Farmers dog has a diy option and they will sell you a months worth of nutrient packages for 30 bucks. And they give you all the receipts and easy calculation for multiple batches at a time.
Thanks for this video!! I've been trying to find the right mix of food for my pup. I started making it myself using meat, veggies and brown rice. I also add two eggs when I brown the meat. I did have a dry kibble that I leave in case Pooch wants a quick snack -- I was using Blue Buffalo until I read the FDA said it causes heart problems -- geez! I just got a bag of Sundays, but it took 2 weeks to get it, which I think is ridiculous in today's shipping world. Pooch didn't seem that interested in it and it gave her a mushy stool -- probably the change. I bought the beef.... probably will cancel.
When I was a kid, my Dad would "make" homemade food for our dachshund___sort of. Dad would take our leftovers (Mom cooked from scratch ) and put them in a Tupperware in the frig. With everything, vegetables 🥕🥦, potatoes 🥔, rice, meat, 🥩🍗🍖 leftover lettuce even 🥬 (without dressing) He would chop it up and add it to her kibble and wet food. Once a month (?) he'd add a raw egg for her shiny coat. Now did my dog's diet have processed ingredients? Yes unfortunately, because of the kibble and wet/canned food, but I'm convinced she ate better than most (70's-80's) because she also got to eat real food just like we did every night. I miss that little hotdog (dachshund)
Great video, Dave. Few questions.. 1) Does the food come frozen and needs to be kept frozen and thawed every time before feeding? 3) Do they send a month worths of food or how is it broken down? 2) what is the electronic item on Grumpy?
Hey Jose! It comes frozen and we thaw it every time we use a pack. We get about a month’s worth of food at a time, but you can get less if that works better for you! The electronic item on Grumpy was a wireless microphone for the video 😀
Thanks for the swift response, @@davechung . Just checked their website and it looks like they auto default it to two weeks to start off, but you can change it. oh, haha! :) Thanks again!
Pretty good overall! Definitely better than the kibble days, but I should brush their teeth more than I do. Since the food isn’t as processed, their teeth seem to be much better. Our schnauzer has only eaten The Farmer’s Dog his whole life, and he has the best teeth of all.

Thanks for adding this! I haven’t tried it myself, but I’d love to hear if it’s worked for you!
Thank you for this information!
Awesome review! My dog's first Farmer's Dog package arrived yesterday. Im crossing my fingers that he'll love it! 🤞🙂
Thank you! I hope so too! Remember to transition it with his regular food like normal, but I'm crossing my fingers for you!
@davechung Thank you! Will do!

Our dogs had Blue Buffalo waaaay back. This should be a huge upgrade for your pup!
What about the chicken and grain recipe? I am on the fence about ordering it! Thank you!
Our dogs ate it for a while! They like the beef more, but chicken was a regular recipe for them!
My 3 year old mini schnauzer loves this recipe. Been on it for a month now. Was told a high quality protein and grain are needed for them.

@@agustopapa No problem! I hope it works out for you and your dog!
Im doing half homemade and half farmers. Save money and time and peace of mind
That’s a great move! You’ll have options when you travel or are short on time!
How many lbs is grumpy?
He’s about 20 pounds or so!
❤❤❤🎉
How are your dogs teeth?
