00 also with h500p?
I dunno if the panels are a value add or not, but it's definitely nice for those who are very picky about aesthetics. Would be nice if you could get them in different colors or with designs on them.
Very good and comprehensive review
Definitely a good case all around, the options are there
Possibly the best case from cooler master this year. Unless the master case maker 7 comes out, which reminds me of origin’s genesis case.
CM gave the option of a glass or mesh front cover. Too bad they did not give the same option for the top cover.
Yup I have two of those cases and think the same on the covers a waste you really have to think out the cables and well
I was thinking about buying this over the Cooler Master MasterCase H500M but its like double the price but i do love the power button ect on the front (sort of).
Would have been nice to extend the slide slot for the gpu support and add another support for more than 1 gpu (sli)
